make sure you back up everything
you will need the sprint voicemail apk search for it here on xda
get the quick shorcut maker( playstore)open apk search for phone 3 phone files will show up click the 3rd one scroll down to data roaming make a shorcut and make sure data roaming is set to your liking
make sure you have a stock rom on storage I had an issue once it was all my fault flashing all kinds of things anyways I lost all data and signals none of my backups worked I tried re flashing port and i could't get signal or data to work only thing that worked was flashing stock rom (thanks tx_dbs_tx)

Would this work on Roms based on AOSP such as the Dirty Unicorns 10.0 ROM?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/rom-dirty-unicorns-10-0-t3331009

Not sure but if I was going to do it I would pull framework jar and apk from an aosp rom that already works on sprint
I know the sprint zip came from a cm tread
The data fix is where I wouldn't have a clue if it works on an aosp rom
For kernel I would go with emotion

What ROMs do you know that are working for sure? I've been reading around the T-Mobile forums and some say it has to be on a certain baseband. Does this matter?

Yes. Absolutely. everything matters. You can't simply flash a T-mobile or Verizon Note 4 rom on our sprint note 4 and it work. not gonna happen. Especially roms built specifically for GSM networks and different hardware/chipsets. These things are critical and there's no exceptions. If you want to flash a Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile or other international rom on the sprint Note 4 SM-N910P then you're gonna have to do more than swap out the framework.jar and framework-res. I guarantee it. Don't fall for the okey doke stuff! :silly:

Flashing other device roms

So a friend of mine told me i could flash roms from other carriers is this true? He has the gs3 from t mobile but i don't want to flash a rom from t mobile if it could possibly brick or cause problems.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
He's wrong. Unless a ROM is ported, it runs a risk of being incompatible and could potentially brick your phone. Even then, a ported ROM may come with certain bugs &/or stability issues.
This is especially true for ROMS intended for the International GS3.
ROM - OdexedBlue
Baseband - LJ7
Kernel - Stock LI3

.Not true. May come with bugs but flashing roms for another US variant of the S3 is safe just make sure there are no modems in it. As long as its for a US Gs3 than its safe. Open the zip and if all you see is META-INF,system and boot.img you will be fine flashing it. Bugs can be expected tho and your screen orientation in landscape mode will probably be flipped. The part about the intl version is true tho. Dont flash those.

Here is a good example: there is a note 2 ROM that is said to be usable across all carriers posted in the dev section. However many users see a lot of bugs with flashing it (signal drops is a big one). Phone works, just not as expected or usefuly.

Not a good example as the note 2 has many differences and is alot harder to port(hence the instability). Theres alot to change like screen size, a different processor etc. This will at least run and data will probably work but its not guaranteed. It will not brick you though.

That's good to know. I knew about the baseband part already, but got the rest of my information from reading the sticky thread in Android Development about how not to brick your phone. I've flashed a tmo kernel (Morfic's Trinity) and experienced excellent results - right up until I tried taking ng a picture and discovered that the auto rotate was reversed and everything was upside down in landscape.
ROM - OdexedBlue
Baseband - LJ7
Kernel - Stock LI3

So if the auto rotation is backwards is there a way to fix that? Or is it something you would just have to deal with? I like some of the t mobile roms he uses but if its buggy i probably won't even bother. How can you tell if it is an international rom or us?

If there is a modem in the zip woukd it be safe to just remove it and flash a sprint modem after the initial rom flash or transfer a sprint modem into the zip file prior to a flash? Where would the "META INF" file be located to verify the flash would work?

META-INF is a folder at the base of the zip. If there is a modem you can remove it and replace with a sprint one to make it easier. You could also remove it but that might require a edit to the updater-script and that can be a pain in the ass if ur not real familiar with the process. If you choose to remove it then flashing another is not needed since itll be untouched. but as said probably easiest to just replace. I recommend 7zip if u need to do that

[IDEA] Port international firmware/ROM's to T-Mobile Note 2?

Considering the similarities between the domestic variants of the Note 2 and their international counterparts, would anyone be willing to test some of the success that the folks over in the AT&T forum have had with porting the international N7100/N7105 firmware/ROM's over to the T-Mobile Note 2
Check out these two threads over in the AT&T forum and see what you all think:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016575
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018411
The basic gist of the procedure is to use a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP to flash a stock N7100/N7105 firmware, and then flash your carrier specific modem/kernel.
Why would anyone want to do this? Well, for starters, you would benefit from built-in stock-supported tethering, and a few other features that carriers disable (YMMV). But mainly this means that the domestic versions of the Note 2 can benefit from the development of the international versions! So, when the latest version of Android comes out for the rest of the world, we aren't stuck here waiting for our carrier to catch up to everyone else...
So what do you all think? Anyone willing to try?

Actually, there is a port of cm10 for the ATT Note 2 device, it was ported from the official cm10 for the N7100 device by madmack. I'm running it on the T-Mobile Note 2 and to tell you the truth, it is very stable so far even if it's coming from a nightly build. Check out this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024495.
Once you go to that link, go to page 24 or 25 because you need to download 3 zip files in order for the rom to function correctly, also make sure to download the modem or radio because you need to flash that as well. Before you flash anything make sure to go to the OP for that rom and follow instructions thoroughly. If you're concerned for the S Pen functionality, don't worry, it works, I just had to download an app from the play store called Memo (which doest the same stuff as S Note.
Well if you wanna try, I don't have the time but .....
Here is some stuff to help you..
Do a Nandroid backup. or Titanium backup.
Do a full wipe,
Flash the rom you want, if given the option don't flash the modem
then flash Jedi-X Kitchen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106549
Then if you had to flash another Modem for that Rom then flash http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote2/tmoroms/JediX/T889V_Modem.zip if that fist your PHONE (tmO)
I may do a video on it in Youtube if i get time but the omega rom was just taking too long to download so i am not trying it tonight.
I am going to flash Jedi X

I just tried this, and while the Omega ROM flashed just fine, I had no radio signal, no data, no calls, and the phone would not recognize my SIM Card. That is after flashing the Jedi Kitchen and the radio provided in the link.
The Omega ROM looks pretty awesome, it would be nice to have it working on TMO Note II's.
Disclaimer:
I have to admit, I've flashed 4 different ROM's so far, and only two of them have completed the install. The rest have failed during the update, or caused a boot cycle. This includes the Jedi Master ROM. So it's entirely possible I'm doing something wrong.

It is actually posted in the n7100 that all roms need to be ported to us carriers and gives procedures on how to do so

Hey did you ever try a complete wipe using TWRP as your recovery factory wiping then system wiping as well, I Also found depending on your SD card if you can back up your Sd cards Sometimes it is helpful to start with just the files you need to flash on the sd. Make sure that you only flash the correct radio. For me that was the latest radio I think its the second down in the list for the jedi kitchen part.
Feel free to contact me but I am very busy so I apologize ahead of time for being slow.
Can anyone answer if 4G and LTE is still working or is it 3G only? Are you able to still roam the same?

[How-To] Port Your TW ROM to All Major US Carriers

This guide has already been used twice (and possibly four times) to break xda rules. I will not enable that.
Sorry everyone. Thread closed.
I have flashed ATT TW AND AOSP roms for my Tmobile out of the box and it works. I then change the build.prop with root explorer.
Going to give this a try this weekend. It's a dumb question but could I use this to say port a Sprint ROM to my AT&T phone ? Just a straight port over but just changing the things you list here ?

I can't say for sure, but it should work just fine.
Though I must admit, Sprint is the worst choice you could make for your first port attempt. You could have problems with both libs and kernels.
And I still haven't figured out how to get MMS working on my Sprint port.

It will take much more than what is listed in the OP. I am not sure I have ever seen a ROM ported from Europe to the US (or the other way around).
As you mentioned, the processor and radios are different, but so are the system partitions. Anything is possible, but I think that would be a huge amount of work.
If you try this please be very careful. Many, many users have bricked their devices flashing a ROM from across the pond.

Hey all, I was hoping to get some assistance on an issue that myself and stratatak7 have been having. We're trying to port the Intergalactic ROM over to VZW. Following this guide, I was able to get it to boot and everything is functional including calling and texts, but we cannot get any mobile data. We've gone as far as replacing the kernel with a vzw kernel and replacing the modules in Intergalactic with modules from a vzw rom but mobile data refuses to work. I would be grateful for any suggestions because it seems that we are at a loss. Thanks

OK, I apologize for having to ask this, but are you sure you followed all the steps correctly? I have to ask because my ROMs are the same version Intergalactic. Also, are you sure you grabbed the files from a VZW BLK3 ROM? Libs are the most important for data.
I have attached the files I use for my VZW port. I would change nothing except the ROM name in the build.prop for now and see how that goes. The eri.xml is compiled, so you can just add the file to framework-res with 7Zip. I started adding the csc files recently, but I don't think they really make a difference.

Ditto Note 4 (DN4) Rom for sgh-i317

I flahed this rom http://electron-team.com/dn4.html on my AT&T Galaxy Note 2 and i loved it! smooth and fast. but i cant find a radio/modem thats compattible with it. i practically did everything trying to make it work: extracting modems from other stock firmwares, flashing UCUCNE5 modem, restoring efs back ups...
i dnt knw if its the 4.4.4 version, but i guess its for the GT-N7100 only.
so an patiently waiting and hoping for the devs to make this rom available for us i317 users
if there any any thoughts about the DN4 rom for sgh-i317, post them here :good:
Ok man. Sounds great.
I'm about to think that all Galaxy Note are the same expecting Radio firmware. Gonna give it a try on the n7105.

No GSM / 3g / 4g (wifi works)
No stylus recognition.
Runs smooth by the way.
Hi Prezzi,
So I have the AT&T Note II SGH-i317 version and I am thinking of updating the ROM to RN4 by Electron-Team. However, I would like to hear from you if it's working fine or not since the E-Team are stating that this ROM update is for the n7100 version only.
You mentioned that you can't find a radio/modem that is compatible with SGH-i317, what effects does that have on the phone? Does this mean you cannot access 3G/4G network now?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I'll try and explain it to you so you understand a bit better. Porting n7100 to the s3 is very easy as the framework is almost identical (I could do it in 10 mins). Porting n2 lte variants to s3lte or verizon is very easy framework is almost identical. Samsung in they're infinite wisdom decided to completely change the lte variants framework after 4.1. AFAIK only one person has managed to port between lte and none lte variants and that was the s3 and s3lte. To get dn4 work in on our device requires completely rewriting the framework which is why no one wants to do it. The eteam are very busy with work atm so it's been left to me and bajanman to rewrite the framework. We have done 2 of the 5 folders needed and will try to do the rest. It might happen it might never happen. Editing smali is not easy especially when you don't understand it lol. The eteam are actual developers not chefs like most so called devs. Anyone can make a rom with a kitchen you don't even need linux anymore.

Im using DN3 v5 on my sgh-i317m canadian variant note 2 everything is great it run fast and smooth I like this rom alot. I have flashed a few different roms and this one is my favorite by far. I tried to flash DN4 it was successful other then it didnt read/recognize my sim card I asked me to install a sim I tried to go in to the settings and see if I could change my apn for my provider telus/koodo but it wouldnt let me access the apn due to the no sim did I do something wrong during flash? Or do I have to download something to get it to work with my provider?
The DN4 rom only works with the n7100 version only.
yes the ROM works fine! smooth and runs well.
but since the modem is not meant for i317, there will be no 3g/4g network, so u wont be able to make calls or anything pertaining to mobile network. still waiting to see if someone will port it to the LTE varients
note2 to note4
hi guys i dont remember where i get this flashable, but it has the 4.4.4 towchwiz with t0lte rid and radio, so, i think it could help porting dn4.... i will send you a link to download by PM im sorry i cant post outside links yet.
im so sorry about my english...
The place
Just wanted to be sure this is the place to be with the i317 variant? I know the original file was made for 7100, but hopefully it can be ported to the i317 model.
Evethough I don't have the 7100 I flashed it, just to see whats on it. Some exciting stuff! It really felt like a Note 4! Great work guys! I will check in hoping to one day find the i317 is ready to go. For now I will just use another great ROM DN3 5.2.
Im not understanding everyones trouble with running DN4 on the sgh-317 because i have now been running it on mine with full network, features, and stylus support. Its actually really smooth and enjoyable to use. There is a whole thread on it in the n7105 forum. I do know people where having trouble flashing all the updates and having them take but there is a custom CWM recovery that fixed all of that. Hope this helps give hope.

Ita been running very smooth, great battery life, and no reboots or network issues either.
I just followed this post in the N7105 section http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/development-n7105/addon-dn4-n7105-v1-0-31-12-t2988848 which also works with the sgh-317. At first i had trouble flashing everything and getting it to stick but someone posted in the thread linking to a custom CWM recovery that made it flash and boot properly.
Hope that helps you. If you have trouble i can make a step by step of what i did exactly.

The recovery problem was fixed in his latest update. You can use anythng now. If you read the 1st post, he mentions it several times. Be sure to follow all instructions and it should flash fine.

Thanks Again I will Be giving It a Try Later Today.
Question i ha e about dn4 gor the att ote 2 is in developer options i cant find the option to enable ART wanted to enable it and see if gra itynox will work with this rom
Sent from my SM-N910C using XDA Free mobile app
Flashed from my I-317 DN5 V2. Confirmed it's working. The FM radio has been removed though I think it's because of the bug reported in original post for 7100. Couple minor things don't work such as dual clock digital in the widgets but i doesn't bother me. Overall, it's smooth and stable as the DN5V2 sofar.

Extreme Syndicate ROM Discussion Thread

Hey Everyone!
I am at it again! I have made leaps today with my custom ROM.
It is not ready for release just yet but wanted to get a thread started for when it is ready, to get some opinions and further clarification.
Required:
1) Any G930 US Variant
2) Must be on the G930U PEH firmware prior to my ROM
3) Rooted with Flashfire
4) I highly recommend you know how to push apks. It will start out lightly debloated but will be extremely debloated by the time I finish!
What will it contain in v1?
1) Pre rooted
2) Debloated
3) Xposed
4) V4A
5) Might be missing stuff for v1, wait and see!
Suggestions?
Please post early suggestions below. They might not be considered for build 1 but will all beconsidered as we go.
Questions?
1) Maybe someone can chime in but to my knowledge the U firmware will work on any US variant S7? I am asking for clarification since my reasoning of using the U firmware is for it to be useable on all US variants to avoid having to develop for every variant separately (I dont have time for this.)

1. Will you provide links to or host a copy of the G930U PEH firmware?
2. I suppose that since this is the universal firmware, Verizon's Mobile Hotspot provisioning will not prevent us from using Native Mobile Hotspotting....can you confirm...and if not, can you apply a a modded version of the Mobile Hotspot software that bypasses the provisioning (similar to what psouza has done with his VZW debloat script for PE1)

1) I am going to use a rom.zip but you will still need the eng boot to have root i believe so odin 930U then root usig eng boot then flash my ROzm in FF
2) his rom is in the vzw s7e forum
Is the goal here to remedy the battery life issues and CPU hangs that the eng boot/root process created? I'm excited!

The zips provided by psouza are for the PE1 build only. He mentioned somewhere in his thread that it has to be compiled for each build.

I recommend you check out my other rom threads to see what the goal is..
essentially I shoot for an extremely debloated rom which typically does include better speed and battery life but that is more of a side effect imo

Not necessarily. some of it does work.. ideally however i like to bake things in.. the less zips to flash the better.. i wont worry too much as i dont release roms that dont work well to begin with

The fix/fix+debloat zip that disable Verizon's Wi-Fi hotspot tethering provisioning does so by writing a modified framework-res.apk to the device, therefor it needs to match the firmware version. The patch is not complicated though (it's literally just changing/clearing two XML values), so anyone could decompile a different version, patch the xml, recompile, re-sign, and bundle that for any Verizon firmware version.

Gotcha.. its not my top priority to be honest but its not difficult to do so ill most likely do it
I can confirm the U firmware works flawlessly on a G930V. I have also flashed @jrkruse's PlayStore ROM on my G930V, and it works great!
@elliwigy, I have used your ROMs in the past. Needless to say, I'm excited to see you are making one for the Verizon S7!

When does the FC happen exactly? I've had this issue when modifying ROMs, so I might be able to help.
