So much for ROOT - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

I upgraded from an lg g3 vigor about a year ago and one I upgraded the vigor finally got true root. I thought going to a flagship device would be a great thing to do as everyone has it and getting root on the device would be fast...clearly I was wrong. After having this gm928a for a year there's still is no true root, no roms to try everyday no kernels to try everyday. It seems all the possible devs for this phone have just given up. It's sad but I guess next time before I upgrade I'll just make sure the phone has true root before doing so [emoji26]

How is LG with the dev community?

I am looking to upgrade to the Sprint LG G2, and the deciding factor is how LG handles the root/ROM community. My current phone is the OG Photon, which Motorola permalocked the bootloader, then canceled ICS. Even unlocked, Motorola had terrible driver support, where camcorders, 4G and more would break on custom ROMs. Being on Gingerbread yet sucks, as such I refuse to buy a phone that can't be unlocked(T-Mobile has horrible coverage in my area, or I'd have bought a Nexus 4 long ago). So I'd like to see the opinions of the OG, to see how support is, and to see how easy it is to unlock. I understand how stock Android functions, but I have a Nexus 10. I'm used to 'fastboot oem unlock' and pure AOSP support/factory images and such haha. Does LG release the stock ROMs or bootloaders or anything? Does LG even use stock fastboot? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to not get burned again(Motorola.....).

I actually looked here to make sure there was development for this phone before I purchased it, Optimus G running Vectus rom makes me smile each time I pick up my phone.
Its growing by the day! I just got this phone 1 month ago and there was an alright amount of ROMs. but now in the past month there was over 6 new ROMs!! Were getting up there.

I came from the DROID RAZR, and this phone feels like a beast compared to that. Granted, Verizons network was better but I left them on principal. I haven't rooted yet, but I will in 10 more days (return period). I don't believe I will flash a custom ROM right off the bat though because the stock ROM is plenty smooth and does what it's supposed to. That's so not like Motoblur. It was almost necessary to root and flash in order to have a decent user experience on the Motorola phones (I've had 3). I'm pleasantly surprised by this phone and its stock ROM though. If you pick this phone it won't be a mistake.

+1, I have had my phone about 2 months and since then it has gone from a handful of ROMs to 10+, I was even inspired to make my own ROM.
Soon its going to be like the s3 thread.

Lots of development going on! It really is sweet. When I first got here, there were only a few different choices. I had a ton of trouble getting my first builds together(and still do ), but the devs and users here were very knowledgible and helpful. It is one of the best forums I have had the pleasure of being a part of! And we're still rolling out more!.....

Don't play with my heart like that man, lol. I know for a fact that we'll get 4.3 eventually, as well as maybe an official LG update to..... Whatever it is that they're planning on shipping the G2 with (4.2.1 or 4.2.2?). We have a flagship phone with some high end specs. If we don't get an official update for our phones from LG, it'll be because of just outright neglect.
That's what AOSP is for though, I guess.

Verizon HTC One S-Off Discussion Thread

Here is a place to discuss the current methods of S-Off.
We have Sonic2765's java card which will always work, and a promised method from beaups.
Sonic's Java Card will work on any device.
Sonic's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427960
Beaups method will work on any device even with the minor OTA that was released.
So, it seems safe to take the OTA, but I am not responsible if this is incorrect.
This is amazing! Was waiting for this since I didn't have another phone to use so I could send mine to Sonic. Also glad that beaups said that it WILL work with the latest OTA! Just glad for an exploit since my original One had to be exchanged...

That, sir, is great news. Cause I'm sick of getting reminded to update..
Any idea if he hopes to release sometime soon? Or after 4.3 is released?
More than likely after 4.3 would be my guess. We wouldn't want verizon to include a fix for the exploit with 4.3 causing a delay in the release. I don't know for sure, just my guess.

Yea, I think waiting would be a good idea.. AT&T certified their 4.3 recently and it's rolling out now.. hopefully VZW is not far behind. I need FREEDOM!!
Shame... VZ is supposed to release it at the very end of October. Personally, I would rather have it released now
I mean, if he just released it and we had a thread warning everyone wouldn't that be fine?
This is awesome news!

I agree, most of us will be running custom roms anyway, so there would be no reason really to ota, and also no reason why someone won't just make a safe flashable zip for us after ota is released... The only way the soff method would suck is if they patched it and people with replacement after the update, or just new phone owners wouldn't be able to do it, which is kinda a big deal...
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It just needs to be released now. Everyone knows or should know not to take an ota. Ones who takes it well they deserve to possibly be blocked from the exploit. Is he waiting because there maybe issues with his method? Seemed like in the past when an exploit was found it was released rather quickly. Waiting for 4.3 on Verizon will be waiting 6 months. They never released an update when they said they would.
Just give us the root method and collect your bounty

I don't know shall we wait until after 4.3? I suppose even if we wait nothing will stop Verizon from releasing a small ota even after the 4.3 release to patch the exploit. so waiting may not have much benefit ..

There will always be that problem with getting replacement phones but with Verizon we know how slow they are for getting updates out. I remember the method for rooting the bolt was the same for years until ics came out.

With the news of the root method found I am sure we will see many people who left the one come back and people considering the one but waiting for a root exploit will now buy the one.

It will be released when beaups feels that it is ready to be released. He is probably taking his time to make the process as safe as possible for as many people as possible. Just because he found a method doesn't necessarily mean that it is safe and easy to use in its current form. Be patient and be glad that it exists at all.

Thats a valid point, I just don't see benefit in waiting. but like nexus said, they could release a small patch right after 4.3 and we would have the same outcome. or they may find this exploit before we even release it and the will just patch it in 4.3 either way. But i would like to thank beaups for putting in the time and effort! I know this stuff isn't easy so thanks!
I wish he would make a thread so people could give him thanks and he could give us updates on the process.
I'm not waiting on any vzw updates. Just need to get everything done. It will be done "soon".

Verizon SM-T807V Root?

Hi I was just wondering about the Verizon version of this tablet SM-T807. I just got this one from VZW, and I've searched everywhere to try and understand what root methods are available and it's proving to be kind of confusing. I've rooted all my phone's for the past 4-5 yrs Droid, several Samsungs, LG..and have never had to ask a question on any of the threads here...I have plenty of experience using Odin, ADB...etc and alot of other tools. But everything I find seems to be for the 800, 805, or 807 for Sprint and ATT. The Verizon rep started the lollipop upgrade before I left the store, so I hadn't been able to try the unified tool or any other possible methods since I need to downgrade to KitKat to make it all alot easier. So I guess my question is, is there any method that may work for my tab now that's running 5.0.2, and if not is there an Odin-able image for the VZW variant to flash back to stock? I just keep reading conflicting info from different places and don't wanna brick it beyond repair. Thanks for any help.

That rep has just killed any chance you had of getting root.
There are no other root methods available for your device.
I don't think the Verizon tablet has root for KitKat either?
I started looking into this last night also since I'm considering Verizon as my next carrier.
That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the reply.

is there any root to date that works, i still have a 4.4.2 and i just got the tab today.
Im going to get forced into the update sometime in the next day or so now that the tablet downloded it.
I've spend 6 hours so far trying to root this.
No luck so far.

Just copy the update to another folder then disable any more future updates. Updates are not compulsory.
What have you used to root, there are several options for root.

Well when you come up with the bootloader unlocking method you'll be a hero.
I wish this could be downgraded to kitkat, the lollipop on t807v is causing problems with my touch screen and I have read a lot of comments from users facing a touchscreen problem after the upgrade. Lets pray its sooner !
Thanks
My t807v is freezing a lot too. I bought it on eBay and thought it was defective but it seems to be a widespread problem I'm going to try to take it to Verizon and ***** at them because mine freezes every 10 seconds or so. Makes it unusable.

It can't be rooted without a system exploit.
It took 2 years to exploit the verizon note 4, shouldnt be much longer on the 807V
Is there any update on this? Do we have a stock rom to downgrade to 5.5 available

Think about it. Every single us carrier (as far as I know) has a locked bootlaoder meaning you can't flash most custom roms. So far there isn't a way to unlock it. Only the Euro H815 can be unlocked. Also CM is in the works. So once that is fully working I'm sure we will see many roms. But overall it is early in the rooting/Rom building scene
screen skipping when using a Swype style keyboard it manifests itself in the same way as lifting your finger during swyping , if you go into the maintenance menu and do the screen test you get gaps while swiping the screen by all accounts these had finally been fixed in the euro update on the 31st of august, but 4 months is a long time for bugs which effect the basic functionality of the phone.

we're geting there OP. i think just last week they got x-posed working for g4.
i remmeber when phone came out, people where making threads thinking root would never come to the g4 cuz it was too hard, and too dangerous and this and that. But patients is key, just hang in there man, im waiting on some good roms too. but first we gotta get that bootloader unlocked

T-Mobile JUMP s-off

I'm getting tired of my g5 with no root

G5 has an unlockable bootloader (and thus root is possible if not out already.) In fact, the process is basically the same as the Nexus phones. The G4 and V10 were the same way.
OP, the devs over at the G5 T-Mobile subforum just achieved root+twrp last night. Take a look if you're still holding on to the phone.

Going back to S-ON is a bit trickier without a RUU. If anything is messed up, you brick the phone. I wouldn't set the secure flag just in case. T-Mobile takes Knox tripped phones and that's permanent so I don't see why they wouldn't take S-OFF which is not.
