Gmail Exchange / Microsoft Exchange Activesync - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

What a great device, but I really miss the Microsoft Exchange Activesync account type.
I tried to setup via the new Google Exchance account type, and I can see my exchange mail just fine i Gmail. But I dont care for reading my professional life emails in gmail, so it would have been great if OnePlus had included an email app.
Anyway, I can see my calendar items in Google Calender just fine, both my gmail and exchange calendar item. So far so good.
Contacts however is a different matter. Gmail and Exhance contacts are cluttered all together in the dial (contracts), is there a way to exclude my gmail contacts so I only see Exchange contacts?. I can't seem to find any way to do that on the oneplus 3.
Also, not all my exchange contacts are there, so although sync is greenlighted the sync is not complete. Anybody else experience and fix that?

You could use this for exchange sync. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.office.outlook
Sendt fra min OnePlus 3

Try the app "Mail Wise" or "Nine"...my favorite is Nine!

Thanks, I tried it but I like using the google calendar, so although it looks good mailwise I am looking elsewhere.

Will try both..probably end up with Nine also since it has be best rep.

Well, 3rd time I set up exchange it looks like I now have working email, calendar and all my contacts.
Now I just need to find a good stand alone email app for my exchange email and then disable notifications of such emails from the gmail app.
Hmm, .they sure didn't make it easy.

I started usibg to one plus 3 recently. Phone is very good but badly miss the smoofh integration of microsoft exchange and contacts in my old Samsung phone in active syn mode. . Wish one plus 3 brings its own email app like what we see in i phone or samsung.

I personally use an outlook and Gmail address. I use Nine for my email app and just forward my Gmail to my outlook address. Could always create a secondary outlook adress as well just to handle the Gmail address.

application to setup hotmail as push mail

i successfully set up my hotmail in my X1, set the sync frequency to As Items Arrive, intending to activate push mail.
but now everytime i have new mail, i am not notified at all, not even showing of the numbers of new mails in the Today Screen.
i still need to manually go Menu > Send/Receive to update my mailbox.
any1 got solution or what application i need install?
thanks
yes: GMAIL lol
This would be a workaround, but it would work.
1. Create a Gmail account.
2. Forward your Hotmail to Gmail.
3. Set up your Gmail so that you can reply using your Hotmail account. (yeah you can do that...nifty eh?)
4. Go to your Outlook on your phone and set up "gmail-sync" as your push mail account to retrieve from. It's in beta right now but is working 100% perfectly on my Kaiser. (I'm in here because I'm getting a SEX1 in a couple days ) I frickin' LOVE IT - it pushes IMMEDIATELY as soon as the mail comes in. Instructions here:
http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=winmo
5. Now all your e-mails will be stored to your phone permanently too, instead of the inbox getting wiped every time you send receive, or whenever you have your timing set up for that.
6. Forget about Hotmail and start using Gmail lol. Just kidding...but if you set it up that way, you can still use your Hotmail completely, Gmail will be practically invisible to you. (Or is it the other way around? lol)
Seriously, Google's free push e-mail service is amaaazing. I am LOVING it.
ohhh pls tell me how to fwd mails
in aol /hotmail pls
Syncing frequency to As Items Arrive works perfectly for me.
I confirm that both hotmail and gmail works as a push mail on my XPERIA.
For hotmail, you can just use windows live connection setup and choose/set "as items arrive" and set the time as "always". For gmail, you can use the activesync feature on outlook mobile as have been told by deezy7 above.
Or else, you can use the feature from Emoze service.
hi all.
thanks for ur advices.
i did add my hotmail using the Windows Live program, did set to "as items arrive" and did set for "always"
but nothing ever appear in my pjone for new mail unless i do it manually using "send/receive"
i prefer to use my hotmail acc ley.
any1 pls help mi.
thanks

If you would like to have a free account for push mail service you should try Emoze. I have been playing with Emoze and honestly it helps me much to get my XPERIA have numerous mail account which works as a push mail ....
Ok, I did some workaround, created another gmail account and forwarded all my accounts to that one, and I receiving only that one.
Maybe not the best solution , but I prefer not to use online services like mobipush and such where u leave them your user name and password for each account u have...
As an alternative to Emoze i use Seven Beta. It provides near realtime push on most types of account.

Hey icbicb, in response to your other question as well, my suggestion would have been to do what you already did, which is create another gmail acccount I also prefer not to use any other online services, and was very happy when Google came out with Gmail Sync, since I've already been using my gmail account for five years, and don't have to give out sensitive information to yet another company
To those here using other services, I'd suggest you give Gmail Sync a try. Deedee, I noticed you said that Seven Beta provides you with near realtime push. I've noticed with Gmail Sync, and having my Gmail open at the same time on my pc at work, that Gmail Sync pushes in actual realtime! I'll hear the notification on my phone first before my page refreshes to show me my new e-mail! Also, I should mention that I am using gmail plug-ins to autoupdate the screen when new e-mails come in, and the Gmail sync sends them to my phone simultaneously or even before my page refreshes, thus, I know that it is actual real-time. Just like blackberry's service! I'm in love with it right now
icbicb, I'm glad it's working out for you , loyjwe I hope you are able to give this a try...
it's a good solution, but if i transfert the mail from hotmail to gmail they will be of the hotmail box...
And it's a probleme for me...
do you have a solution for that
(excus me for my bad english)
Big advantage of Seven Beta is that it works for almost all POP3/IMAP email systems and it keeps all the accounts separate so that replies from your PPC keep the correct return address.
I have it working on Gmail x 2, Hotmail and a POP3 account and all four accounts are independant of each other.
I said near real time sync as i didn't want to claim real time in case it wasn't. I rarely use the web interface since starting Seven so haven't been in a position to check. As i tell the BB users at work if you have time to compare the two delivery times then maybe you don't need a BB.

Hi titeloo...bad english is okay lol, but, I don't really understand what you mean by "they will be of the hotmail box..." need further explanation!!
@Deedee, gmail does that also....so... for example, when you get mail forwarded to your gmail account, if it was originally sent to your hotmail account, when you reply on the phone, it will reply from the hotmail account. Gmail's set up pretty good that way. I believe right now though they have a limit on the number of accounts you can send mail from, not sure if it is 3 or 4. So it's pretty neat that Seven Beta keeps all accounts separate ...btw very nice avatar
Seven is only restricted by the number of accounts that can be set up in WM, think it's 8 in total, that includes your ActiveSync/Exchange and SMS accounts.
Thanks for the compliment. Always prefer to use real piccies for avatars where practical.

Any Web Service to Sync My Wife's Calendar to My Device?

OK, here's the deal. My wife won't get a smartphone. And she refuses to use Outlook or similar desktop mail/calendar. She has her one Yahoo email address and is happy with it. Period. She keeps dates on a calendar in the kitchen.
I sync OTA with exchange through my office for all work related appointments. I then cable sync at home to add my personal calendar items. Is there an online calendar through Yahoo, Google or similar that is simple for my wife to use and would allow me to sync my wife's calendar to my phone as well?

Google Calendar would probably be your best option to bridge this gap for you
It's crazy simple for her to use (and for you to setup for her), and has quite a few sync options, including windows mobile...info on how that would work on your end are HERE.
Thanks for the Google info and especially the link. It's cool to see how people on xda go the extra mile to help each other. After reading your Google link I think I have realized that the limitation may be with Active Sync. It looks as if under the 'Configure Server' settings in ActiveSync there is only the optioj to configure one push account. Since I am hooked into my exchange server at work I don't see a way to also add the Gmail server settings as well.

That is correct (as far as I know), you can't setup GCal and Outlook to both sync to your phone's calendar separately.
However, what I was thinking of (and didn't do a good job of pointing you to...) is that you can setup GCal to sync to your outlook calendar on the desktop side, then when you sync to your outlook, whatever your wife has added to her calendar will be there as well.
Step-by-step HERE. Basically, you'd sync her google calendar to your desktop outlook at work, which would then update that on the exchange server. Whenever you synced with that, locally or remotely, you should get the stuff from her calendar as well. You can setup the GCal-outlook sync to be one-way only, so she doesn't get all your work stuff added to her own calendar.
Let me know if that would work for you...I don't really know of any other options for a simple calendar for her to be ok with, that will get her appts onto your phone...other than maybe just using opera to view the web version of her calendar..??
You can sync multiple accounts, multiple calendars to each account, etc, each winding up in their own individual category with ActiveGCSync.
It uses Google's API directly, so no activesync etc.. It can sync calendar and contacts, but honestly syncing contacts takes forever. Syncing the calendar could take 1-2 minutes depending upon how much change there is, but IMO not too big a deal for the flexibility.
I demand having each calendar in its own category so it shows in different colors and PhoneAlarm acts differently on it.. Am In in a work meeting? PhoneAlarm lowers all volume. Personal event's show up in a different color, etc..

Synchronizing

Hello
Tomorrow i'm getting my HTC desire.
I actually want to know what are good programs to synchronize.
I only need an agenda and my hotmail.
Any idea's?
Thanks
It is very good, coming from WinMo, it is really awesome.
I added my Gmail (Calendar, Email, Contacts), and Facebook, plus it syncs weather, stocks etc. with the click of a button
Yea I know but you can't use your hotmail account in Gmail right?
Or am I wrong?
you can set up your gmail to receive your hotmail, create a gmail account then go to settings>accounts, itll receive your hotmail but gets it about 15 minutes later.
Or, you can go onto the normal mail account on the desire which is very good, insert your email address and password and itll configure everything, you can set it how often to check for new emails. Takes 2 seconds
aah sorry, Steve is right. I find it easier to have them all linked through my gmail personally.

OK Steve but can I still check my mail on my normal pc?

It depends how you set it up for which account they go to, but yes you will.
And yes there is an agenda view, its pretty cool cause you get a widget as well as the view in the actual calendar app.
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
you can use either method for your email, i use gmail to read my personal hotmail account because i prefer the web version. You can log onto the standard hotmail or your gmail account and view the emails, so thats down to preference.
For the agenda, i find google calendar to be the best, however, if you are using outlook, you can download google sync, (just search it), it will upload all your calendar details to google calendar and keep it in sync, that way, you have the best calendar application on your android phone, and it will work with your sense agenda widgets.
hope all that makes sense, its all seemless once set up
Finally got my Desire..
It's a really nice phone..
I don't use outlook, just go to hotmail.com and check my mails..
I just used the normal mail account on the Desire and it works great but now I still need an agenda. When I try to use HTC Synch it always says that I need to use Outlook..
Is that correct or are there other sollutions?
What is the best agenda, the 1 of HTC or the 1 of Android?

Now that hotmail has released exchange activesync support, im lookin for the best exchange email app, im currently using the stock android email app. Bit dissappointed that there is no unread counter widget for the this similar to sms.

Have a look at K-9 mail, it does support exchange. You might also want to take a look at Pure Messenger widget also.
i am also using k-9 since it has imap idle (push mail)
TouchDown - best app for exchange
K-9 didn't worked with my work exchange
Unfortunately, K-9 doesn’t currently work with Hotmail Exchange active sync.
I agree with the op, anyone know of a good email application for Android?
Ideally this is what I would like out of the mail application.
1. To support Hotmail Exchange Active Sync
2. To Support Multiple Exchange accounts including G-Mail
3. To support push email over certain times
4. To allow synchronising of all emails not just one moth
5. To allow the ability to move emails to different folders
6. To be able to create, delete and rename folders
7. To be able to view HTML emails properly
8. To be able to download attachments
9. To have a home page widget that counts unread emails
Hope some bright spark reads this and can either point us in the right direction or create an app that does this.

What do you use, Gmail or HTC Mail?

Well, what do you use?
I use HTC Mail simple because of the home screen widget(hey, its a reason at least) even for my Gmail account(Note, my only account). I have set it as an Exchange mail "As mail arrives(Push)". Hopefully it'll be light at my battery(Theoretically it should, since it won't be repeatedly checking for mails).
What about you?
Somehow I always get 2 notifications (one gmail and one from the htc widget) eventhough I only want the htc one
I use HTC Mail because I think it's much better... especially since I have my hotmail & yahoo mail accounts configured in HTC mail... Another thing I like with HTC mail is that I can go back and read mails offline when I'm not connected to wifi since I don't have an unlimited data plan atm.
Some other things that makes HTC mail better is pinch to zoom, choose between regular or threaded email and much better handling copy / paste / stuff, even though it's implemented in gmail now it's nowhere as good as in HTC mail where selecting text works like a dream.
I use HTC Mail. I like the fact that I can read emails offline. Gmail used to have issues with opening attachments when it was on Eclair but the latest OTA seems to have addressed this issue.
Gmail app for me lol couldn't get on with HTCs mail app
really depends if you prefer pushmail or imap with scheduled retrieve...
I use gmail app as i use gmail as email provider. (but google really does need to stop ****ing around with attachment access, it's kinda ridiculous...)
i use k-9 to have push mail for all accounts.

Then try to open an attachment twice its not possible via googlemail+exchange+htcmail... I hate that but its sadly true...
I use HTC Mail for my gmail account using exchange active sync and push, also pretty much just because of the widget. I have noticed that bug with attachments but it doesn't really affect me much.

Maybe yes, also ProfiMail seems to be very popular under the "Pro-Users". But i wonder if there will ever be a MailClient with proper GMail/Exchange support AND a usable UI that doesnt look like Windows CE...
Htc mail app. There is widget and push that is all in need.... Somehow attachments are fine for me now could this be latest update?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Yahoo mail for android, only for yahoo obviously but messages are pushed instantly & when i delete mail its actually deleted, i found with htc mail it would only delete it from my phone, when i signed in online mail was still there.
Sent from my HTC Desire runing Android 2.2 via the XDA App
I had problems with HTC mail, and it used to send 2 mails everytime I send one.
So switched to Gmail app and Yahoo mail for Android app as they both push the mails. Also any deleted mails will be synchronised and removed from the actual accounts.
---------------------------------------------
HTC Desire still on 2.1
I have disabled Gmail because HTC mail can integrate any mail accounts I use. These include, but aren't limited to Gmail, Exchange and my service provider's primary mail account.
I used to have the Gmail App active as well, but I got really annoyed by the notifications that would pop up two times for my Gmail account. Last but not least I simply like HTC's interface choices, they fit much better into the big picture.

Doesn't both got push mail? The HTC Mail does and when I used Gmail it behaved as if it had push mail(Which I believe it does).
Ive been using Both together. Gmail for my personal account and HTC Mail to manage my Exchange Server account for work. Both push and I only get individual notifications, each with their own icon. It works perfectly so I am a bit confused as to what may be causing others issues.
Gmail app for Gmail and HTC Mail for the MS Exchange server. I like the labels support in the Google app but the HTC app is much prettier and more fun to use.
The Gmail interface is very efficient for dealing with lots of email. Faster than the webpage on a desktop, dare I say
