Review: MKBHD dBrand Skins for OnePlus 2 - OnePlus 2 Accessories

Review for the MKBHD dBrand Skins for OnePlus 2
Why I got the skins
I am subscribed to the Massdrop newsletter which I saw a skin pack from MKBHD by dbrand, containing a black, white and red skin for the back of the phone. I checked for which devices these skins where available for and lo and behold it was available for the OnePlus 2, so I ordered them straight away
Packaging
After receiving the skins, I was actually quite impressed with the packaging by both Massdrop and dbrand. In the picture below you can see it was held in a plastic wallet with a cover on it. The over contains the MKBHD logo and on the back there's some social media links to MKBHD, nothing too much special on the cover.
Package contents
The package contained three skins: black, white, red and their accompanying OnePlus logos (also in those three colours). Nothing too special in this aspect as the skins are what you expect them to be. They are thick carbon fibre textured, high quality skins. The cutouts are absolutely perfect on the skins. Also dbrand has given us 4 logo cutouts per colour, so don't worry about messing it up. I luckily did it in one go so that means I could potentially use the cutouts again.
Applying the skin
dbrand are very helpful in this aspect, they provide you a video which can be found on their website on how to apply a skin to your specific device. The application on the OnePlus 2 was quite easy as you can align the cutout of the skin to the camera to make it fit perfectly. It took me a couple of times trying but I managed to do it (I used my sandstone cover). I am not giving you a guide on here so if you want to know how to apply your skin just check the video out on their website. The logo cutouts were a bit fiddly as they are very small but like I mentioned above you have 4 different individual logo cutouts.
Durability
I have used this skin quite extensively over the past 4 weeks and I have to say that this skin is quite solid, so far no marks or tears on the skin. Big ups to dbrand creating these high quality skins. I will of course update this thread if it eventually does.
Final verdict
I give these skins a 8.5/10. I can explain why I have given this score. The skins are absolutely perfect until I what I noticed a few days ago. I wanted to take my cover of to replace it with another styleswap cover, but noticed that the skin was covering the area where you would normally clip of the cover. dbrand could've very easily fixed this by just adding a small indent so you can still take of your cover. I had to DIY cut it off with a razor blade but left a few scuffs. That is why I have given this product a 8.5/10

Review: DBA Cases Complete Ultra

DBA Cases is running a Veterans Day sale! This sale is being run on November 11 - 12, 2012.
Coupon Code: Vet2012 for 25% off your entire order!
I am sorry for the delay to finish this review. I apologize to everyone here and to Scott @ DBA Cases. I guess I got went overboard got engulfed in my EDC hobby. Lol.
Today, I am reviewing the Ultra Case. With the Thin Grip being my daily case, I was glad to see there was something out there with the same material with even more protection! What's even better is there are a total of 35 different color combinations available. Talk about options! On top of all that, Scott @ DBA Cases practices the best personal customer service experience I have seen in this line of business.
DBA Cases is still growing and needs everyone's support. The prices are more than fair and his products cost far less than some high end companies charge for the same or less protection. What they have done that is completely different is have a two part protective case where you can choose the colors to suit your taste. There are 7 colors of TPU available and 5 colors of Polycarbonate. You can by any of these for just $12.50 each. Should you want to vary your case colors you can buy any of these separately and change the look anytime you want.

The TPU has a glossy finish on the outside and matte finish on the inside. There is very grippy texture on the sides. One of the ways DBA Cases protects your phone is to put a good grip on everything they make. The less you drop it the better. This is the inside layer of the two part case.
The outside shell, also known as the Ultra PC is the same material as the Thin Grip.Made of an extremely high end polycarbonate it flexes when dropped. This is the first part of the case that will take an impact, the TPU inside is the second and easily absorbs any leftover shock the outer shell does not. What is extremely nice is that should the outside shell crack you can replace it for just $12.50 rather than the full cost of a new case. An exclusive feature found in the DBA Cases lineup is the cut out of the camera and speaker openings. It also does an excellent job at keeping the camera off the surfaces you may lay your phone on. Again, the finish is high end. It is very resilient.
This case is very lightweight and comes in under an oz. Very minimal and not bulky.

[Review] A Kin Leaves skin for HTC One

Hello,
Just wanted to check in with skins for my new gadgets (s4 for my gf/htc one for me/xperia z as my secondary phone)- this topic is about a Kin Leaves skin I just received for my One. I got my One few days after the unveiling under an NDA that just ran out. About a week ago I ordered a skin from kinleaves.com as they were the first ones to add support for One.
1) Shipping- the shipping is free worldwide and they ship inside a cute amazon style envelopes. Every skin is packaged in its own translucent envelope with setup instructions enclosed.
2) Price- somewhere between highly priced zagg products and the chinese ones. Judging by the fact no other vinyl skin supplier could help me at the moment- price was no object for such a small purchase (~8.50 EUR/12 USD).
3) Quality- all great here. Love the semi matte surface finish.
4) Ease of application- skin for One didn't include anything for the front, so putting on just the back was fairly easy and I, personally, believe anyone would be able to install one without any problems. This one didn't stick to the surface right away, so positioning was no challenge. After you press the skin against the surface- the adhesive becomes sticky. I have had skins on all my gadgets ever since my old BB in 2008.
^I recopied the points from my s4 skin review, nothing has changed a lot up there.

Can you link me to the one that you got for the Xperia Z? I would love that design on my One.
Here it is

That looks seriously nice. You can even create your own designs! It seems a shame to cover up that sexy rear so why not make a back cover that looks like the One but add a random design or logo to it?
Yeah, I did make a custom skin to my old Amazon KF, pics here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686477

Cruzerlite Nexus 5 Skin Review

I purchased this skin directly from Cruzerlite and it came with in a few days time. I have had a few skins for my Nexus 5 and this one fits and feels really well. The cut outs are spot on and each side piece fits perfectly around the edges. I did have to use a hair dryer to smooth out the corners a bit but that is to be expected.
I like the texture of the skin; kind of like a lizard skin if you will. The color however isn't close to the render that we is on Amazon or Cruzerlite.com. It is more of a light green or if you want to compare the color to a fruit - Avocado, and not lime green. Yes monitors can differ from one another and can cause it to look different, however, my monitors are calibrated.
The skin will protect the phone from scratches and scrapes and it makes the phone more to your style. It is made with 3M vinyl and it is fairly thick which helped with the instillation. I tried a Florescent Red from Cruzerlite and that skin was very thin and was hard to get on correctly. Not sure if all of the Florescent skins are thin like the one I had.
Pros-
Easy Instillation
Great Fit
Protects from Scratches
Price
Look and Feel
Extra Fronts and Sides just in case you mess up some how.
Cons-
Color is a bit off from the render.
On to the florescent red skin.
This one is a bit of a different story.
The skin was very thin and hard to align and Could not for the life of me get the bubbles out of it. I did like the color of it though. Very bright!
I would for the time being stay away from those skins. Too difficult and too bubbly.
Did you use a hair dryer when installing the green one? If that’s the result I would definitely stay away from it – I couldn’t use a phone skin with back corners lifted/creased up like that, it will get dust/lint in no time and will eventually peeled off
As I mentioned in the Cruzerlite thread earlier that they should provide “real” images of the skins so the customer know what color/look they’ll really get.
I did after I took the pictures. Much better now.

Is it just me or do these skins look super tacky and cheapens the phone. It's like wrapping your sofa up in plastic.

Hello,Fellow Nexus 5 Users! This is the review of the SlickWraps Skin for our Google Nexus 5.Most of you might have heard of SlickWraps. They produce a variety of skins for a plethora of devices such as smartphones, consoles, smartwatches etc.Do check out their website www.slickwraps.com and I’d like to thank them for sending one out to me for review.
So,The skin which I have here is the white alligator skin from the leather series. The package came to me by Post,Slickwraps does send these skins worldwide.Inside the package,The are the front, side and rear wraps for the Nexus 5 along with 3 tiny wraps for the USB cable and wall adapter.Slickwraps also includes a nice clear Screen Protector inside the Package.
The screen protector is good.It only covers the screen instead of covering the whole front of the phone. This prevent any TPU case from creeping under the protector and removing it
Installation
Coming to the skin, the installation is actually pretty simple.Just align the skin properly with all the ports and the buttons and you are good to go.Do keep a hair dryer next to you while installing because after installing the skin, you need to use it around the sides and edges of the screen. This will melt the vinyl of the skin and it will stick properly to the phone. Also, this skin is removable and it will not leave any residue. So if you don't get it right the first time, you can re apply it again. Also, when applying the front skin, make sure not to cover the proximity sensor because if you do, the screen would go off,in case you try to call someone.Try to keep the notification light blinking so that you don't cover it either.
My Opinions and Review
After using the skin for a few days,I feel that it is a nice little addition to the Nexus 5.It gives the phone a different look than the traditional colors and makes your phone stand out from the crowd. The cut outs are perfect for all the phones but I feel that the finishing of the skin is great but it could be slightly better. The skin attaches perfectly to the phone and it won't get detached from the phone accidentally.Overall, the skin feels very nice and in my opinion the white leather skin which I have looks amazing on the Nexus 5.For $16.95,considering that you also get a screen protector,it is definitely worth checking out.SlickWraps also did send me its camera lens protector and a few Nexus 'X' Stickers.
If you don't like this particular skin, there are many other series and colours to choose from.I have attacthed high resolution images of the skin in this thread.I hope you guys like it.

GadgetShieldz Skinnova for Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

Got my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact couple of months back and have got to say this is the size that exactly fits my needs. Have been searching for a perfect phone after my old Motorola Defy started giving up on. Switched to Moto G, Razr M and finally this.
The problem was the rear glass panel which I was afraid I would definitely put scratches on given my rough usage. Also the phone used to slip out of my sweaty palms. So got a Cruzerlite protection but it made my phone pretty bulky. While searching for other solutions I came across this beautiful product from GadgetShields called Skinnova. I had earlier bough full body protection for my Moto Defy and Moto G from GadgetShieldz, but had never seen full body skins earlier. Probably these were introduced recently. The reviews online on different forums were good but nobody had tried it on Z3C. Also I wanted carbon black skin which would look awesome but it was not available then. I finalized on Black leather skin though was not very happy about it. But then I decided to wait. What can I say. The wait was worth it. I saw the black carbon fiber skin listed on gadgetshieldz and without any further delay purchased it right away. Thanks to excellent shipping I received the product within 24 hours.
The application was very easy. The air-channel technology really makes it easy to apply this skin. No bubbles whatsoever. Also this being a colored skin, bubbles wouldn't have much difference unlike screen protector. The adhesive is high quality and the carbon fiber texture is excellent. The cutouts fit precisely. It didn't take me long to align the cutouts and fix the skin. I didn't apply the front skin as I though it would make this beautiful phone look ugly.
Phone tended to be a bit slippery on sides with skin. So after usage of about 2 weeks I thought of doing away with the side skin. The removal was completely residue free. Now I have only the rear skin on the phone. It definitely provides a good grip compared to the naked glossy rear glass. Would definitely recommend this product to any one looking for a good make over of their phone. Real pictures to follow soon.
