No, you only have to put the 0PFJIMG.zip to your external SD. Then it will give you an alert called: "Do you want to start update" or something others, you have to press the volume up button and then it's updating. But make sure you have stock recovery and locked bootloader, otherwise it will not work.

I did exactly what you say but i did not install stock recovery because my decice:
1) NOT rooted
2) locked bootloader
3) S on
HOW can i install stock recovery without rooting???

I did that but i did not install stock recovery because my device is not rooted......any ideas without rooting

I read your post above. You don't need to install stock recovery because your device has already stock recovery due to locked bootloader and S-ON. Just put the file in root of ext sd and boot to hboot. It will ask to update. So press volume up to update. If it doesn't work after all the posts in xda, then you can contact HTC to fix that problem. Maybe they can find a fix for it or it is an known bug.

I think you still have locked bootloader and stock recovery so just download an update of your choice from internet put it on sdcard in dload folder and update

Search this forum for a link from stock rom, either B512 or B520 for you, download it and put it on your sdcard as a file named update.app in a folder named dload on the root od the sdcard.

I downloaded the taiwan rom my friend and the zip file is not working.. Gives an error of 'decompression failed' / 'invalid archive' when I try to open it..

Gixermouse can you please upload the TW stock rom to another link (dropbox?). The google drive link gives the same error (decompression failed) at the end of the download.

Hi,
I have test the TW stock rom, it's fine that you can't decompression this special zip file.
And I found another way to update this RUU into the Butterfly3.
The system will check the file "0PL2IMG.zip" from ext-SD everytime you boot into download mode(Pow+Vol down), so i change
the stock Rom's name and put it to the root of my EXT SD card, then boot your phone into download mode again, it will show up
some words at the bottom of the screen asking you whether to update the system or not.
Be sure you have done the "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" at recovery mode before you do this.

I have successfully flashed the TW rom from the original link shared by Gixermouse and mrquyen1993. The zip file does give the error but it is meant to be that way (as mentioned by seaturtleSTO).. However, I was still getting errors when trying to flash it on using power + vol down and then vol up.. I had to change the MID of the phone first to 0PL220000 ("command: fastboot oem writemid 0PL220000" in fastboot mode through cmd). I had to then format my external SD card to match byte size of 4096 (initially it was 32Kbytes) NOTE: IF THIS IS NOT DONE THEN YOU CAN'T COPY THE FILE AS IT IS (IN WINDOWS) AND CANNOT FLASH. THE BYTE SIZE HAS TO BE 4096.
After this I copied the file again to ext SD card and flashed it through power + vol down and then vol up. It worked this time !
After the above I followed the guide provided by mrquyen1993 to install the OTA of Marshmallow 6.0 (https://htchtv31.wordpress.com/2016...hat-android-6-0-1-dai-loan-cho-htc-b3-htv-31/). You have to change the CID of the phone to HTC__621 (fastboot oem writecid HTC__621) to successfully download and install Marshmallow.

NOTE: I have S-OFF only with no bootloader unlocked, no root and no TWRP installed. This works for stock phones but needs S-OFF I assume.

You don't extract file rom by rar because it was embedded certificates HTC.
You can install using adb or hboot

I think this only happened because you went from a KDDI ROM to a Taiwan one (which wouldn't work with the wrong CID).
I went from an older KDDI ROM to this one and I didn't need to do anything but the confirmation after download mode.
As for the SD Card, I didn't need to do anything either. I had it formated in exFAT and it just worked.

And yet, you can try to do it in TWRP: 1. Go to recovery mode
2. Then go to wipe
3.Then go there and format data "yes" type and press the Enter key
4. After the go ahead to wipe wipe partition, and then ... chache, delvik cache
System, data, internal sd ..then wipes
5.then Lolipop restore your backup twrp
6.after install backup Ur perform factory reset to wipe section.
7.then again go into formate data section to wipe it "yes" type and press the Enter key
8.now preess system reboot

Which version of the firmware (4.4.4 or 5.0.2) has been on the phone first?. i got a black screen with red triangle and upside down exclamation mark. Press and hold the power button, the volume + button to press,rekaveri phone will enter the menu mode, to reset the cache partition, to reset the factory

@vuk1963 Hey! I neeed your help I've done everything like you said, relocked, stock recovery, renamed 0PFJIMG.zip and put on sd card. Bootloadr reads it, shows loading bar on the edge of screen for like 10 minutes and says "press power to restart!" and that's all... Stil same firmware, nothing've changed :/ Can you help me? Thanks in advance!

I used other sd card and... it said "device halted due to large image update fail" what to do now??

I've tried flashing 5.0.2 image which is 1.4GB and it was fine. This zip is 1.6.. and my desire says it's too big! Why? maybe there's smaller one?

What I wrote it and do it! After these steps, set Stock firmware and the phone will update OTA to 6.0.1

I think my bootloader is broken or something, it won't let me flash firmware. It just says that file is too big

Yes, it's european 820n one sim. Stock recovery flashed, relocked bootloader. still same error:crying::crying:
I have unlocked my zenfone 5z
I didn't notice that unlocking bootloader can not recive any updates
I don't kown how to relock bootloader
Now i just want my phone get update notifications

How to do that bro? I didn't root my phone. Do you have some links ?
Use AFT and flash RAW firmware. I tried that and bootloader warning did not appear.

i have relock my bootloader but i haven't ota updates and if i want to update i flash the stock firmware in stock recovery
i put the firmware in external sd card and in stock recovery you can choose update by external sd card

In that case, set up Android platform-tools (ADB) on your PC and then sideload using:
Code:
adb sideload "filename.zip"
Replace filename.zip with the actual name of the OTA ZIP. Remember to not include the quotes.
