Costco - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

For those who bought at Costco: I talked with a Verizon store and they said they would accept my exchange for new not 7 when in stock.

So did Costco say they weren't doing exchanges? I talked to Costco and they said they were going to do the exchanges.

Don't know, but she told me any Verizon store will take care of me.

[Q] Trading Rezound for Nexus

I am trading in my Rezound for the Galaxy Nexus because I'm pretty fed up with the hissing and buzzing noise that I've been experiencing while using headphones with the Rezound. The problem seems pretty wide spread and I don't feel like waiting around for an update to fix the problem plus I'm regretting my decision now that I'm seeing how tightly locked up the Rezound seems to be.
My question is if I call Verizon and ask for a replacement phone because of the sound issues with my Rezound whether they'll force me to get another Rezound or if I can get a Nexus instead. If they force me to take another Rezound I'd be better off just taking my current Rezound into a store and trading it in for the Nexus since I have until 15 January although then I would have to pay the restocking fee which I'm trying to avoid. Any tips from people with more knowledge of Verizon policies would be great. Thanks!
More than likely there going to give you another Rezound.
Take it back to the store and get the SGN is your best bet...
I went to a retail store originally to buy my Rezound, what a mistake that was as he would not exchange it, so i bought the SGN at a corporate store and up on the bay my Rezound goes...
If you purchased your Rezound after 11/15 then you are in the worry free guarantee period (so long as you didn't exchange another phone for the rezound). You get one exchange. Warranty replacements are not an exchange, I know because I got a warranty replacement and was still able to exchange my Rezound for the Nexus.
I got my first Rezound on 11/23, warranty replaced on 11/27, exchanged for Nexus on the 15th.
I hope that helps.
Ill have to check again to see if they will exchange my Rezound. as i know the return policy for corp is through Jan 15th or the 5th i believe...
Last time i checked which was the 15th premium retailer had said no as he was retail and they set there own rules from corp...
I had tried another retailer same name and was told i had to return or exchange at the same store...
yeah I called the store I picked it up from and apparently since they're just a verizon authorized retailer they don't follow that JAN 15 return date... so I'm guessing I'll have to actually take it to a real verizon store or call verizon

I tried the corp store for the return as well, i was told i could not return it there, I don't remember the reason they gave me at the time.
I ended up buying it outright a few hours later from the same store as they only had a $650 price, BB and The shack both wanted $800...
I wish you luck on getting it exchanged at an actual store...

I saw it at radio Shack for $99 after I paid $199

I saw it at radio Shack for $99 after I paid $199 at at&t, called them up and told them about it. They informed me that they don't offer price matching.
I informed them I would just return the phone and go buy it from the shack.
They promptly credited my account $100.
So apparently anyone can get it for $99 if they are willing to work with a customer service representative.
Hope this helps people get credited

great. Im about call them and get that $100 back. Will update for details later.
Edit: ok, so i called in and talked to the sale reps. They put me on hold for a few minutes and said since this is a promotion from Radioshack for the $99, they wont honor the deal and what they can do is give me a $25 credit on my account. So i used the comeback line and said I can just go refund the phone and get it cheaper at AT&T. Then he said i will be subject to the restocking fees from the store and disruption of service for a few days. So i accept the $25 credit and will call again to talk to a different reps to see what they can do. Will update again.
Where are you seeing this at 99$? Just looked at Radio Shack s website and its 199

yes but i was able to get $25 credit back to my account which is always nice for just calling and ask for it lol.. The CSR couldn't verify it either on the website and they said it must be a store promotion, meaning you have to go to the actual store to see the deal.
Glad you liked my post enough to steal it, please learn to write your own posts or give credit to the original writer no matter how simple it may be
Second, if you want at&t to credit your account like they did mine you have to be speaking with a cs rep manager to begin with
And for gods sake be firm and truthful when you tell them you are going to just return the phone to at&t and go buy it elsewhere.

I took a slightly different approach...
I called up AT&T, explained that I just purchased the phone last week from a corp store for 199 and wanted to be credited back 100 to match what "various retailers" (not specifying which one) offer. The lady I was speaking with balked at first. I explained that if she refused, that was okay, but then I'd have to keep calling back until I got a customer service rep that would actually take care of this.
She asked me to hold on, came back and gave me the credit. I also got the $36 "upgrade" fee credited for my troubles. (I almost felt bad at this point because I never paid or was charged an upgrade fee - it's automatically waived due to my FAN account.)
Sometimes, blunt honesty works best.
So really it's not that radioshack had it for $99, which they don't, it's just that you committed a class A misdemeanor of defrauding a merchant.
*golf clap*
Next, you could always steal one of the fake display phones and try to return it for a full credit.

Radio Shack no longer has it on sale

Was it a very short, one or 3 day sale or something? or not for at&t? or only for certain areas? because the ones in my area never had the at&t model on sale for $99. they did a $149 sale for a couple of days but that was it.
It was on sale here at Fort Hood for two whole weeks

When I ordered mine they matched the $99 Walmart price. I was told it would be $300 + Tax and I was in no way going to pay that much!
I also received free over night shipping!
Yeah they do price match and free overnight has usually been the standard for most upgrades or online sales. I was just curious to know where, be it radio shack or now walmart, they have the at&t s3 going for $99 at the present moment (not so much the past), which is why it caught my eye.
Is Walmart running that deal right now for at&t? I know they did it for Tmobile in the past.

Wow I didn't know FAN account doesn't have to pay the $36 upgrade/activation fees. Those bastards! I'll call them tomorrow to get $72 back from 2 phones.

It depends on your particular FAN account. Some waive it, some don't. If all else fails, Just Play Dumb.

just called them and got $74 back... You're right, my FAN account doesn offer no-fee upgrade fees but since my account has been in good standing for 10 years, they waived it with no hesitation.

T-mobile paid for my Insurance claim

Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else has to file an insurance claim for their 32gb t999. While camping over the 4th I lost my s3. Upon returning home I initiated a claim through Asurion only to find out they can't replace my 32gb model. My choices were a 16gb version or a Nexus 4. I was not going to take a downgrade so I called Asurion and was told there was nothing they could do I even tried speaking to a supervisor and got nowhere. So I called t-mobile told them I was upset with Asurion not offering a comparable replacement, the rep was totally in agreement with me and got Asurion on the line. They offered me the full retail value of the phone! I was stoked so I told the t-mobile rep that would satisfy me. The t-mobile rep hung up and the Asurion rep then told me that the check would take 2 weeks to arrive! I could not go without a phone for 2 weeks and I definitely didn't have 580 bucks to front while waiting on the check. Called t-mobile back told them I was still not satisfied they then agreed to credit my account the insurance deductible if I took the 16gb model. Losing my phone turned out to not cost me a cent just 16gb of storage which I'll miss but not worth 150 bucks.
So sell the S3 16GB and use the 580 to buy an S4? Profit!

Who's gotten a replacement already?

Samsung had said it may have replacements as early as this week.
That is true. Just got off phone with Verizon this morning they stated new note 7 will be in stock next week

That's cool. Well another week of hoping everything is good lol.
I am sure there are note 7 already made from the atl factory. So those i assume will be the replacement this week if so.

Per the discussion I had moments ago with a Verizon rep for their on-line store, September 17th is the expected date for new (non-exploding) Note 7 inventory.
I've been told by a rep from Samsung that the Note 7 replacements were received by Verizon stores today. I am going to the closest store today to hopefully get a new phone. The phone number set up by Samsung for the Note 7 replacement issue is 1-888-987-4357.
UPDATE 03:02 PM: I just checked with the closest stores to me and no replacements have been received.

I can confirm that the Samsung rep was wrong. The 3 Verizon stores that I talked to have not gotten replacement units yet.

I called Samsung this morning and the woman I spoke to said that the new phones should begin shipping out the end of this week and that I should start calling Verizon around Wednesday of next week (9/14) to see if they are in stores yet.
Well I'll be in the Bahamas next week, so hopefully they have some Note 7's left for me to exchange when I get back lol
Just got back from a VZ store. It's amazing how incompetent these stores are. They dont know annnnyyyytttthhhiiiinnnngggg. Or rather they just dont want to be bothered. If you have products arriving, or you placed an order for a product, shouldnt you know when it is arriving? I can't imagine Corporate or UPS does not provide tracking numbers.

Each store acts like their own and their employees don't know anything Zzz
No new Note 7s anywhere in Midland/Odessa. Unknown when stock is coming in.

Look guys, there has been no actual information from samsung in regard to this incident quite honestly its gonna be a minute they have to re-product a few million Note7's so them getting it done in a few weeks is fantastic but we all have to take into account with a production this fast
what other problems are going to pop up, also if the quality is going to be the same?
with that being said I manage a location and the reps are not misinformed there are not informed because none of our stores have been updated after us allowing them all to be returned damaged or not. now if the reps you are speaking with no professional enough (a bad apple) then ask to speak with another or the manager, we are all about our customer service.

I talked to the manager at a VZW 3rd party retailer and that's pretty much what he said. There has been no official process handed down from Samsung, nor VZW, regarding the exchange of a Note 7 to a Note 7.
He said the only official process handed down is the waiver of re-stocking fees to the 30th and exchange to a S7 or S7 Edge.
Annoyed
To be absolutely clear - I would not expect them to have a new phone in my hands today - I do expect them to have figured out a plan before now, communicate the plan via the media and contacting their partners (aka Verizon) and their customers (aka you and me). I don't find it acceptable that I have to send them the phone back and then they will reimburse me and then I can purchase a phone. Their problem, make it easy for me to cope. Don't make it my problem.
I love my Note 7. I love the dumb stylus that I didn't want to like. But today, I am angry and I am not good at being angry.
Sorry, I needed to vent with folks who likely understand/empathize and frankly probably feel the same way. I will go back to being supportive and reasonable in a little bit.

So now that I got an email telling me to turn off the phone I went to the Verizon store. They had no loaner phones. The only thing they could do is let me get a new phone at full retail and waive the restocking fee.
I called Samsung. They took my information and said go back to the Verizon store in 24-48 hours. They should then have a loaner phone.

I went to Verizon store today and they exchanged my Note 7 for a Samsung S7 Edge, but it is not a true exchange, I have until Sept. 30 to exchange again with no fee for the Note 7 when they arrive. If it should happen that the Note 7 replacements are delayed beyond Sept. 30, they will extend my exchange period until they arrive. The manager of the store gave me his card and cell number and wrote down the terms for me. He guaranteed me that I will get one of the Note 7's when they arrive, no matter how long it takes for their shipments to arrive.

They offered that for me. My problem is I still have unlimited data. I use every loophole to stay in contract and still have my data at $29.99. I can't just return and re-buy at the store. I explained that to the manager. This was the best suggestion he had until the replacement arrives.

Note 7 Recall Torture. ANy Help Please?

I am very frustrated with Note 7 recall, and I am UNABLE to EXCHANGE my note 7 with another phone. I NEED help.
I initially paid 30% and purchased it from Sam's club on 8/19. I paid the remaining 70% ($615.99) at AT&T store on 8/20. When the phone was recalled, I went to AT&T store, and they asked me to go to Sams for replacement. There, Sams could not activate my phone as it was coming up as not eligible for upgrade. They called AT&T representative, and he advised them to override it by putting me on an installment plan. This is despite the fact, I had shown them the receipt of full payment. AT&T rep on phone told them that that is the only way to activate my new phone. They did it on 9/10.
It was later exchanged for second note 7 (unfortunately), when it became available. Now, AT&T wont take off my installment plan, and won't replace my Note 7. I was directed to go to Sam's club. I went back. The Sam's club informed me that they need to put me on another installment plan to activate, if I have to exchange the phone! RIDICULOUS, isn't it.
I called AT&T and lodged an official complaint on Oct 1st. I was told that it will be solved by 6th. Never received any information. I called back on 7th, and it was expedited (after explaining the whole story for 1 and half hours), and was informed that it will be resolved by 10th. No response from AT&T till 13th. I called again and spent 2 hours explaining my pathetic situation. She took pity on my, and promised that it will be solved very soon.
I called on 17th, and 18th. Each time talking to a different representative, and spending between 1-2 hours each time. Only verbal assurances, and lip sympathy.
On 18th, the manager felt bad and said she would send a phone for free overriding the price. I was glad she took some firm action. However, she informed me that in Mississippi the sales tax has to be paid even if it is free. I agreed to pay the sales tax. I hung up, and received an email from my credit card that I was charged $850.64, instead of $55 for sales tax.
I immediately called in less than hour of this transaction to cancel it. The AT&T cannot find any charges to my account, and hence cannot cancel it. I called again after 2 hours, and still they cannot find any such charges. I called on 19th morning only to be told that they cannot cancel those charges as the item has been in the shipping process. I should not accept the shipment, when it arrives.
To my frustration, FedEx guy leaves the phone box at the front door.
I called Samsung, they told me that they cannot help, but suggested that AT&T should exchange as I paid major portion of the price with AT&T. Now, I have paid off the phone, but still have the installment for the same phone.
I am flying out tomorrow, and I am stuck with this note 7. Any Advice, what should I do?
Thanks.

I am sure the Fed-Ex guy didn't leave anything at your front door now did he.
Ryland
I didn't write that either.
Yup. He did leave it. I had to mail it back to AT&T this afternoon. I may probably get an old phone in the mean time and switch the sim card, and take it with me. I do not know how to get this issue resolved. I don't have any AT&T phone numbers for people at the higher levels, who can take decisions.
