Replacement *Good* Batteries Anywhere? - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

Has anyone seen any good aftermarket or even OEM non-explosive batteries and rear glass for sale online? These things can easily be replaced with a heat gun. Reapplying a new OEM back door with adhesive preinstalled will retain water resistance.
I'm just sick of this waiting game and would rather replace the battery myself and be on my way.

That's a good question, but this would obviously void any warranty. I suppose at some point not returning a recalled phone probably voids a warranty anyway however.

When you have the option to wait a week or two, or even a month or two, and get a brand new replacement that's fixed handed to you at no cost...... why? I mean, it's not like you're dealing with a device that doesn't work right. Tired of waiting? For what?! How do you get tired of waiting when all you have to do is use the device, and forget about it until the replacements come in.... It's not like you have to work around something...

There is a rumor that samsung will be applying a patch that setts the maximum charge of the old phones to 60%. I would be worried that this patch would still apply to you regardless of the working battery...

Also the battery pack is probably a soldered connection.

EVO original shell pieces

With the release of the Best Buy exclusive White Evo.... I'm feeling kinda bummed since I just bought mine 2 weeks ago...
Does anybody know where to find original/oem/factory shell pieces, particularly the rear bezel and the battery compartment cover. I want to repaint them white or if possible, the white versions of said pieces.
Also information might be useful to DIYers?

Pretty sure its just a white battery cover on the white ones. Which you will be able to purchase.
its more than just the battery cover.
The white 4G as far as I can tell has 2 different pieces from the original black, consisting of the battery cover and the outer rear bezel. The rubberized matte sections essentially.
The battery cover is one piece, lower frame is second piece, just the shell though, transplanting the wiring, subframes, and kickstand should be relatively easy going by the teardown images on ifixit.
I wonder if you can get the battery cover and the rear half of the phone. The back half is what houses the camera lens as well as the kickstand, so having a replacement would be nice.
I wouldn't mind another battery cover if anyone finds how where to get them. I'm sure Sprint repair stores will eventually get them in, but no idea how long that is going to take.
One to mess up, perhaps put a logo on, or the disc from those low profile car mounts, would be nice to have. They're quick and easy to pop on/off too, and it's only a matter of time before that wears out given that I replace my batteries rather than recharge them in my phone.
Edit:
I emailed HTC, lets see if they respond..
I got a response, here it is:
Thank you for contacting HTC! While HTC is proud to offer the original accessories that come standard with our extensive line-up of mobile devices we unfortunately do not have the part you are looking for. We do apologize for any inconvenience however we can direct you to two non-HTC affiliated websites that may have your desired accessory. Try browsing www.boxwave.com or www.daydeal.com. We hope your search is successful. Sincerely, HTC Customer Care

Response back to HTC for dumping me off to an accessory vendor:
I have visited the suggested websites (daydeal.com and boxwave.com) neither of which sells manufacturer OEM Parts for the EVO. I am not looking for an accessory, nor an after market part. I just want the exact same OEM Part that came with my EVO phone, the battery cover. Part number 71H03150-XXM. If HTC does not sell to consumers, is there anyone that HTC sells to that I may be able to purchase this part from?
Thank you!

That is only if you purchased your phone at BestBuy and did not purchase on launch day (it's now past the 30 days.) It's not due out at Sprint stores until mid to late August. BestBuy has the exclusive until then.
Another update from HTC. So they aren't available right now, but might be in the future it seems:
Thank you for contacting HTC! At this time I am not aware of anybody who carries the OEM back cover for this. We should be supporting this soon, however I do not have an exact date that the accessories will be available. Sincerely, HTC Customer Care

Found them on ebay listed as "OEM Housing"... Might order one or two and try to see how they hold up being sanded and repainted.
I found an OEM battery cover on ebay, but they want $30 for it. A little steep in my opinion.
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Authentic-O...ultDomain_0&hash=item27b3386a12#ht_500wt_1154
I also found the OEM back chassis and battery cover.
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-EVO-4G-OEM-...ccessories&hash=item255bc105c4#ht_1705wt_1137
Doesn't look like it includes a new lens cover, so the lens cover may be built into the camera. That means no replacing it.
In the second listing they illustrate that it's from Samsung, so they are the actual OEM and HTC purchased the parts/phone from them. I wonder if we'll have better luck purchasing from Samsung or an authorized reseller..

Close but the branding is different. No HTC on the back cover and it says "with Google" instead of "Sprint 4G" near the bottom.
No big deal I just wonder if these are real OEM parts or if they are about to get ripped for copyright infringement...

Yeah, the first one says it's OEM and from Samsung, the second just says that it's "HTC EVO Compatible" so it's not OEM, and probably a knockoff. Especially since he's in China. We should start seeing them cheaper soon then.

Notably, I've found a few wholesale retailers for back housings that have the HTC logo on it but no chrome badging, this is perfectly flat however which means to me, an easier painting process.
Personally I don't care
I just dropped my brand new EVO today, ON THE CONCRETE!!!!!!!!
Well, the only portion that took damage externally, to my knowledge in other words, is the front bevel. I really do not like the blemishes so I went ahead and paid for the $55 set. There was a cheaper $40 option but I didn't see that till after purchasing the $55 set. If everything is legit, considering not just getting the parts I want to replace but also some of the tools needed to do the job, $55 was ok with me.
I'll keep you guys updated. Should be here next week or two. We'll see.

[Q] Replacement Screen!

Yo guys, Had a bad day today.... Broke the screen on my phone. Does anyone know where to get replacement screen's from now a day's? Preferably not Ebay as i hate it but If that's the only place i guess i must. Now I have checked ebay but the ammount of Galaxy Nexus S Screen's that are on there it didn't seam like anyone would have any replacement screen's... could be wrong though! Any help appreciated

ill admit that this is the first phone ive had that i DID insure !
What happened? ... How is broke?
I was wondering how long it would be before someone killed one. I very much doubt you'll have any luck sourcing a screen for one this soon after it's release, your only choice might be to contact Samsung regarding repair I'm afraid.
Haha, yep I broke the screen. Well I've cracked it any whoo. Still working perfectly fine . I dropped it yesterday when I was walking to work. Landed right on a curb....
Yeah I didn't insure it, never dropped the previous phones I've had, this ones a slippery bugger though.
I didn't think there'd be screens out yet, I'll keep my eyes posted for some. Anyone know any decent sites to check?

There wont be any replacement screens out for quite a while im afraid, maybe 6 months or more as this is such a new phone and all available stock will be going to make the phone itself or held by samsung for repairs. As mentioned before your only option if you want it fixed is to send it back to samsung for repair or claim under your contents insurance if you have accidental cover.
Mark.

do you have accidental damage on your home insurance? might be worth checking if they will cover you that way. All my gadgets are covered this way, whether inside or outside the house.
God know's ha, I'm currently living at my mother's so no idea if she has or not! Ahhh well, as i said i didn't expect there to be any screens. I can still use the phone, and at the moment can't be arsed with the hassil of ringing all these place's to check if they will replace it. Thanks anyway's guys, Got a perspective from it if anything .
Did you pay for it with a credit card? You may be covered for accidental damage eg barclaycard:
Purchase protection
Buy eligible goods worth over £50 with a Visa or MasterCard credit card and they will be protected against accidental damage, loss or theft for the first 90 days, subject to an excess of £50. If any of these occur in that period, you should notify us within 45 days of the incident, and the police within 36 hours. You're covered for:

You might want to look into a warranty like square trade. I was looking at insurance options myself and square trade seems to be the best. They allow you to buy insurance for a phone that is up to 30 days old. It might not be the most ethical thing to do to buy it for an already broken phone but they wouldn't offer that service if it wasn't profitable for them.
The plan is not cheap, and there is a deductible for replacement but it beats having a broken phone for 2 years.

I am shocked . 500 quid phone barely a couple of weeks old and you can't be arsed to get it fixed? I would have literally in tears!
i saw on eBay it has already full housing.
The only parts site I know of is cnn.cn.
It doesn't look like they have anything for this phone right now though.
Well it isn't that bad. I can still use the phone perfectly and only notice the cracks when the screen is off. I can't get hold of a screen and am not dealing with insurance company a cause I feel them to be a majour pain in the arse. No point in getting worked up over something I can't change . I'll buy a screen when I find one online. Thanks for all your options though

I'll be going to china on december 7-8 and 14-16, i'll check it out for you, i'll look on the 7, and let you know, and if the price is ok, you can paypal me and i'll buy it on the dec 14, at present i'm searching for white nexus s battery cover for members in this forum.
dont expect the screen to be cheap, i remember the nexus s screen cost approximate USD 120 when the phone was first released.
I have had my Galaxy Nexus for 5 days, and have also cracked the screen.
Problem is I have no idea how it happened. Phone was fine this morning when I set out for work and put it in my trouser pockets. But when i got to work and went to use it there was a huge crack across the screen, about at the point where the curve starts.
So i thought i would try my luck and see if I could get it replaced under warranty, as i had not dropped it or damaged it in any other way, so felt it was a manufacturing defect. Unfortunately I had no luck. As far a Phones4u (Where ig got it from) are concerned a cracked screen is accidental damage, so i will have to pay to get it repaired.
Then they quoted me a cost of £40-£70 for the repair, with the final cost inside that range depending on the amount of damage they had to fix. Now if the fix comes in under £70 i will be extremely happy. When i broke a Galaxy S screen it was £70 for the part alone, so under £70 for the part and fix looks like a good deal, so i accepted thinking i would get nowhere with my warranty argument.
I am waiting for the catch as currently it sounds too good to be true, as i was expecting something closer to £200. I will let you all know how it goes.
Pics or it didn't happen
telepathically sent with my Galaxy Nexus which is being imprisoned by FedEx
pics
same thing happened to me, dropped from 2 feet onto linoleum.
still very usable, only somewhat annoying. guess i will wait a few months for replacements to appear. in the meantime i am ordering a case. also just want to say i have never dropped and broken a phone in my life before this.

Honestly I just went.to samsung. I also had them install it because I am lazy and also I had an issue with the speaker and headphone jack. They charged me 200$ to completely refurbish the phone. It only took about a week and a half they overnighter the phone back because I told them my old one was about to die. Also if you go that route make sure that you don't send the spen in because the consider it an accessory and they sent it back without the dam thing and I am still waiting for them to send it back.

I'm on the east coast so it's already new year here happy new year too you too. Before I sent it in I odined back to stock are reset the flash counter because they wouldn't do anything with it warenty or not or at least that's the impression I got. It was still in warenty but they said that abuse ie screen damage was not covered. I contacted them through fb. Samsung repair I think it is. You can also tweet them or email, call or chat live on the Samsung website. They were pretty easy to deal with through facebook.

Yes same with me. I shattered my screen was looking for the cheapest option. Oem screens on ebay were going for $200+ I contacted Samsung and they were gonna charge $176 and some change for everything after taxes. Also, I dropped my phone the second day I got it before my case arrived and the edge of my phone (I guess the bezel area) was damaged/scratched and they replaced that for me no charge. All in all very good experience and it took less that a business week to get my phone back. Also, my phone was rooted when I sent it in and I received it with root access removed (total factory reset).

Spare parts

With my note 8 still running about fine, no direct successor in sight and the software (pa) still acceptable I was thinking of giving my Note a little check up. After 3 years of daily usage and carrying it around in my bag, there only seem to be two issues with it. 1. The battery lost a bit of its stamina 2. There are several cracks in the back cover (3. Also a few cracks in the silver bezel but I assume that's harder to replace) .
So my question is if anybody has replaced these parts and can guide me to a good shop or a specific brand. Since I need to replace the back cover anyway, I thought maybe there is even an Extended Battery*option
Combo for the note around somewhere (sth like this).
I found a few batteries on the Web but had bad experiences with no name batteries and couldn't find a shop that sells the back cover...

I bought my battery for my Note 8 when I first got it. I purchased the battery from Amazon. Here's the one I bought and I mostly play games on it. It's not bad battery wise overall, I still have the original one. Taking the back cover off isn't hard but this specific battery came with the tools to replace it which helped tremendously since the screws are super small

Battery replacement make a difference?

I bought my Pixel XL last year used and its been a great phone but lately the battery life has become ridiculously bad. I'm guessing it has to do with the battery age, which is understandable. I have a quote to replace the battery for about $100 and was wondering if anyone saw any drastic difference in replacing their battery? I'm really on the fence about whether its worth replacing it or just getting a new phone. Unfortunately the Swappa seller sold me what looks to be a Verizon version even though they said it was unlocked as I cant unlock the bootloader. This is weighing on me as I kept my oneplus one for 4 years because I was able to flash custom roms. I'm worried about this being a dead phone update wise but figure if I can get the battery replacement now it would probably give me another year of use.
I replaced the battery myself, but mine is an unlocked variant and doing the work myself means I spent 20€ instead of 100.
Your situation is a bit tougher, but the difference in battery life is surely worth it. I can go a full day easily now with more than 4 hours SOT and I don't even have the XL!
Hmmm, $100, at that price I'd rather do it myself or move to another phone. However, if you did replace it, the jump in battery performance would be noticeable.
If your in the US, I'd get the battery off ebay. I just did this replacement on my Pixel XL and it has given it new life. It was dying anywhere from as soon as I took it off the charger to about 40%. It wasn't that bad before but gradually has gotten worse until I said fk it it's time to get a new phone or replace the battery. I spent about 20 bucks total, this included roughly $13 for the battery and $7 for the precut screen adhesive which in my opinion is worth it to give it a OEM like seal. All the Chinese replacement batteries that include adhesive is only for the battery not the screen so it's basically pointless because most of not all of the time the adhesive below the battery will still be in great condition so it doesn't need to be touched. All this crap about replacing the battery is hard is BS. Just watch a few of the YT videos guides a few times and give it a go. I would not use a razor blade to start to lift the screen initially unless you are very confident you won't scuff the metal around it. I scuffed my a little but it wasn't really noticable. If use playing cards after you hear the screen with a hair dryer or heat gun. This will take you a roughly 1 hr to do yourself. You can Pm me if you need more help with installing. This has saved me a lot because I was debating the OP7 pro or new battery. I'm lucky enough to be able to hold off for the next gen pixel or OP8 for now.
