you have to unzip it there is a foxmod folder in the zip file put it in TWRP/backups/HT4ATSK00191/ the HT4ATSK00191 part might be different for you let me know what yours is so i know if its unique to the device or the same on all 612s and make sure your showing the drive you put it on C:

if it dont work go through the steps to reproduce it (from installing the rom) so i can try to recreate it on my end

i did not see if after donig a factory reset myself so im unsure whats causing it did you install that GSM patch? it might not get along with HTC sense or something verizon has in there i havent found yet

@fennectech,
I applied the GSM patch but im still not getting a signal although I have USSD codes.
I have restarted, factory reset and all but i'm still getting the error. I have reinstalled the ROM and am getting the same results
Please note I got the errors before I applied the GSM patch.
Something else, the camera is gone, not working
Can I request something from you, Please back up one stock ROM of a 612 and share it with me, I'd rather go back to stoc.k. My backup is messy Thank you for your noble work

I am trying to install it as well. I have TWRP installed with a 2.8.7 recovery image and when I try to peform a backup, it only brings me back to the fastboot menu. Never does an actual backup. So, therefore, there is no TWRP/backups folder to put the files in. I have tried doing a restore as well using the image but not luck. It tells me it's going to reboot but same thing, it just reboots to the fastboot menu. It is rooted and S-Off already using Sunshine
Any suggestions?

[Q] {Q} My market app disappeared....

Yes I searched, but every thread dealt with an EVO that was running a ROM. I am just unrooted, and I don't have a back up to reflash to. I am just trying to figure out how to get it back, and why it is gone.
Thanks for the help in advance. I know this is probably basic stuff for you guys so thanks for hanging in there with me.
OE
When did it dissapear? Need some background info
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on the IPhone. We now have the Htc Evo.
Idk, maybe over night. I just tried to open it up this morning. I have a shortcut on my home screen. And it says item no longer installed. And its not in all apps area either. I did run a new update yesterday, think it has to deal with that?
If you have a file manager (astro, androzip, etc) you can just get an apk and install it.
If not, backup your current ROM and flash a new one to install the market again.
I ran into this problem too and I don't remember how. Hopefully you have a file manager, because I didn't and it was a mess haha
It happened to me, I used my backip pro, wiped and reinstalled all my apps. There were multiple apps missing, they were still in my data/app folder but for some reason the weren't installed, and when I did install them there a -1 after the file name. So I was getting duplicate files. So yea back up, wipe, reinstall if its bugging you. Nice truck BTW.
I do indeed have astro. Where could I find the apk for marketplace?
And I had a Hero before and there were obvious reasons to rom/overclock it (slow) any good Roms for EVO?

Thanks a bunch!
The number one cause for the market issues right now are when they did the OTA update for this new market it placed it in the data/app directory and most all custom roms and themers put it in system/app (Vending.apk). If you had it in the system/app and now have one in the data/app folder as well... it then plays hide and seek with you and disappears. You can search for something called vending-1 (I believe) and delete it from data/app if you want to install a custom themed market or delete the Vending.apk out of system/app if you want the stock.
Here is fernando sor's custom themed market where this issue has been driving everyone crazy.

sorry for being a newb but I went to back up with nandroid, and I can't find a nandroid. Are the Hero and Evo a lot different with that side of things?
Sorry.
Are you using RA Recovery or Clockwork? What rom are you on?
I dont know what either of those mean, and I am factory ROM. Thats why I can't figure out why its gone.
OP, have you tried flashing the latest Gapps? You can find them in Lithid's Rapidshare folder in his CM7 thread. Alternatively, you can just push a vending.apk via ADB as other have suggested.

I believe he did state that hes not rooted, if I interpreted his OP correctly. Thus he has no custom recovery or nand backups or anything of the such. He is stock, un modified. So with that said, I personally have no clue where his market app went. To OP, when you go to menu/settings/applications /manage applications, and go to the "all" tab, is your market in there? If so, what choices do you have when you select it?

In order to flash a rom, you would first need to root the phone, and get s off. In my opinion, the easiest way is to use unrevoked, you just need to make sure to use the correct hboot drivers and properly install them, all available from the unrevoked site. Once you're rooted, you can make a full nandroid backup using a custom recovery. As far as making a backup while you're still stock, im not sure of the best way to backup. Sorry I have no links, im on the app at the moment, but a search should get you going.

I am rooted, I used z4 root. I just can't figure out how to do a back up. It seems that the hero was much easier to navigate in the android menu.

[Q] Insufficient Storage?

I'm using a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 rooted but running standard stock rom. Today I noticed a version of SuperUser for update on the playstore. After downloading it my device gave me the error "insufficient storage on device". I have 9gb of internal free, and 32gb on my SD Card. (still haven't figured out how to install stuff to my SD card... i'm a noob ).
I haven't done anything to alter the rom that I can think of. I installed the updated apk for Playstore but read to uninstall the update and give it a try. No success. Also to note, Angry Birds Space which is 22mb downloaded and installed after the error was popping up. So it just seems to be superuser.
Thanks
For future reference , you can NOT install apps to the sd card. Its internal memory or nothing.
Also if superuser won't install but other apps will then there is some leftover in android/data.
Delete it and it should install.

Thank you for the reply! However I am kind of lost as to what you mean leftovers in android/data.
using myfiles go to
/mnt/sdcard/android/data
once there , delete anything having to do with superuser.
That should do the trick. Should. The reason why is once you uninstalled superuser sometimes it doesn't remove every component. This will.
Leaving you free to install the new apk.
Sadly I don't see anything with Super User there. I even attempted to do a Cache wipe from CWM recovery. Still nothing.
Use root explorer and go to /system see how much space is used up in the system folder. It could be that is the issue.

I don't understand this reasoning. I picked up the 16GB Galaxy at the store because 32GB was only available on line.
Would a future custom ROM be able to fix this?

If you rooted using this (no tripping the flash counter) method, there was a problem with system size on the original. Just need to do it again with the updated files.
Still having the issue popping up. Here are a couple screen shots. Also my root was the first method that did trip it. I have since removed root because of the issue. Still persists though.

If so, did you see the update from 66 to 67 due to possible system size issues?
I just put 67 on and now I have super user again, however simple apps like the weather channel still give me that error. Thank you for helping me with this, too. I'm going crazy over it!
any fix on this?
I am having the exact same issue. Been running on my AT&T rooted Galaxy S3:
Andriod 4.0.4
Kernel Version 3.0.8
Build: Diet ICS v7.11.12
Several weeks, no issues.
This morning I went to install 2 updates and each update said "Insufficient Storage".
I can not download any updates or new apps without getting this error.
If I uninstall an app, I can not re-install it without getting the same error "Insufficient Storage".
I have cleared the cache and data under Google play store app info
I have gone into recovery mode, cleared cache and dalvik cache.
Nothing is working.
Any help would be much appreciated

If I was in your shoes, I would just delete it to make sure everything goes smoothly... it might not be necessary to delete, but just to be safe.
I just installed the update and its sweet.

Guy's i am rooted and i have attempted to install the Google wallet on my device but have failed several times mad. But i still have the files that have been merged into my /system/data partition (nfc files) and when i tried updating my device earlier today i get it to 25% on the AT&T black logo screen and it said Failed then reboots. Many people who have just root and and are on complete stock have been able to update, but i havent. I am thinks two different things right now 1) Root (impossible, others have had success) and 2) modified NFC files. Somehow or someway these are blocking the OTA update. BTW this what i get.

I too had this problem at first and was getting ready to just wipe my phone to go back to full stock but decided to try and reflash stock rom from sammobile. After that, I downloaded the update again. I let it run and behold, it completed successfully. Maybe I was lucky, but give that a shot and let me know if that worked for you. Now I just need to root and setup GW again.

Wooot explain????
You got stock without wiping (it didn't touch any of your files)???
And were you able to update (multi window)?
Lol one more ? Did it increase/decrease or bring them back to stock anything in download mode aka Odin mode, like "device status" under settings or "system status" in download mode?

Actually, I tried a few different things to get the update and I believe I went and did unroot, downloaded the update but it still failed. Then I went and downloaded the stock rom from sammobile & flashed via Odin. After the phone started up, everything was back to stock. My phone status still showed modified though.
Anyway, I downloaded the ota update again and let it run and was surprised that it got past 26% and completed.
I eventually hosed it up while trying to setup GW again and wound up wiping the phone because I kept getting nfc service force closed and when I rebooted it got stuck in a boot loop.

1. Download the file onto your phone
2. rename it from a .cfg to a .zip (not sure if this is necessary)
3. Use some sort of root file explorer to copy the zip file into the /cache directory. (I used es file explorer with root privaledges).
4. Boot phone into recovery mode by powering off and then holding (vol up + power + home)
5. Choose the apply update via cache option and select the downloaded zip.
6. Some terminal crap will spew out and eventually the phone will restart.
7. Let it boot and soon you'll see the "android is upgrading"
I can confirm that multiwindows works after forcing the update. The flash counter is not modified by rooting and applying the update.
Good luck everyone and enjoy your multiwindows updates . Also screw ATT for making me wait while my girlfriend brags about chatting and watching movies simultaneously.

25-30% on the AT&T update black logo screen and it said "Update Failed" then reboots
So i manually flashed the file thru stock recover with the steps hyjkim provided and got this:
Only to find out exactly why...
Here is the error code example that i got.
Code:
assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/app/Nfc.apk", "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx", "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx")
E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
It seems that the updates check the SHA-1 hashes of the apk under /system/app and as well under /system/libs
This doesn't have to happen with the Nfc.apk specifically...it could happen with any app in /system/app or in /system/lib
The first one is the hash of the .apk installed on your device.
The second one is the expected hash of the .apk that is expected (perhaps for security reasons)
Cause of this problem:
The reason why i get this (we) because the file was modified from the original state for it to work with Google Wallet.
Solution:
For those of us who messed around with the stock apk's and libs (Google Wallet users)
I have made a solution for the people who don't want to backup/reflash/restore all ur data (what can i say i am lazy)
The files are from the factory .md5 file in which i ripped out and went on a long journey to extract the system.img to get the system files (ur welcome)
Option: 1
Download the attachment below
place it on your sd-card (or some where easily accessible)
replace each file accordindly to the file contetnts (starting with Nfc.apk under "app" folder all the way to lib)
Make sure the permissions are set to rw-rw-r-- (on each file)
reboot (makinging sure its running fine)
Now you have 2 options upgrade via Settings app or Update in recovery (look above on the top of my post).
All should go well (worked for me)
Option: 2
reflash the the factory image thru Odin
Hoped i helped you

That explains why the flash to stock rom allowed me to get the update and install...too bad I hosed up the setup of GW after which led to me being stuck in a boot loop. Ended up wiping my phone anyway.
No regrets though because I was able to get my status to go back to normal again.

I stayed away from update. I have root and cwm. Inspired by the att update, I looked around and found clean Rom, and recommend anyone hesitant in downloading the update from att to get this Rom. This has everything including a better battery life and more snappy home screen.
However I haven't gotten Google wallet working, I will probably use the Verizon method.
Good luck!

I finally got myself out of the hole in this one, hopefully i can do the same for others...

After you revert the files back to stock and update. Then you can repeat the installing process of GW again.

Working Tap and Pay In Google Wallet

Ok so I can now confirm that Tap and Pay in google Wallet can work.
Just used it and am Drinking Redbull Purchased from 7-Eleven 10 mins ago.
I used the attached modified APK ( done by Loserskater) from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45710314&postcount=3276
Quick step by step
I am using EclipticOne Rom
1 Go to Manage apps and delete all data for installed wallet app
2 Used Titanium to uninstall app since it is a system app.
3 Reboot to recovery and wipe Dalvik Cache (and as safety measure I also wiped Cache not sure it's ness)
4 Used ES file explorer (root explorer will do the job as well) And Moved modded apk to system/app and changed permissions to rw- r-- r--
5 reboot phone
6 open wallet let it do its thing And when finished top box on screen said setup Tap and Pay so i did so. ( should mention I already have wallet acct and used on S3 previously so did not need to add or pick a card)
7 app said setting up tap and pay this will take several minutes. Closed app set phone down did other things for about 10mins. Came back opened app said tap and pay is setup !!!!
8 went to settings>about and saw Device is ready for tap and pay purchases under the Tap And Pay heading.
9 closed app and updated via play store since current version is 14 not 9 like modded apk
10 reboot Profit !!! Ran to store got redbull for busy night ahead
Again this MOD is not mine it was done by Loserskater
I should mention I have a the NFC sim from Verizon. Not sure if it is required would need input from those without it. I suspect it is as it supposedly has a secure element of its own.
P.S. Do not Log out of Wallet after update it will likely stop working if you do
Wow its actually says it works... Will update when I actually try it out. Thanks man. Oh and I'm also using EclipticONE.

I had the same error with ES and used Root Browser to successfully move the apk and change the permissions.

Just verified that this method does NOT work on the stock rom. I'm probably going to hold out for a Venom release but just wanted to verify that this does not work on stock.
I was under the impression that the secure element in the SIM card could not be used for Wallet but if you have it running successfully, that's awesome.

Did the app say that tap and pay was set up and ready to use? I'm on stock rom and it says it is ready to go but I haven't tried it out yet. I will walk down to the store in a little bit to try it out.

On first use of ES you need to go to tools root explorer and set it to mount system as rw (read and write ) not RO (read only )
then should be able to do it with no problem
But ES is not required Root explorer does same thing i just prefer ES
Confirmed to work on stock rom. Just used it at 7-eleven.

Looks like it's not the app but Google has finally updated the app itself. Just downloaded from the market and everything is working when tap and pay.
I'm having a problem now. I installed it on Vanir, worked perfectly.. Installed a nightly build which had force close problems so I reinstalled my ROM, which in turn uninstalled wallet, tried the exact same method as before, yet tap to pay is gone. Any ideas?

This is not true for verizon users, unless you change your prop.build manually prior to downloading from market. Essentially telling the app its a different phone

You will probably need to go to wallet on your pc and deactivate your device. Then retry making sure to wipe data from the app prior to uninstalling it. Do a full reboot then continue
I have been able to install the modfied app by flashing it right after flashing a rom (before reboot)

For those of you having trouble copying the app. Either open a terminal emulator or connect to your computer (preferred) and run adb shell.
Enter following command to mount system read/write and allow copy:
"mount -o remount,rw /system"
Copy the file either via shell or es file explorer.
Reboot or type: "mount -o remount,ro /system" to make sure system is read only again.
After reboot, run wallet and follow OP instructions.
I've got my phone set up and tap and pay activated. Works like a charm. I DO NOT have a NFC sim. I have my original SIM from my Thunderbolt cut down.

Was having issues with it working properly. It would copy for me, and install the app w Reboot, but 'Tap and Pay' wasn't working (even though devices showed it as a GNex).
In order to get rid of everything (I had previously tried to install it) I had to:
Install the app from the play store
THEN clear the cache/data
THEN uninstall it (I did NOT use Ti for this, I deleted it from system/apps and data/apps using Root Explorer)
I also cleared the device from Google Wallet online (Disable > Remove)
I think the prior version I tried to install had some lingering data that was bad? Who knows. Didnt really want to deal with a factory reset though..
I did NOT use the APK from this thread, I used the one from here: Method 3 - AOSP. I dont think that matters.
Worked fine after that by copying the APK then reboot. (did not wipe dalvik/cache! Though Im not sure that really matters either.)
I havent tested it in a store yet, but I cant imagine Ill run into any issues.
Running:
S-Off, Root, Cyanogenmod 10.2
Stock HTC One SIM (So, not a "secure" VZW SIM if I understand correctly)
Hope this clears things up for anyone still having issues

Thanks!! This worked perfectly on VanirAOSP. Going to try to buy a drink at the vending machine and I will report back.
EDIT: Did not work on the vending machine. I have an NFC capable credit card and that worked fine so there is nothing wrong with the machine. Disappointing!

What's weird is that nothing happens when I tap to pay. The machine doesn't recognize any contact. On the previous Google Wallet mod a month or two ago, it would register the contact but the payment would fail.
What ROM are you using?

OTA update. What is lost and must be restored?

Forgive my ignorance again folks, but if I run this

update for instance, on a Sprint Galaxy S6 with rooted stock Marshmallow 6.1 rom and x-posed all setup and many modifications all over the place, what will happen? I know I'll lose root, but is it as simple as just re-rooting the same way I did already and all is back as it was, or will I have to un/reinstall x-posed and reconfigure all my customizations and all that too?
Thanks
Yes, you will return to stock, without any customizations and modifications. But if you are rooted and with a custom recovery (I am assuming that TWRP is installed) you won't be able to run the OTA. Your phone will detect the changes that you have made and not install the update. In order to update, you will need to download the TAR file and update manually. See my guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862
The good news is that the update from PJ1 to PK1 is minor and you can just skip it.

Thank you again sir for your kind help.
I'm glad because I have this thing right where I want it again. However, this then brings up a couple more questions. If you do it manually with the TAR file, does that remove root and all the customizations as well? Also, say the next one is important, Does it incorporate previous updates like this one, or will I have to do them in order?
Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

Yes, it removes all customizations. It won't uninstall your apps or delete data (unless you wipe that in recovery) but because it unroots your phone (is that a word? it should be!) any application that depends on root privileges will stop working. By way of example, if you have Greenify installed, that asks for root to work, when you lose root Greenify will still be installed but not working.
For your second question, you only need to do the latest update. That will bring you current.
A question that you didn't ask yet, but you would think of later. Once you have installed the latest update, it is difficult (not impossible) to go back.
Things that you can do to make your life easier. Use Titanium Backup (you will see it called TiBu also) to back up your apps, data and settings. It will help you when you do upgrade.

I have to ask though. How is this better than a SmartSwitch or TWRP backup, both of which I already have? Especially TWRP which is like a Ghost clone. I'm not arguing, I'm asking

If you upgrade your phone's system and then restore a TWRP backup, you lose the upgrade, because you are restoring a complete image.
You would only want to restore your apps, data and settings. Which is what TiBu will allow you to do.

Again , not to be argumentative, but isn't that what SmartSwitch does? And it can it to a PC directly. Actually does Titanium backup do that too?
