Google Handwritting, Language Settings Page is blank/ unable to start, Android N Pre - Pixel C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When first starting Google Handwritting in Android N preview the "download languages" opiton is disabled/greyed. In the app under settings>languages the settings page is blank. I did not try Google Handwritting before updating to N, so I don't know if it was already an issue. Any others having this problem or have any ideas?

Archos G9 101 & Omega Virtual Assistant app

Omega (by Async Solutions) is a very good 'Siri' like solution for Android and works quite well.
Has anyone been able to get Omega to work with the Archos G9 101 Firmware 4.0.6?
There are videos on youtube which show it in action:
w ww.youtube.com/watch?v=52sDFhkyFyQ&feature=related
w ww.youtube.com/watch?v=0xes_QHWyH4&feature=fvsr
For people who want to try out Omega on firmware 4.0.5
Omega requires 'Google Voice Search' and 'Google text to speech engine'.
You need to install 'Omega' using the 'apk', as on Google Play, it says 'Not compatible with your device'. 'apk' file below:
w ww.filestube.com/7b4af182e69d259b03ea/go.html
Use file manager like 'ESS file explorer' to install 'apk'.
Following installation, Omega checks for presence of 'google voice search' and 'text to speech engine'. Looking through the forum, it seemed that the new version of 'voice search' might be incompatible with Archos 101.
forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=62455
So, download the 'Voice Search apk 2.1.4' and install using 'ESS File Explorer' again.
w ww.mediafire.com/?09xgqhkfeph4bvb
Restart Omega and you have got it working.
But the same doesn't work on Archos G9 firmware 4.0.6. Upon upgrade, Omega's text to speech has got messed up. Using Omega, it understands the questions, searches for answer and gives it back (text on screen), but the 'text to speech' no longer works. Re-installing the 'Google voice Search apk 2.1.4' doesn't seem to fix as well.
If anyone got Omega working on firmware 4.0.6, please share your experience and how you resolved the issue.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Does this work on any device?
Play Store works on any Blackberry device running OS 10.3 or better. OS 10.2.x is not supported.
I can't login with Google Account Manager
Assuming that you have entered the correct password, you now have the following options:
1) Turn OFF 2-Step Verification for your Google account here: https://myaccount.google.com/security#signin
OR
2) create an app specific password and use that password to login.
I downloaded an app from Play Store and now it's asking for Google Play Services
Google Play services is a framework that is provided by Google to help developers to speed up and simplify app development. Some apps that you download from Play Store may require Google Play services (mostly apps from Google, apps that display some kind of geographic map and apps that require Google+ login). These apps can be patched and will work to a certain extent. Read this post for more details:
Cobalt's official Google Apps landing page
Play Store is randomly popping up and wants to install updates for my apps
If this happens, you have turned on automatic app updates in Play Store settings. To turn them off, go to Play Store settings -> Automatic app updates and disable updates. You will still receive notifications in the hub if updates are available, but they won't automatically download.
Play Store doesn't display previously installed or purchased apps in "My Apps" section
Close Play Store, then go to Blackberry Settings -> App Manager -> Device Monitor -> Storage -> Play Store and hit "Clear Data". In general, app data must always be cleared if you update the Blackberry Google ID app or if you do a re-checkin. This is required to update the localy cached ID with the new ID on the Server.
Play Store is displaying "Error while retrieving information from server [DF-XXYYZZ]"
To fix this problem, go through all of the following steps:
1) Close Play Store
2) Go to Blackberry Settings -> App Manager -> Device Monitor -> Storage -> Play Store and hit "Clear Data"
3) Run Blackberry Google ID and unregister the the device
4) In Blackberry Google ID tap on your email address -> select your account -> remove the account in top right menu.
5) Back on main screen of Blackberry Google ID hit checkin and follow the instructions
Are you logging my account data or stealing my money?
NO data is logged or transferred anywhere else than to the Google servers. Your data and your money is secure.
Is this all for free?
Yes, it is! But please consider that the dev has spent hundreds of hours doing the reverse engineering of all this stuff, patching it, rewriting code and testing it. So if you really appreciate his work, I would be happy if you donate a few bucks. But it's up to you.

How to get Heycortana back on Redstone Build 14367 from 8.1 &messaging +skype

From the Recent Redstone Builds "Hey Cortana" app doesn't work,
so we miss Cortana passive activation through heycortana app for supported devices like lumia 1520,930
when you open Heycortana app,it says "turn on cortana first",if you click on cortana settings,we can see cortana already setup
after 10-12 trails from 8.1 to Redstone, finally setup "hey cortana " to working again
we need to Active Hey cortana from 8.1 (1520/930 only)
PreRequirements:-
1)Hey cortana supported device(1520/930)
2)2.2 GB data sharing from wifi connection
3)2-3 hrs of free time(need patiency)
flash to 8.1 to Windows Device Recovery Tool(WDRT)/any other tool
in the Initial setup uncheck automatic store app update & automatic phone update & complete the setup(see screenshot 1)
go to date&time settings forward date to 100yrs (ex 2016),come back click on Extras+ info & uninstall it,
set the date & time correctly
log in to store and first install "upgrade Advisor" and complete setup &enable windows 10 update.
go to store settings, click on check for update
list of available app updates will come, update "heycortana" only
turn on location ,open cortana complete setup, you need to turn on "location" till the end.
now open Hey Cortana and complete training..
go to phone update and install update(lumia update+wm10 update)(1.2GB wifi data required)
after updating to 10586.107,
Skype+messaging :-
don't update Skype+messaging to use it on >14367 ,don't update it.
those who want to deploy Skype+messaging 2.13 : Download(see sceenshot 14)
install windows insider select fast ring & it will restart
update all required apps from store
now check for update download it
and
while installing it turnoff WiFi & cellular data
Before clicking on restart make sure you turn on location, otherwise you need start from first
after upgrading 14367,say hey cortana ,it will work, now open cortana, now you can use hey cortana even when location turnoff
summary :-
update heycortana on 8.1 train it
update to 10586.107,update all apps, keep loction on
select insider fast ,
turnoff INTERNET while installing starts, keep loction on when you update from 10586.107 to 14371,otherwise messaging +skype will not work

Thanks I tried that and then i go back to AOSP setting and choose Language -> I did not see chinese or mandarin or any chinese related.
It shows list from start to end English - US ->> Uzbek, Vietnamese, Zulu end of list.
It does'nt have chinese though, maybe I need to install from playstore.
System -> Languages & Input -> Languages -> + Add a language (chinese will be at the bottom of the list)
I have a problems where I am able to choose Chinese as a language but am not able to activate Chinese as an input method. Same with Korean.
Should probably add... I use lineage with opengapps (pico) and the aosp keyboard.
The keyboard settings say use system languages but show only English and German although Chinese is configured as a system language.
I have the exact same problem with lineageos adroid keyboard.
Chinese language is available as system language for display purposes, but no input is available.
Ditto. Android 10 / LOS 17.1, zero Google apps, Chinese (简体中文) is enabled as a system language, and there seems to be no provision for actually entering Chinese. And the Google Pinyin Input app (which is what I have used in the past on CyanogenMod and LineageOS) seems to not work at all on this device (Sony Xperia Z3). The latest version of Google Pinyin installs and then dies silently, older versions will not even install. Ummmmm, that makes LOS unusable for something like 1/5 of the world's population. ;-) Maybe more, if this holds true for other Asian languages.
I'm also experiencing this, is this not fixed yet? Hard to believe

Now July 2022, I have same situation with 18.1 recently updated (July 2022) on Samsung HLTE. I do not have any Google product installed, including Play Store.
I have (and have activated ) the Chinese simple option in the languages, but am unable to change it in the key pad.
It seems as though most Asian languages except Vietnamese are missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: July 10th
Really would like some feedback on this please?
Is it something I am or not doing?
Is this an issue with this ROM/
Is it simply not possible?
I see it is showing com.android.imput.latin in the keypad setting.
I cannot find any way to switch to Cn.
Is there an update via Lineageo/s I can add to achive this please?
Don't hesitate to ask me if there is info missing.
Without the ability to use Cn language in keyboard this has very limited functionality for me.
I see it is a feature of a stock Samsung C8 device.
Cheers

Quite correct, but like me, the poster wants to add it to the keypad.
Ie, convert the keypad to be able to use Chinese language.
I know this is a 2 year old psot, but just curious if yu have achieved this?
FYI: I am unable to find any option to add a language in keypad setting and no Asian languages are preset. (excluding Vietnamese)

Hello, did you ever find a way to fix this?
Just install GKeyboard from Google play and set it as default input
Hello @ar_156, thanks for taking the time to write.
I am Guessing in GKeyboard the G stands for Google.
So it might likely work, as it does in my Galaxy C8 stock Chinese for which there is no known mod.
But I do not run any Google products including Pay Store.
That sort of defeats the entire purpose of running a Mod Lineage ROM, I may as well just run the stock Google Android.
Hopefully an update soon will restore the Lineage usefulness for me.
Cheers

Thanks again for your idea.
I located the APK , downloaded but it reports back : "APP not installed."
I tried it multiple times from multiple sources - no joy.
Do you or does anyone have any idea why it keeps failing please?
In a similar vein, I thought that an earlier version of Lineage OS ( I'm running 18.1 now) came with a note taking APP?
Is there one for the current version please?
Thx
Gboard - the Google Keyboard
or use TouchPal Keyboard, it wil let you install Chinese Traditional or Simplified input.
GBoard requieres some Google elements, maybe your chinese device does not allow it, your best bet is TouchPal Keyboard, I am using it, too.

Hiya @ar_156 thanks very much for that .
Issue is very likely device related, but haha, you maybe read too much CNN!
Nothing to do with location, I suspect G/board will fail anywhere.
Since posting I had a flashback to another APP that gave the same error message. Turned out it was a 64 bit APP - Note 3 is only 32~
Once I found a 32 bit APP it installed no issues. Sadly, G/board seems not to have a 32 bit option.
I have a newer 64 bit Galaxy C8 but can't find a custom ROM for that so for now I am stuck with the Note 3 and 32 bits~
I'll giveTouchpal a try many thanks.
Saturday Sept 24th.
Hello again @ar_156 , a quick follow up. f
I found the ads on Touchpal a bit distracting.
However, your tip re Gboard IS the answer for anyone who is having the same issue .
BUT - it must be the ARM (32 bit ) version, available ex Softpedia.
Probably others as well.
However, one MUST search for the arm version, there are at least 3.
The default download is 64 bit and will fail every time.
I now have Gboard up, seems to run OK. So thank you , hope this follow up helps someone, somewhere, sometime.
Cheers
