Does Pixel C handle games well? - Pixel C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Plan to buy one but I am a little worried about the Tegra cpu on it. It has a very large GPU i know however i did see somebody mentioned that they experienced fc while playing games. I mostly play Clash Royale and coc. Does anybody play that and with Pixel C, do you still experience a noticeable lag or screen freeze when CR turned into elixir * 2 or overtime? I experienced a more severe lag on my nexus 6p than on my z2 tablet.

on the n preview, it handles emulators perfectly, even the resource hogs like ppsspp and drastic. on the other hand, some games like word streak crash instantly, but that's probably just an n thing.

Asphalt 7: The Heat

Now that It's finally out, I was wondering if you guys started playing and if so how's the game play for you?
So far for me it's not as smooth as asphalt 6 was, it lags a here and there and the controls aren't as responsive as I want it to be.

I've played both for quite a while, and I find that Asphalt 6 was refined a little more. My experience however on Asphalt 7 doesn't seem to be nothing less than smooth. I guess it's because of the kernel and ROM I am currently using that makes it seem smooth. but you are right. Asphalt 6 handles much better. Asphalt 7 seems like it wasn't very well optimized. I played it on my iPad and it runs much better, which doesn't make sense considering our device has so much more power.
Lags and frame drops a lot. Played asph6 to make sure it wasn't an issue with my underclocking the cpu but asph6 ran lly smooth as usual.
I gave asph7 5 stars but I hope they optimize the game for s3 Snapdragon soon.

I found it very smooth when I played it (though it could be due to the fact of being overlooked), but my main quirk so far with this and 6 are the controls. I can never stand them and it upsets me that there's little customization for it (still find real racing to be my favorite racing game on a mobile device). Otherwise graphics are amazing and the levels and cars look fantastic.

[Q] Overheating with 2d games

I've searched and couldn't find anything related to this problem, so I decided to make a new thread.
I noticed my HOX runs pretty hot (around 50C) when playing 2d games like Final Fantasy Dimension, Dungeon Village etc.
Aparently it runs hotter than playing 3d graphic intensive games like Chaos Ring, and uses more battery too, around 1% per minute.
Anyone else noticed this too? Any suggestions on how to fix it?
I noticed this both on Viper room and now on Paranoid Android on my sig.
Thanks for the inputs!
htc overheating
Right ! if playing games have the power save on !, just played real racing 3 on my 42" tv with hdmi over an hour and a case on , my htc one x gets warm but no over heat, give it a try power save on work for me no overheat...

I've been playing with power save on and now doesn't get as hot as before

Insane Throttling While Phone Is Being Charged!

Now I don't usually play games or do much serious work when I charge the phone but for last few days I was playing this game called Two Dots while the phone was being charged, and I noticed this insane amount of throttling (lag), the game becomes almost impossible to play. Anyone else noticed this? Touching the phone isn't hot much, in fact considering its a metal phone the temperature is rather great even when charging, but why on earth this much performance drops I wonder!
Hmmm....might be an app specific thing. One of the main things I love about the Pixel vs the 6P is exactly that the Pixel does not throttle when charging. Freaking 6P was almost useless when charging.
Charging creates heat heat causes the CPU to throttle thus making your phone slow down try playing the games without charging the phone

Thermal Throttling in Games

Hey all..
Anyone experiencing thermal Throttling while playing games for a long period? I play long hours of pubg and mobile legends on my pixel 3 xl and after 20 mins, the phone crawls to a very low fps (under 30 for sure). Using a mobile phone attachment gamepad with cooling fans eliminates this problem
I live in tropical country, where the weather is around 28-35C. My previous phones, including pixel 2 xl, sometimes experiencing this but not as pronounced.
Is there anyway to ease up on the throttling by flashing custom kernels?

I usually dont play on mobile games, recently i installed assassin's creeds rebellion, on the phone and it runs smoothly without any cpu throttling
Yes, some custom kernels have different values in where thermal throttling kicks in. I remember there was also a Magisk mod that does the same. If you don't want to go that route you could always opt for playing with voltages and lowering clock speeds (probably not the most ideal solution). If you are hardcore you could take the phone apart and change out the thermal compound that would definitely help. Honestly is there a reason why if you already have a working solution with the gamepad that has fans? Do you have prolonged gaming sessions when you're out and about and don't want to use the attachment? If no I wouldn't bother doing anything I mentioned and just stay as is!
Sold my not pink pixel 3 xl at the same price as I got it lol. Bought one clearly white, same throttling... So it's definitely not a defect.
Problem with the cooling gamepad is that it's too bulky and not convenient to bring everywhere..
So sad.. Pixel 2 xl was definitely better in sustained performance

Sadly it's just how the heat dissipation will be by design. The Pixel 2 has better heat dissipation since the body is made of metal vs glass so it has the advantage there already. Google could rectify this by using better thermal paste or even adding say a graphite cooling pad in there to help heat dispersion. If you're into hardcore mobile gaming and it's your main passion I would say go get the Asus ROG phone. Or stay with what you have and unfortunately just deal with decreased performance until you can sit around with the attachment .

In-game performance issues. But why?!

Hi there! I have a Galaxy Tab S4, as you can imagine. I use it as my gaming device. The only game I play is Rues Of Survival. And well, Among us, but I don't even take it into consideration as a demanding game.
The tablet is not rooted but I debloated it with adb as far as I could. Android 10 on board.
Probably this crappy game became so poorly optimized that the performance degraded over time.
Now I am at a point where it's pretty unplayable even if I lower the resolution.
Let's see what I have tried so far.
I have checked the usage of CPU, GPU, temp and FPS with the game launcher plug-in. I have an average of 60 FPS with an average CPU usage of 8% and an average GPU usage of 80%. The problem occurs during crowded scenes. The FPS drop to 30, making the whole thing sutter really hard, the CPU usage stays the same and the GPU usage drops to 60%. WHY THE HECK?!
I have tried a couple of different resolutions (the game does not specifically states to how many pixels correspond each d*mn option) with close to no improvements. The graphics got really ugly, obviously.
Should I try to root and disable DVFS? Should I root and lower the resolution of the whole tablet to a normal fullHD with terminal? Should I stop complaining? Should I quit playing? Should I get a new tablet?
It seems pretty absurd that a game that I was able to play on my Galaxy S6, now got so demanding. Or that a 500 euros tablet aged so badly in two years.
Are those 2 free GB of ram out of 4 not enough to handle the game?
I can play it quite flawlessly on my OnePlus Nord. But this is NOT an option. The hardware specs of the two devices should be comparable. What mostly changes are the screen resolution (lower on the OP Nord) and the ram size (double on the OP Nord).
I doesn't try that game, but I played others (pubg (highers settings), stardew valley, this war of mine... etc), and I have not had problems at all. I'm stock. Have you try game booster?
