Genuine Galaxy tab S2 cover + bluetooth keyboard - scrambled key strokes - Galaxy Tab S2 Accessories

Hi,
I'm in love with the Samsung Tab S2 bluetooth keyboard and cover but some keys type wrong.
When I type ^shift 2^ to get an @ sign, it gives me " .
When I type ^shift '^ to get a ", it gives me an @ sign - the opposite of my request.
If I want a # ^shift3^ gives me a £ symbol.
I've returned it to 'ProGadgets' where i bought it and the replacement they sent me makes all the same mistakes!
Grrr very frustrating.
Can I do a factory reset or something?
Please help

It sounds like you just need to alter the keyboard or tablet language/layout/location, from US to UK, or UK to US.

Where did you buy it sounds like a region related issue

Does anyone have the updated phone/text modeule?

Hi folks,
My mate has just received the XDA IIi phone, which does seem so far resonably stable.
I've noticed that he has a new version of the phone/text module - so as he inputs a number it will try and guess the names of people with that number.
When texting there is also a function to put the screen into a keyboard mode where each large key is 3 chacracters e.g. 2 = abc etc...
Does anyone know if there is an update for the xda IIi module?
Cheers

How to connect mini bluetooh keyboard to Desire Froyo

This is for those who are having problems connecting Desire with a Bluetooth Keyboard, in my case a Chinese mini Bluetooth keyboard (model PA-BK03- $ 27.00).
Things you need:
1) Rooted Desire (in my case OpenDesire 1.3b)
2) 3 files (hidd, hcitool and hciconfig) from code google
3) Recovery console (unrevoked for example)
4) And a Bluetooth keyboard…
The basic principle is to copy these 3 files to /system/xbin and set the permissions to 755, and than, after you enable Bluetooth on the phone and on the device, run the follow command:
#hcitool scan
Scanning ...
DC:2C:26:B3:C6:46 Bluetooth Mini Keyboard
Than
# hidd --connect DC:2C:26:B3:C6:46 (use your own MAC Address)
After it, you mini keyboard will stop blinking the blue led….TADA….is done!
I just cook the blu_sign.zip that contains the 3 files…you can use your recovery console apply it. And I recommend to use gscript lite to write the “hidd --connect” command and shortcut it in your home screen.
All the credits goes to…. Erin at i-miss-erin blogspot
And please I’m not a developer just curious and I hope that some noble developer make an fancy apk better than this.

Would it be possible to pair a BT mouse this way, too?
Hi that's very interesting, will this method help with connecting other bluetooth devices? ps3 controller perhaps... or the wii one which apparently wont work with htc sense..
hup Holland hup
The ps3 controller isn't a hid device, but afaik a wii nunchuck is.
They did get ps3 controllers working on PC though , so it might be possible.
That keyboard looks nice btw. If it had one of them weird nipple things that old laptops used as a mouse I'd deffinately invest in one.
S60mike, I just connect my mighty mouse from apple and guess what...its working. Amazing for some games

Where can/must I enter 0000 as pairing-code? Isn't this required? Now I try my Apple BT Keyboard

Got a Nexus One here.
There is a major internal difference between the two and three battery keyboards, with many saying the three battery keyboard works better.
Well that's good news for me as I have the 3 battery! But not had any luck yet. Tried on a rooted rom but got device not found on hciconfig. So running stock again for now.
Does anyone know if Froyo will make it any easier and is it impossible to run hidd un-rooted?

[Q] [Desire Z] Special characters

Hi all !
I tried to look for a thread talking about that, but I didn't find some ...
I have a problem with my Desire Z, with the physical keyboard.
I need to write specials characters like the : < or the : > and others
But I don't have them on my physical keybord, even if I do the key : FN + Symb I have only few special characters ! where are all of special characters I have with my tactical keyboard ??????
If someone has few informations about that, that would be very helpfull !
Thanks for reading my poor english.
On the G2 i hold Alt and K to for like 2 secs and a small menu will pop up allowing me to do 3 additional characters one of them is >. For the desire z i am guessing my alt button is your FN button. Give that a try
Thanks for the answer.
I tried again to long press on all the keys of the physical keyboard. I have other specials characters with most of the keys but no < or > ....
And for the letter : K , I have only one other character : ?
I dont know why its a : ? ....?!

This works the same on the Desire Z
Hold FN & K for 2/3 seconds & a menu pops up with '>'
Hold FN & J for 2/3 seconds & a menu pops up with '<'
Doesn't work on the German version of the DZ...all I get when I press and hold FN-K is:
üüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüü
...because the German Umlauts sit on jkl. Hoping for an Update...
Maybe I have to say that I have french Desire Z.
I think it's a problem with the localisation of the language .... maybe, maybe not ...
I up the post !
nobody have informations about that ?
Desire Z HW keyboard problem
hi to all,
i have purchased htc desire z from O2 (CR) and also had a problem with HW keyboard, on the second row from the second or third key the special characters were shifted by one key....
O2 wanted to exchange the phone for a new one immediately, but a second phone we unpacked at the store had the same problem....
ive got my money back, and i have no new phone 8((
im so far hesitating to purchase the phone again elsewhere....
I have the german version of the desire z and for > and < you can press the FN key with the key label SYM and an magnifying glass on it
Weird, as my German Desire Z (stock Sense ROM) with German keyboard setting only allows these characters with the SYM button:
'...' ¥ · ® © ± [ ] { } \ |
Holding Fn + something else for two seconds doesn't work for any key.
Same problem.
I dont know if some dev can correct the problem, I think its software and not hardware.
I will try to call HTC to know more about this problem
EDIT :
I just called HTC center. After 30 minutes on the phone, they don't have a solution for me, their best solution was to use the virtual keyboard, I said it is not a solution for me, I bought a HTC Desire Z to always use a physical keyboard, and if some countries don't have this problem, why I have to stay with this problem without doing something. The guy on the phone told me he will send this problem higher and if he has informations he'll call me back.
Maybe people who have the same problem can call HTC to show to HTC that it's a permanent bug, permanent missing option and we need this option back. (I need in fact, but I think I'm not the only one who need the < and > when I use my physical keyboard)
I'll give new informations as soon as I have news
Thx again for reading my f****** poor english

Yes without doing something it's only possible with virtual keyboard.
But if they do something, they can "fix" that by including < and > in the FN+Symb combo popup.
It's easy to say something like that. But for a customer like me, I can't let them saying that. Why because I'm using a Azerty Desire I dont have these characters and why US people have them correctly with their physical keyboard, in fact there is no problem for US keyboard, only for French keyboard (and I guees German too).
It's not my problem, it's their problem, and I hope they will fix it.
Saying to use the virtual keyboard is a funny joke, when we know that the Desire Z has a physical keyboard ! People you buy this smartphone does it because they don't want to use the virtual keyboard ....
These kinds of answers make me crazy so sorry because its totally stupid and think people are stupid, I AM NOT !
I agree with you. Yes, it is normal to expect that you will be able to input the same characters on the HW keyboard.
I do not understand why they left them out.
Especially weird seems leaving out different characters on different layouts while barely/not using the symbol key and pretty much omitting Shift-Fn-.. combinations...

Does anyone know if at all possible to swap the Z and Y symbols on a QWERTZ hard kb on an Austrian Dezire Z?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Work-around (lame but nonetheless)
Hey all,
I ended up here yesterday, also looking for a way to input the "less than" or "greater than" symbols (<, >) on my Desire Z using the physical keyboard.
I don't have a solution, but I have found a workaround that is acceptable to me (until somebody finds out how to add symbols to the SYM list ).
Just enter the symbols as "quick text". Then, you can press then MENU button on your keyboard while typing, press "quick text" on your screen, and then select the symbol you want.
It's a good idea to delete the default quick text messages (unless you actually use them ), so that you won't have to scroll to select your symbols of choice.
I know it's far from perfect, but better than the only other way to get to these symbols. At least for me (Desire Z bought in the Netherlands), I would have to:
1) close phone
2) tap text area to activate onscreen keyboard
3) tap '12#' button
4) tap '1/2' button
5) tap symbol (e.g. '<' or '>')
6) open phone again and continue typing
I also know this is a pretty obvious "workaround", but I thought that the possibility that it might provide some relief to somebody somewhere made it worthwhile typing it out
For the rest, but the way, it's seriously an amazing phone (and OS)! My previous phone was a Touch Pro, with Windows Mobile 6.5 I think (or 6? Don't even remember - and never got around to flashing it, sad as that may be ), and this is amazing. I'm not so much of an Apple person, but I can now for the first time understand what they experienced when they played around with an iPhone or Apple for the first time. The gap in functionality and userfriendliness is mind-boggling.
So, bar the fact that it's not so easy to type "<3" anymore, great phone
< and > characters have been added to the SYM list in the OTA 1.72 version I know this version has been pulled out by HTC but I'm sure the SYM list will also be updated in the next OTA.
But I still can't find the degree symbol. Am I missing something?
Sent from my Vision using XDA App
What still is totally missing is the clause symbol (§). I did not find any way to type this (neither hard- nor softkeyboard). I really hate it, as I need it regularly.
The '<' and '>' characters are available through the C and V chars.
@Becksman: I found § in the 'S' menu.
(Although I'm not sure for the Sense ROM, I'm on Cyanogen 7)

Apple Keyboard + Galaxy Tab 10.1 P7500

Hi guys, I hope to found a solution around here.
I've searched all over the internet and most of people agreed that the Apple Wireless Keyboard is one of the best to use with the GTab 10.1 and following this I bought one for me.
The problem is that nothing works, I got them paired and ready, but just here and there I can type on it without any hassle and when I can type, I cannot use the function keys, just literally typing. I thought the problem was the keyboard, but ran a test pairing it with my PC, laptop and even my iPhone and it worked flawlessly.
So, I've been wondering: "Isn't that because my tablet is Brazilian?" - I don't know, maybe the FW or whatever is ****ed up, just as almost everything else regarding tech that we get. It can even be that the info I got isn't that accurate and I have to get another specific Android keyboard that will work better. I'll need some help from you folks to decide which one, I have these options: Motorola, Sony and Logitech.
If you guys know any way to help, share. I'll be very grateful.
Thanks in advance!
Since you didn`t get an answer yet, I`ll give it a shot.
But I`m afraid there are no simple answers.

I`ve got 3 different bluetooth keyboards that I use with my GTab 10.1 and my Xoom. And I have to agree with most people on the internet. If I do some serious typing, I also prefer the Apple Keyboard. But all 3 of them work.

I`m not exactly sure what you are refering too, but once I marked the bluetooth keyboard as the `main`keyboard in the system settings, I did work OK for me. Instead of the `on screen` keyboard, I can use the bluetooth keyboard everywhere when there is some text to be typed.
Function keys is somewhat different. There doesn`t seem to be some standard way of dealing with that in android (but I didn`t check fr the latest version of android). What would you expect these keys to do ? For my convinience, I did remap some of them to missing keys on the keyboard. (e.g. To have a `home`key) But that`s a bit involved (see below).
But some things (like Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for copy and paste) work as expected.

Could be ... I just sticked to the qwerty layout to be sure. I did see quite some post from people that adapted the keyboard maping files to work with their keyboard (e.g. German ones), the same way that I adapted some of the function keys. You need to be rooted for that. The relevant files can be found in "/system/usr/keylayout/" and "/system/usr/keychars". But modifying these files is not easy or without risk. Currently, you can only find files in these that support qwerty keyboards if you have a standard setup.
A search on the internet will give you some examples of people that already did this. Or if you would like to play with these, I could also post a bit more on how I changed these files.
Hope this helps a bit.

I'm refering to the bluetooth keyboards for the iPad. These work OK for our GTab. My collegue at work uses one whith his Mac. We did use his keyboard a couple times with my GTab while pair programming. Works fine, besides the fact that his keyboard does not have an escape key.
There are also a lot of iPad keyboard clones from China (cfr. ebay) which also work OK. There is a version of these that are more generic (e.g. also support PC). I went for one of those. These have e.g. also an "escape" key, a "ctrl" key, arrows, ... And I need those keys a lot since I use "vim" to do my programming in a terminal.
I've have done most of my programming on the pad using this keyboard during the last five months. Works very good.
Example: http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/250926373986
I tried the Apple wireless keyboard and didnt like it. When I had my iPad2, I tried the Apple keyboard and much preferred the Logitech. I use the same keyboard (while Logitech makes "Android" and "iPad" specific keyboards, they are both the same except for the iPad one having "command" and "option" keys) with my GalTab 10.1 and it works great. It recognized it immediately and works flawlessly.
(And I think it looks better than the Apple keyboard - but that may just be me.)

its about the mapping of the keyboard as said above, but also the mapping maybe specific to different apps. I mean so shortcuts work for one app but not the other.
I recommend Kensington KeyFolio™ Expert for Android
It's real fast and accurate, but the keys are a little bit small. Go google it

[Q] German keyboard on LG Optimus F3Q

Hello,
as my old Xperia Pro gets slower and slower, I imported a LG Optimus F3Q from the US, as this phone isn't available in europe yet.
Now I came across an issues, which I cannot solve by myself. Maybe someone here has a good idea.
The physical keyboard is QWERTY. When I hold some keys longer, a window will pop up to give me the choice of additional characters (like long on u will give me an ü). That's fine, that way was it on the Xperia Pro as well.
Now, I am used to QWERTZ, which is common in Germany. When typing quickly, I will mess up with z and y a thousand times.
I can change the keyboard style to German/QWERTZ in the phone's settings. Z and Y will be at the place, where I am used to. Fine so far! But.... (there's always a but): No window will pop up, when pressing the keys a long time. Instead of a popup to select Ü, U will be written as long as I press the key (like this: uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu). That's quite anoying! I tried all the other keyboard layouts, none but the English/QWERTY keyboard will show the popup.
Is there any chance to get äöüßéè ect. with the QWERTZ layout? Do I have to press some special key same time as "U" for example? Or is some specific app available for this issue?
Any help is appreciated!
Cheers,
doclouis
P.S.: I don't think, it's a specific F3Q issue, but for all phones with a physical keyboard. If someone found a solution for some othe phone, I will try it out!
Hello,
I haven't found a Qwertz-Keyboard-App that runs on my F3Q, but finally I got a solution: I found an App tp rearrange the keymap and simply switched Z und Y keys.
Still there is this popup-issue. When I hold a key longer, a popup will appear to give me the choice of accent letters (äöüßéè etc.). Still, the line of accent letters is not in the order I want them to.
So, is anybody out there, who can give me a hint, how to change the sequence of accent letters in the popup???
Cheers,
doclouis
Hallo
As I'm a german guy too this is interesting for me as well.
Unfortunately my F3Q hasn't arrived yet but I would start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2804980
It is for the Samsung Captivate Glide device so it may or may not work for the LG F3Q but it is a startin point so I would give it a try.
Let me know if you had any success (or not)..

Still important
Hello fellow physical keyboard lovers,
I just received a nearly new (well, refurbished, but looks like new) LG Optimus F3Q. And, evidently, I too am interested in having a working QWERTZ keyboard and would welcome german localization.
Did you - over the time that has passed since - solve those questions or just change the mobile phone?
Youtube shows several videos of people allegedly running Nougat or Oreo on this mobile, but the links are either not working or have been removed due to (I assume) malware-spreading. Am I right in not believing this to be real?
F3Q is rooted, but nothing else has been altered so far.
I am currently using a Vernee Mars pro as "main" device, and was using an Elephone P8000 until recently.
