Is the Note 7 worth the change from the S7 - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

Just wondering what the opions are of the ones who own the Note 7
I have the S6 sorry.

Yes in every way. I had a gold s7 and traded it in towards the note 7. Specs wise they are almost identical but that's not a bad thing. The s7 has an amazing camera and so does the note 7. The display looks more premium on the note 7 because of how little amount of bezel it has compared to the s7. The one thing that makes it more premium is the symmetrical body. The front is the same degree of curve and extrusion as the back of the phone. It feels balanced and more "premium" because of this. And it's incredibly more comfortable to hold than the s7. Above all (in my honest opinion), the best feature upgrade is the always on display and how customizable it is. I loved the s7 but the note 7 is a definite upgrade.
Also, subtle upgrades such as the haptic feedback/vibrate motor for when you're typing is more "solid" and less "rattley" than the s7. Hold one in your hand and play with it at a carrier store if you haven't already. Use it side by side with the s7 and the s7 will feel antiquated almost immediately.

Never owned the S7 so can't compare but do own the S7E and I would most definitely say yes, do it!
The camera software (pro mode) is improved on the Note 7 and that alone is a go.
The touch screen sensitivity is improved so you're not clicking on things you want to, etc.
The standby battery life is improved.
Haptic feedback is stronger and less "rattley". Ditto for speaker at full volume.
Display accuracy, whitepoint, etc. is better.
Phone never gets hot.
USB C port...finally!
Phone feels much better in hand without a case, good for those that run naked (no case) and have the "dropsies".

Type C alone on the Note 7 over anything the S6 had to offer would be reason enough for me to Upgrade to the note 7, if i had an s6. In other words, do it and dont look back to the s6... :good:

Switch from Note to Nexus?

Like JB on Nexus 7. Miffed at Note updates. Anyone with note switched and wished they hadn't?
Is the screen disappointing compared to note?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I switched last week. Best technology-related decision I've made this decade. The Note was fine, but since I couldn't stand TouchWiz, I was running CM9 (which wasn't quite full-featured, as the pen wasn't fully supported). The GNex feels so much better in the hand -- and pocket.
I hardly notice a difference with screen quality or size by looking at it, though the slight shrink in keyboard size took some getting used to.
Oh, plus I was able to stuff some extra cash in my pocket in the trade, even though the Note and Nexus were the same price when I bought the Note.
I had the Note, but sold it months ago. I love the Nexus and ability to get latest updates. I feel the Note, Nexus and SIII screens are the same for the most part. Believe it or not I do feel my Nexus screen is a bit better and very slightly brighter compared to the SIII, despite GSMArena test result said otherwise.
Screens feel about the same as far as reading goes. Although I do miss my note...... having a phablet is like a privledge. Not a right. I might trade the nexus back for a note.
Yes it was tested on animals, didn't fit.
Thanks for the replies.
Are you guys happy enough with the camera downgrade?
I have a camera for camera stuff..... thus is a device for media consumption
Yes it was tested on animals, didn't fit.
I used to feel the same way about cell phone cameras and REAL cameras. But I have found that taking photos on the note is extremely handy. Hopefully it will be on the nexus as well.

Note 4 or iphone 6+?

I am using Note 3 right now, everything is good, except its camera. Today I received iphone 6+, I use iphone before but I wants bigger screen. then switch to note 2 and been fans of Android. In my option, Android is much fun to use and I can do lot more stuffs there than iOS. Normally I taking lot of photos from my phone. Camera is pretty important to me. Now iphone have bigger screen 6+, and its camera is much better than Note 3, should I back to iphone or wait till Note 4? Or note 4 will also have so so camera too? More mega pixels are not really mean anything, I really not understand when Samsung selling phones for $850 and they can't invest few bucks more to get better camera for their flagship phone, if my Note have good camera as iphone, I dont have to make decisions like this...

Note 4 camera is much improved over Note 3. It also has optical image stabilization now and really fast focus. I think you'll be impressed.
If you just got the new iPhone 6 plus why not just keep it? Both camera would do pretty good so its subjective. There's plus and minus to both.

Here's the camera comparison ipone 6+ vs. Note 4. I'm speechless!

My concern is the camera as well. I discovered a couple months ago at the Jay Z Beyonce concert, the Note 3 camera doesn't video night images very well. It would record images ok under the normal white light. The stage lights would often change to different colors i.e. red, blue, purple and this where you see the weakness of the Note 3 camera. Whenever the stage lights were other than white, the color of the light would create an over exposure and drown out any other image in the frame. I pretty much could only get decent video footage on the white lights. I'm hoping that this area had been greatly improved with N4. Otherwise I might have to switch to another product with better capabilities.

Feeling bent out of shape?
In case you are thinking of getting an iphone plus...
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...w-smartphones-bending-in-pockets-9752204.html
so if i read that correctly, the Note 4 took better photos? I also saw an article earlier showing how the 6 camera actually had some software issues with it.

Note 7 or S8?

Didn't really think I would but I am tempted by the Note 7.
Got the Edge 7 Exynos and like everything about it. Superfast, no glitches in 4 months and I like TW.
Lately I'm debating whether I could use the pen and have a feeling I may use it more than I think.
I'd loose some money if I sell my Edge and price is not set yet for the Note 7 here in the UK though I think it will be around the £650 mark.
It would probably cost me about 200 quid to change to the Note or would it make sense to wait for the S8 which will probably have more differences to justify the cash. I frequently use the camera and it is nothing short of superb. I just have a feeling the S8 will up the ante in that respect with probably 16 or more mp and similar quality. The possibility for cropping would be greater.
What do the wise souls on here think? :cyclops:
Go for the Note 7, since it'll always have the SPen advantage over the S8 and S8 Edge.
There's no reason to not get the Note 7 if you're thinking the S8 will have better specs... since that's just you playing the waiting game.
S8 is a phone that will be released in 2017 and in terms of specs, flagship phones released in a later year are always going to have better hardware than the current year releases.
Even if the Note 8 doesn't offer much hardware improvements over the S8, I can confidently say that the Note 8 will offer all the S8 has plus more...
Going by this trend, its safe to say that the Note line is pretty much the best Samsung can offer during the year.
Think of it this way, the S7 Edge has almost all the S8 has plus more. The Note 7 has almost all the S7 Edge has plus more.
Get the Note 7, since you'll be getting the best product released by the company of that year.
If you wait for the S8, all that will happen is you getting the 3rd best phone released by Samsung of the next year.
Don't wait for a better spec phone to come out in a few months, you'll just keep waiting and seeing more and more better spec'ed phones come out.
Go for that Note 7.
Buy that Note 7.
Use that SPen.
I can't live without the SPen.

Considering you have a GREAT phone that you are happy with, I would not upgrade if I were you. Neglecting iris, USB-C, .2 inch screen size, and the stylus: the Note 7 IS the Edge 7.
If I were you, I would wait to see what 2017 brings. If by then you still feel you are attracted by the stylus, I think the Note 8 may be the answer.
Two sensible replies and I am still not any closer but I hear you both!
s8 or s9?
Have you considered that the Note 7 will also have gorilla glass 5 and USB 3.0. over the S7 edge. I'm waiting too to see what the USB C fast charging actually means over the S7 edge once they start testing it.....that and the battery life.
Cheers

The s-pen is something I'll never go without again. It is AMAZING once you adjust to realizing you have one. I use it daily and it's so much handier than you even think. Get the Note 7.

I'm getting the note 7 from the S7 edge personally and plan to hopefully hang onto it until the note 8 is out. I'm an upgrade whore though and usually wait until phones are available at a discount, but with the N7 I just went for it.
I had a Note 3, Note 4 and then went to the Nexus 6 while the wife and kid went with Note 5. I was afraid I would miss the SPen. I was right. I pre-ordered the Note 7 the other day. You don't know how much you use it until you don't have it

I change my phone every 6 months
so Note 7 now
and cant wait to know the new stuff coming with S8

I had USB C on my P9000. It took about 70 mins to charge from about 5 % to full. 3000 battery. The S7e takes about 1.5 hours. No big difference. It will get interesting when phones take 10 minutes to fully charge.

Except that the charge you get from fast charging is used up just as fast as it came.... fast charging as it is sucks no matter what connector it's through

When I had the Note 2, 3 and 4 I never cared about the Galaxy series because the Note was still top dog spec wise going into the new year. But with the early releases of the Note 5 and now the Note 7 the cpu specs have been the same as the older Galaxy phones. So when the new Galaxy series come out the Notes now look old.
I like the old way but those Notes were released in October/November with the Nexus. With the release of the iPhone Plus models I think Samsung has no choice but to release early.
I was excited for the Note 7 but think I'll pass.
Edge version only.
Looks nice but too many downsides.
Same SOC as S7.
Same Camera as S7 pretty much.
Which is good but is still lacking a lot. Could be much better.
Side by sides with S6 is actually worse in many cases with the 12mp being noticeably soft.
Battery size is okay but I expect more than S7 edge in the Note.
Still running MM. Not N.
We can bet it still has the battery drain issue.
S8 will likely have UHS card support which could be a really big deal.
Exynos version has USB 2.1 it looks like... DAC might have been skimped on too.
Price.
I hope an S8 in a 5.5" with flat screen and better than everything noted above is in the works.
I've got my eye on the HTC Marlin. Samsung 5.5" amoled and camera (16mp), Sd821 with 128gb for around $500 would be very interesting. But knowing HTC..
See what other stuff comes this fall too.
I'm going with N7 for now. If the S8 is that much better when it comes out, I'll jump to it.
Jump on Demand is the best deal ever.

Note 7 vs S7 Edge value difference

So I got a new contract with the S7 edge for 200$ CAD.
Here the note 7 is 1050$ + tax. I didn't use my S7 yet, I could sell it for 800$.
I'm really interested by the note 7 and I should have wait before getting my new contract, but now it's too late.
I love have a phone with tons of feature, useful or not, but still there is a difference of 300$ minimum here.
I cannot decided if I should go for the Note7 of Keep my s7 edge, I like the edge, but it is "boring" when compared to the note7
Help me please.

I never understand these types of posts...
Only you can decide for yourself, if want the note then get it.
Not really a major decision here lol, just do what you want...its easy

Edge is definitely better value if you like the phone and will have better battery life since Note 7 is getting snapdragon in Canada. I'm in the same boat but I'm choosing Note 7 because the warping effect on the S7E from the abusive curve is too much for me and it's just so much more natural on the Note 7.
I'm deciding on either the s7 edge or note 7. they both have the same specs across the board, but the s7 has a better screen, less power drain, better battery, and isn't so huge.. having usbc means I need to carry an adapter with me now.
but the spen is useful for copying text where it's normally not possibe.. I'm so torn.. if the note 7 had a few hundred mah more battery I'd be so sold..
hope some more people respond here, definitely want to hear more opinions.

Here's something you won't learn from spec sheets - consider how the phones handle. I've held a friend's S7 Edge and I keep on accidentally tapping the edges, I've held a display unit Note7 and can somehow conclude that we won't accidentally tap the edges because they aren't as curved as the S7E's. I also tried touching the sides of both phone with my index finger and on the Note7 they're not responsive unlike the S7E's. Basically, I think the Note7's edge screen is curve done right.
Can't see how the screen is better on the S7/S7E.
USBC means it is future proof since that's where all devices are headed anyway, and I think we're already outside the initial stages of migration.
Note 7 isn't really "huge". Comparing it side by side to the S7E, the size difference is by no means big. Some might even mistake a Note7 for a S7E.
Having more battery capacity is indeed good, but 3,500 mAh is already substantial.
I am also debating between these two devices. I have a good data plan so I will most like buy it outright. Help me decide.

Been using the S7 while I wait for the new Note 7 and...

I don't know if it is me but it just seem like the phone is just better. Either that or I'm just falling in love with it haha. Firstly the speaker is substantially louder. It's as loud as mt Note 5 running TekHD. Battery seems to last longer and I appear to have a lot less stutter/lag issues. Wondering if I should just return the S7 and get the S7 Edge and call it a night. Gorilla Glass 4 I feel is far superior simply because it is more scratch resistant. I would still use my Note 5 but I am tired of constantly running out of space.
Wanted to see if anyone has had similar experiences.
The curves are too pronounced, it ruins the viewing of the screen.

Agreed. Personally I hate the curves. Not only do I click stuff by mistake on edges, I can't find a good screen protector....
Note 9 better have flat screen version. Too bad it probably won't....
the screen in note 7 is just fine for me
The difference between the S7 edge and the Note 7 is the S-pen. I cant understand consumers who pay the extra for the S-pen then don't use it? The S7 is a very good mobile and with deals going on right now is a bloomin bargain. If you are happy with the S7 you could think about keeping it and saving your cash.
