Avin Avant2 info wanted - Connected Car

Hi everyone,
I'm pretty new here but looking to get some info on what is needed to get a new clean ROM on my Avin Avant2.
From what I've found
CPU: MST786 - ARM A9 Dual Core
MCU: CA03-N043-LT01-A3-R0.9.57S
From what I've read, it's a universal double din but the MCU doesn't match any other MCU I've seen in the forums. Is there any options in getting a pure android ROM on the Avant2?
I guess my biggest gripe is the "car-home" app or system that is imbedded into the ROM. It actually slows everything down. When I hit the home button, I get a "car home is loading" toast before actually getting to the home screen. I've disabled the actual UI but can't get rid of the actual app/program.
Anyone have any insight to that? What would you guys need me to load up in order to get more information?
Thank you!

I'm in the same boat as you. Bump for info!

WM6.5 build 28008 - 15mb page pool - New Updated
http://rapidshare.com/files/315869018/Epix28008_15mb.bin
*Capable of viewing Chinese and Japanese - I added this for myself but forgot to remove it when building the new bin
- Nicer title bar and battery percentage status bar
- Added few utilities: PHM RegEdit, Pocket RAR, Pocket Screen Capture, psShutXP and Totalcmd
- Fixed Wi-Fi, proxy manager and ring tunes
- Further cleaned up the Samsung/AT&T applications and settings
- Added Enhanced GPS settings and HSDPA setting in control panel
- IE default home page to Google.com
*Mouse pixel rendering is still an issue due to the OEM driver.*
This rom should be one of the best Epix Winmo 6.5.
Buy me a coke!
* Boot on first initialization screen will be slow - I think it's the nature of WM6.5 and also using WM6.1 drivers
* Mouse rendering is still an issue
--Use this rom at your own risk--If you don't know how to flash a custom rom, please ask or else you might ended up with a korean made, hi-tech brick.

It's just like all other WM6.5 versions...I did not add anything extra yet.
Downloading now
Thanks for putting so much effort into this.

Can you add the palm threaded messaging when you get the chance ?, because it works really well on my epix. Also, the percentage battery icon from your previous rom kills the battery pretty fast.
Thanks for your hard work

Startup is a little slow, but otherwise it definitely works. Trashcan's the man. Also for anyone wondering the VGA patch works on this ROM, though the menus are still HUGE...
One other thing, device.exe usage is still through the roof after using GPS... ugh..

well that sucks, but not unexpected. The GPS cpu usage is linked to the phone portion of the rom that was updated in ID1. Either way, flashing now and looking to see what's new. (At least I don't have to wait for AT&T/Samsung to push out an update for 6.5)

When I originally flashed the update, no matter what I did I couldn't get the "phone" portion to update so I ended up with a new "pda" version but retained the old "phone" portion. I was pissed at first, but I have none of the device.exe issues, no slog dumps, and things are generally pretty stable. Maybe that's the way to here as well? Use 6.5 with the old radio?
If only those of us with the new radio could reflash the old radio...I still prefer this form factor over the Fuze I'm using now.
The rom is running smoothly, but I noticed that none of the shortcut keys seem to be working and I'm not sure how to get the camera to work. Also, seems to be a little square of distortion in the middle of the screen, or wherever the cursor of the mouse is.
Two quick questions before taking the plunge:
1. Is the process the same as the 'trashcan' 6.1 update but with a different .bin?
2. Can the 6.5 ROM be re-flashed back to the 6.1 with the same process?
Thanks for all the hard work on this!!
GREAT job trashcan! w00t!
Not to seem ungrateful, I'm really excited, but I thought I would compile some of the issues I've found so far, I know some posts have already identified them, but I made a list!
some of the ring tones are corrupt (ring-standard .wma) for instance
when enabling pin lock (required by exchange), the first few times the lock screen comes up it pretty much freezes the phone
graphics buffer corruption where the mouse pointer is
with the high-dpi fix, IE won't start
camera application reports missing dependency
I've noticed connectivity issues - upon boot, everything works, but then the network connection dies and I have to reboot
right after flashing the phone it took about 5 minutes stuck on the orange Windows screen and wouldn't respond to anything, I don't know if this is normal for 6.5 or just because the rom is running a little slow, but hopefully everyone who is gonna flash will read this and know to expect it

Yeah hopefully they finish that new gdmfing phone rom, supposedly they're aware of the issue and are supposed to redo the ID1 update.
As far as the ROM: Only real issue i've noticed is sometimes switching screens there's a graphical artifact in the middle of the screen, it's like a box where the pixels render screwed up, like there's something "layered" behind the window messing up how it draws the image, if you get what I'm saying. Edit: it's the mouse pointer as others pointed out, didn't see page 2, I use 4 way nav instead of pointer but the pointer seems to still "be there" in the background. I also noticed the initial boot took AGES, but it's decently quick now.

These are 2 questions I would also like to know. Also does anybody have any link for the program to flash the bin file? I've never done a non official rom for my Epix yet, but this one looks like a gooden.
1. Yea, same procedure
2. I don't see any reason why you couldn't go back to 6.1, although I haven't tried
3. I used grandprix 1.6.4 on win7 (vista version)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8ie3738v
I downloaded the program to flash and it looks pretty straight froward. But I would like to confirm the steps before I do it and brick my phone. I see you have to select a profile, then it will let you select the image. Select the image in PDA, and then do I leave the others blank? Also after that I'm kind of lost a bit... Sorry I'm a n00b on this. I've done the older Cingular 8525 and the Blackjack but that be about it.
That is what I did exactly. I chose the BIN in PDA, left the others blank. Then turn off the phone, plug into USB, click the "Detect" button, and turn phone back on. Then....wait. The program froze on me at Writing Fake CSC Header, so I ripped out the USB after a while and tried to turn it off and back on. And BAM: WinMo 6.5

Can you have seperate wallpapers for portrait and landscape?

Hi guys.
I did try searching but didn't find anything about this.
I miss having separate wallpapers for portrait and landscape like I had on my TP2.
Is it possible to do this on a G1, with 1.6, and no root?
(Please don't start the "why don't you root" stuff, at this point in time I will not get any benefit from it, I don't feel like changing all my settings again, and there seems to be no definite guide for UK DRC92.)
android has no built in feature that allows you to do this but there may be a home replacement app that will do this, not sure though

I was kind of hoping there was an app that'd allow this with the stock home, every home replacement I've tried has either been laggy, FC's a lot, or is just useless in general.
I am not aware of any such feature. It's not doable in the stock home screen or any home replacement I'm aware of.

Dual Wallpaper allows the user to select two different wallpapers to be set when the phone is either in Landscape or Portrait mode.
When the orientation changes, the application will automatically change the wallpaper.
For 2.x phones only
Does NOT require root.
Latest version: 1.0.0 (for Android version 2.0 and higher)

At least we're getting closer!

[q] ics-menu-button

Hey all!
You sure all know blubber's 3-dot-remover Patch..
I use it to remove this annoying bar on the screen's bottom when using a "old"-non -ICS-app with the menu-long-press-home configuration, because I use multitasking a lot, and just want the home fix for the old apps.
However, in blubber's first Aroma-version of the 1.29.xxx.x patch, it worked wonderful, an the NEW ICS MENU BUTTON in the ACTION BAR, which i love a lot, was still there.
Sadly, in the newer version it is gone
As I didn't know that when updating to the patch's new version, I deleted the "old" version..
So, my question is, does anyone know how to get the ICS-MENU back, or does anyone still has the "old" version of the patch and can upload it for me?
That would be really awesome! Thanks.

Why does my question has a small q in the Title? o__O

Please do not shoot me

Hey guys,
First of all let me thank you for taking the time to read my question. I tried to prevent this post but as I really don`t like bricking my unit I felt like I had to confirm my suspicions, couldn`t confirm this myself as the search button has not been proven to be my friend
I have a GS (Hot Audio) unit 800 * 480 RK3066 running on a rooted Android 4.4.2 at the moment and wanted to upgrade this to 4.4.4 however since my last visit to this wonderful forum a lot a changed and given me a case of information overload. Therefor I have the following questions.
- It is not mandatory to include the MCU.img in the update package
- Otherwise I can take one of these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3246370 (Top 4)
- I can use any update.img as long as the resolution and chip number is correct. In other words there is no need anymore to look at the model KLD/GS/KGL (This one for example: http://huifei.fs-fileserver.de/content/firmware/KK 4.4.4 Dual core Coudu Rooted /KLD/800x480/)
If you would be able to relieve me of these doubts I would be very grateful.
Thank you all again :good:
No one will shoot you. Ignore the grumps.
You are correct on all three points as long as you are sure of your head unit's make/details which sounds like you are. I know you used it for an example but in your third point you linked to Coudu's ROMs which are way outdated, stick to Malaysk's as they are superb.
Just be aware that there might be some settings (thinking of the configurable sleep timer delay) in newer ROMs that require an updated MCU so something like that won't work if your MCU is too old. But I don't know how applicable this is to you as I don't know what MCU revision you have for your GS. You can always update your MCU at a later time by itself if need be, no biggie.
Well a small update I just finished the install and to be honest I wished I would have done it much, much earlier Malasyk has done some incredible work
Thx again for your help again :good:

Ugar 7" android 4.4 help!

Ok so just bought a new car head unit, the one stated above to save some space and time, it's on Android 4.4 AC8xx, and rooted. I've read the forums over and over and have seen that I can adb over network to the deck and install twrp, though I'm not sure if it's comparable with my unit, I would love to remove a lot of the crap it came with except for the radio app. It would be really cool to have a custom rom if any exists. I'm not sure if anyone even visits this thread but if you do help would be amazing ??

You need to go into settings and look at the about machine or something like that.
It has to say MTCB with some other stuff under MCU Version
If it says something like MTCB-????-V???
??? can be anything
Check it says nothing lol just the kernel version :/
Says MCU v1.0.0_2017.6.21.4.52

Sorry, none of these roms will work. I'm not sure if their is a listing here. Better check in the main area for the MCU info.
