Coming from a iPhone 6s - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I have pre ordered a 10 for delivery asap in the UK. As I'm coming from a iPhone 6s will it be a easy way to transfer all the info I have on my 6s. That being all contacts, calendar and photos etc.
I know Apple have a transfer type app but do you know if HTC would have the same type of app?
I know I could do them all manually but I'd rather if there was an automated way.

Thanks for that, I'll keep it all in mind and refer to it when the 10 finally arrives.

I found the first negative reason for Zero Lag Camera!

I let a coworker look at my phone because he is interested in getting one. Needless to say he is very jealous of my free upgrade from Three. There was a stapler on the desk and he took 33 pictures of it in about 4 seconds. You can tell he was impressed. Naturally, having Google+, all those pictures uploaded to my account. If anyone has a small data plan, like the 500 meg ones, then letting others test out the camera can use up you monthly allowance really quick. Thankfully I'm on the all you can eat plan.
Does anyone else have this issue?

Just disable auto upload within the Google+ settings!
Under the Gallery app, just set it to only sync on WiFi
I'm on 500MB, so this is very useful. I had the same issue, about 20 pictures of our offices in a few seconds.

this sync you speak of is download only I think, as in it pulls photos form picasa to your device, but doesnt upload what you take
only instant upload via google plus is what the OP should be concerned about
correct me if im wrong
I have set Google+ instant upload to WiFi only, not had a problem with it

The good news of having to delete loads of pictures is that my coworker wants a GN. He was considering the iPhone 4s.
I hope this was a humorous negative for you all.

[Q] A few questions... Answered

So far this community has answered my one or two questions very well. I now have a text, Google voice, and insurance question.
First, I was wondering is there a free app that allows me to see text messages as popups on my pc as well as answer them from the pc? I know I read Google voice could but I also read problems with binding (and unbinding) with sprint numbers so I wanna know of other alternatives if they exist.
If I do use Google voice and link it to my number or there any real cons to this? Do the cons outweigh the pros?
Recently found that the charger port on my phone is damaged causing slow charge and loose connection. I was told I'd have to pay the deductible and get a new epic. I decide to try to wait 5 months for my upgrade, will sprint take this back as a trade-in with it damaged?
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

1. You can text from a PC using Zipwhip via Sprint. http://sprint.zipwhip.com
2. I like GV. No cons from my perspective. I like being able to text and listen to voice mails online. The spam filter also cut down on the occasional telemarketing calls.
3. Not sure. Never utilized the trade-in program. The trade-in amounts I've been quoted were pitiful. You'll get more cash by selling your old phones on eBay.

Back to the Galaxy Nexus

Hello, A while back (January) I had the Galaxy Nexus, but for a few reasons traded it in for the Iphone 4s. I now regret that decision and have just gotten another GN and could not be happier! I love and miss this phone so much! SO GLAD TO BE BACK!!

Any reason why you didn't go for a newer phone, such as the One X?
These posts always crack me up
I left the gnex for the rezound and almost immediately regretted it. I also have a 4s and can say it hasn't even been turned on since I got the nexus back.

I don't like using iOS it seems counter intuitive for me...

i thought the rezound was a pretty decent phone? i've been thinking about swapping my Gnex for a Rezound.
i just got an iphone 4s, and i must say it's pretty dope, and once you jailbreak it, it's even better. I don't see why so many hate on the 4s, it's a well designed device with solid software. I haven't had any problems with getting through a full day on one charge, plus there's TONS of cases and other accessories for it. iOS5 really isn't bad like people been saying on here, i guess it varies from person to person. Yes i still have my Nexus, and don't plan on abandoning it any time soon. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on the iphone 4s since i just got it a few days ago(my first iphone ever) and loving it
I'm waiting my GNex for today or tomorrow and selling my LG P500 & HTC Desire HD!!! Can't wait to have it.

Agreed.
I can agree to the fact that the iPhone 4S has good hardware, but the software isn't even ****. It's far beyond ****. So ****ty that ****ty can't describe the feeling of it. I used to have an iPod Touch 4G. Used to.

I don't hate the 4s nor do I hate iOS. I used to have a 3g and a 4, and I still have a 1st-gen iPad. As phones and OSes go, they are a very good introduction to the world of gadgets/mobile computing/mobile technology. They're powerful yet easy to use and understand, which is the main strength of the iphone. Copying, syncing, backing up, etc., can be done with one click of a button. All the complicated stuff happens in the background and the user doesn't have to do much thinking.
However, all this requires iTunes, and, oh boy, do I hate iTunes. It gets even worse if you use Windows. ITunes on Mac is bearable. ITunes on windows is a PITA. Also, iTunes is great if you only have 1 computer and only ever plug into that computer. But if you have 2 laptops, a desktop and an office computer, then you're going to have decide which one will hold iTunes and your media collection. You can have itunes in all of them, but that would require that each computer should have a copy of your entire media collection.
Want to copy some photos from your PC to your phone?
iOS: email it to yourself or use itunes.
android: plug your usb cable, then drag and drop. Or use bluetooth.
Want to transfer 10 photos from one device to another?
iOS: send 10 emails to the other iOS device or download to PC, then multiple attach to an email (or sync with iTunes if that other person doesn't mind your iTunes wiping his device and/or he/she is your husband/wife and syncs on the same PC anyway).
android: multiple attach to an email, then send. Or, add to zip file, then bluetooth. Or, android beam (if hardware allows).
Want to copy a song downloaded/bought/ripped from your office computer?
iOS: Copy it to a usb drive, bring it home and sync with itunes.
android: plug your usb cable, then drag and drop. Or use bluetooth (but might might take a while depending on how many files)
Want to transfer pdfs, docs, spreadsheets, etc. to your phone for viewing on the go?
iOS: use itunes or email to yourself.
android: plug your cable, then drag and drop. Or use bluetooth.
Anyway, you get the picture. But if you like mobile gaming, iOS is currently the platform of choice. As for me, I'm the keyboard and mouse kind of gamer.
EDIT: I should point out that my experience of iTunes on windows was on a winXP desktop. Things may have changed over the past 2 years for iTunes for windows.
No change...iTunes still suxxxxxx ass

I'll stick with my Pebble. Not a fan of the mini-computer-on-wrist thing... The pebble still looks like a watch.

You still have to take it out of your pocket anyway. All the gear does is tell you you have an email or sms, doesn't actually show who from or the message at all. Kinda makes it useless in my opinion.
I do really want a smart watch myself and the only decent one is the pebble.
JaredC01 is right. The pebble still looks like a watch plus it gets decent battery life considering the screen is always readable and doesn't shut off unlike the Galaxy Gear. I can find out who's calling me, what's playing, what message they sent me without having to use my other hand to power the screen on (unless the gear has an accelerometer trigger to turn the screen on when flicking one's wrist). Sticking with my pebble until something better arrives.

Do you think should I buy a Pebble NOW? I mean, is it too late?
I won't want to be that connected to my phone.

I think they're trying to finish with the pre-orders first before being sold in retail stores (if any at all or maybe only online). A lot of people backed this kickstart project and the pebble orders piled up quickly. I backed them up last year on September and I just got mine this past June. Maybe the wait is less now, or maybe not.
I ordered my Pebble watch just under a month ago and it just arrived.
It's not about not wanting to take your phone out to look at, rather it's about being a little more subtle when checking updates. I can check messages and notifications with the same amount of disruptions as a wrist flick.
If you want something cheap get a Sony watch first or second version for 50-150 on ebay if you want a wrist communicator
But with the pebble you can do some useful things like delete messages, skip through songs, and other stuff that would be useful for say running or if you are at the office and don't want to be blatant about certain things.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I bought my pebble a month ago in best buy. It was honerstly an amazing piece of hardware and works well. I didn't need to order it or wait. I had an s4 at the time a d it didn't work well with Samsung's talkback bug but I would buy again in a heartbeat... It's a smaller size to me. I usually wear large faces like diesel or breitling but otherwise it works better than the gear.

Questions answered about the Galaxy Gear
I work for Sprint, and I was awarded the Galaxy Gear as part of the Galaxy Note 3 Advocate package. As for what the watch is capable of, it does more than what the previous posters have stated. To answer some of what was said.....it does display your text messages, and it allows you to respond via S-Voice to them. It has a media controller that allows you to skip tracks, control volume levels, and play/pause media including videos. It has a pedometer, accesses your contacts, call logs, and more. I love mine, but I'm honestly waiting for someone to figure out how to successfully pair it with the HTC One or the One Max so I can come back to my HTC. The Note 3 is awesome, but I would rather be using my HTC One with the gear.....thats my take on it.
I bought my pebble from best buy, love it. I've played with the Galaxy Gear, Samsung tried sticking way too many features into the watch and forgot that it was a watch. Get the Pebble.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I didn't pay for mine....got it for free. I had a customer who brought in his iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S to recycle after purchasing the Note 3 using the Sprint 1-Up program for $47.25.....got the gear for free with enough change from the recycle to purchase a body glove case with no out of pocket cost!! Awesome deal!

Default messaging app questions

So I switched to an iphone 6 (i now have a 6s) from a note 4 almost 2 years ago and have gotten very used to the imessage app for texting. Im considering purchasing a note 7 but wanted to find out how the default messaging app on this phone compares to imessage.
When youre in a message thread is there a way to view all photos from that conversation like how the details tab in iOS does it?
Also, one of my biggest issues with the note 4 was the lag when typing. Has this been resolved? I see a thread about this exact issue but i'm wondering if this is affecting everyone or just a few users.
Any other tips for switching?
Sorry. Most of us don't speak iOS. No idea what iMessage does differently. Had an iPhone 6s. Lasted 10 days with it. Comparing the note 7 to the iPhone 6s is like comparing telegraph to email. If you even have to think about it, don't switch. You're just going to find reasons why you don't like it. Switch when your ready. You won't regret it.

Yes, it is similar to iMessages, you can view a recap of all photos sent.
Thanks, do they remain there indefinitely?

yup unless deleted manually or if you have app settings set to delete message automatically once a certain threshold is reached.
