Drivers not correctly installed.
Please take care on Windows 10 or 8.1 drivers signature disable before install drivers.
Connect the phone switched off, after you push download in flashtool.
It works fine in all P9000 lite, nit mediatek drivers are always the big step to do..

I disable signature and installed drivers. I checked and USB driver was on, but when i tried to flash i always got this. Maybe it is problem because i upgraded phone to newest SW?

I had exactly the same problem, however, i hadn't updated my drivers since the times i used to flash my P2000... So, i disabled the drivers verification and followed the guide from the guides page and it worked fine

is it working for p9000??? (meaning not lite)

How do I get twrp on my p9000 lite on 2016810 ROM this doesn't work

Cm13 here: TWRP works good!

Hi,
I have a P9000 lite which I have updated to latest version 20160810. I can flash the recovery and it seems to go OK with no errors. However, when I try to enter the TWRP recovery mode - ( up and power) it wont go in I see the screen flash, like its going to, but it just boots up normally. Is there an updated version that works with the latest stock rom or will I have to roll back version ( which seems not as good on batteries and not so good on GPS) to be able to root the phone? I am wondering if the last update has locked the recovery mode or something?

Flashed without a unlocked bootloader

I accidentally flashed a custom rom after i thought I'd unlocked my bootloader, the bootloader was not unlocked and now I'm in a error loop, Help? or advice? I'm very new to this stuff
If you can get to bootloader, from off hold power and up volume key until ASUS logo appears, you can try to use fastboot to install an image file, get it from the pre-rooted roms thread in original android developement.
Hopefully this will fix. If you want to try a stock rom from ASUS then you still need to go to this mode, go to recovery and, if youget a n android with error underneath, hold the same buttons as above. This will allow you to either flash using ADB or you can put the downloaded zip folder on your fat32 formatted sd card, named MOFD-SDUPDATE.zip, and do a recovery stock flash by picking the update file.
Good luck...
Still no success.
My problems started when I couldn't flash xposed framework onto my rooted zenfone 2 (ze551ml). I tried different versions for intel devices from one of the links i got here. Then i tried to do it via magisk installation. I was using twrp 2.8.7.0 to flash the roms. After attempting to install magisk v7, my device couldn't boot. Have tried installing stock rom from the asus website via abd sideload and by flashing it after renaming it mofd_sdupdate.zip. The processes seeem to work fine and "complete" or "finished" messages pop up. But when i try to reboot it stops at bootloader screen or just goes directly to twrp.
Can someone help.

1. Magisk on stock ROMs may require some modifications in order to work or booting correctly.
2. You may want to flash RAW firmware...

Can you give me like of drivers? I used one in unbrick tool but it is not getting installed
I have no other drivers than those in the unbrick thread.
There is also a process of installing them described, which is tricky, because the drivers are not digitally signed.
If you are on windows 7, you must put them in test mode....don't know how it is with other versions of windows, because I used my older machine with W7 for unbricking.
It is all there, in the unbrick thread.....If I remember correctly....

Finally unbrciked the device using that guide and after some workarounds got 3g working. But the biggest problem I am facing now is. I am stuck in stock 1.2..5i with twrp 2.7.0 can't old backup are not showing in recovery also can't flash anything. No system update. Flashing nameless Rom latest results in updater script error. Tried flashing latest twrp but it will reboot to system every time I try to boot into recovery. Sorry for my bulky English.
Yes, this exact problem I had also to face.
And I don't remember it exactly, but If I'm not mistaken, I flashed the original ColorOS recovery, did some updates and finally then I ended up with ColorOS 2.1.5i, I think.....
From that point TWRP recoveries worked alright, even the newest versions.
If you managed to unbrick your device, this is piece of cake, just remember - you need original ColorOS recovery firstly.

[Recovery] TWRP 3.1.1 (unofficial)

I was looking for a TWRP for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. I've found a chinese board where a user called YouLinw compiled TWRP for us. According to him and the users there (Google Translator) it seems to work. Can't test it by now, because my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 isn't shipped right now. It was really tricky to register in this chinese board and then to download the file. You can download it yourself in the board and for all other users I made a mirror with no registration.
There's now a new english TWRP from Xiaomi.eu.
I don't take any responsibilities for this file. If you break or damage your phone, it's your fault!
The recovery is in chinese - but you shuold be able to use it with screenshots in your language.

Flash over Fastboot
Hope you like it.
Great find! Any idea what version of SuperSU can be used to root The device ?
In this chinese board there's something written like, that SuperSu 2.82 is suitable for the Mix 2 (without guarantee).

Can confirm, superSU 2.82 works on Xiaomi EU rom version 7.9.22
unable to mount /system after nadroid backup
TWRP installed fine and experienced no issues until I made a full Nandroid backup. After the backup I have issues flashing because the device is unable to mount /system . busy or in use error.
So now I wait until official TWRP.
If you are having any twrp issues just reboot into twrp and the issues will be gone. Try again!

For the life of me I cannot get this TWRP to do anything. My phone came with Global 8.5 Stable. I confirmed my bootloader is unlocked. I flashed the TWRP and booted it, it boots fine but trying to backup anything I get Failed to unmount "/system" (Device or resource busy). I tried to reboot back into TWRP still same problem, I tried to reflash TWRP through both fastboot and TWRP image installer. I downloaded the EU rom and tried to flash it and it also failed to flash. OEM unlock is checked, USB debugging is on. TWRP gets over written with the Mi Mix recovery whenever I boot back into system, it doesn't ask me if I want to modify anything when it first boots. Why is this giving me so much trouble I've never encountered this problem with TWRP. Any Advice?.
Thanks much

There is still no official TWRP available. I always do a full wipe factory reset and manual wipe everything before flashing anything. I also get the errors, but I've never tried to restore a backup because I usually just do clean installs each time because the ROMs available right now aren't stable enough for daily use.
The trick for EU rom is complete wipe than boot back into TWRP and try flashing. You will get 2 errors but will install fine. You can install USB drive or transfer EU rom through mtp via TWRP.
I'll do it like @allrockedout
It seems this TWRP is more beta than stable :-/
Also check the "Mount" button and uncheck the option to open all partitions readonly.
Then reboot TWRP. Last but not least before performing any flash operations (ROM or Magisk/SU-Stuff) check all partitions as marked - then do your flash work
i also miss some more partition that are available to other devices like EFS.
Did anyone know about another TWRP version or devs that are working on one?

Help updating Android on a rooted OnePlus 5T

Hey guys, so this is my problem:
I've bought a OnePlus 5T some days after its release. When i searched for a tutorial teaching how to root the device (i don't know the root process deeply), there were just a few videos at that time. This was the video i watched to root me device (some people already told me that this isn't the best method, but it was what I had at the moment):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SsIH6iauYQ
As i told, i'm a layman and doesn't know the root process, and now i need to update urgently my Android (its currently on the Android version it was when i bought it: 7.1.1). I've found some threads with a similar situation, but i got lost in all the details that i don't know, like "you need to unlock the bootloader", "just flash the TWRP and stuff", but i need a more simple language like "click this, click that". I really need it now, so i'm even thinking about searching for someone trustable to do it or transfering some cash to anyone who helps me, because i don't wanna lose anything important in the process. Anyone that can help me, PLEASE?!
Thanks in advance

I am not sure, if I understood it correctly. You need to update your device that's clear but do you need your device still rooted afterwards?
Because if not just update your device, it should be that simple. If you need to root your device afterwards just follow this thread:

Sorry, actually i forgot this detail. I have a root based on SuperSU and i would like to have the Magisk one after i update my Android. What you think is the best way to do it?
Btw, just one question: you said that if i didn't want to keep the root, i could just update my Android, but once i click in the system update option, the update fails, i believe its because of the root right?

No, because you have to download the whole update package. Normally the device detects itself if it is rooted/unlocked, so there should be the option to download the whole package. With that the update should not fail.

Ok, i read the guide so i'll try to follow it once i get home since i don't have admin access on my work.
Just 2 questions:
1- how do i remove SuperSU? I'm asking cause i've download the file you attached and there is no .exe file or something on it, do i put the files on my phone and then execute the uninstaller by the phone itself? If so, how i do it? Btw, i was taking a look at the SuperSU app and it has this option : "Exchange superuser app - Cleaning to exchange for another superuser app", it works just the same as your uninstall?
2- Even reading FunkWizard's guide, i'm still confused of which order i should do the things. Because i need to:
- Uninstall SuperSU
- Download full OTA on OnePlus website and install it through TWRP
- Install Magisk
is there a best order to do all this? Am i missing something?
Thanks
The attached unsu file is for removing super su by flashing thru twrp ! its not not for pc i.e. no .exe file.
i assume that your bootloader is unlocked and twrp already installed then just flash the unsu zip in twrp > wipe dalvik/cache > reboot, super su gets removed.
You can also go like this (you may need a pc for this):
Since you are on nougat build download the oreo version first.
first download the full oos rom from here on pc : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3728665http://
download latest magisk zip from here :https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445http://
download no verity zip to remain decrypted, here :https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/guide-how-to-decrypt-data-partition-t3642144
boot your phone in twrp , wipe everything (first transfer your important data from phone to pc/usb otg), in twrp you can go advanced > format data > yes > done > reboot twrp > now there is nothing in your phone by formatting internal storage (everything). Now while in twrp transfer your already downloaded oos and magisk zips from pc to your phone through the data cable.
Now, flash oos zip > magisk zip > no verity zip > wipe dalvik/cache > reboot > that's it, enjoy your new android version !

Hey buddy, i followed your steps and now the phone isn't starting totally, it stops on the OnePlus start screen with the white balls around the red one. Should i do the process all again? Can i start TWRP in this situation?
edit: nvm, i try it again and now it works normally But Magisk isn't working, when i try to flash it through TWRP it shows "Updater process ended with ERROR: 1
Error instaling zip file '/sdcard/Magisk....' "
And Android version is still 7.1.1 , so i need to update the Android through the phone itself and then i reapply the root?
edit2: sorry for so many edits in this same reply, let me try to explain the status of all the process right now to see if you can give me some tip:
- Android is on 8.1.0 version right now; Do i need to upload it more?
- Bootloader is unlocked (at least when i go "Enable OEM Unlocking" on Developer options, i cant check this option cause it says that bootloader is already unlocked)
- I can't acess TWRP on reboot now, it seems that i enter on some Oneplus Recovery Mode, not TWRP itself
- Root isn't working
If you need any extra information just ask me

No problem FunkWizard, take your time and answer when possible, i'll hold my fingers to don't get a worst situation.
Rom/OS version : Custom ROM(i believe)/8.1.0
TWRP: no; after everything i tried, when i try to acess TWRP now, it doesn't enter on TWRP itself, it shows a different recover screen, like a recovery screen of Oneplus system, just like the picture i attached.
Magisk: no; one of my goals in this entire process was to uninstall SuperSU and install Magisk after all, but when TWRP was working and i tried to install Magisk, i got an error and Magisk didn't install correctly, and since i've uninstalled the SuperSU, i'm without root right now, and i can't even try to install it since TWRP is working right now :crying:

If you have oneplus recovery instead of twrp then you can't be on custom ROM, it has to be on oxygenos. Unless I know of what version I would not be able to give you the step by step process.
U can flash twrp easily, simply download the latest Bluspark twrp and flash it via fastboot steps on the unlock device thread in the guides section.
There on you can download and flash the full zips from twrp followed by Magisk.

[RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP 3.4.0 - castor/_windy (Sony Z2 Tablet)

Since there hasn't been any up-to-date TWRP for the Z2 Tablet recently, I finally compiled a new one, which can also handle Android 10 encryption.
I have only tested it on Android 10, but I assume it should work on Android 9 as well (please report if you try).
For older Android versions, I recommend using older TWRPs.

Thank you for the update SpiritCroc!,
Have ran through all the basic functions in TWRP, and have not had any issues. Will test further in the next week, but so far working great for me. Thank you again!!!
Working fine, I flashed the latest build with it.
Only an error message on a recovery map file when booting to TWRP.
Thank you !
Working great on castor, flashed the latest build with it.
I flashed the Recovery, but I can't seem to boot into it. What is the button combination in order to boot into recovery mode?

Turn on the device, and when the sony screen comes up and the LED flashes magenta, press any volume button. Then, the LED should switch to yellow and TWRP should come up.
This procedure requires support for booting to recovery from your ROM (or more precisely, your kernel/bootimage), so it might be different based on what you use.
If you use a ROM which works with other recoveries but not this one, please report, then I'll put a note in the first post - I have only tested it with AICP 15.0 so far.

I use the stock rom, since I had to downgrade to 4.4.2 in order to backup the TA Keys before unlocking the bootloader. Maybe that's why it doesn't work?

If you are on SONY'S OS i.e. STOCK ROM with STOCK KERNEL, you should be using NUT'S Dual Recovery. Search NUT'S Dual Recovery on XDA, then you can select our tablet.
Here's the link - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794175
Hope this helps...

Huh, alright. Didn't think I'd need this since this existed, first time dealing with a sony device, very complicated lol. But thank you nonetheless!
After flashing 3.4.0 it just reboots when I try to reboot to recovery. I am on CarbonROM (Android 8). TWRP 3.3.2.1 works fine.

Sure. It was in the CarbonROM thread:

The one for windy you find here: https://mega.nz/#F!3NYBQKCA!jO0NQBZr08RaYqIbU7whxA
I am also coming from Carbon ROM and it is really not working... I now tried via Fastboot to install another older TWRP version. But the tablet is not reacting on 'adb reboot bootloader' (it shows the device for 'adb devices'). All it shows is a black screen and the blue LED light. Any idea how to flash the older TWRP version without bootloader? Normal Carbon ROM is working fine... Thanks!!!

I tried with the Sony-Emma Tool which of course removed Carbon ROM - but left the bootloader as it was. So ADB / Fastboot is still not working. How did all th others that were involved solve the corrupt bootloader?

@emartino,
If you are seeing a BLACK SCREEN with BLUE LED you are in Download mode (FASTBOOT mode). Try "fastboot devices" without quotes, and you should see the device serial number, or the tablet ID number. If you do not see the device number, you will need to install the fastboot drivers. They are different than the adb drivers. This can be done through device manager for WINDOWS. Info available in the forums if you need assistance with fastboot driver install.
To install TWRP, place the TWRP.img you want to use in your ADT-BUNDLE/sdk/platform-tools folder, or whatever your path is. Then open an elevated cmd prompt, while the tablet is in DOWNLOAD MODE, and enter this command "fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img" no quotes. The recoveryname is the name of the TWRP img file you have downloaded and put in your platform-tools folder. After the flash completes enter "fastboot reboot-recovery" must put the DASH between reboot and recovery. This will boot into TWRP.
I may have given a little more instruction than you needed, but wanted to be clear.
Hope this helps....
ALSO, i seen requests for the older TWRP. Here is a link to my SHARED GOOGLE DRIVE folder. The older TWRP will be in the folder labeled the same. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BwBZlgiV0lNiV2x5SFYwMGlmNUU?usp=sharing
Everything in my shared folder was shared within XDA. Original authors and devs can be found in the threads. Locate them and hit the thanks button for them sharing their work.
Thanks for the great description! As ADB was working I neglected to verify in the Windows Device Manager if the Fastboot drivers were also ok. And they were not... With the help of Zadig I then solved this driver-issue. Now fastboot was working fine and I could flash recovery with success. Only the mentioned 'fastboot reboot-recovery' was not available in the 'Minimal ADB and Fastboot' Version of fastboot, but this was then available once I installed the Android Studio + SDKs...
But still one thing is missing - I still cannot enter TWRP. Neither via the fastboot command, nor with Power-On + VolumeUp or VolumeDown... I always end up with the Android 6 standard Sony UI. Any additional idea what could have gone wrong? I even tried various TWRP versions (3.1, 3,2, 3.4), none could be started.

@emartino,
So when you flash the TWRP recovery img, through fastboot, then reboot to recovery or power off and then on when the led turns PINK (i think that is the color) start tapping the volume up button and the led should turn orange and boot to TWRP. I may have the colors off. But when you attempt to boot to TWRP what exactly does it do? Does the system boot to AICP or stock android recovery or what? Sorry not understanding the Android 6 Sony UI. Also, do you know the firmware you are running? If your not sure, no big deal, just tell us if when you turn the device on, does it show the SONY name in the center with XPERIA across the bottom?
Wait!!!!! are you installing TWRP on SONY Stock OS???? The versions of TWRP here are for custom roms. If you are using AICP or similar custom rom, then the above questions will help us narrow down the issue.
Hi, i can't boot into recovery after flashing.
When I try to boot directly into recovery, I get the following message:
Code:
% fastboot boot TWRP-3.4.0-sc-1_castor_20200606_1421.img
Sending 'boot.img' (13266 KB) OKAY [ 0.418s]
Booting FAILED (remote: 'dtb not found')
fastboot: error: Command failed
Could you please help?
