if i satisfied, why should i come into these lovely XDA forum?
well anyway, i come into XDA since . . .
1. a lot of bloatware (asus seems to be aware of it, recently added/updated the abilty to remove/uninstall the bloatware)
2. pretty fast? yes
but something like try to left behind the previous flagship, zenfone 2 still stuck on lollipop
3. i do know zenfone 2 using intel, hope ZF3 (snapdragon) never repeated the issues the big brother

Activated mine yesterday, 2 updates were downloaded in the 1st 12 hours.
1st was about 250mb to 300mb and the 2nd was a little one at approx 80mb...

Is there a seperate thread fr the 2 gb variant of zenfone 2

is there going to be a seperate thread fr the 2 gb variant of this device and will the roms that r gonna be made fr 4 gb variant will be ported to 2 gb variant too?
Dont worry. Why do you think they wont make a rom for 2gb version?

dude i just got this device a weak ago and i m in love with it...since i found no seperate section for 2 gb variant and people have been talking about mostly 4 gb version..it made me wonder if development was gonna happen fr this device too..?
They are the same device. We dont need separate thread. It doesnt matter what CPU it has or how much RAM is in it. They are all ZE551ML model.

before buying this i was told by many people and it was written at many forums that only the flagships evices with snapdragon chipset are biggest recipient of all the development, and devs usually dont like compiliing roms on intel based cpu devices.hence zenfone 2 might never recience any cynogen or aosp based roms ..is it ture?...i rooted my previous xperia deivce and installed a couple of roms and kernels so i have a fair idea of how this all works but i m still kinda noob to all this...
Cm12 rom is being build right now and someone is making a kernel. Remeber other phones cant run win7 or 8 so smooth.

The ZE551ML has an unlocked bootloader, ours does not. I'm starting to lose hope in this phone.

I think he is talking about the 2 gb ram version.m not aware..of bootloader status but its just that most of discussion here is bein done about 4 gb ram version..so i just have feeling that we might not get any rom ported fr 2gb version..i am not a dev myself..so i have a humble request to all devs to port roms made fr 4gb version on 2 gb version as well thank you..the present stock rom has severe memory leak problem..
Well there are 2 versions of 4gb version. 1,8Ghz and 2,3ghz cpu. I dont think there would be such a problem to do a bit of code to make it work on 2gb of ram.

As a 2gb ZE551ML owner, I can assure you that we don't have anything to worry about us being supported. Same for the ZE550ML and ZE500CL especially, it may seem all the focus is on the highest spec models but we're all Zenfone 2 owners in the end.
This is how all new non-nexus devices have to start out until we can reach that adequate balance between models. Remember the saying, "Be together, not the same."

The ZE551ML exists in 3 configuration ...
2gb/1.8GHz
4gb/1.8GHz (mine)
4gb/2.3GHz
which are basically all the same phone! Kernels, ROMS and recoveries run on all the same!
The ZE550ML has also an unlocked bootloader (don't know about 550CL ... why made asus so damn many versions?!? )
And even the 550ML/CL are nearly the same. So nobody has to worry about not getting anything. When the Kernels etc are stable enough, somebody will port them to the other devices.
The people porting CM12.1 to our device are working pretty hard as far as i can tell (multiple commits a day on github).
What i really want to say with this is ... give it some time. The phone is pretty new and we have devs that are working on it :good:

ur reply gave me some hope...when I got this device I was worried that since it uses intel cpu its not gonna have many roms or kernel built fr it...but seeing the devs working so hard and community so active ..its only a matter of time
I am a 2gb base model owner and I can test to receiving all the same updates as the high end model. We are all treated as equals when it comes to updates and updates have been very frequent and this is extremely impressive when compared to the other smart phone manufacturers.

What should I know before buying this device?

Hi all, I do not really care about 4G.
This might be my next phone so I'd like what is intersting to know when you use the phone.
I already know about the not so good camera, the noise when recording and the youtube sound bug. Have the owners on reddit something else to prevent me about?
I am also considering Huawei Nova (not plus) and Redmi Note 4x. If someone have tested many of those 3 devices and can give me advice.
Thanks in advance

Hi, the sound sync bug is barely noticeable on my unit, the delay is minimal, I have the UK version with S056 stock rom out of the box. The 4/64 version of Redmi Note 4X is still not available and the Nova is only 5" with significantly smaller battery and also only 3gb ram. I have the 4/32 version of P2a42 and I can't be more happy with the device. The build quality is superb, the display is gorgeous, the rom is 99% stock Android 6.0.1, the cpu is super snappy, only the high end games like NFS No Limits, Modern Combat 5 and GTA are not running smooth on full details. And here comes the battery, the battery life is amazing. Right now I'm on 54%, this is my 3rd day on a single charge and I already have 6h25m screen on time with 2h of heavy online gaming with games like NFS No limits, 5v5 moba games like Mobile Legends, Heroes Evolved and so on. The math shows that I'll end up with more than 12h SOT and using the phone without charging for a full 4 days, if no gaming and only 2-3 usage 14-15h SOT are not a problem for this phone.
I highly recommend it and currently for me Lenovo P2 is the best balanced phone between performance, battery, build quality and reliability under $300.

P2 - Worth buying?

I have some questions plz answer these -
1. Does it have 2.5 D glass
2. How good is the display i.e. are blacks deep like Samsung phones considering it has an amoled display
3. How is the build quality?Had any scratches
4. How good is development for this phone ,I mean I have Mi4 and still is well developed Can I expect these to be developed for at least 2 - 3 years.
5.Is camera that bad ?
1. No.
2. IMO yes.
3. Superb. No wiggle room anywhere.
4. TBH quite bad at the moment compared to other devices. It seems like progress is being made although very slowly. The stock ROM is decent enough to warrant using it in the meantime though.
5. It's bad. God... So bad.
The display is amazing, i didn't want to purchase another Amoled screen ever again since the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but this phone is worth it.
Even though the build is great with an all metal build.. you should still get a case and screen protector to keep it shiny.
I'm sure development will get much better, there is no rush. After reading around the forums it seems the Roms are usable.. but hey.. it is a lot better than the Dev for the Zenfone Max. They have troubles with no offline charging and phone doesn't turn on when battery reach 0%, so users have to keep it above 5% in order to not semi brick it. This device don't have those bugs.. so that's good.
Also another good thing is that they have numerous Roms and am glad that they update the Lineage 13 Roms too, but Stock Rom is just as fine.
Until Lenovo fully stops updating soon; probably by September 2018.. using Custom Roms would be ideal to update when it happens. That would be my suggestion.

Hey, Thanks bro
But I think Redmi note 4 which retails as same price has many more developers and roms and much more engagement.Thats why I am a little worried to buy this. Here I saw just 2 developers doing all the work.I respect their work. But still we are here lacking kernels etc.
Do u think lenovo will continue providing updates till September 2018.I don't think so.

From a technical perspective it seems like a great device indeed. But you are correct. Moto & Redmi (I guess Huawei too) are more widely-spread. However (speaking for me and the local market) compared to the best available version of Moto G5, this phone has slightly better technical specifications (+1gb ram) for the same price.
Dude, I really hope, that I will enjoy this phone as much as my old G2 and my ancient Galaxy S. :fingers-crossed:

5z is great ... Should get more support

As we know 5z is a gr.8 device but sadly Asus doesn't give a damn about focusing on improving the overall performance.. most of the games that should run like a charm are lagging just because poor software optimization . It's becoming a pain hope they do something about this premium device
Doesn't give a damn? They've released quite a few updates already.....
I've already got 2-3 updates since i bought the phone, Asus is doing really good job for now .
I've played only PUBG on the phone for now, Game loads and runs smooth for me .

Not really far behind stock experience, Ram management is also very good on this phone .

I had checked received early updates option under update settings, just for the info:
I got my device 2 months ago and it is very snappy. I have no interest in having it become irreversibly laggy because of a major update.
I would love to hear if anybody had applied the update yet and if it slows the phone down.
If it does I will not update-- I'd rather have a snappy phone than one with the latest bells and whistles but sluggish!

I have just received the update (12.0.2) today. I'm from Chile, i have the global version, and it's been pretty good my phone. Pretty fast, new features quite good.

I've had this happen to me with previous phones. It's hard to resist the impulse to update, but sometimes it's really a big mistake.

Don't update. It looks nice, have some cool features, camera is better, but it feels like it is not the same phone anymore. It lags, some animations are perfect, but many are not. Icons animation is ugly for me, text size is also not OK for me, some is bold and some is not...
The best firmware was Android 9, all after that is worse and worse.
Btw I did factory reset after I updated, like I always do after major update...
Thanks!!
So glad I checked with you guys!
I noticed the slight slowdown also between A9 and a10 within MIUI 11 itself.
Still fast, but an ever so slight lag that wasn't there before.
I assume there is no way to revert to MIUI 11 without unlocking the device....
I'll pass!

This whole episode makes a good argument for unlocking and rooting. Even though I have avoided doing that since I had my Nexus phone, it would seem that this is the only way to prevent your phone from becoming obsolete.
The RN8P is not an old phone and its such a shame that Xiaomi would release an update that would degrade the performance so much...and not give regular users the option of reverting....but then again, I have seen this happen on my previous phones too.
My previous phone was an LG G6, a flagship from a few years ago. When new it came installed with A6, and by the last update was A9, which literally made the device unusable.
Manufacturers are in a dilemma, because on one hand power users demand updates for the latest versions, yet inevitably these newer updated versions use more resources and aren't optimized as well for a legacy device.
At the very least the manufacturers should provide an easy method of downgrading.

I really do not know why Xiaomi doesn't offer official method to rollback as Huawei does via PC Suite.
I am about to unlock my bootloader, but I am not sure what to do next, as all of these tutorials are so confusing.
I think I have to root then, and no idea what comes next...
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Yes it is confusing, Xiaomi does not make it easy to root, I suggest you submit your questions for guidance on unlocking in one of the dedicated threads
