TWRP Recovery 3.0.2 with decryption fix - X Style (Pure) Original Android Development

In case anyone else is having issues using TWRP with CM 13 encryption, the issue is already fixed in TWRP code, they just haven't released a new build. So I've done my own build off nightly sources.
Hopefully this will help out anyone else who can't get TWRP 3.0.2 to access encrypted /data .

Nice idea, however, you appear to have chosen quite possibly the worst hosting website in the history of man! Why do I need to sign up to be able to download a file? Makes no sense to me. Thanks anyway.

Why don't you submit the fix to the OFFICIAL TWRP thread?

I didn't create the fix myself. It's already in the official TWRP sources. They just haven't released a new build since fixing it. It's also worth noting that the bug is not device specific. If I understand correctly it appears in all MM devices that use hardware encryption.
I didn't post in the official thread because this isn't an official build.

Done. Thanks for the tip.

Is there a reason why I cannot seem to use "adb" or "adb shell" while booted into this copy of TWRP?

ok, dowloading now =D!
Thanks..
Maxisma, if i understand correctly, you and Lox are working together to create CM6?
Not too sure what the "nightly" naming gives out, but imo (and i mean no offence) it would be better if you had one thread and updated the first post, until we get to a beta phase.
my 2cents.
Thanks for your work.

Well, Lox does most of the work.
The naming "nightly" means that these are builds which are compiled automatically daily.
These builds can be more stable, or less stable.
This is for the impatient guys within this community.
How is working peoples?
My Hero is in a shop now it is searching for a new owner...
Runs pretty nice so far. I had 1 random reboot tho. Thnx for your work!
Flashed over the top of Loxs' version and so far so good.
Seems smoother and faster, but that may just be down to ' new rom flashed' syndrome ( ie, all in my head) lol
It's great to be on the CM bandwagon at last, I've been running AOSP rom's since january and froyo may help get a few more Sense addicts cured ;-)
Does this ROM need a specific radio? As I'm currently on VillainROM10.2, it should be fine right? Just wipe and flash?
Great work to everyone working on Froyo,
I suspect everything works including camera?
you suspect wrong ;p
lots of thanks for sharing
Here is a Mirror for GAPPS - as that one above on rapidshare has expired.
http://rapidshare.com/files/404934792/gapps-passion-FRF83-signed.zip.html <---from a premium account and therefore will not expire
Any plans when camera is going to work? Or may be it IS already working?
Just wondering: Is it okay to flash the nightlies over the current ROM (without wiping etc..), and will there be changelogs?
Thanks.

Hi, does your Rom require a specific radio, or is fine to use any???
Thanks!
No Root through ADB?
Seems these builds have no root access through ADB. Apps do get access to root, but ADB seems messy.
adb shell works which ends up no root unless you "su".
adb remount doesnt work and mounting while su in the shell throws an error.
Hope this get's resolved
p.s. Had no such issues on the original test0 posted by lox

Hey,
Are there any stock roms we can flash via CWM/TWRP? Flashed the CM10 rom, but can't stand how slow its made my wifi. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Slow wifi? I have no idea what you're talking about as I don't think CM10 can affect that in any way.
TWRP is all we have so far, and CM10 is the only ROM so far. The only other ROM even remotely being worked on is MIUI but the person doing that says he will be without his PC for a few days.
If you really have wifi issues check other devices on the same network and use speedtest.net or something. If it really is oddly slow, I would re-flash.

It's definitely not my network, specifically occurring on the KF2 with the unofficial CM10 rom.
I'm not looking for another group release, but the stock rom; someone else mentioned in a thread being able to rename the amazon update .bin file to .zip, and flash with TWRP, but that hasn't worked so far.

[R&D]Fire Phone Images

Hello everyone.
I'm SafinWasi. I know I'm new to the Fire Phone forums, but I found something big,so I thought that I should post it here.
It seems that unlike the Kindle Fire Tablet series which used a TI OMAP based chipset, the Fire Phone uses a Qualcomm MSM based chipset. That being said,we should now have access to the Fire OS images for modding.
To those who have root:
Please use the following steps to get the boot and recovery images:
Using ES File Explorer, mount system and "/" path as rw- and navigate to /dev/block/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/ and copy "boot" and "recovery" to sdcard.
Please send the two images to me via PM or post it in this thread so that I may open them up for examining.

Thank you once again for getting the ball rolling on this. I had (almost) lost hope!
Absolutely certain root is needed to pull any of the files. I have tried every method possible through ES (e-mail, BT, MMS, copying the file to /sdcard/, etc.)
Another thing I can try is to obtain root on my phone. Someone mentioned towelroot has many different versions floating around, I've only tried the v3 from geohot's site. I'll find some other sources & see if I can't get lucky.

Judging by the 35,000 units sold, and not much interest / activity for this phone on XDA, I doubt anyone's requested it. I sent the following email to Amazon which "escalated" my issue, & also sent the email directly to Jeff Bezos. It's a long shot but let's hope it makes some noise. By AOSP guidelines, they are required to release the device's source code.
The Android Open Source Project (AOSP) has compliance guidelines for companies which produce & distribute devices containing the Android operating system. The recently released Fire Phone operates on the Fire OS, which is a modified version of Android 4.2 "Jelly Bean".
In order to comply with the AOSP guidelines, Amazon is required to release the source code for the Fire Phone device, which it has not.
Please make the source code available for download.
Thank you.

Since the boot loader is locked, I doubt that custom recoveries would be possible, but SafeStrap is definitely a probability.

If anyone knows of a safe place for me to download old versions of towel root I can try to help with pulling the image. AT&T for some reason can't find my phone on their network so it's basically a paperweight and don't mind trying to help with this. If there are other methods I can try to root let me know as well. I can give them a shot when I have some down time.

@SafinWasi and all - I posted the APK in a separate thread in this same sub-forum. In retrospect, I should've just posted in this thread.
EDIT: I believe Towelroot will only work on this phone if you haven't updated to 3.5.1. I'm searching for a way to revert my phone to 3.5 to test this. The Amazon AWS site only has the most recent version available for download.
2ND EDIT: @SafinWasi - I found the old 3.5 OS download link in another thread. The file has a *.bin extension and is 1.12GB. We know through the recovery we can "update via ADB" which will prompt you to adb sideload an update file. I'm thinking I'll try this to get back on 3.5 & towelroot it.
Fire OS 3.5 (thanks to @ONYXis) - https://s3.amazonaws.com/fire-phone-updates/update-fire-phone-121_1.0.1_user_101012120.bin
First of all, I take no credit for these images. I received these from @Dilbert1959 who has confirmed root access using towelroot on Fire OS 3.5. I simply compressed the images to an acceptable file size for XDA.
@SafinWasi - Feel free to move these images to the OP.

Unable to turn on write permissions to host file.

Thanks for any assistance.
Hmmm... That's something new to me. Must be some miui thing keeping it protected to run their ads. Did you try AdAway or similar that writes/replaces the file directly?
BTW ES FileExplorer is not what it used to be, full of useless and annoying "features". Try MiXplorer and thank me later.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23109280
Thanks! I was thinking the same about Miui somehow locking it down. I did try AdAway (first thing) and it just fails at the "applying" stage. That is what made me look at the permissions of the hosts file. Do you think I have to configure AdAway differently to work on here? It has always been straight forward on all of my other devices.
I am gong to try MiXplorer. Thank you for that bit of information. We'll see how it works.

You need need to disable SELinux with this app and then try again.
Thank you Doom Slayer as well! I used SELinuxModeChanger-v3.2.apk and MiExplorer thanks to your suggestions.
I still find that the system remains unaffected. From within AdAway I cannot even do Open Hosts File.
However, a plain hosts editor app has no issues in both opening and adding entries manually.
Could be some clues there?

Yes I'm on Global Beta because I'm using Hydrogen (3GB/32GB) version of Mi Max and you are having Helium (3GB/64GB) so you may be using the chinese developer edition but that should not make any difference in using AdAway. Official Stuff (media, website, forum, profiles etc)

There's already a lot of Facebook pages, Twitter profiles and even websites claiming to be LineageOS.
Pretty please, put info about your oficial social media, reddit, github, forum or anything else somewhere here on XDA and your website (lineageos.org, is it even the official one?). That way people will be a little cautious before downloading wrong or malicious files.
If there are any info about that here already, sorry, but I couldn't find it.

Yeah, I don't either but I'm pretty sure they won't have that running until very last since it requires working build servers. I'm actually kind of surprised the wiki isn't up and running. I mean how hard is it to get wiki running on a server? I just mean compared to What's already running like gerrit and such.
Edit: Looks like we're getting closer. Weekly builds instead of nightlies which is fine. Also they updated the download page to have a slide out menu on mobile now. https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/155809/
