Google Now Launcher suddenly doesn't show any apps - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

Been using the Google Now Launcher instead of Touchwiz since I got the phone. Today I rebooted the phone and now the launcher is just a white screen. Nothing. Typing in search apps returns no results as if no apps installed. Touchwiz launcher works fine. Tried the usual, rebooting, clearing app cache, uninstall in, rebooting, reinstalling.... Nothing works. It's just all of a sudden broken.

Are you using Knox folders or settings at all? When i had my S7EDGE IT did that to me when i was using knox

Yep I just tested it it is definitely the secure folder that is causing the issue with the Google Launcher interesting. If you uninstall the secure folder and reboot the phone all the apps come back to the Google Launcher.

I didn't have the problem now that you mention it until I found the secure folder option and enabled it. After that the Google Now Launcher is empty. I actually like the secure folder feature and would rather have it than not. Samsung needs to fix secure folder so it doesn't interfere with normal Google Now Launcher usage. If you research the topic it's actually been a problem since 2015, way back.

[Q] Google apps force closing?

Anyone else having this problem since the last Google+ update? I even flashed back to a previous backup that I made before the latest Google+ update. Still have the same problem. Google+ works fine but gmail or gtalk force close. Just wondering if I'm the only one having the problem.
I meant google voice....not google+

Try wiping the data from the app.
Google voice updated and FCs on many devices. Since it is a system app it probably was not replaced when you restored if you did an advance restore or did not choose sytem apps. Delete and try to restore it. I restored my previous version from Titanium Backup.

Uninstall the app completely, then reinstall from the Market. Still, the GVoice app is still buggy as hell, it keeps freezing on playback and FC's 40% of the time if you select to choose every time whether to make a call using GV or not. I've always had nothing but problems with GVoice app in its every iteration, since my BB Tour days...

Correct me if I am wrong, but is GVoice really a system app? After ODINg to stock, had to load it from the Market every time.
Bad thing is...gmail is the app I want to use but can't.

Clear data in all the apps FCing and also in Google Services Framework.
And I thought Gvoice installed itself in the system directory. That is what I meant by system app.

Glad I can help. Almost any Google app that FCs also corrupts the data in Google Framework. Option to clear data there is no longer available in the GB leaks
Yeah..I used mybackup pro. No option using the GB leak.

Clearing app defaults

Got used to nova launcher (and bought prime) since I was on my s3 with liquid smooth, but now being back at touch wiz I keep getting a message saying that I need to clear my app defaults. Makes me choose which launcher to use each time.
Had this problem on touchwiz with my s3 but went aosp and didn't have the problem again. Kinda liking tw on this phone so I'd like to stay with it if I can figure this out. Already tried clearing all defaults and then tried going into the specific apps and clearing the defaults. No luck. Help?

Tap and hold on the notification. It should give a menu option of "app info" click it and post a screenshot. Thanks!

Why not FREEZE the launchers you do not want to use with Titanium backup, that way they will still be
there in case you ever want to use or mess around with those other launchers.
By doing that your default launcher will always be used without a popup box asking you what to do.
If you want to use another launcher which is frozen just unfreeze it...
I know that normally you should not have to do this, but if you just cannot figure it out it does not hurt
anything to freeze a launcher.
good luck!

Tried everything from the moon to the sun.
Error 493 or 491, package is not valid, etc.
I've tried everything and then some. Removed googlw account, reboot, add google account. Cleared data and cache on playstore. Uninstalled updates. Cleared data on services framework. Rebooted, rebooted, and rebooted some more.
NOTHING is working. What in the hell is going on?????
P.s. even tried cache and dalvik clear tgrough recovery. Even flashed a new rom, factory reset, all that. When I say I tried everything from the m9on and sun, I mean it.

You haven't modified your DPI settings or are using a ROM which requires some sort of modded Play store are you? Or changed build.prop settings?

Nope. Same problem on Virgin Rom, Golden Eye Rom (where I noticed the problem), then Darth stalker ROM.
All have the same issue. Even factory resetted on all ROMs. Same issue.
Here's the kicker. I'll try something new that I haven't tried before, then 1 app that was giving me problems will actually download. Then to definitely make sure if it's been fixed, try downloading something like Rom toolbox, same error message.
This happened ever since Virgin Rom, and really started taking effect once I flashed Goldeneye ROM.
Not saying those ROMs are the root cause, but just giving you guys a more clear picture of when this started happening.
If anything, it happened ever since I re rooted my phone.
Remove your Google account and re add it. Also recommend clearing data for Google play services, play store, and Google services framework as mentioned above. Do all this at once then reboot. Should fix it. At least it did for me.

Clear data. Don't give it any info. And make sure to disable all shortcuts for it. That's what I did.

I'm sure a good dev will figure out a way to get rid of it / replace it with Google now. Otherwise I got rid of the home button shortcut.

Easier fix for now is to install an alternative launcher like Nova Launcher.

I almost did too but it's a pretty cool app and I use it quite a bit. My wife has a Groupon account so I look in My Magazine for Groupon deals.

If you switch to the stock (TW) launcher does it still happen?
Also, in Nova, double tap a home screen to bring up the menu. Scroll to the bottom, tap advanced, tap restart Nova. If that brings them back you likely have an issue with Nova.
Yes...tried that...they just don't want to live here anymore.. I have to go to playstore for the app I want and open it from there....apps are installed but just not in the drawer...they will stay on the home screen if placed there but not in the drawer....never seen this before....no new changes to rom or downloads....weird

I (personally) would make sure my apps are backed up with TiBu and reinstall the rom.
Yeah I agree...just really didn't want to go that way but probably have a glitch....such is the life of a flashaholic...thanks for verifying what I suspected.

One more thing, if you haven't already, make an update zip in TiBu by long pressing the recent apps thing while in TiBu... Not from the menu. It makes a zip that only installs TiBu and its settings not the apps. This is better (imo) as sometimes update zip with apps can be a little squirrely.
When you get it working right let us know.
Good luck!
Cool beans....thanks...will keep you informed...
