Note 7 promotion - fast ass micro sd card - Note 7 Questions & Answers

I just received mine. Holy ****, it's pretty fast.
It's this one:
http://www.samsung.com/us/computing...vo-256gb-memory-card-w-adapter-mb-mc256da-am/
95/90 MBps read/write speed.
Is that what you guys got?

Did you benchmark it? I have a Lexar Class 10 128GB card I paid $39 for. It's listed for 95mbps when I benchmarked it I got 56 read & 18 write.
For the cost compared to what Samsung says the 256gb card is work, the $39 card any my Fit Gear 2 work fine.

Here are the benchmarks:
http://www.storagereview.com/samsung_evo_plus_256gb_microsd_memory_card_review
How do they compare to your Lexar?
P.S. I haven't opened the packaging yet. It looks so pretty inside the pretty packaging. And I'm still thinking about what I'm gonna fill it with. I only have 112GB of favorite movie collection and a few gigs of music - don't know what to put on it.

I bet the benchmark varies by phone. Open it and check it out. I used A1 SD Bench to check it.

In my laptop 100, in my note 7 around 80
30 is terrible.
Your read speeds probably wouldn't even match my write speeds with this lexar card.
As i said love the storage capacity hate the slow speeds.
Cant wait until we can get a 256gb version with better write speeds

I read somewhere its the fastest microsd for its size in the world and supposedly its the little brother to the new micro cards being made by samsung
http://www.pcworld.com/article/3092...orage-cards-could-replace-micro-sd-media.html
There was a rumor that the sd card readers in the note 7 were supposed to be compatible with these but that it didnt make the final schematics.
BTW I love your dont tread on me pic, its hillarious and awesome.

Just benched it in my Note7. 73 read, 63 write. That's with the same Lexar you have.

Didn't think it would work Because it was for a s7 promotion on the link ; but i input all my info and everything checked out with my note 7 purchase
It asked if i wanted a 256 micro sd card or a gear VR..
I opted for the gear vr of course (yes , i know the micro sd cost more) I asked my self do i really need over 300 GB of space ? I said na , Il opt for a gear VR .. i have the first model for my s6 and it was amazing minus the pix quality but the whole 360 vr experience is something to experience..

from the oculus home, or you can find some from oculus rift videos online thats compatible. I download everything because streaming sucks

For my recalled Note 7 purchased August 19, I opted for the 256 Micro SD card. Then when I returned My Note7 and purchased the "New Note 7 with out the battery issues I opted for the Gear VR. So Now will have the Gear VR with the Storage space to save Games and Video. I also have 2 of every accessories that the phone came with becase all they wanted was the phone, so I was able to keep the original accesories and the new accessories that came with the new phone. I also kept the s-Pen so I have a back for that! All in all, for all the headaches with the recall, I think I came out O'tay!

What brand Class 6 SD card?

What brand of Class 6 SD card should I buy? I see TOPRAM, Transcend, and Nokia but not popular ones like Kingston and Sandisk..
According to this it says Class 2 SD cards might as well be as good as Class 6.
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1468705.html
Class 2's performance-price ratio might be higher than Class 6. But only considering performance, I prefer Class 6.
I have a transcend Class 6, 8gb I got for $20 online and it works perfect.
Class 6...meh...you need 16gb Kingston Class 10. That is if your device can handle it.

Consider that the Sandisk cards may have a longer lifespan and be more reliable, which is a major plus point if you're going to be using the camera to take pictures of sentimental value.

Anyways, I haven't read all that great of reviews on the kingston class 10's. And for 100.00, I can get 2 of the adata class 6 16gb. I think I will pick 1 of those up next time newegg has them instock.
The 16gb sandisk class 2 that comes in the hd2 can drag the phone down if you don't format it once in a while.

32 GB Class 4 $55.00 from Amazon itself

If you're looking for a decently priced 32GB class 4 Microsd card backed by one of the biggest and most respected retailers in the world, you can do much worse than this:
http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-Class-microSDHC-Memory-TS32GUSDHC4/dp/B004R7P28W/ref=pd_cp_e_1
This is sold by Amazon... not "fulfilled by Amazon" but actually sold by them. So $55.00 buys you the peace of mind of knowing that if there's anything wrong with the card, you can always get your money back. Plus, this is about as cheap as I, personally, have seen legitimate 32GB cards sold for.
Also, buy with Amazon's Super Saver shipping and shipping is free (does take a bit longer, though.)
In any case, this is probably what I'll do when I get around to upgrading my 16GB card for a 32.

The higher the number, the faster the write speed. Class 10 is the fastest I have seen in a 32GB MicroSD card. Here is a link on the class differences:

I ordered mine last night and can't wait for it to get here!
I bought a Patriot 32gb Class 4 for $39 + 1.99 shipping from Frys.com. It was a weekend only sale and I ordered mine like 30 minutes prior to the sale ending that Sunday night (so I didn't have time to mass post the deal here). I've since received it and it works great. I'm using it in my Acer Iconia A500 tablet instead of my Evo though. You'd think that watching hi-res movies on the larger screen of the A500 would put the read speed of this Class 4 card to the test, but the whole experience has been flawless.
If you're in the market for a 32gb card, I'd keep an eye on the usual websites (Amazon, Buy.com, Newegg, Frys, etc.) because they Class 4 cards are starting to get rather affordable. The Class 10 cards are still a bit too pricey for my wallet.

My understanding is that the read speed on most of these cards is going to be fine. It's the write speed that varies most and which is dependent on the Class rating of the card. I've got a 16GB class 2 card in my Nook Color and there's no lag watching movies.

The read speed varies significantly between the card classes as well. The big question is whether or not the hardware (which typically trails behind the media) can take advantage of a card with faster access/read times. I haven't found a utility that can speed test the external SD card in my Tegra2 based Acer A500 tablet, but in a thread on another Android forum, the Evo hardware was shown to take advantage of the significantly faster read times in Class 6 & 10 cards.
All that being said, how fast a read time does anyone really need? I've never felt the need to date to go faster than Class 4 card in any of my devices, for both read and even write times.

I wouldn't mind faster write times on my Nook Color if only to be able to copy movies on and off faster (on my current card it takes between 3 and 5 minutes per 1.5 GB title.) Other than that, yeah... not much reason. I've made lots of videos on my Evo and never noiticed any issues with write speed on my Class 4 card.

I've got a class 10 16GB card in my evo. AND I CORRECTLY did speed tests through my computer and through the phone. and with the class then, there was a huge improvement on speeds even while it was installed in the evo. Professionally speaking.. I think they should install class 10 in all mobile phones. :-D it will only go as fast as its slowest connection.

microSDXC UHS-I - should you get one?

Just saw the new microsd cards rated at class 10 with UHS-1. I know these have been out for just a bit but how many people are actually using these cards? Any success stories or most noticable differences that outway the cost?
"Get faster app performance and advanced photo and video capture for Android™ powered or other smartphones and tablets with SanDisk's Ultra 64GB microSDXC UHS-I Card. With speeds up to 30MB/s and highest available Class 10 speed rating and UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) for recording uninterrupted Full HD video, it's the perfect choice to store your mobile life."
UHS-I is the fastest category of card available today with a bus interface speed of up to 104 MB/s.
Anyone rockin' these?
I've had a UHS-1 64GB microSDXC since it was publicly available. I have a hard-on for extra storage and it's great - It's extremely fast when transferring files and because of exFAT, I can store 1080p 5GB+ movies on it. It's pretty amazing. I do a lot of movie/tv watching with MHL and just on my phone and it works very well. I'm almost full though...
Related story: I have a friend who works at SanDisk who was able to snag one of their prototype 2TB microSDXC's for $1,500. Sadly, they won't be available for consumer purchase for a few years but it still works on his International SGS3. I'll ask him for pictures of the card and a screenshot of the storage space next time I can contact him and put them up in a new thread here.

I never asked him about the read/write speeds of it. All he showed me when he came to my house was that he had the card (it was unlabeled except for texting saying 'SANDISK' and 'A-053' under it) and when he put it in the phone, it said 1996.4GB available in settings>storage. I think if I can ask him to take a video and send it to me and then I secretly upload it to youtube, I'll get a lot of views.

So sad :crying:.. I'll keep dreaming. That brings me to the question of how the heck do you do that? I want to freak out my coworkers ahahah.
Edit: Googled it, could be up to 300mbps, not 30. Also, it should be noted, that was from an article from 2009 that also said that they were, "coming soon." lol.
I believe the current speeds on the 2TB cards are 30mbps data transfer. I just wonder what the price is going to be when they're introduced to the general public. I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to pay...
Look at it this way: If, in a year or two, a 2TB microSD and the PS4 is released, and they're the same price...
I'll be playing my PS4.

Micro SdCard Classes

It may seem like a simple question, but does the class of the card make that much difference?
Coming from where the wind begins......
Yes it does. It primarily affects how fast can you read or write to the card.

Technically yes, for every day use. There are also uhs or a U classification I believe that does well beyond class 10. I've seen upwards of 90+ Mbps or sui they claim. I bought a 50 for a dedicated digital camera recently but I haven't tested it.

If it's from ebay, my bet would be its a knockoff for that price. Post up some read write speeds, if there legit I'll be 3 for that price!

What are you ready to bet ?
Tell me how to do the write/read speed test and I'll post it. But for how it works for me, it is not a defective unit nor a copy. Files transfer operates flawlessly, recording videos and taking pictures works like a charm. Mounting a 1go iso file in ppsspp is instant loading, no delay or lag.
I got it from Ebay France (usually run through fr, UK and DE) by auction. Brand new and sealed. That's why I was saying that I don't know if Amazon was making a good deal or not.
To let you imagine, I paid 100 euros for an Optoma Hd700 worth +-700€ back then, and whenever I search something I get my hands on bargains almost every time. Getting a Micro SDXC UHS class 10 for 15$ is like daily route

I use ebay all the time but for easily replica table things I stay away. I bought my canon t4i an tons of other goodies on there
The problem with knockoff sd cards is they work but not at high functioning speeds. I run my micro sd's in my go pro all the time, the fakes can't handle the speed an they cut out at higher resolutions and frame rates. Same goes with the dslr, I can't shoot high speed shots consistently. That's why genuinely are important
Download sd tools on the App Store, that should tell you.

Damn I'm so red right now, my R/W speed is stuck at 20Mo/s max, you're right I got a fake luckily I didn't pay more for this, I would be mad! I just checked and it says Taiwan, I will contact the seller to tell him what I think.
Gotta search another one now, a true one! I want my 70/40 R/W speed!

Yup, it happens all the time.
I ordered this one, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E1XI5ZO/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got for less on the sale yesterday but still worth it, even at that price. It all depends on what you use it for. Like I said, I need cards that read fast. If you just using it to store data then write speed isn't that big of deal unless it's under 15 a second (hd playback will have a tough time).
