G4 Stuck in Encryption mode. - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I bought a refurbished LG G4 and I set it up and used it for one day and it was great. But I went into the about section and noticed that it wasn't running Android 6.0 yet so I connected it to LG bridge and updated it through the program. Next thing I know after it finished updating it booted into encryption mode asking for a password. I try enter something and it goes to 29 attempts out of 30 if I try it again it just stays there and doesn't change or or go below 29 it has now randomly changed into Chinese too.
I contacted the company I bought it off and explained it to them and said there should have been an explanation in my package. But there wasn't.
It's not allowing me to boot into recovery and I have no idea what to do.
I used this phone for one day and spent a lot of money on this phone and I have no idea what I can do to fix this situation.

not sure if flashing stock firmware will help... now the question is what version of android has right now.?
you can try the back to stock guide... not sure if it will erase everything .. but if you going to downgrade lets say you took the last update antiroll back 3 you can only downgrade to a firmware that its the same antiroll back version.. the last update from my variant its v3.. so ask first... then download firmware flash an d hope its wipes all and start from scrath..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848

It says on the website that it's running Android 5.1.
I tried the KDZ method last night and I would get and error when the upgrage was at 9%.
It's a refurbished phone, if that makes all the difference?

[Q] LG G3: Problem upgrading to 10L

Last week, LG G3 notified me of software upgrade, I was running 10i at that time. So I went ahead and upgraded. I was expecting to get 10L but somehow it upgraded from 10i to 10J. So now I am running V10J-SEA-XX. I am not able to get OTA update as it shows that I am running the latest version which is not true. It shows last update on 24th Oct 2014. I am in India, phone was purchased from Dubai.
In hope to get 10L, I installed the LG Mobile Software Tool and to my pleasant surprise, it showed me an upgrade. I started the upgrade process, it download 1136.13MBytes of upgrade and started upgrading my phone. It failed in first attempt and it prompted me to remove battery, restart and press retry button which I did.
On Second attempt, everything went smooth, phone was rebooted in the firmware download mode, I could see 0-100% progress and the entire upgrade completed as expected.
However, when phone was restarted, I see that I am still on the same software, V10J-SEA-XX. It even shows last update on 24th Oct 2014 ( OTA date). I restarted LG Mobile Software Tool and it again shown the update available. When I choose to upgarde, it again downloaded the same 1136.13MBytes file. This time upgrade process completed in first time itself. Unfortunately, I am still on the same version.
Any help will be appreciated.
I read on the thread somewhere exactly same issue as yours and someone suggested that u should change your port to 41...
Doa bit of research and u will find the solution !

Well, I saw a few threads, not sure the one you suggested but that solution is possibly applicable if the device was not recognized. Here I could see the progress on both LG tool and mobile so both are communicating fine. Pls correct me if I am wrong.
Anyway, changed the port to COM41 and trying again.
Update: Repeated the entire procedure with COM41. This solution doesn't work. I am still on the same V10J-SEA-XX.
.
Bump...can anyone help?
Thanks
Same Problem
Hi there sorry I can't help but I have the same problem.
Live in the UK but purchased an SEA version. Didn't realise it would cause me such an issue.
Unfortunately, I don't want to root my phone as it will possibly disable my Barclays Bank Mobile Banking app which is pretty useful to me.
My only hope is that LG will upgrade the SEA version to L when it does all the other regions as well.

I am fine with rooting if that solves an issue. Any lead?
I just received an OTA update but it only updated to v10K, strangely no v10L yet.

Someone asked lg uae this question and what they have said is that the v10j or which ever one youve got for the region of ur phone is the same as the other regions' v10L or v10n and it isnt more advanced than ur version of v10...

LG G3 Endless Bootloop Logo->Firmware Update->Restart

Hey guys,
I really hope someone will be able to help me out.
I will try and provide as much information as possible.
I own an D855 bought from Germany. The phone originally came with the stock rom 4.4 I believe. I had rooted the phone using purple drake. few days ago I update the phone to 5.0 Lollipop, the official version rolled out by LG.
I lost the root after update and didn't re-root. Today during work my phone had gone into a boot loop (Logo->restart->logo-Restart). I though "okay that's fine , when I get home I'll look into the unbrick methods and fix this easily" Wrong.
I tried using the instructions provided by the user zedomax on youtu "How to Unroot/Unbrick LG G3!"
Downloaded all the drivers and the LG g3 Flash tool. Also downloaded a European stock rom. I got to around the 6:35 mark on the video, removed the cable and replugged it. Then the phone just shutdown and started a boot loop again. The boot loop had now changed to Logo->Firmware update page->restart->logo->firmware update page->restart.
Now I can't put the phone into firmware update mode anymore and I am really scared the phone is hard bricked. What is the next thing I can try?
I am offering a 60€ bounty to whoever has a fix for this.
I can also try taking a video of the boot loop if that would be of any help.
If I would try and RMA the phone, does anyone know would there be any sign of rooting. I had previously had the phone rooted on the official 4.4 build (using purple drake) and then I updated to 5.0, but didn't root.

[Q] Downgrading to KK ROM - Three UK

Hi,
First time poster, long time trawler... thanks for all your info over the years.
I have a specific question about downgrading to KK from L on my branded Three Mobile UK.
I had rooted on KK and was loving it, everything was working great.
Three kept pushing the OTA at me, but because of root it wouldn't take.
Borrowed a PC (I run mac for work) to run LG Suite and (back up first) fix upgrade errors to unroot to take OTA.
For some reason it bricked it...it just sat on Firmware update at 0% forEVER. Wouldn't boot past it or recognise the device anymore.
Had to use the Mobile Support tool to bring it back to life... although this resulted in an upgrade to 5 anyway.
I'm really not a fan of L. Won't go into details as to why it sucks, but I want to go back to KK and root, and then wait for L to get root options.
I've never flashed a ROM before, however there's a ton of resources here so I will give it a go.
I want to go back to the exact same ROM that came with the device which I THINK I have tracked down to - D85510g_00 via
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53606494
and
http://www.mylgphones.com/lg-g3-firmware-checking-the-software-version-and-update-history
Can anyone confirm that would be the right one... Is there any reason why I shouldn't use this ROM?
I want to go with what works, and not risk bricking it by installing an unbranded ROM in case they've used some sort of security measure that I'm unaware of... or am I just being a noob?
TL : DR
ON Lpop, want KK back... downgrade to D85510g_00.kdz for 3 UK (Hutchinson) branded ROM - Correct?

Thanks for your reply. Will borrow a PC again and give it a whirl tonight.
I have the KDZ file, USB drivers and LG Flash tool already downloaded... and intend on following this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
I have seen in the second method mentioned in that guide - TOTs and DLLs, could you confirm that these are different paths to the same goal? Either I need KDZ or I need TOT & DLL... but I don't need KDZ and TOT and DLL? Have I understood that correctly?

Downgrading K428 (T-Mobile) to Root it

There is good information on this forum on how to root your k428 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/development/root-twrp-rom-t-mobile-k428-k10-t3582493)
This however, is not possible on anything later than the 10f(?) firmware, due to there being a December 15, 2016 security update.
Firmwares I am pulling from: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-k428sg-firmwares/
My K10 is on the most recent update 20h(?), the only thing I've done is unlock the bootloader. I'm trying to get it down to an earlier firmware version to be able to root. I have tried:
Uppercut with LGUP:
There are two separate errors I get with this. One is when I select refurbish and it gets to about 4% (On LGUP, not the phone) and it says my ".kdz does not allow refurbishing" or something along those lines.
I have tried update as well, and I get an error at 14%(on LGUP, 10% on device) and I get "invalid command response code" (image attached)
I have tried both of these options with 3 different .kdz files, so the problems aren't just unique to one file.
LG Flash Tool 2014:
When I start there is an error saying no connection to the server and no progress indicated on the phone or computer, even after maybe 1/2 hour.
After LGUP, I do have to bring my phone back with LG Bridge Update Error Recovery, but interestingly no data is lost at all so clearly my phone is not being wiped at all.
How have people successfully downgraded their k428 and how do I?
Also, is the k428 the same as the k428sg? I can't seem to figure this out and the firmwares website has slightly different specs.
I have another phone, just really hoping to switch to this one is it seems quicker, isn't running Touchwiz, has a decent camera, more storage... I won't be switching if I can't get this rooted because I have been spoiled by rooted devices.

Having very similar issues, at the moment stuck in a "Firmware update" loop with a T-Mobile K10 K428, after trying to downgrade from 7.0 to 6.0.1.
How are you reverting it to useable form with the LG Bridge app?
It only tells me I have the latest update then goes away.
[nevermind, this part worked]
Managed to bring the device back to functional 7.0 state, but have found no way to downgrade back to 6.0.1.. the regret I feel for allowing the update to happen before rooting the device is indescribable in frikkin words.
Hopefully someone somewhere is working on the root of this computer in Android 7.0, I have 3 of these and I need to do the root to unlock them
last Friday I could downgrade a version 10R to 10G and rooted .
but since yesterday I'm with another to downgrade but am getting error while modem part flashing .
version was 20H , I noticed once upon 20 no possible to back In 10 .

The correct way to update an AT&T model

So I've just recovered my phone from my 1st attempt at updating to Pie on my unlocked AT&T v35.
But I'm left wondering if the process for updating from Oreo to Pie is somehow different than when I successfully updated from Marshmallow to Oreo.
The process I thought was:
1. Put phone in download mode
2. Connect phone to pc
3. Run the Modified version of LGUP
4. Select your ULM KDZ choice (any of the three will do)
5. Select Upgrade
6. Flash phone
Are any of these steps incorrect and should step 5 be Refurbish instead of Upgrade?

I used upgrade, when going from ULM 8.0 to ULM 9.0. I would assume you would use refurbish if going from stock to another firmware. Of course assumptions aren't really reliable.
I've been trying to figure out if I should do UPGRADE or REFURBISH as well.
I found this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/guide-how-to-upgrade-downgrade-restore-t3738917
Says REFURBISH wipes user data, UPGRADE does not. If moving from one image say from AT&T, to the Unlocked firmware I'd assume you want REFURBISH.
So since I used refurbish to go to the ulm software from 7 to 8, do I still need to refurbish going to any of the ulm pie variants?

That's what threw me for a loop on my first attempt. Since I'd successfully upgrade from the AT&T 7.0 firmware to I believe the Amazon 8.0 ULM firmware without issues, I thought the process would be the same going to 9.0. But I ran the upgrade through LGUP which was the modified version, and it crashed at 74% and sent me down a wonderful rabbits hole of brickage.

I don't understand how were you on Marshmallow before flashing to Oreo. I'm pretty sure the the V35 launched on Oreo 8.0. But I'm also looking for a way to get from Oreo to Pie on ULM kdz.
I went from AWM12k to ULM10i choosing REFURB and all went well (I followed xatokk's post on the lgV35 subreddit).
When I try to get from ULM10i to ULM20d (Pie .kdz) I guess I only have to drag ULM20d kdz in LGUP window?
I just want to make sure that's not how you bricked your phone before I try REFURB from ULM10i to ULM20d
Any advice would help, I'm a noob at this.
FWIW, partition DL worked fine going first from AT&T firmware to Oreo ULM and then again to Pie. Sadly I had to set up the phone again.

Sorry, Brainfart, I was completely out to lunch on that. I wanted to flash the latest available security update, but since I'm in Canada I could never get that from AT&T so I had to find a way to flash it and that led me to XDA and the whole LGUP process. So you were correct on that, and I did flash the Amazon 8.0 KDZ I believe without issue.
My brick happened when using the Amazon pie KDZ and using the same Upgrade process in LGUP. The update got to 74% and then crashed. I then tried to run the refurbish option but that crashed as well so by that time, my phone was beyond my knowledge of how to fix it

Partition DL was not available in the process list of the modded version of LGUP I used. Which one did you use? I think I found the right one.
Now, selecting PARTITION DL, do I need to select all like mentioned in the Frankenstein Phone thread for the V30?

This phone launched with Oreo and had nothing prior. He's mistaken, confusing some other model.
That's what I did.
The error you experience may be due to a usb cable. a particular usb port on your computer, other software on your computer, and maybe bios settings. The v30 WTF and Frankenphone forums would be good places for background and solutions.
Fingers crossed for a successful flash.

Here's what I did if you don't already found a way. I also faced an error trying to flash to Pie ULM.kdz.
I don't know why but LGUP for developer patched from 9to5lg.com didn't work for me. I tried PARTITION DL it crashed at 91% and I also had to reboot my PC. I kept the phone plugged and reinstalled LGUP.
My V35 was on AWM12k when I got it. I followed xatokk's post on the lgV35 subreddit to get it to to ULM10i choosing REFURB.
I kept the same .dll I extracted from to ULM10i and I did a REFURB to ULM20d .kdz just dragging it to LGUP.
I hope this can help you.
To update my earlier reply on this topic. Somehow flashing REFURBISH from AT&T stock Oreo to ULM(Unlocked) Pie it failed and bricked my phone. As mentioned in another thread regarding unlocking the bootloader and root, I had to call on @motogvasyag to not only unbrick my phone remotely but he also unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. If anyone has any issues with bricking you might want to contact him. He's fast and does amazing work. I only mention this because I am very appreciative of him and his work. I'm not sure why my flashing failed at around 70 something percent but I'm glad to have my phone working again along with the update to pie and root.
