Keep Note7 In-Box Accessories When Exchanging for Recall? - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know if when I go to exchange my Note7, can I just keep my original charger and USB-C cable and also get new ones with the new phone?
I assume some people legitimately do not know where their box and in-box accessories are anymore, even after only a week.
But I'm not sure if the replacements will have all of the accessories in the box, or just the phone.
Any ideas?

Um I would almost have to say you should be able to keep your old ones but I've been told that you need to bring everything back and you get a brand new box. I don't see why they can't keep the accessories in the new box and just give you the phone.

I was thinking the same thing. It would be nice to have an extra charger, but I'm not going to be a pain in the rear about it. Those folks are on the business end of a bad situation. I guess I'm too nice. [emoji4]

I lost my USB-C adapter and additional S-Pen tip. Dunno what happened to them

Do I need to contact Verizon about the exchange program or can I just take my phone and accessories in when the fixed version comes out?

Someone said that if you don't turn in the accessories, Verizon won't waive the restocking fee. I've read the restocking fee is $35. I think that's a fair price to pay for the official Samsung fast charger, USB-C cable, and USB adapters.

35 DOLLARS!?!?
How about I give you $3.50 and I keep the s-pen.

Might not be a bad trade off if that's the case.

For the full restocking fee we should be able to keep everything including the box.

when you return your device you only need the phone its self. if it is cracked or damaged we will accept it as well.

Anybody know if Verizon take exchanges of devices bought at Best Buy? I legitimately don't know where the wall plug or USB cable went, as I just moved, but I found the box and it has the extra tips and USB C adaptors in it.
Probably be better to just get it exchanged at Best Buy.

returns are location specific. but if you do exchange you can leave the usb and wall outlet with the best buy associates im sure they would do the exchange that way since they all come with them. you really only need the box in most cases but I know that we are taking even damaged devices at this point because of the huge PR issue samsung is getting hit on

I don't know where the USB cable and charger brick are. I DO have the box. Best Buy has also stated they will take back devices with cracked screens.

I just got back from Verizon.
I brought only the phone to Verizon attempting to return it, and they wouldn't take it without the box and all the accessories. I told them I don't have the box anymore and they said I still need to accessories.
I didn't get the option to return and still pay the restocking fee. Which in my opinion is bull crap because it's not my fault I was sold a faulty device.

I can see them requiring the box since it has the tag that matches the phones S/N and ICCID. They're probably going to replace the batteries and use these for refurbished. I don't see why they couldn't just take the accessories from the new box and transfer them to the old box for the exchange unless they're just trying to make it difficult.

I can get the charger and wire together but that little adapter is long gone. I haven't checked in with verizon yet but I sure hope they don't give me grief over this.
How can I tell a corporate store vs a 3rd party store?

Incorrect you must return all accessories with the phone as per Verizon.

I will be returning my n7 tomorrow. I don't "have" any of the accessories except the box and paperwork. That is the main reason for the return, I use a 3rd party charger. And somehow the frigging s-pen disappeared. ????.
I will fight my hardest not to pay a restocking fee. Will return with info tomorrow.

Maybe with the government getting involved, they'll have to take the device back in any condition now, regardless of what's returned with it.
Refurbs don't go out in a retail box with retail accessories anyway.

I bought one here if you like ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220685241015&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
It's about 2ft. and says its OEM Samsung. It does look like the cable that was in my t-mo Vibrant box only shorter.
Purchased on the Thur. 18th received Mon. 22nd.
Hope this helps
[deleted]
Monoprice.com sells them pretty cheaply but if you need one now, the T-Mobile stores (Limited / Corporate - not sure about the Kiosks) have an L-shaped USB DATA cable for $10.
BEWARE! Some USB cables are for charging only. It has come to my attention that certain stores such as Radio Shack, etc have been selling $20 USB cables that do charging only. This is likely not intentional, it's just due to inexperienced staff.
For example, this caused someone to come to me and ask why they couldn't mount their phone to their computer. Well, you can't if the cable doesn't support it. Make sure it's a data cable and it will do both before buying.

if you need one fast, try going to the tmobile store and ask if they have any extra vibrant usb cables (or any other micro usb cable) in the back. say you would pay for it,but u need it quick because your cat chewed yours up. usually they wont charge. worked everytime for me. i did it to get headphones and cables for 3 yrs =)
tmo has them for 15 bucks. just bought one the other day. it wa n the mytouch slide section - dont matter its the same cord.

Why do you want to do that. go to the market and by webshare and you can sync your phone with music and movies with all the gadget via wireless router.
I buy all kinds of USB cords off of Amazon. I bought 4 BB OEM cords for 60 cent a piece and they all shipped to tether for 2 bucks (they were only 3 feet though) . And I got a 6ft cable for 2bucks free shipping. I would try there first. I ordered them all on Monday got them by Wed. The Bb cords came from NJ not sure where the other one came from.

What USB did you break?? The cable?? The charger?? The phone port?? Your post is very vague. If its the cable you can buy one online just about anywhere for about $5, the charger you can get anywhere online or any USB charger at Best Buy will work as long as its at least 750ma. If its the phone port then I hope you have assurion or take it to a different sprint store to get a replacement.

Yea it was the usb cable I'm not a big fan of shopping online I was jus hoping they can replace I mean its 2 months old it seems kinda crazy to not make accessories for your most popular device as for best buy the only ones I can find are around 20 I'm trying to save a bit for the holidays and I mean I jus spent about 3oo on the phone and accessories these jus seems like bad customer support
And excuse me for my ghetto typing lol used to jus typing quick

Just order one online. Can pick one up for like 5$ like has been stated. The usb cable that came with or phone isn't any special htc cable, just had a sticker on it. And I wouldn't expect htc to sell cables as they aren't a retailer but a manufacturer.

Desire won't charge easily

Hi, My desire usb charge port is damaged. to get it to charge i have to keep moving the charger cable to various positions and get it just right to begin charging.
i sent it to htc for warrenty repair and they said It is not covered.
they say the part to replace is £3 or something and like £20 labour plus another £20 for the postage and for them to check it over.
i never responded when they emailed me to make a desicion to go forward with the repair. is it something i can do easily myself at home?
i only say this because the part is so cheap.
thanks
sam
Bump, any response welcome
Hi,
I would not attempt this myself. I have read of others who have tried this and failed. I had to return my desire to HTC (under warranty) and the service was excellent. Personally, I would send to HTC. Are you sure that this is a usb problem? I had a similar charging problem and changed to another USB cable and it worked fine. Although I had a new board fitted my USB when it was repaired the usb port still has a slight movement but I never have problems charging.

I don't think it's a good idea to get the slot replaced by yourself, it's not just like replace the LCD screen or what. Just give them the money and let those people get it repaired as soon as possible.
I agree.
I have not attempted this myself, but as you've already sent it to them, you will have to pay 20£ now anyway as they charge this for checking it.
you will have to pay the spare part too if you do it yourself so that's another 3£ on your bill (if you can get it in a shop near you. if have to order it, then you would have to pay postage on top).
So even if you manage to do it by yourself you'll be effectively saving 20£. In my opinion, that's not worth it, considering that there is still the danger of bricking it while trying to repair...

Agreed on the cable. I've gone through a couple that get loose and give me hassle charging. I had the same problem and used my other halfs newer cable from her Desire and . . . . bam!! . . .charging perfectly My guess is that's all it is.

I also would say you this that dont take the risk of attempting it your self, get it repaired whatever it may cost..
I wanted to know that is there something(alternative) one can buy to charge the battery if charging port does NOT work at all.
I'd say , pay for it. Don't try to repair it yourself. You'll mess it up.
I have the exact same problem. I have to bend the cable a little upwards for it to charge. On another charger it works fine. I have to admit, that it's a bit annoying. Paying about 50 € for a reparation or 3€ for a new cable. Simple answer

Samsung voided my warranty.

has anyone experienced this before? my phone would not charge, so i figured it was something faulty with the USB port. tried using different cables and chargers, and only my nook charger worked.. so i decided to send the phone into samsung for repair. after almost 3 weeks later i get the phone back.
no water damage, but i did buy the phone second hand.
on the invoice it said:
description: your phone is beyond repair.
fail description: gross electromech damage-abused
i contacted samsung and they said "I would like to inform you that the charger pad that gets connected to the USB cable of the charger has been lifted."
they told me it would cost more than the phone is worth to repair the i/f connector?
what sucks is that now the phone is unusable. if i had not sent it in to samsung, and continued using my nook cable.. my phone wouldn't be caput.

While I've never had this problem, why didn't you just buy another nook charger instead if that's what worked? I hate the Samsung charger, the one from my old Pantech Crossover is much more robust and sturdy then the Samsung POS.
What I'm curious about is why they removed anything if they sent you the phone back, that doesn't make sense.

because i figured this much: i had 3 months left on the warranty, and if the phone should continue to devolve into the point where it's no longer charging under any circumstance.. i might be out of the warranty period by then.
they said they opened the phone and found that some board (maybe the i/f, whatever that means) was lifted.. which may be the case, since i bought the phone secondhand. the guy i bought it from didn't seem like the type to open the phone, but who knows.
just spoke with them on phone: they said the i/f board was removed. does anyone know if this is user replaceable?

so i took it to a local store for repair, which will cost me $55. well worth it.
as it turns out, the guy who is repairing my phone asked me if i opened the phone before - because it seems like the USB port was removed.
so samsung's not at fault here, and they did the right thing in voiding my warranty. the true **** here is the guy who sold me the phone, telling me he had no problems and knowing that the phone was about to go caput.
i guess this should be used as a reminder that if you buy the phone 2nd hand, especially through craigslist, you should be aware of things like this.

i don't think the guy who fixed my phone did anything wrong, the phone is probably fubar like that.
i bought myself a qi charger ($25 for pad + charger). i guess it'll have to hold for the next 18 months.
more than likely, the phone was bought originally as a refurbished phone. while they do have a warranty, the refurb company usually opens the phone up and attached their sticker or whatever so that when it is brought in for warranty repairs or anything, they can see that it is a refurb phone and deny it.

question about charger

hi, i saw this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-2A-Trave...l_Phone_PDA_Chargers&var=&hash=item4d20bf0469
is it good as the original charger?
i wanna be sure its ok and won't make damage to phone's battery or something..
thanks!
Seems this one is an OEM charger. Not original but still good.
Suggest to buy the original one to add $10 rather than brick your $400 handset

While I agree with the other reply that the charger you're speaking of will probably work, I also agree that it's probably better to spare yourself a potential headache and spend the extra few dollars by getting a new original SAMSUNG charger. The reason I say this is because I've learned first-hand about the problems that can arise from buying 'economy' or generic replacement items for basically anything electronic and so I don't go the cheapest route anymore, especially when it comes to computers and smartphones
