Corrupted my 200gb Micro SD when trying to convert it to internal storage on Shield - Shield Accessories

I wanted to convert my 200gb micro sd card into internal storage for my Nvidia Shield tablet. For the specifications of the N. Shield it said 128gb was the biggest storage possible for a micro sd card, but I'd seen multiple cases of people using 200gb micro sd cards just fine on the shield.
I started the formatting process ,it got stuck at 20% and then crashed. I restarted my tablet to find that the SD card had become corrupted. I brought a micro sd adaptor and plugged it into the computer. I tried to format it from the computer to find the error message: "The volume does not contain a recognized file system". I check disk management to find that it only has 30mb storage.
I've have tried everything to restore it back to 200gb, but it still shows up as only having 30mb.
This is what I've done so far: 1) Everything diskpart related.
2) Like a dozen SD formatting programs
3) Partition tools have also failed
What do I do now? I don't want $200 down the drain.

You could try using DISKPART on Windows or the disk utility on a MAC and try to repair the volume that way, other than that I think your SD Card is made by SanDisk who has a lifetime no questions asked warranty.
I originally used the Best Buy "Pixtor" branded SanDisk card in my Portable and they replaced it with an Ultra no questions asked, (64GB U1) SD Cards die unfortunately, just call them, don't do what I did and waste 4 hours trying to fix it lol.
P.S. It sounds like the format got to 20% and found a bad sector.

I recently "soft-bricked" a brand new SanDisk 200GB card. I was able to recover the wiped partition. I recommend you try Minitool Parition Manager. If that doesn't work, try Minitool Data Recovery. I had to end up utilizing the Data Recovery program. Now it works, and my 200GB SanDisk is good as new. If you can't seem to repair it, like @Neoistheone2000 said, your warranty will cover it Though it sucks having to go through an exchange process. Amazon is the best for situations like that.

Use any partition utility that is not built into Windows. Minitool per above, any flavor of Gparted, etc. "Real" tools will bring back any bad drive that is not a hardware failure. Ironic to many, Mac's Disk Utility is actually quite capable in this regard, as well.

Help, my 16gb card shows as 1gb after a crash in a middle of partitioning with gpart

Hello,
My rom(iNsertCoin) has crashed today for an unknown reason, and entered nonstop bootloops.
I have tried to reflash the iNsertcoin zip but it didnt work for some reason, also it told me it cant mount the sd-ext (I am using ra-desire 2.0.0).
I have turned the phone off, and when I returned home I put my A-Data 16gb Class 10 Microsd (which was bought from newegg, so it cant be fake) in my card reader, and I started to partition the card like this: 1gb ext4, 300mb ext4, 100mb linux-swap, rest to fat32.
all of a sudden the program just crashed and from that point it tells me the card has 1gb unallocated space, in windows 7 it keeps asking me to format the card but it never succeeds, and it says the card uses raw file system.
I have tried chkdsk, and it told me its not available for raw filesystems.
I have also tried a number of programs, the HP partition tool, SDFormatter, nothing really helped.
Also, I tried using diskpart -> clean all command on the card but it keeps giving me weird error messages but usually it tells me its not ready, and it looks like the card is not responsive, although the pc recongized it.
I have tried doing this from a number of computers, another W7 computer and a XP computer. nothing worked.
I cant allocate space in gparted, and it tells me to create a partition table, and when I try that, the program just hangs.
Oh yeah, and I tried to put the microsd card into an adapter and put it in my dad's dslr and tried to format it, but there was an error.
Have I killed my microsd card? :/

I was able to Format a 64Gb on my Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX by using "SD Formatter", (this is the "SanDisk Formatter"). If you use Windows 7 Formatter, then you'll probably only see that the Memory Card can be Formatted to 8GB. Don't do this or you'll have an 8Gb Memory Card, instead of 64Gb, (you'll only get about 59.4Gb available if done the way that I did it). Use the "SD Formatter" instead.
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/SDFormatter_3.1e.pdf/
I first Formatted it as exFAT, then as FAT, (may have been FAT32).
The Motorola Droid doesn't say that it will support the new Secure Digital Extreme Capacity, (SDXC), rather than Secure Digital Extreme Capacity, (SDHC), so the RAZR MAXX kept telling me there was no Memory Card, but I reformatted it using SD Formater as FAT, (may have been FAT32), and I now have 80 Gb of working Memory in my Droid, (64Gb + 16Gb Internal).
Better Answers:
I don't believe that you will won't to Format a Memory Card as NTFS.
Google "NTFS,FAT32,exFAT formatting?" to find out more information.

I can only add that I bought one about week ago and it was like this. The card was preformated in exFat. Windows 7 have seen all of the 59,4GB. I've tried copying some mp3s. A few were copied and then suddenly froze. Copying forever... Tried once more - the same. Tried formating: exFat, NTFS, Fat32 nothing worked, only error that operation of formating couldn't be completed. SD formatter app throwed error about card being locked but I didn't use adapter so it was impossible. Tried even GParted to delete partitions of the card but only get an error. After a week of struggling with SanDisk consultant blaming me that it's my fault, that I don't have proper reader (it was reading SDHC card without issue and as far as I know they are compatible) I've bought SDXC compatible reader and still nothing. Then they let me do an RMA and said that it can take about 4 weeks until I see replacement. I don't recommend buying anything from them. So if something will go wrong you will wait foooooreeeevvvvvaaaa....
When I will get my replacement I will probably format to NTFS too as we oppose to SIII can't use exFat. But I've read somewhere that you need an app (or some skills ) to mount it properly. I don't remember exactly but I think it was something like NTFS Mount from Play.

From what you advised here Squicky, the MicroSD Card you received was faulty. I had the exact same issue, sent it back and got the response that it was a faulty product, and they would replace it at no cost, none of the issues of saying it was my fault.
From other things that I have read around the forums such as here, formatting using your phone directly would be more beneficial. The phone can format to most File Systems, and even if your ROM Doesn't support the File system, you can use ntfssd to format to NTFS and mount in your phone =)

LG G3 D851 external SD Card problems

I have a freshly formatted 32 gb micro SD card (fat32) that I put in my Freshly rooted phone using Bliss Pop Rom. When I boot up my phone, go to storage and mount the micro SD, it automatically says that it now has 15bgb on it. Using ES file explorer I examine the contents of the card and there is nothing on it but yet it reads as 15gb left. What's worse is that when I try to copy or move a file to it, a message saying not enough space please free up space to proceed. I Googled the crap out of this issue. No luck. Please help. I use a lot of storage and the SD card is important to me.
Try on stock rom. If it works then stay on stock. Can't stress this enough. CM is to play around with but not as a daily driver. CM is garbage

Just to follow up. . I formatted the card on a PC using a an SD card adapter. After that I had the problem. I researched it and apparently that can mess up, corrupt micro SD cards. So I popped the same micro SD card in my Galaxy s5 and formatted it and the tried it in my LG G3 and it mounted and now works great.
Your microSD card isn't formatted properly

SD cards and microSD cards should not be formatted by the Windows, Apple, or other default program. If you're running Windows, download and install SDFormatter. SD cards have special hidden files that are deleted by the Windows regular formatter. SDFormatter handles the removable media properly.
If you are going to use the SD or mSD card in a particular device, you should >always< format the card in that device before using it.
Yes, what the previous poster said... I wish you could have asked before you did it. Windows is bad at formatting for anything other than NTFS and so is Mac. If you have to format at all, use TWRP. But me personally I recommend to never ever format. I have always managed to turn them into RAW due to multiple formatting because like ivanabq said, Windows just deleted those files. These files are used by Android to read where everything is and if they are gone, it doesn't know how to read the card anymore. Good luck. Hope you get the space back.
Also could you tell us the brand of your microSD? Sometimes the knockoff brands will advertise more space and once you format it, it reveals that it is far less. You might be able to get a full refund knockoff or not.

micro sd card problem

I'm having a problem with this brand new 32GB kingston canvas select micro sd card. Bought it for my dad, he's using a 100% stock G5. When first plugged in, the phone asked if the card was going to be used for internal or external storage, chose internal because my dad is kind of an app maniac (yeah, I know, tried to get him to stop but he's stubborn), formatting stopped at 30% for 10 minutes. Rebooted the phone, it stopped recognizing the sd card. Tried it on my phone, which is also using a 32GB kingston sd, and it didn't recognize it either, on the PC it works fine. Tried formatting it to every file system known to man and none of the phones will even know there's an sd card plugged in when using that particular sd card, but both will work fine with other cards. Could someone give me a hand with this?
I would use minitool (windows) or gparted (Linux)
Delete all partitions on sdcard
Create a new fat32 primary partition and format it

SD card issues on reboot

I bought a G7 Play during Thanksgiving sales at Wal-Mart. It's been running fine until today, when I rebooted.
It's stock. I haven't unlocked the bootloader or rooted it.
I have a 64 GB PNY Elite SD card configured to be portable storage.
Today, when I rebooted, I got a notification "SD card issue. Tap to fix." When I tapped, it wanted to know whether I wanted to use the SD card as adoptable or portable storage, and wanted me to reformat the card regardless of which option I chose.
I turned the phone off and removed the SD card, replacing it with a 2 GB Samsung card. That one functions as expected.
Has anyone else seen this behavior, and is there anything to be done to fix it, or should I just contact Lenovo?
Thanks!
Try using another phone with this SD Card. If it works then your phone is having incompatibility with the card. Didn't work? Your SD Card data has probably got corrupted. If you can plug it on computer with an adapter check if it shows RAW in disk management. If it does try formatting with windows usual format procedure. If that shows an error your last resort would be using diskpart. use list disk, then select the disk which is your sd card, then type clean, then create partition primary, then format. That didn't work too? Then it's a hardware issue and what you got there is part of e-waste now.
