[Mod][6.x/7.x] Xthermal Mod -Fast Charging + Some CPU/GPU Tweaks - Nexus 6P Original Android Development

Hi Guys,
I'm back with the Xthermal Mod.
But this time it is for Nexus 6P.
Introduction:
Nexus 6P is the best handset I've ever used. No doubts about that.
Nexus 6P has got one of the best Fast Charging.
But why I always get around 800-1100 mA current while charging?
Max to max I get 1500-1700 mA current.
Is this the best fast charging I can get?
Then I opened my thermal engine file and started working on it.
Goal:
Xthermal_Fast_Charge: Here I tried to boost my charging current/speed while keeping rest values to their default.
Xthermal_Performance: Here I tried to boost my charging current/speed + Same basic CPU & GPU tweaks are also applied.
I have successfully been able to achieve average 2600-2800 mA current. (Stock charger supports Max 3000 mA)
Tested with roms based on "N" aka Android 7.x.

How to apply:
Just flash the zip using twrp and see the difference using Ampere app...

Note to mods: Please kick it to related section if I missed it.

Screen Shots of Ampere app after applying the Xthermal Mod.
I have changed the initial values only.
So don't worry it won't harm your device at all.
The critical high temp. values are still the same.

curiious to see others results. so this is just to increase the fast charge time? what kind of a difference are you seeing versus stock?

In normal usage I get around 1500-1700 mA current only.
After applying the mod it goes upto max i.e. 2800-2900 mA.
Actually the stock temperature values to control/limit your fast charging are too low.
So we can't make use of Fast charging in date to day works.

Which one should i flash?
Performance or normal one?
Also just flash and that's it?
Cheers

Will flashing this tweaks damage phone in a long run, but it looks pretty good. I may flash it later today.

Will performance effect battery life?

Most of the time I use a slow old usb adapter, is it OK to flash this?

It should be fine as the charging adapter handles current amps going through the cable. This allows our Fast Charger to be taken to it's fullest ability

Both are good.
Charging while handset is off will make sure less heat and more faster charging... But you will miss your calls and sms...
Charging while power on is also good ...
I have tried to make sure you get max faster charging with your daily moderate usage...

[MOD][18-02]New configuration of stock JB KERNEL for less power usage

NEW CONFIGURATION
OF STOCK JB KERNEL
Hi guyz, since i don't like the default parameters of stock JB kernel,
i'm trying to use my own one witch i could have little less power usage
with hight tasks like web browsing or gaming.
Click to collapse
HOW IT WORKS?
Simply, it decrease the cpu ramping up to maxfreq to preserve
a lower voltages of the SoC, it means, less power usage.
In fact, MilliAmpere used are less.
HOW TO FLASH?
REALLY?!? :silly:
Flash it as a normal ROM.
####################
You could have issues
Enjoy and, if you like, rate 5 stars
and sure, FEEDBACKS me!!
It's an order!
It should works with all SENSE JB roms.
P.S. 5 mins of usage isn't a test,
2 days from a complete charge to a complete
discharge are that, and sure, WITH THE SAME USAGE!!

FAQ
- What about this MOD?
It's a script witch changes Ondemand's parameters
- Could damage my phone?
ABSOLUTELY NO! why? because it's only a script witch write some numbers, after a reboot, numbers comes to stock setting if MOD will be removed
- Is it invasive for my rom?
ABSOLUTELY NO! it doesen't change anything in system files, only write some numbers in governor's parameters, those returns at stock value after 1 reboot (if you delete the mod)
- Should i have little lags?
Yes, you could, because this setting decrease the ramp up of the cpu, it means, less frequency = less power usage.. but.. means less performance too!
- Is it a mod for hardcore gaming?
No, i create that only for normal dalily use + web browsing, you should have little lags!
- I have some issues after installing this mod, what about it?
Since this only changes some values, the ONLY thing you could have is a lagghing phone, other issues are rom fault (or maybe your fauilt)
- I have choppy youtube videos, what could i do?
Nothing, don't know why but, probably, youtube needs 1.5ghz of core, and, this mod decrease the ammount of time spent at that frequency. It's an nvidia hotplug error, it should turn on 4 core at low freq, but, it doesn't do, so, for now, don't know what we could do to fix it! Need the source code of kernel!
- I don't like your mod, how to remove?
Flash the remove zip file and fuk off! (ahahahahaha )
WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADD MY MOD IN YOUR OWN ROM?
For me, it's ok, but, my opinion, some users has issues with gaming and youtube playback, so, if you FORCE ths mod to him, you could lose credibility!
This mod decrease the benchamrks results too! So, my advice is to ADD THIS THREAD LINK IN YOUR ROM'S THREAD WITCH YOU ADVICE TO TRY MY MOD!

You'll see the difference in a completely day, if you already uses the phone, you don't have a completely charge, and the % of battery is calculated and not real. What i would say?
Simply, decrease from 100 to 90 isn't the same as 20 to 10%!

this function has a similar effect, the different is i'm using another parameter
the difference is, with my mod, the most hight freq witch is used is 1.2, but 1.4 and 1.5 will used too, if those are real necessary
with normal battery saver force to max 1.3ghz
is quite different
Ok, now understand...thanks for answer

[Q] Best Kernel for N7100 ?

Hi guys,
I am owning Galaxy Note II international version.
currently I am on Stock kernel and now planning for installing custom kernel.
But I am little bit confuse about Kernel...
First of all I am new and I have no Idea about Kernels...
I need kernel for battery life , smooth and for performance purpose...
So suggest me the BEST kernel for my Note II
or should I stick on Stock ????
Is very difficult to judge which is the best. It seems a lot of note2 user using perseus kernel as it contain st tweaks and good battery performance.
By the way, myself always stick with stock kernel which has been highly recommended by the rom dev for stability purpose.

I've tried them all and keep coming back to Perseus.
I don't overclock or undervolt (although I used to with my S3) as in my mind the device is plenty fast enough anyway.
Perseus is rock solid for me and battery life is fantastic. Plus you get the option of fast USB Charging, Audio enhancements etc.
Another vote for Perseus kernel
2 vote for Stock Kernel
2 Vote for Perseus kernel
Now again confused
I'm a bit confused, why don't u try each kernel for 1 week or so?? Preference, usage and apps installed are different for everyone. It's ain't hard to change kernel. I was on xperia x10 and let me tell u, it's a pain to change as need to flash through computer. Now it's damn easy on note2.
Mod kernel is always better than stock or else no one would spend their time to come out with a better kernal. My vote goes to perseus kernal.
kernel
I'm using perseus with no problem.

Perseus works fine for me, battery life similar to stock. For performance, you can OC the CPU to 1.8Ghz and the GPU to 800Mhz. Also it can changes the charging current, tweak the audio and calibrate the screen, which is a plus for me.

Even if you set it to 1700mA, the phone cannot draw more power than the usb port (i.e. 500mA for a normal USB port). If you charge it via your computer, it is normal to take around 6, 7 hours. The charger for Note II is 2A, that's why it charges in less than 4 hours for me.

After root battery charges very slow

I've rooted my G. Note2 using the CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5, after got it rooted, the battery is charging very slowly even when decreased brightness, limited background processes to 4, tried different USB cables, closed any unnecessary running apps, but always it's still very slow in charging.
I'm using the original white AC adapter which delivers 1500 mA current, I found at xda-developers.com in some like threads that after rom flash a battery needs to be calibrated, I thought that's the issue.
I've tried to remove the batterystats.bin and rebooted then tried to charge while my phone is turned off, got over 8:30 hours to get it fully charged from 0 to 100%, i think this is a way to calibrate the battery, as well used an app to calibrate the battery after charging reached the 100% but it still taking long time to get charged 75 -81 in 41 minutes.
So i'm asking if you have any other suggestions/advices, this is gonna be greatly appreciated.
Download something like Galaxy Charging from the Play store and check what rate your phone is charging at. I flashed a custom rom and noticed that charging was extremely slow. Ended up flashing the red pill kernel which made a massive difference...

I'll try to install the Redpill kernel later today, and hopefully this gonna to fix the issue.
That's strange. Seems to suggest it's currently working fine although not sure why the maximum is so low (mine is also showing a lower maximum figure!).
Aye, try the kernel. Think it makes the phone treat any cable as just a power cable only so charge should theoretically be rapid.
Actually, just had a thought... Have you got another battery you could try charging? If the phone is receiving the correct level of charge maybe it's the battery that can't hold it properly.

Hey mate,
No comment or any suggestions ? really it's terrible
Max and Avg values of "Galaxy charging current" starts with at most 1500 then start dropping to like 700 - 500 ?
Any idea what can be the issue and if i can have any more diagnosis tips/tools ?
Don't tweak anything with software and just visit samsung store, ask for original cable (they may have one in working at least) and charge and calibre current with gcc application if it is 1800 with new cable then just purchase it. That's it. And most diagnostic.
I have observed more than 90% culprit is cable (note2 original cable is just crap)

Xthermal Mod - Fast Charging + CPU + GPU Tweaks

Original thread for Nexus 6P is located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...t/xthermal-mod-fast-charging-cpu-gpu-t3433784
Hi Guys,
After a very successful journey from Redmi 1s to Nexus 6P, I'm now here with my Xthermal Mod for Mi 5.
I'm personally testing the mod since a week and will be rolling out all the profiles soon.
Till then I need your help to test it out in different conditions.
Please join and help me to make it more better this time.
I'm attaching Fast Charge only profile as of now.
Edit: Xthermal Performance + Back to stock added...

1. Stock charger supports max 2000 mah.
2. Max Charging current is controlled by the Kernel itself.
As soon as battery level increases the charging current goes down.
You might have observed that if battery level is below 50% then charging is super fast but after 60% it is very slow.
If you (your apps) do not use the handset resources much while charging then you do not need this mod.
If you use your handset while charging (which is strongly not recommended) example for gaming, browsing or chatting etc then the temperature rises slowly slowly.
The stock limits are very aggressive and it starts throttling and your cpu, gpu and charging speeds goes down.
So this mod comes into play here and delays the throttling a bit resulting in better cpu, gpu and charging results.
Does it produces more heat?
Heat is directly related with performance. This mod itself doesn't produce any heat but yes delaying the throttling means the handset is able to use all your resources even if temps rises hence may result in a bit more heat + more performance.
The results are more amazing if you have a fast charger.
I believe there is no risk in flashing this but still don't blame me for all your actions.

Is there any requirements? Miui? Cm? Kernel?
Please upload the "back to stock" for mi 5. Thanks
I don't see "thermal-engine-8996.conf" file in my rom. Assume I can just delete the file (or re-install rom) to revert to default.
By the way, do you know what's default value for each before this mod? Hope this mod not increase the threshold too much. Worry it will boom.
I've read original thread, what I understand is our phone will charge faster but trade off with hotter while charging.

Just flashed it too. Phone seems much faster will see about charging and battery drainage but I prefer faster phone over battery always
Would you mind explaining technically what those mods do? e.g.: governor, upper and lower frequency limit, etc. Some of us like to know the geeky details

If the phone goes to sleep then charging ramps up to 1600-1900 mAh,if you use the phone while charging the rate hovers around 600-1000 mAh.

Find something like USB Tester. But first change your cable
I use this one https://www.ebay.ca/itm/LCD-USB-Det...m=291967968309&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 to measure. I don't have any charging issues on custom ROM's (been using Pixel Experience 8.1/9.0) and it charges the same as MIUI did. I use a Choetech cable, and have used 2 different QC 3.0 chargers. I charge at around 14w, which may be the max my cable supports. I have never used the original Xiaomi cable/charger.
I tried kangaroox kernel and it shows wayyy low mili ampers on aida64 battery section... And my phone also dosent heat up like when i used stock rom while charging... this also happens in pixle experience rom too.... Can you measure it too...??
