I can't install TWRP on my XPERIA M. - Sony Xperia M

Hey everyone, i'm new here, it's my first post, so please be forgiving just in case
My goal is to install custom ROM, so first I unlocked bootloader via Flashtool. It worked well.
Then I rooted the phone via KingRoot, it also worked well.
The next step I wanted to do was install the custom recovery (TWRP), so I installed TWRP Manager app and it failed
I installed it via Terminal Emulator app following the instructions on the twrp website and it kind of worked, but I can't get into TWRP...
Turning of the phone, holding the volume down button doesn't work. It's just booting the system. How to fix it? Maybe i'm booting to the recovery wrong?
Help me please, thanks in advance. And sorry for my bad english

Terminal Emulator: "su" then "reboot recovery"
OR power on the device and push Volume Up several times. Usually the LED turns blue and TWRP is booting.

So obviously it did not work? I assume you are on stock rom 4.3 - so I would suggest to do it as explained here:

[*]TWRP FOTA recovery is recommended, follow this thread for instructions
Download:
Nightly: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=nicki&type=nightly
Install instructions:
Before you install make sure you are on 4.3 firmware 1st with your bootloader is Unlocked and a cwm/twrp recovery installed. if you haven't installed recovery then flash boot.img from this rom zip via fastboot.
boot into recovery
Wipe data and cache
Flash the rom and gapps zip
Reboot

Another Way could be to flash NUI-Kernel. It has built in the TWRP recovery.
But ATTENTION!!!: Both ways won't let you boot the Stock ROM !!!

Yes, i'm on the stock rom 4.3 by sony. The instructions are saying that I have to boot into recovery which I can't do... I even tried to install recovery by command shell in windows and fastboot, but this screen appeared:

Have you tried with Flashtool? They say that after unlocking bootloader the official Sony tools won't work anymore. I'm not sure why nothing works for you. So I do erverything under linux environment and don't know how it works with the Windows tools. E.g. I know the behavior of adb shell looks very different under windows.... Maybe someone else has better ideas....!?!

I assume you want to flash cm 13.
First, download the rom. Then open the ZIP file and copy the boot.img into a folder. Then fastboot flash boot boot.img

Then are you able to enter twrp through pressing vol up while boot (led will turn blue)

Will installing cm13 this way be clean or dirty flash?
Im using c1905 4.3

This was already posted a few days ago and it was stated that it didnt work and the link removed.
I have removed the link from the original post until its working and then the first person to post the information (or the developer) will have the right to post it.

Can you backup your stock Recovery before flashing CWM Recovery?

for me its working well. just made backup and using SU after etc. no issue at all
but i installed cwm from ROM manager instead
How does CWM save/store its ROMS, and where does it load from? With the Xoom, without a working SD, it was not possible to use CWM.
If the onboard storage is all one volume with the OS, is the storage included in the backup, and how is the images written if the storage is needed to hold the ROMS to be flashed?

I'd like to know this too. I found something that would back it up, but you need root first. I'd like to be able to back it up before rooting if possible.

Rooting shouldn't affect the Recovery partition so you should be able to safely root then backup your stock recovery before installing ClockworkMod Recovery?
Or if someone backs up theirs you could download it and keep a copy of it?
Anyone can post here recovery.fstab ?
I have just installed Rom Manager and I get a FC but it seems to have installed the CWM OK. It successfully rebooted to CWM and I could navigate around but I didn't try flashing anything yet.
The issue may be more with Rom Manager than the recovery
Installed CWM just fine, however when i try to do a nandroid backup it says "Can't mount backup path" or when i try to browse for a zip to install "Can't mount /sdcard/".
My first guess is that it is because i encrypted my phone, but i believe it works on my Xoom, which is encrypted as well... (I will check this later when i have my Xoom nearby)
FYI, this recovery also is confirmed working on my VZW LTE version.
Backups are approximately 6-700MB and are ext4.tar files for system, data and cache.

[Q] Problems with CWM

Hi, hopefully somebody can help me. I have rooted my Note 2 and installed CWM via ROM Manager. I have always done it this way with other phones, but this time when I reboot into recovery I have options missing - such as backup and restore. I am also unable to scroll down past any item that is visible.
I have flashed a different version of CWM via Mobile Odin but the problem remains. I have also attempted to install TWRP via Goomanager and Mobile Odin but whenever I reboot into Recovery I go straight to CWM with nothng having changed.
I'd be really grateful if someone can tell me where I'm going wrong. I don't want to flash any other ROM until I can backup my stock.
Thanks for any help!
Download CWM recovery tar (like philz or any other you want) and flash with PC odin for PDA tab

Thank you for replying. I have just done this yet still when I reboot into recovery I'm getting the same problem and there has been no change.
Should I be doing a wipe as well? Or is there something else wrong?
Flashing was successful?
There is no changes in menu of recovery? like you can read philz or something?
what is available menu in recovery?

Odin said flashing was successful. Recovery looks like this:
Android system recovery <3e>
Volume up/down to move highlight:
power button to select:
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache

- and then nothing. this is as far as I can get no matter how or what I seem to flash other recovery.
Thanks again for any help.
This is stock recovery, not CWM
It means odin was not successfull
Can you describe the odin log?
here i repeat procedure
-Download said recovery (http://www.mediafire.com/file/imbzaau34u7ldeg/philz_touch_3.99-n7100-fixed.tar.md5)
-Open Odin and select PDA tab, then point to recovery (above said)
-Put device in download mode (vol down + home +power), then it will ask to press vol up to enter into recovery, do that
-connect device to PC and wait till ID COM port glows
-Flash
Let device boot normally
-Reboot to recovery and check, if it is same then post Odin log here
Thats exactly the process I've been following. Here is a screenshot of Odin following flash:

Download a custom rom from this forum, Cyanogenmod for example. So make sure you have a .zip file. Then make sure ADB is fully working on your computer/laptop/iStone and do the following:
- Start your phone in recovery mode:
1. vol down + vol up + power while the phone is off
2. Select "recovery mode" with the volume buttons and press power to confirm
>phone boots into CWM
- Go to storage/mounts and mount system (mount your system partition)
- Open a CMD window on your computer and navigate to where your Android SDK is (/pathhere/android-sdk/platform-tools/)
- For ease of use put the rom you just downloaded (the .zip file) in that platform-tools folder.
- Now run these commands:
1. "adb remount"
2. "adb push nameofzipfile.zip /system/sdcard/"
- Now unmount system
- Go to flash a zip from your SD-card and you should see the zip file you just 'pushed' (copied)
Flash away and your phone should be at least booting again.
Other than that, this is the wrong forum for questions.
First, learn to post in the correct place. This is the development section, not the help section.
You posted in the wrong place, you dont serve help

If and only you have TWRP installed instead of CWM, you can flash another ROM from USB-OTG.
Now you have to sideload a ROM or flash factory image!

Another Firmware update issue.

Hey all,
Noobie question time! Did the firmware update (or so I think) and now I do have adb connection but not fastboot? or mounted sd card. (Did re-format and now it seems to be available). I messed something up along the way obviously, it looked very much finished after both adb and the phone were inactive for a minute or so.
Currently in what seems to be factory recovery?

Thanks for all the help, I'd be useless with out you!
I found out that:
1. Android sdk must be installed.
2. Htc sync must be uninstalled but keep its drivers. (install then uninstall it, keep drivers option!).
3. Use twrp 2.9.0.1 (reboot recovery will not appear until you use this twrp) and supersu 2.65.
4. Do not sideload. Use Fastboot and adb. No matter what!.
Download mode is Fastboot commands. Recovery is adb commands.
When you get to the reboot to recovery bit, boot to bootloader with hold vol+& press power. "reboot recovery" should be halfway down the list in bright lime green font. Read carefully. I missed it first time and panicked.

Shivadow, do you have a link for that twrp I can't seem to find it.
Thanks for the info!
Update:
Got twrp 2.8 on. Won't take newer versions of venom, assuming they need 3.0.
I noticed that the error on the bottom of the device - 0PJAIMG.zip file not found on sd path is RUU related? If so should I try the ruu again as I might have a partial install??
0pjaimg is for flashing but in your case it'll do more damage than good.
You can get twrp 2.9.0.1 from the repo or various sites. Google is your friend.

Recovery Problem/Question

Hello, i followed every step of this guide which brought me to the point where i need to check the boxes in the smart phone flash tool. The problem is when i do like it's told in the guide, it doesnt work and Error 5007 is displayed.
This has probably something to do with the fact that i dont have any locations. My question now, what did i forgot? I downloaded the Philz v3.0 recovery img and used the scatter file and according to the guide this should be enough.
What did i forgot?

If you are just flashing a recovery only the "recovery" should have a tick in it. You only tick all boxes when flashing stock image.

Okay, the problem is after i did that, there is no "recovery" in the end. If i go in the recovery mode, i only have the option boot, fastboot and recovery. And if i klick on fastboot there are "No Files". So no factory reset, SDcard check for a rom and so on and on

After you have flashed the recovery do you reboot back to your o/s or straight to recovery? you have to boot straight in to recovery when you have finished (power and volume up)
