Finger print problem - Lenovo Vibe P1 Questions & Answers

Hello! I flashed the stock+root ROM file on a p1a42 and now my fingerprint sensor says all my fingerprints are used, no matter what finger I use! Is there any way I can erase them? Like without doing a factory reset?

Did you try reflashing the stock+root ? Or perhaps a older/newer version of the same ?

I did not try that and I will try it.

Sounds like a systemui meltdown. When you flash the kdz again are you doing the full wipe one, can't remember what it's called cse or something?
yes i do a full wipe but makes no difference.

You a 100 % sure that you are choosing the full wipe one? I just don't understand if you are flashing a new firmware to your phone how the systemui is in meltdown. The other option is to try the pc suite and restore upgrade errors and hopefully that might fix it but if flashing a kdz doesn't work than I don't think that will.
This may be an older thread, but think I finally solved this one!
If you 're trying to restore a backup or flash a new ROM that's in a different language than your SIM card, just remove the SIM before the restore!

[Q] How does one delete registered fingerprints? HELP PLEASE.

So I recently flashed back from Bobcat Rom back to KitKat just to find that my finger prints that I had enabled, no longer register. Ive tried going into apps and deleting data and clearing cache...Nothing, I have tried to go into finger print settings and reseting it through settings but it says by backup password isnt correct even though i can get into my phone using my backup password so I know thats correct. Any Ideas on how to clear registeredfingerprints otherwise?? I don't want to have to factory reset, but if there is a way around that please let me know it would be greatly appreciated.

Found this out the hard way myself. If finger prints are REGISTERED not just activated when you perform a backup they will be corrupted when you restore that backup with no way of getting back to normal other than:
1. Resorting a backup that no finger prints were registered.
2. Doing a clean flash and starting over.
I have found no way of getting around this. Remember just deactivating finger print security before backing up isn't enough you must unregister all finger prints.
Are you guys registering online or just through the phone?
Through the phone, but dang that sucks...Looks like I'ma have to use the backup password till I find a new rom.
Thanks Kenjesse for your experience.

I've still not found a fix other than starting from scratch, ie odin tar, or restoring a nandroid backup that had no finger prints registered. Sorry dude.

Thanks, I actually don't have a nandroid, just a back up of data through twrp. Not sure if I re-setup the fingerprint through fresh install then restore the data backup would work. Or the backup might corrupt the fingerprint again.

If you stay away from restoring any system info shouldn't be a problem. After that you can restore a little system stuff at a time, keep checking to see if you break finger print function.

Yea it seems that with twrp backup, backing up data only still backs up the fingerprint settings with it. Not wanting to backup with titanium either as it requires root. I guess I don't have much choice.

Can't add fingerprints - "Fingerprint setup was cancelled"

After restoring a twrp data backup, I cannot add new fingerprints in settings. It just repeatedly says "fingerprint setup was canceled" on the menu where you actually press your finger down repeatedly. I can click try again but it still says canceled. I RUU'd and the fingerprint setup does work in the first-run setup wizard. I restored a new backup from the faulty phone on the new phone and again cannot add the fingerprints.
Using 3.0.2-7-test3 version of twrp. backup of my 2.28.617.8 data and boot on a phone sent from RMA due to the last one not having GPS functionality. I have both phones still (about to send the "old" one back to RMA). Backup has patched boot and root for magisk. Adding fingerprints works on the rooted phone I'm backing up. I also tried deleting the 3 locksettings.* files from data/system to no avail. The new phone is perfectly functional, so far as I can tell, except I can't add fingerprints. The home button works for waking up screen when no security is enabled as well as long pressing for google now.
Any ideas what could be bugging out the add fingerprints dialog?
Did you ever find a solution as I am having exactly the same issue...

Urgent help needed. Any way to remove pattern lock?

Hi
I am using AEX 4.5 on Z2 plus and due to some issues I decided to take a backup in TWRP and use a different kernel. I didn't like the new kernel so I restored the backups but now I can't open the lock even though I am entering the correct pattern.
Is there any way to reset the lock so I can get back into my phone? I remember seeing some flashable zip for older android versions but I can't find one now. Can anyone please help me with this?
Thanks

Go in twrp/advenced/file manager/data/system
Remove
password.key
pattern.key
locksettings.db-wa
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db
Some files should not be there but it is not a problem. After the reboot problem will be solved.
Next time don't restore system but flash the rom and restore data only

Thanks that worked. I will keep this method in mind the next time I have to restore.

You have to unlock your bootloader and put a custom recovery to use your phone.

fingerprint reader on F.15

Successfully updated to F.15 (without loosing data or root). Only thing that's not working properly is fingerprint reader; gets it right around 1/10 tries... obviously already tried deleting prints and re-enrolling. Any suggestions?
