You can use it but Quickcharge won't work because the OP3 only supports Dash Charge...
I tried several different chargers: 2A, 2,4A 3A. I'm only getting 1,5A if I dont use the original charger AND the original cable. I tried the original charger with a longer USB-C Cable and it did not dash charge at all.

So if I use a different charger and different cable it'll charge at the same 1.5A's as using original cable and different charger?

Yeah, as reported and reviewed everywhere, the only way to fast charge this phone is with the factory adapters and cables. It will still charge just fine with other adapters/cables - but you will NOT get fast charging with it. Just regular speeds.

If it is the original charger, as sold by OnePlus, then yes Dash Charge will work.

Car/Wall usb charging question

Hi guys,
I have a question regarding charging. Just bought the 5X recently and man, I had no idea of how many options were out there to charge your phone. Basically I have the OEM wall charger that came in the package. Now Im shopping for a regular USB to type C cable. I had a car charger in my car that I used to charge my Nexus 4 in but correct me if im wrong, it wont charge as quick since it probably doesn't support 2.1A, right? I saw this one on ebay and was even more confused.....
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/5-1A-5V-3-Po...514908?hash=item2eeac8aa1c:g:CnwAAOSwGotWnyhR
So if I charge in the 1.0A or 2.0A, it wont charge as quick and be like a regular charger? and if I use the 2.1A, it will do the fast charging???? So confused here.........
You will only get fast charging from a charger that supports it.
Your computer and current car charger will charge "slowly". Make sure you buy a usb c cable that meets usb c specs.

My OEM wall charger that came with the package does fast charging. Theyre rated at 3.0A
Ive already ordered the USB C cable, and its 2.0A, what are max speeds the 5x needs for fast charging?
Heres the cable I ordered
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/161918773991...49&var=460879113479&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
So Im assuming for the car charger that I posted above, I can use the 3.0 slot for my phone then to fast charge and the others do charge normally, however long that takes.

There is no usb 3.0 slot on the charger.
While it can output 5A it may not comply with the fast charging the 5x uses.
You will need to try it and see.
Heres a little bit of info

I myself will be interested if it works.

hmm interesting, im starting to get what is needed and how this whole fast charging happens. So I looked on ebay and came across this
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Tronsmart-5V...300586?hash=item2a61f87a2a:g:P5IAAOSwezVWysaM
I assume this would work with whats mentioned in the article you posted. But the cable I ordered says 2.0 so Im not sure if that will not let it fast charge in the car?
Is there anyways of seeing when the phone is being fast charged, how much voltage or amps are going through, etc..? Like is there any app I can try? I did come across one called Ampere but I have no idea how to read that.

Yea, you can use "Ampere" to measure the rate of charge. Coincidentally, Android Central just wrote about this app this weekend:

Quick Charge 3.0 & "Charging rapidly"

So I've now purchased a wall charger and a car charger that both have QC 3.0 and claim to support the HTC 10, but neither of them show the "Charging rapidly" when charging my device. Only when I use the original charger or an external battery with QC 3.0 does it display that. Is it possible that it's still charging using QC 3.0 while charging if it doesn't display the "Charging rapidly" on the lock screen? I really just want a car charger and additional wall charger with multiple ports that will rapidly charge my HTC 10. I'm really sick of buying accessories that do not when they say they support the HTC 10.
These are the accessories I've tried and none of them will display "Charging rapidly":

http://www.amazon.com/Charger-Trons...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
This battery does display "Charging rapidly":
http://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Cert...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00
Any ideas?
THIS is a good multi port charger I have one and it quick charges and displays on the phone it is. I use this cable on it.
For a car charger I use THIS and it quick charges no problem with THIS cable
I am wondering the same thing... what does a cable or charger need to provide fast charging... I wonder if it's the cables because I got one from amazon and use it with the htc charger that came with the phone and it does not "quick charge," it only does it with the cable it came with. I bought this one:

I just made sure they were the latest cables, the ones you linked to are USB 2.0 and 480mbps. while I made sure to get USB 3.1 to USB 3.0 cables and have 5gbps. I know the speeds really don't have much to do with charging say, but I think the generation of cable has a lot to do with it

Hmmm.... good point, if someone could confirm this maybe? Does make much more sense, I guess I should've read better. I will just get one of your cables because I just recently bought a QC 3.0 car charger and there's no point in it if it ain't fast charging.
So the Aukey multi-port charger came with a USB-C cable and it claims to support the HTC 10, so it's infuriating that it doesn't work.
I use this wall charger and it shows "charging rapidly" on the screen. I have an older cable with the micro usb connection, so I use this adapter to make the connection to the phone. Combined, they work like a charm.

Are you using a USB-C to USB-C cable? those accessories only have quick charging on the USB-C port. If you buy new ones make sure to check what ports support the QC 3.0. Sometimes the only have one port that has the QC and the rest are normal 2 amp ports.
I've just ordered the Aukey 6 port USB Quick Charge 3.0 Wall Charging Station from Amazon UK (link below), so I'll test it once it comes in and post here with the results. One thing I noticed is that the Aukey hub only supports QC3.0 on the USB-C plugs, not the USB2 ports. I'll be using this to charge my HTC 10 and my Pixel C using the USB-C ports and USB-C cables for both devices so I can see if both QC3.0 AND USB-C Rapid Charging works at the same time. The remaining USB2 ports I'll use to plug my Qi charging pads into and my smartwatch charger. Looking forward to not having so many plugs lying around.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Charger-Te...EFN8/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A2UZUMHNJKCOJU
I'll let you all know once it all comes.
Okay, so I just got delivery for all my bits in my previous post. I've made sure both my HTC 10 and my Google Pixel C ran down the battery to 20% on each and plugged them both into the USB-C ports on the Aukey charging station using USB-C to USB-C 3.1 cables, both 3 foot long. I'm not using any of the cables that came with my tablet or phone or the USB-C 2.0 cable that comes with the Aukey charging station, I am using Belkin USB-C to USB-C 3.1 cables.
Using the Belkin USB-C 3.1 cables both my HTC 10 and Pixel C show Charging Rapidly after around 45 seconds on the lock screen with a time remaining counter.
Using the Aukey USB-C 2.0 cable that came with the Aukey charging station I do not get Charging Rapidly at all on my HTC 10, I only get "Charging" and a percentage.
However, I do get Charging Rapidly with time remaining counter on my Pixel C when using the Aukey USB-C 2.0 cable.
Based purely on my own testing, I would make sure you use high quality cables, preferably the 3.1 gen cables and then nothing will be slow. I have no idea why the USB-C 2.0 cable doesn't like to Quick Charge my HTC 10, and I don't have any other gen 2.0 USB-C cables to try out, so sorry about that.
I hope that helps some of you out.

Mine does not show Charging Rapidly even though I use HTC supplied charger and cable! Do I need to activate it or what? I am using and EU plug converter to my US charger, might that be the problem, although I doubt it just passes on the same supply, its not a frequency/voltage converter.
Thank you for your help!

I'll check tonight and let you know later, but I'm pretty sure that the charger that comes the HTC 10 in the box is NOT a Quick Charge 3.0 Rapid Charger... Which would explain why you are not seeing "Charging Rapidly" with the original charger and USB cable. I may be wrong, but I will let you know either way in this thread as it is honestly something that I did not look at when I got my phone. Mine is a UK model bought in-store in the UK so what you get in the box may vary depending on the region you purchased from.

The supplied HTC charger and cable are QC 3.0 compatible. They show "Charging rapidly" when I connect my phone.
The iClever 24w QC 3.0 charger works with the orange-e 3.1 usb c. It displays "chargin rapidly". This is probably unrelated, but the charger doesn't show it as chargin rapidly, but the phone does.

The supplied charger is definitely a quick charge 3.0 charger, it even says it on the power brick. It doesn't matter what region you are in, all of them come with a quick charge 3.0 charger.

Yup, you are correct. Just got home and plugged my charger in and it too shows "Charging Rapidly". COol, now I have a backup in case my Aukey stops working for whatever reason.
@fidanhGPE I'm not sure why yours doesn't show as Charging Rapidly when using your original charger, possibly something wrong with your handset maybe? Sorry I can't be of more help to you as all mine works fine with the original HTC supplied charger and HTC USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and also with the Aukey charging station and a USB-C to USB-C Gen 3.1 cable.

Having a Nexus 6P, I was under the impression "rapid charging" only worked with a type-c to type-c charger..?

It might be the converter because you should get "Charging rapidly" when using the charger and cable that came with the phone (that is still weird though), and yes they are Quick Charge 3.0 compatible like the other person mentioned above.

I checked it, it QC 3.0 and it is charging rapidly, though I get it only on the power/battery settings only, no notification when I plug it in.
On another note, do you know if I can use old (normal) car chargers on HTC 10? Will it charge the phone, although I am not expecting a quick charge there? Will it harm the phone?

Nah man just make sure you have a type a to type C usb cable that has that 56ohm resistor crap to make sure your phone will be fine. Phone will charge just fine. I actually just got a QC 3.0 car charger as well and it doesn't charge THAT much faster than an old car charger I had.

QC Chargers

I have a QC 2.0 charger that worked fine with my Note 4 (2A) and Note 3 (only 1A), but doesn't charge my axon. It seems to be a protocol negotiation issue. Right when you plug it in, it says 1.5A, 1A, etc.. then after 30 seconds or so, it goes to discharging.
Has anyone tried their phones with other QC chargers (not the stock one that comes with the phone)?
The Axon 7 is QC 3.0, so maybe that's the issue?
My old non-QC charger work just fine with my Axon 7 (though of course they're not as fast).
I also have a quick charge 2.0 charger that doesn't work with my USB type c cables. However when I use a micro USB cable with an adapter it works fine so maybe give that a try.
Anyone recommend any QC 3.0 chargers? I would like an extra one for travelling and maybe one for the car.

It seems to be working just fine. However, the built-in cable might seem like a bonus but it's not such a good idea... It will be the first part to break (as always with attached cables) and you charger will loose its value.
I'D consider this instead. Same price but you need an USB type C cord (this pack is awesome). I own both these articles and i don't regret buying them one second .
Sorry, I can't post links since I'm a new XDA user...
I've bought on Aliexpress a Choetech wall charger (ASIN B01D9QZV28) and a Choetech car charger (ASIN B01582ELMC).
They work great with the supplied ZTE USB-C cable and a Choetech USB-C Cable.

Thank you for the suggestions. You know, it just occurred to me that my car (2016 Mazda CX-5) lacks a 12v "cigarette" style outlet up front. I have two always on dedicated USB charging ports in my arm-rest. Those ports are not quick charge ports though. I have two other USB ports up front where the 12v socket is usually located and these are standard USB for the infotainment setup. Hum.... The phone will charge OK on a standard USB to C cord right that lacks QC 3? Bummer. Was thinking I could get QC in the car but not likely! I will need the suggested cables either way though.
I may have a 12v in the armrest too, but same deal - I'll need longer cords.

If it's standard USB A ports, the phone will charge at a normal rate, just not at QC rate.
That's what i like about those cables. 1 is really short (~30cm/1ft) one is very long (~2m/6ft) and the rest are a standart length (~1m/3ft). They all provide USB 3.0 and QC 3.0 support.
Ordered! Thanks again.

At home, I use the quick charger and the USB cable that came with the phone as well as a Insignia 10 ft. USB-C to USB 2.0 cable with Insignia USB AC adapter.
In my car and on the go I use a Platinum QC 2.0 car adapter (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/platinum-quick-charge-car-charger-black/1638009.p) and AC adapter (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/platinum-quick-charge-wall-charger-black/1637019.p) with VCE cables (https://www.amazon.com/VCE-3-3FT-6-6FT-OnePlus-950-3PACK/dp/B01J0VVKEY). The cables are Benson-approved and USB 3.0 for a really good price.
I keep my old Samsung quick charge brick (from my Note 4) and a USB type-c cable from my OnePlus 2 in my bag for when I'm out and they work just fine for quick charging. Not as fast as the ZTE cable/brick combo, but pretty close.

Not Fast Charging in Car

So I have 2 Aukey QC 3.0 fast charging adapters for my car, however, neither work for the S10+. It either says slowly charging or charging. These adapters work fine with my S8+ so what gives? Did Samsung start blocking third party chargers or something, I've tried the factory USB C cable as well, so it's not that. Also, I use an Aukey QC 3.0 adapter at home which works perfectly fine, so I'm not sure if Samsung is only blocking 3rd party car adapters.
If anyone has a working fast charging adapter for their car, would you mind posting a link if its available on amazon? thanks
All of my current home and car chargers for the S9+ are working as fast chargers, might not be as fast as fast charge 2.0.

Yes, like I said, it works for my S8+. I have another adapter which is iRAG branded, that one works fine, so I guess I'll just re-order that one, if anyone is interested, it's this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073RQ915H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Surprising that the Aukey branded one doesn't work considering the S10+ still uses Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0, which is as old as the S6

Yes, like I said, it works for my S8+. I have another adapter which is iRAG branded, that one works fine, so I guess I'll just re-order that one, if anyone is interested, it's this one:

Samsung S10 series doesn't use Qualcomm quick charge 2.0 rather its Samsung fast charge 2.0. There are a lot of confusion regarding QC 2.0, 3.0 to FC 2.0

Download Ampere from the play store, everything over 1600 mAh Is considered "fast charging".
You'll have more luck with generic fast chargers such as some made by Anker or your previous one instead of those marketed for QC 3.0.
My own wall QC 3.0 fails to charge over 1a, it doesn't even fall back to standard charge or QC 2, which would be around 1.5a+, meanwhile my Samsung charger and Anker Power core 2 do 2.2a+ just fine, there is clearly lack of compatibility with Qualcomm's protocol.

If anyone has a working fast charging adapter for their car, would you mind posting a link if its available on amazon? thanks

I use the Blackweb 5.4 amp car charger that I got at Wal-Mart. It has a 3 amp USB-C port that I use for my s10+ that I use and it provides fast charging. I also use the USB-C to USB-C cable that came with it.

just at home helping people with tech, I can't answer in our language (I was warned for it by a mod here some time ago) since xda is english only

all my usb-c pd chargers report slower charge speeds than the stock 25w brick.

Guess we will hear more about this later with ppl with the proper equipment to test this, but i'm just gonna base this off the phone notification.
I'm getting the same estimated charge time using my 30w macbook charger, 60w monoprice usbpd charger, 18w usb-pd anker power bank, as a standard adaptive fast charger I have in the house (15w i think?).
Meanwhile the 25w brick that comes with the phone cuts the time by about 10min or so vs the other options above.
I did read about the 45w situation to be tricky, but this is the first time i've heard about the 25w charger being special in this way.
Would love to see more tests and see if there are 3rd party solutions that can get the full 25w speeds, and maybe the 45w ones.
hopefully its not a oneplus situation where you can only get the best stuff from their own first party chargers.

Was reading u need a Type C E cable, whatever that is. I bought a 45W wall charger and still waiting on phone to see what's the deal. Could be the cable you're using that cant handle the load

I was thinking about this. I tried the usb-c -usb-c cable that comes with the box on other chargers and sadly this didn't change anything.
Think you need the proper cable and proper PPS configs on the PD brick to get this working.

Yes you are correct. A special USB-C cable with an embedded chipset (E) is required along with special PPS. At this early stage I'm not certain many (if any) third party vendors meet these requirements. The only safe bet is the Samsung- branded one.
CONFIRMED !
i have a aftermarket 45w home charger and aftermarket 45w power bank.
both WONT charge at 45W, it charging like 15W.
when i plug in the stock 25w charger, it charging faster.
I have an Anker duel charger that has 45W USB C and a USB A. The USB C is rated at 45W and the USB A is rated at 15W. The 25W charges faster than the 45W. (at least what I am seeing)
Good info about the special cable. If we need a special cable... Where do we find it?
I do have to say, it charges fast with the 25W one.

Ill check mines when the phone comes later today.
But i do remember reading that it used a different voltage/amp set.
Which if the charger doesnt support it. Then it would default to the lower one.
I.e.
If your charger is 5v 9v 12v 15v
But the phone needw 10v
It would default to the 9v.
Cant remember where i read this. But was a prerelease testing
The safe way to go is to use the samsung official chargers, that are precisely tuned for this, I would not risk a brand new somewhat expensive device
What is this telling me? phone says fast charging.
Using an Amazon Basics 60watt PD charger.

yeah the phone claims it is rated for 10V at 4.5A and most 45W chargers use 15V at 3A, so likely to be nothing on the market fully capable of charging at super speed at the moment.
as for the USB cable it is a subset of USB 3.1 Gen 2, basically you need a cable with a chip in it, that chip allows you to break the 3A limit on standard cables. I've ordered this as I wanted a longer cable for my standard charger and should work with the 45W if I get it down the road. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073RY5JZ3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Now try this with the 25w charger in the box and you should notice shorter charge time remaining in the notification.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S2PCVGB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
the cables i listed are what I use now. I have a 1TB 12.9 ipad pro and picked up these cables to use with its fast pd charging.
this charger:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TC53ZYD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
is not PPS but it does have 9 Volt at 3amps. i tested it with one of my note 10s and the ipad from 10%. im using a 60W anker brick for the ipad:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BQJWDRM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and the newer ravpower brick charged up much faster. again not pps (pdo) but it is fast in my less than scientific testing.
I'm just gonna use my $200 Samsung pre order credit to buy several oem or 45 watt chargers.

How? I ordered one on 8/27/19 and it's not expected to be delivered till 9/26/19. It went out of stock like a day after I ordered. It's not even showing available on Samsung.

You might want to check to make sure you actually got the 45w charger as it's been out of stock since about 8/28 - 8/29.
