Mi 5 ROM 7.2.4.0 Global Multi LEAK [Link+Tuto] - Xiaomi Mi 5 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Dev

This is for advanced user only.
Root not included but Google services yes. This is a stock ROM, with 50 langages included.
If you don't know what are adb command, root, TWRP, don't follow this guide.
Don't blame me if you brick your phone, kill your cat or burn your house.
For UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER ONLY
To install the rom, extact the system.img and boot.img from the rar/zip in the same folder than adb.exe and fastboot.exe.
Then, reboot your phone in fastboot mode with volume down+power.
Plug in to your PC, open and cmd prompt (maintain left shift on the keyboard, right click in the adb/img folder with the mouse and select open cmd prompt here) and write :
fastboot flash system system.img
Click to collapse
Wait 15min.....then:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Click to collapse
Flash TWRP with fastboot....
(fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img)
Make a data/cache wipe in TWRP recovery
When it's done, press power for ~10sec to reboot your phone.
Wait.....(15-30min)
Set up the phone in English, and don't set your Google account immediately.
Once the setup wizard is done,
Do whatever you want.
You can also try to flash the ROM with MiFlash. I didn't tried but it should work, and will be more easier for new users.
If you wanna install root :
Flash SuperSU (last version) in TWRP.
If you can't access your sdcard, wipe the internal storage (sdcard), reboot to TWRP and wipe it again. Then, reboot... Wait... Setup your phone again. Reboot to TWRP and flash SuperSU.
Your phone got now decrypted data partition to allow TWRP flashing files.

Just a heads up if this ROM pack has Mi App Store in it it can't be posted on the site/in the forums.
Sent from my MI 5 using XDA-Developers mobile app

No Mi app store in this rom, however, there's some nasty bloatware on it. I don't know which one, but after using it for some time, when the screen idle for a long time (I updated a game data), there's this huge fullscreen popup with ads on it.

Most of the bloatware on these ROMs can be removed. Were you able to uninstall them?

There is nothing more than a official dev ROM.
I don't have any pop-up after a long idle time.
Not sure it came from system app, check your installed app please.
If you suspect something running in the background, just delete it from system/app manually or with titanium backup.

unfortunately, I haven't unlocked my bootloader so I don't have root. The rom already loaded on my phone when I bought it. Don't know if the bloatware are from the rom or someone else installed it into phone.

:-/, good luck guy. Since I don't have this problem with this ROM, I suppose someone added a bloatware on your phone before selling it.
You can install the dev ROM by the official way, your phone will be in English but you will got a clean install with root.

This is NO official Xiaomi ROM, it is a Custom-ROM.

People should stop advising this as it's not true. You need an unlocked bootloader or already obtained permission in order to get root.
If you haven't yet, you get a message in the root section of the security app telling you you need to unlock the bootloader.

If it comes with bloatware and needs TWRP then this looks like a scam to me. And not like an official firmware
Specially, the link to the dropbox is fishy! If the "official-global firmware" exists it's on the bigota sever of Xiaomi and all you need is the direct link, it's well hidden, but possible to find with a direct link.

This is a leak of the ROM who was used for the MWC 2016.
Remember photos and videos of the event, the mi5 was multilingual. This is why the ROM is old and can't be found on miui.com...v 7.2.4.0

No bloatware at all on the ROM. Try and you will see. This guy have the ROM preinstalled by the seller, who probably putted some crap inside.
By the way, read the tutorial again. I said you can flash it with MiFlash too like any official ROM.
Stop being parano guys....

As said before! If it is leaked it's on bigota and accessible by the filename.
Until you can provide the link to the official XIaomi server, at least I won't risk it.
A custom ROM from an unknown source without any background information, and very little benefit isn't worth it.

It's not about being paranoid!
This could also be a custom ROM from one of the Chinese scam resellers or worse.
And it's simple if it's official, it's on bigota.d.miui.com

The only problem I see with your topic is the official part.
You can only assume it is official, but you have no proof, no official link to the location of the file on bigota. So you do not know if it's official, knowledge you could prove. Where "I believe in bla..." doesn't require a proof.

Ok i will change the topic name.

So.
I was rdy to give it a try.
It's a little de-bloated not much, but it helps to delete not 2000 Chinese Apps ( i am German)
The Version on this Shows me 7.2.4.0.0, why?
Maybe that we don't get any ota notifications or something like that?
So far it's the smoothest Rom, compared to latest Dev ( Lags for me whyever) , also to 7.2.8.
Gplay Apps are running much smoother then a manual install, don't find any background Apps which calling home or smth.
Also the battery life is for me on that awesome.
Dev -> Max 6 1/2 h SOT
7.2.8 -> Max 6 h SOT
This beauty -> 7 3/4 h SOT
Thanks for this work.

I think they kind of missing something...
i also flash firmwares in spft..
no missing imei, too..
all they have to do is flash using "Firmware upgrade" not download only.. if they use "download only" absolutely they will loose their imei..
Flashing using "Firmware upgrade" option will make your imei intact in your phone.
now if you didnt do that, imei will be gone..all you have to do is manual writing of imei in your phone..there are theads here on how to do that..
hope it helped
Sorry.

Two problems I've face.
1. After install phoenix rom on my XP I've lost Cwm recovery. How I install Cwm. Is it the same process to install cwm like XP stock rom?
2. I think Gmail has bug. Unfortunately Gmail has stopped. Why? To solve this problem, I've tried many ways what I know.
Plz help me. Thnx.

Bro I have flashed the ROM <10 times and used always download only and their is no imei missing.
The difference between download only means your phone will fully flash.(all partition gets formatted and are flashed again)
But in firmware upgrade phones get upgraded.(No data, cache etc partition get formatted).

1. Yes the process for cwm flashing is same.
BRI I'll advise u to use twrp recovery it is better than cwm.In twrp u can also flash ROM with otg.And many other features.

2. I think you have not done factory reset after flashing the ROM.
If you have already done factory reset than, use root uninstaller or es explorer and uninstall the gmail and the install again from playstore.:good::good:

Is there a way to install the bootloader from TWRP? I don't know when I'll be able to get my hands on a PC so I can't use Odin right now.
I've managed to get my hands on a PC so I can use ODIN now, but I do have a few questions:
1.) If I want or need to go back to a stock version will I need to replace the bootloader file that is being provided? If so where can I find the proper bootloader fIles?
2.) What are the correct steps to installing the new bootloader and ROM? I have TWRP installed and have made a full backup. Do I wipe everything first then shutdown or can I just boot into download mode from within TWRP then install the bootloader? After installing the bootloader do I reboot straight into recovery and then install the ROM? What options need to be selected in this version of ODIN?
3.) Out of curiosity where does the bootloader file that civato is providing come from? Is this something that was made especially for this modified ROM?
I'm sorry to ask all these noobie questions. I did search all over the place looking for answers, but most everything I found tended to be confusing and contradictory not to mention specific to other devices. I do appreciate any help that I can get. TIA
Nobody?
Bootloader is usually pulled from stock .tar file or any mod who made it for specific use, to go back to stock just flash stock .tar with odin it should overwrite existing bootloader as far as i know.

No, the bootloader warning was for people who are on Kitkat wanting to move to lollipop.
In your case to go back to unrooted you can either go into the supersu app and select full unroot or better yet connect the tablet to a pc running kies and do a full factory reset.

[D85120G] Stock ONLY update.zip from D85120E

Mainly posting this here for any devs that want it.
I have removed the check for stock recovery as well as added a build fingerprint check for TWRP to allow this update to take without Stock recovery.
This is the update.zip that T-Mobile pushed out starting today (10/05/15). If you are not on D85120E stock (might work with root, I have not checked) do not flash this as it should fail but it's your choice to risk it.

So, how long should it take to boot after flashing this? My phone is stuck on the white T-Mobile boot screen. I think its been sitting there for at least 15 minutes.
EDIT: I gave up waiting. I reflashed the stock rom over this and now I'm waiting though the optimizing process. Why didn't I make a backup first??
EDIT2: I redownloaded it, made a backup and tried to flash it again. This time we're good. Optimizing apps as we speak.
Does anybody know if this fixes the "Settings has stopped" error when going to the tethering menu in Settings?
So I need some clarification please and have a couple of questions. I have Tmo G3 (D851) running stock 20e, but it is rooted. I also have TWRP. Can I just flash this update.zip using TWRP and all will be fine or not? I of course will do a full backup before I start, but wonder about data. Has anyone learned whether this works on rooted devices yet? I think I am already Stagefright protected because I run Textra for SMS and MMS (I do NOT run stock messaging), but should I upgrade to this? I look forward to some expert opinions. Thanks to all.

I had unrooted (through supersu script) in order to setup Android pay. I would recommend you do the same, simply because this has the root script at the end of it anyhow...
So, unroot (setup Android Pay if you care to), flash, reroot...move on with life :good:

No wipes necessary ('dirty flash'). Data stays intact. It will optimize all your apps on initial boot though.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will do a full TWRP backup and move forward. Thanks again
Running rooted stock 5.0.1 20E. I've disabled supersu and booted back into TWRP to flash and I'm getting this error when I try to flash the zip:
"Package expects build fingerprint of lge/g3_tmo_us/g3:5.0.1/LRX21Y/151451134d07b:user/release-keys or lge/g3_tmo_us/g3:5.0.1/LRX21Y/15227151285fc:user/release-keys; this device has LG/omni-d851/d851:4.4.4/KTU84P/2:eng/test-keys."
Not familiar enough with the file system to know exactly what that is, but I'm guessing some file on my device is reporting I'm still on 4.4.4? Could that be a kernel issue? I did at one point have a custom kernel, but I went back to stock after that and re-rooted? Just hoping to avoid a full wipe and redo...

can anyone explain this ?

*i don't got latest pie update yet. but i decided to download and install full official pie based rom from mi forum. and tried to update using mi updater app.
but it appeared one error saying couldn't verify or something and unable to update .
and that downloaded file was missing how could this device can delete that by itself
****i was supposed to try once again using mi recovery but it was not there (as i moved rom from download folder to 'mi rom download' folder)
than i decided to update which update was lying in updater app from soo long but it end up different way

The first thing you do is keep a seperate copy of the downloaded ROM in a separate folder so the ROM file is again not lost while installation error occurs in the updater app.
You can try the Mi Flash Application that is available on PC to flash the new ROM

Hello Emo..
Take a closer look at the screenshot you posted showing the update.
That update has the "April " Security Patch.
Which means your device is trying to 1st update to 10.3.1.0 *** OREO *** NOT 10.3.1.0 PIE..
You should have a Active LEGAL Mi Account.. ( Right Emo ? ) okay..... you need to do a factory reset.
I KNOW ! i KNOW! You'll Loose All Your Data!!!
But something is not right.. you are " Bone-Stock" and not even rooted.. Hell, my device has been "Stock-Rooted" on 9.17.1.0 since 2018 and I finally decided to update this thing before I sell it.. and I have had the "Update Available" Message showing for months.. and had no trouble letting it update naturally through settings..
And again.. I was Stock-Rooted.
So.. If you are getting those messages.. and you are legit with the Mi Servers.. you should have ZERO issues just clicking "Ok" and leting the update do it's thing.
That's why I say... Do A Factory Reset.. Re-Install you apps FRESH on 10.3.1.0... ( Just backup / Cloud ) your pics.. and, within a day you'll get another notice that Pie is available through "About Phone".
My Advice?
Stick with Oreo 10.3.1.0 I can't believe how much snappier it is AND the great batterylife I was getting on 9.17.1.0 was no match for what I'm getting now on 10.3.1.0 Oreo.
Trust Me.. follow my instructions if you are legit with the Mi Servers and your account and you'll be Good to Go..

LG V35 - LGUP - Error: 0x7004, AB Update Boot Change Fail / Stuck In Firmware Update

So this happened, and I have no idea what to do.
Google search on this specific error shows nothing, like I am the first to have it or something.
Could it be that is because my phone is encrypted?
Also sorry if I have posted this in the wrong sub forum

I have only done the "Upgrade" Option, nothing else, trying to dump anything gives me "0x2000 Write Protected lun" Error, could be because of the encryption.
I have just tried doing Partition DL on "boot_ a/b" and "sid_a/b"
Followed by the upgrade option, result is the same, the last thing it seems to try flashing is "sid_a" then it gives me the 7004 error
I have accidentally flashed/partition DL on user files.
I am guessing that wiped everything on there didn't it :|

Well there goes my whatsapp history, I really should stop messing with it when I am tired late at night after coming back from a long trip.
I have tried multiple different ones,
The one from https://www.lanzous.com/i3y5ocd does not seem to work for me, it gives me an invalid mismatched DLL type of error
The one I am using I can't remember where I got it but will post once I get a chance to look it up again
Would doing the refurbished option be any good?

In the LGUP zip file there is an LGUPD and an LGUPE exe. Correct? Which of those two did you use? Also I think refurbish would be the best option. At this point.
---------- Post added at 03:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:54 PM ----------
The upgrade option wouldn't work because of the firmware incompatibilities. You could only use upgrade going from same firmware family. Like Google Fi 8.0 to Google Fi 9.0. or Amazon 8.0---> 9.0 etc.
