Been using the S7 while I wait for the new Note 7 and... - Note 7 Questions & Answers

I don't know if it is me but it just seem like the phone is just better. Either that or I'm just falling in love with it haha. Firstly the speaker is substantially louder. It's as loud as mt Note 5 running TekHD. Battery seems to last longer and I appear to have a lot less stutter/lag issues. Wondering if I should just return the S7 and get the S7 Edge and call it a night. Gorilla Glass 4 I feel is far superior simply because it is more scratch resistant. I would still use my Note 5 but I am tired of constantly running out of space.
Wanted to see if anyone has had similar experiences.

The curves are too pronounced, it ruins the viewing of the screen.

Agreed. Personally I hate the curves. Not only do I click stuff by mistake on edges, I can't find a good screen protector....
Note 9 better have flat screen version. Too bad it probably won't....

the screen in note 7 is just fine for me

The difference between the S7 edge and the Note 7 is the S-pen. I cant understand consumers who pay the extra for the S-pen then don't use it? The S7 is a very good mobile and with deals going on right now is a bloomin bargain. If you are happy with the S7 you could think about keeping it and saving your cash.

Note 7 vs S7 Edge value difference

So I got a new contract with the S7 edge for 200$ CAD.
Here the note 7 is 1050$ + tax. I didn't use my S7 yet, I could sell it for 800$.
I'm really interested by the note 7 and I should have wait before getting my new contract, but now it's too late.
I love have a phone with tons of feature, useful or not, but still there is a difference of 300$ minimum here.
I cannot decided if I should go for the Note7 of Keep my s7 edge, I like the edge, but it is "boring" when compared to the note7
Help me please.

I never understand these types of posts...
Only you can decide for yourself, if want the note then get it.
Not really a major decision here lol, just do what you want...its easy

Edge is definitely better value if you like the phone and will have better battery life since Note 7 is getting snapdragon in Canada. I'm in the same boat but I'm choosing Note 7 because the warping effect on the S7E from the abusive curve is too much for me and it's just so much more natural on the Note 7.
I'm deciding on either the s7 edge or note 7. they both have the same specs across the board, but the s7 has a better screen, less power drain, better battery, and isn't so huge.. having usbc means I need to carry an adapter with me now.
but the spen is useful for copying text where it's normally not possibe.. I'm so torn.. if the note 7 had a few hundred mah more battery I'd be so sold..
hope some more people respond here, definitely want to hear more opinions.

Here's something you won't learn from spec sheets - consider how the phones handle. I've held a friend's S7 Edge and I keep on accidentally tapping the edges, I've held a display unit Note7 and can somehow conclude that we won't accidentally tap the edges because they aren't as curved as the S7E's. I also tried touching the sides of both phone with my index finger and on the Note7 they're not responsive unlike the S7E's. Basically, I think the Note7's edge screen is curve done right.
Can't see how the screen is better on the S7/S7E.
USBC means it is future proof since that's where all devices are headed anyway, and I think we're already outside the initial stages of migration.
Note 7 isn't really "huge". Comparing it side by side to the S7E, the size difference is by no means big. Some might even mistake a Note7 for a S7E.
Having more battery capacity is indeed good, but 3,500 mAh is already substantial.
I am also debating between these two devices. I have a good data plan so I will most like buy it outright. Help me decide.

Is the Note 7 worth the change from the S7

Just wondering what the opions are of the ones who own the Note 7
I have the S6 sorry.

Yes in every way. I had a gold s7 and traded it in towards the note 7. Specs wise they are almost identical but that's not a bad thing. The s7 has an amazing camera and so does the note 7. The display looks more premium on the note 7 because of how little amount of bezel it has compared to the s7. The one thing that makes it more premium is the symmetrical body. The front is the same degree of curve and extrusion as the back of the phone. It feels balanced and more "premium" because of this. And it's incredibly more comfortable to hold than the s7. Above all (in my honest opinion), the best feature upgrade is the always on display and how customizable it is. I loved the s7 but the note 7 is a definite upgrade.
Also, subtle upgrades such as the haptic feedback/vibrate motor for when you're typing is more "solid" and less "rattley" than the s7. Hold one in your hand and play with it at a carrier store if you haven't already. Use it side by side with the s7 and the s7 will feel antiquated almost immediately.

Never owned the S7 so can't compare but do own the S7E and I would most definitely say yes, do it!
The camera software (pro mode) is improved on the Note 7 and that alone is a go.
The touch screen sensitivity is improved so you're not clicking on things you want to, etc.
The standby battery life is improved.
Haptic feedback is stronger and less "rattley". Ditto for speaker at full volume.
Display accuracy, whitepoint, etc. is better.
Phone never gets hot.
USB C port...finally!
Phone feels much better in hand without a case, good for those that run naked (no case) and have the "dropsies".
Type C alone on the Note 7 over anything the S6 had to offer would be reason enough for me to Upgrade to the note 7, if i had an s6. In other words, do it and dont look back to the s6... :good:

Upgrade from S7E?

Hello to all Note users, i would like to verify few things.
Does the device scratches easily? Does it have any wierd lags or slowdowns?
Has anyone came from S7E and was happy with that?
Thankn you.
If you're getting the exynos variant then it'll be amazing, snapdragon is a different matter; I want to swap to s7e instead due to mediocre battery, random lag hippcups and lack of root
I am coming from S7e and couldn't be happier. I loved the S7e but N7 exynos is another class. Better class. Note class.
A few games currently run really slow on the Note 7, Mobius Final Fantasy, HIT & Non Stop Knight. Side from that everything is great!

Hi. Its NOT an upgrade. The Note 7 is a business phone to compliment to S7 range. In some ways there are big differences but this is aimed at power business users or consumers who require and use the S pen.
Its much to early to write a conclusive report on the Corning Gorilla glass. In most engineering scenarios durability will come at a small price of softer materials. If its true that the Note 7 can withstand several falls from 1.5m 'perhaps' some of the previous iterations of the glasses hardness have been compromised to allow for greater durability? More time will tell. Corning have said the Note 7 glass is just as scratch resistant?
As for "Lags and slow downs" There will always be a minority of naysayers who report such things but the vast majority will find this mobile superb is most aspects.
If you own the SGS 7 I doubt the sideways step is worth it unless you need the pen and extra internal storage etc. Its a tad Zen riddle in that the SGS 7 and the SGNote 7 are similar yet very different?
I suggest the only opinion that counts is your own. :good:

[Poll] What screen size you want in next note ?

Since this seems to be quite the polarizing issue, what's your preference in display size of the next phone. May the democracy win!
I will say 6.0 but with better screen to phone ratio
I am happy with current size and shape, so 5.7. I'd scrap the Samsung logo on the front though..
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
The only way I will be happy with anything over 5'7 is if the keep the current body size, otherwise....no...cause that means the body will be bigger.
Do you remember the old days of s2 ? I mean 5 years ago, compared to my previous nokia brick the screen was huge. Then when I got the m7 (4.3 in I think) I said this is a giant screen/phone, definitely the biggest I will ever get. Tbh, that was also due to the power button placement on top.
Fast-forward note7 and 5.7 in, the moment I tried it I knew was perfect size. the curved screen and absence of bezels on sides helped I assume. I mean my 7yo (she has really tiny hands) carried it once one-handedly so who am I to complain about size?
I want 5.8 as I think they can keep the bezels smaller by making home button capacitive or something. But not smaller than 5.7 inch.
Nothing smaller than what we have now but would love a 6 inch screen and the same feel as the 7
Sent from my SM-N930P using XDA-Developers mobile app
Same here would love to see a 6 inch screen
I don't want to see a larger phone, the 5.7 was good enough for me. Don't want to see anything smaller either though. However, if they keep the dimensions of the phone the same and are able to make the screen larger on the same space (less top and bottom), then by all means, make it larger lol
I still own the Sony Xperia Z Ultra with a 6.4" screen. Had to own one, never used it as every time I placed it in a front pocket I couldn't sit down, walk nor drive as it would dig into my groin.
There is still to this day a die hard core of fans of the Sony Ultra who want Sony to produce the Mk11!!
I will easily resist. I have the original sitting in a draw in a nice case collecting dust. Its just too big, in fact its bloomin massive! Never again. Has to fit in a pocket and be mobile friendly.
Please be careful what you wish for as it may come true!
The Note 7 was perfection.

Mate 9, 6" Curved (Note7esque) Screen incoming!
Else if I could find the Note Pro 12.2 WITH S Pen Stylus available…
Seriously considering the Galaxy View 18.4"

You are confusing me, not difficult. The Note pro and View are tablets? I guess?

And the Note 7 is a "Phablet". Some of us have used our Tablets (Tab 3) as a Phone. And after becoming accustomed to using a Tablet even my Note 4 seems tiny at times. Really, what is the percentage of people who actually use their 'Smartphones' as a Phone these days? If all you want is to make calls then why bother with such an expensive device after all? Multi-Window/Split Screen really come into their own on a Tablet
After all the Note Pro is still a NOTE. A Pad?
*The View could be viewed as a Tablevision
The bigger the better! And if the whole phone is bezel-less, then it can be made larger, in height. I don't want it any wider than the Note 7 though. The Note 7 fit so perfectly in the hand.
At least 6". Without bezels could be 6.2"

Am I the only one prefering Note 7 design over Note 8 bezel less design?

Am I the only one prefering Note 7 design over Note 8 bezel less design? I mean, when I look at the galaxy s8 and s8 plus or the upcoming Note 8 that so called "Bezel less" design doesn't look organic.
The design looks overly crowded on top with camera, iris scanner, speaker, like they couldn't find anywhere else to put those so they just stuff it there to make more room for the screen. It's not elegant or simple. It's messy. There's no symmetry.
Yes, a big screen is always nice and welcomed, but the resolution is so unusual that it doesn't even fit most formats. So you get black bezels anyway.
------- The Note 7 however is simple. Not as pretentious as the s8 series. And its display is clear and clean and yet, it still manages to show freedom on the sides.
S8 "bezel less" design is not there yet. It's like some "freak" phone which tries to be bezel less but can't. It feels "uncomfortable"...
I have the S8 and my wife the S7 edge. When looking at them side by side, I find the S7 edge nicer to look at. The S8 design is rather plain when screen is off. But when using the phones, the S8 is much nicer to use. What makes it better IMO is the rounded corner, not so much the bezel less.

I do prefer the 16:9 screen aspect ratio on the the note 7 over my s8 plus...seems too long and skinny but i have gotten used to it.
I also dont like the black front of the S8s and prefer the back and front being the same colour as on the note 7....the black front looks boring.
The S7 and note 7 series are the best looking devices ever made IMO
Not having bezels is great but they can do that without the first 2 things i mentioned.
sent from my S8 plus, S7 edge or S6
I just hope that Samsung does the right thing and offer the note 7FE to everyone who returned the original note 7 and not just those in Korea.

I use to think the same way too. But after owning the Note 8 for 7 months. I can honestly say that I have gotten use to it. Don't get me wrong the curve edges are still a major eyesore during media consumption. But otherwise Samsung's new Infinity Display design is pretty good.
