Awesome. This will make rooting even easier. Just unlock, flash CWM and then install su from there.

Does this recovery work?
I have flashed the same recovery via rom manager and it just comes up with a black screen
Koush has said he will fix it in the next few days
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

Protip: Test something before you post it. This does NOT work at the time of writing.

This was already posted a few days ago and it was stated that it didnt work and the link removed.
I have removed the link from the original post until its working and then the first person to post the information (or the developer) will have the right to post it.
Mark.

Working download link and new version is now up.

Can, reportedly, also be gotten through the ROM Manager.

Can you backup your stock Recovery before flashing CWM Recovery?

There's some reports on Koush's twitter that superuser doesn't work on CWM on the Nexus

for me its working well. just made backup and using SU after etc. no issue at all
but i installed cwm from ROM manager instead

How does CWM save/store its ROMS, and where does it load from? With the Xoom, without a working SD, it was not possible to use CWM.
If the onboard storage is all one volume with the OS, is the storage included in the backup, and how is the images written if the storage is needed to hold the ROMS to be flashed?

I'd like to know this too. I found something that would back it up, but you need root first. I'd like to be able to back it up before rooting if possible.

Rooting shouldn't affect the Recovery partition so you should be able to safely root then backup your stock recovery before installing ClockworkMod Recovery?
Or if someone backs up theirs you could download it and keep a copy of it?

Anyone can post here recovery.fstab ?

I have just installed Rom Manager and I get a FC but it seems to have installed the CWM OK. It successfully rebooted to CWM and I could navigate around but I didn't try flashing anything yet.
The issue may be more with Rom Manager than the recovery

Installed CWM just fine, however when i try to do a nandroid backup it says "Can't mount backup path" or when i try to browse for a zip to install "Can't mount /sdcard/".
My first guess is that it is because i encrypted my phone, but i believe it works on my Xoom, which is encrypted as well... (I will check this later when i have my Xoom nearby)

FYI, this recovery also is confirmed working on my VZW LTE version.
Backups are approximately 6-700MB and are ext4.tar files for system, data and cache.

That's most likely cause your stock recovery was put back by the recovery script.
Having issues on my Mac. I did the flash, I see the status on the device, but I can't seem to get the recovery to take. It just dumps me into the stock recovery.
./fastboot-mac flash recovery LTErecovery_cwr.img

writing 'recovery'... OKAY

I re-pushed CWM recovery and seems to be running fine now. Just installed a mod without issues.
has anyone gotten OTA to install after flashing this lte cwm?
If not, any advice on getting stock recovery back for LTE model?

Yup this problem keeps coming up. I have to push the CWM recovery every so often. What's the fix for this?
Question. I'm getting 'fastboot' is not recognized...etcetc' when I'm trying to flash the recovery. Noob issue I know. Should i be normally booted up into android when I run that script? I'm unlocked and rooted already.
I pretty much just plugged my phone in, put the downloaded file in the root of my harddrive and made sure cmd was pointing there and ran the script. and it gave me that message that I said above

no, your phone needs to be in fastboot (From off, hold volume up and down and power). then run that.
Weird I couldn't get into recovery.
I was already unlocked so I booted to fastboot, ran the "fastboot flash recovery LTErecovery_cwr.img" command, which worked, then ran "fastboot reboot".
Went back into fastboot, choose Recovery, and all I got was the red triangle until it rebooted itself back into the OS.
i am definitely in recovery, but have not tested doing a backup or restore. I am really trying to get CWR off so that i can run the OTA upgrade, but i dont think there is a stock recovery img file out yet.

This is my guess:
Did you flash other recovery (e.g CWM) before applying the update.zip?
It happens to me before, the update.zip not working.
To do this, need the original recovery.
So if you can:
1) Flash back original 2.3.6 ROM
2) Apply the update.zip using the ORIGINAL recovery.
Then, you flash CWM.
Cannot root?!?

Rooting my GT-I8150 on GB 2.3.6 fails with recovery method (sdcard), because I do not get to the recovery menu - instead it updates something straight away and then (without me giving a chance to read the few lines it writes on the screen) the phone reboots

If you don't want to keep using your Android 2.3.6 and if your goal is to flash KK on your phone, then you might try this method:
Optional step: make a backup of your contacts, sms, calendar entries and whatnot using Go Backup Pro (you can get it from Google Play store). Or, if you're planning on going back to Samsung stock 2.3.6, after flashing CWM Recovery (see below), make a nandroid backup of the stock ROM (you can find the option under "backup and restore" in CWM Recovery).
Also, if you've got documents, pictures etc, you might want to make a backup of those as well somewhere on your computer, or the External SD card.
1. Flash this CWM Recovery using ODIN (+ Samsung USB driver, of course), or Flashify (you can get it from Google Play Store) or via ADB
2. Get the KK ROM and the Gapps from here and save them on your External SD card.
3. Enter CWM (long press Menu button + Volume Up + Power button until you see the CWM logo, then release the power button) and:
select "wipe data / factory reset"
go to "mounts & storage" and format /system. This is extremely important!
under the same menu, format /sdcard0 (be careful NOT to format /sdcard1 by mistake)
install CM11 (from the external sd)
install Gapps for KK (from the external sd)
reboot your phone
Same procedure can be applied when flashing any custom ROM (minus the first step which you will only need to do once).
i refer to this thread. its good

Download a custom rom from this forum, Cyanogenmod for example. So make sure you have a .zip file. Then make sure ADB is fully working on your computer/laptop/iStone and do the following:
- Start your phone in recovery mode:
1. vol down + vol up + power while the phone is off
2. Select "recovery mode" with the volume buttons and press power to confirm
>phone boots into CWM
- Go to storage/mounts and mount system (mount your system partition)
- Open a CMD window on your computer and navigate to where your Android SDK is (/pathhere/android-sdk/platform-tools/)
- For ease of use put the rom you just downloaded (the .zip file) in that platform-tools folder.
- Now run these commands:
1. "adb remount"
2. "adb push nameofzipfile.zip /system/sdcard/"
- Now unmount system
- Go to flash a zip from your SD-card and you should see the zip file you just 'pushed' (copied)
Flash away and your phone should be at least booting again.
Other than that, this is the wrong forum for questions.
First, learn to post in the correct place. This is the development section, not the help section.
You posted in the wrong place, you dont serve help

If and only you have TWRP installed instead of CWM, you can flash another ROM from USB-OTG.
Now you have to sideload a ROM or flash factory image!

System write protection.
There is a mod to disable that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/des...e-disable-write-protection-v1-0-tool-t2966850
Or use a custom ROM, those have it disabled already.
I went through all the necessary steps. Only thing/issue now is the actual flashing of the root file. It will not take. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a way to get the necessary binary or whatever it's asking for? Thank you in advance.

5. Now flash your Super SU (Zip) transferred to your mobile by selecting in the recovery.
Everything good to go after reboot.....!!!!

4. On my phone I also tried selecting the option, USE USB FOR: "CD Installer"
5. Restart Phone, Mobile and the downloaded file

I can't install TWRP on my XPERIA M.

Hey everyone, i'm new here, it's my first post, so please be forgiving just in case
My goal is to install custom ROM, so first I unlocked bootloader via Flashtool. It worked well.
Then I rooted the phone via KingRoot, it also worked well.
The next step I wanted to do was install the custom recovery (TWRP), so I installed TWRP Manager app and it failed
I installed it via Terminal Emulator app following the instructions on the twrp website and it kind of worked, but I can't get into TWRP...
Turning of the phone, holding the volume down button doesn't work. It's just booting the system. How to fix it? Maybe i'm booting to the recovery wrong?
Help me please, thanks in advance. And sorry for my bad english
Terminal Emulator: "su" then "reboot recovery"
OR power on the device and push Volume Up several times. Usually the LED turns blue and TWRP is booting.

So obviously it did not work? I assume you are on stock rom 4.3 - so I would suggest to do it as explained here:
CM13 Nightlies:

[*]TWRP FOTA recovery is recommended, follow this thread for instructions

Install instructions:
Before you install make sure you are on 4.3 firmware 1st with your bootloader is Unlocked and a cwm/twrp recovery installed. if you haven't installed recovery then flash boot.img from this rom zip via fastboot.

Flash the rom and gapps zip
Reboot

Another Way could be to flash NUI-Kernel. It has built in the TWRP recovery.
But ATTENTION!!!: Both ways won't let you boot the Stock ROM !!!

Yes, i'm on the stock rom 4.3 by sony. The instructions are saying that I have to boot into recovery which I can't do... I even tried to install recovery by command shell in windows and fastboot, but this screen appeared:

Have you tried with Flashtool? They say that after unlocking bootloader the official Sony tools won't work anymore. I'm not sure why nothing works for you. So I do erverything under linux environment and don't know how it works with the Windows tools. E.g. I know the behavior of adb shell looks very different under windows.... Maybe someone else has better ideas....!?!
I assume you want to flash cm 13.
First, download the rom. Then open the ZIP file and copy the boot.img into a folder. Then fastboot flash boot boot.img
