Z5 premium locked issue - Xperia Z5 Premium Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys
My brother bought an x5 premium but it's locked to EE. The first time he contacted EE they said it'll take 3 weeks, it didn't happen so he's contacted them another 3 or 4 times and they've not done anything. Now they're saying that Sony haven't released the code...... That doesn't sound right to me.
Has Anyone successfully unlocked their z5 premium?
Thanks

Wrong, carphone warehouse do sell sim free network unlocked devices but they mainly only deal in network locked devices. The only UK network to supply sim free network unlocked Bootloader unlockable devices for all there handsets whether payg or contract is three UK.
Best place to look for a unlock code is amazon or eBay to be honest, costs a few quid n they send you a email with a code I think is how it works. I do know that some network's are cheaper and easier to unlock than others you could always try places like gumtree see if any local phone shops have advert. Thought the network had to supply a pac code to unlock the device to any network if there's no money owing on it in unpaid bills

[Q] An carrier unlocking question prior to picking up an arc

Evening
I've spent a few hours searching now but i can't find anything specific to my question.
i've been offered an arc in trade for my desire z. I really like the look of it but the issue I have is that it is a carrier locked model on the three network.
I figure the sim unlocking of the device is simple enough in a local shop or something. However, i then stumbled on a few posts that state the carrier locked versions can't have their bootloader unlocked. is this true?
I guess i'm looking for a little confirmation prior to committing to a decision either way really.
thanks in advance

I'd really like to know, who I have to contact for this ota. I have the Rogers Canada variant (lt15a), and every time I pay for the unlock code it returns not found.

either get teh code from AT&T (if you're a customer) or pay $25 for it at one of the unlock code sites. there are no 'free' options outside of the carrier.
To get the code from ATT, dont you have to pay the full price of the phone though? Also, if you do the 25$ unlock code thingy, does the unlock stay forever (even if I do an update or change ROM's)?

No, I got my code from At&t after owning my device for 40 something days through upgrade and unlock stays forever ...even when OTA or ROM changing.

[Q] Is there any way to SIM unlock the Dinc2 by myself?

I've been trying to do this forever. I'm trying to use it in Canada, I already know it wont work CDMA but will on GSM/Global. Its S-Offed and I know I will probably need to be on the stock ROM so I got back to stock. I can't pay for the service cause I'm a student and need that 10 bucks. Help please?

So there's definitely no way to do it on my own? I can only do it by paying someone?
I have a stock verizon incredible 2 that I need to sim unlock for use in Thailand. Is it really true that the only way to sim unlock this phone is to pay for an unlock code?

I have never been with Verizon so that choice is out of the question. I guess I need to find the cheapest vendor selling the codes.
Thanks.
Just FYI
As of like a week ago unlocking without the carrier's consent is illegal and you can be sued....... Just saying

Maybe for you Americans by US based carriers.
I didn't buy the phone from Verizon. I don't live in the USA. I don't intend to use the phone on any US carrier. Who will sue me again and what law have I broken?
Also I'm pretty sure the law states that it is for devices purchased after last Saturday. Hopefully there aren't a lot of people buying brand new Dinc2s.
Alright, I guess that's it then. Would anyone be able to direct me to a reputable and cheap unlocking service?

The LTE is hardware related and not a software compatibility issue. Otherwise they would have made one phone that works everywhere just by flashing a software version.

I think that should be dependent on the carrier. The law does say they have to unlock after a certain time and they are allowed to charge a reasonable fee. However if you are in the UK CPW do have them in stock unlocked. Unless you want a specific colour linked to a carrier...
