What is AOSP?
AOSP is Android as Google publish without other modifications. More or less AOSP is the Nexus devices stock rom without gapps. Anyway to get a working system we ported some changes from Cyanogenmod and CodeAurora repos.
Please do not ask for features to be added because we're not going to add more to keep this ROM small, fast and pure.

ROM builds are hosted on RomHut
Installation
First time or clean install:
Download the ROM from the link above
Download GApps package for Marshmallow 6.0 (arm64)
Download ThemeReady GApps package for MM (arm64)
Put the zip files on your SDCard
Reboot in Recovery
Wipe Data / Factory Reset
Optional: convert to F2FS
Select "Install zip from SDCard"
Choose AOSP ROM zip file
Choose GApps zip file
Choose TBO GApps zip file (needed for complete theming of some Gapps with OMS overlays)
Flash
Reboot system
Update over an existing previous AOSP MM build (manual update with TWRP):
Download updated build from the link above
Put the zip files on your SDCard
Reboot in TWRP Recovery
Select "Install zip from SDCard"
Choose AOSP ROM zip file
Flash
Reboot system
NOTE: the "dirty" flash to update an existing version DO NOT NEED any new re-flash of Gapps and TBO... integrated BackupTool during rom install will backup your gapps (already installed) and restore them after rom update!
NOTE: Stable version is dex-preoptimized, so do not wipe cache and Dalvik after rom flash!
General notes
Rom is pre-rooted and has SuperSU v2.78 integrated
[*]Theming: rom has from this build the new SUBSTRATUM THEME ENGINE. Use the integrated Substratum app to apply OMS overlays (OverlaysManagerService). RRO layers will not work anymore...
[*]Theming: to apply OMS overlays to some apps, you need also to flash TBO GoogleApps-ThemeReady-arm64-LP-MM-N-v26.0.zip right after your Gapps package from recovery. This means to be clear: ROM + GAPPS + TBO

GENERAL INFORMATION ON THIS ROM
This project on AOSP code has started long time ago on our Team. Our main focus was S4 world with unified builds for most variants of GT-I9505 International phone.
Our code is open source and is located on our github's... one of them is for Aosp code.
Now is natural that members are moving to other phone models, and me and - +BB+- has pointed the Mi5.
Our code has been used for this build too, so this is why we released a STABLE version.
In our list is present the step to Aosp Nougat (already build in alpha version for S4 gsm phones)... need a bit of time and you will have here too... but before go ahead, let's fix MM code!!

Yes, that's why I am so excited. You make the best Rom for i9505 and now, somehow, after I sold my old phone and I bought a Mi5, you made a Rom for Mi5.
I am really happy cause I know that you will do an excelent job here, so thank you.

Exciting to see everything that's happening now thanks to Brunos hard work!
Will definitely try this Rom, glad to hear two from your team use this beautiful phone!

Thank you so much.????

Hardware buttons are not functioning properly.
This has been a persistent issue even in the latest CM13 build, related to kernel.
Seems to be unique to LGD panel specific devices.

RRO is just like the cm 12 theme engine..
But it doesn't support cm 12 themes.
It supports only themes layers theme.
Overall it is theme engine.

Hello,
You guys are bit curious to know about what RRO is.
Layers is basically an app that lets you mainly theme your device by using the internal code in Lollipop (RRO). It utilizes the code very well so you can theme individual apps too with it.
Visit this Community - BitSyko Development
Credits - @koradiavatsal for the nice information
Hope you get your answer.
Thank You
TechExhibeo
well I hope BitSyko layer themes will be supported fully..coz he kinda modified sony's RRO themeing technique.. so his is more advanced according to his explanation.. so is it his implemented in this rom? just curious to know before downloading the rom..

What's AOSP ?
AOSP is Android as Google publish without other modifications. More or less AOSP is the Nexus devices stock rom without gapps.
We added few non-AOSP features for a better user experience and we NOT going to add something other.
What's CodeAurora Forums ?
Code Aurora Forum (CAF) is a consortium of companies with projects serving the mobile wireless industry. Software projects it concerns itself with are e.g. Android for MSM, Femto Linux Project, LLVM, MSM WLAN and Linux-MSM. Code Aurora is basically AOSP plus all Qualcomm specific enhancements and optimization.
Few basic additions on top of AOSP-CAF :
AOSP Messaging app
Bluetooth "Accept All Files" Feature
"Silent" and "Airplane Mode" in Power Menu
Marshamllow Bootanimation
Custom Hardware Keys binding
Reintroduce button-backlight

It is smooth (not joking, it can be felt) and battery backup is quiet good so far,

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit.

(see also second post for info on recurring questions)
Compatibility:
Compatible with all Xiaomi Mi 5 variants (32GB / 64GB / 128GB) only. Xiaomi Mi 5S and 5S Plus are not supported.
Builds are based off the Xiaomi's Android 6.0.1 firmware with proprietary blobs from MIUI 6.9.29 dev package.

Notice:
No custom kernels are supported in this thread. Only CM kernel and official builds will be supported. No bug reports if that's not the case.
Installation:
Reboot to recovery (TWRP recovery for Mi 5 - Direct link)
Wipe /system, /data and /cache
Install CM package
Install [optional] a Google Apps package of your choice (Open Gapps is advisable, but stock and super variants are not recommended!!!)
Important note: Gapps can only be flashed on clean installs.
Credits & collaborations:
This work is due to efforts from Mi5Devs founding members (@h2o64 and me) that did the full device bring-up. Huge thanks to @deovferreira for all the help during the kernel bring-up after source code dropped.
Thanks also to @shade.sh for publishing early beta builds.
Finally, all CyanogenMod team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!

Some notes due to recurring questions:
Using fingerprint as home button is not implemented, so please don't report it as a bug.
So, this is the one and only place I will follow to provide the support of CM for Mi 5.
To clarify, this thread was just created because today marks the day when Xiaomi released the kernel source code for Mi 5.
Finally the official Repo Builder!
Thanks for the bring up
I was trying to donate to you, but PayPal gives me error. I will try later. By the way thanks, really thanks.

Guys .. What's the differences between this build and the previous build which is based on CM tree?!
Note, we hope to see from you port/different ROM soon.
Thanks.
@droid.riz Thanks for holding our hands up until this moment. Mi5 wouldn't have been as smooth an experience if not for you. Except for crappy speeds by BSNL, which you're not responsible for anyway... Cheers!

You mentioned the wrong person.
No no.
@bgcngm You're the one who's holding the entire fort together. Maintaining the device tree AND building TWRP for a closed kernel device? Kudos to you, man. I was just glad that the RR ROM helped bridge the gap between buying the device and having official custom ROMs. Because there was no way in hell I'd have stayed with the Chinese MIUI. (Shudders)

RR ROM would never be a possibility if it wasn't Mi5Devs, I hope you know that. Case closed. This is CM support thread and nothing else.
@bgcngm Absolutely. There's no custom ROM without the device tree. :good:
Hey man, sorry if I offended you...
This is a great day bgcngm, thank you again.

I would say yes, until builds start to come out from CM build servers. In other words, it is unofficial until it becomes official.
@bgcngm See my question about kernel sources and overclocking was not that dumb as it turned out ^^
Anyway huge thanks to bgcngm and shade for making this device even better than it hopefully will be (yes I informed me about costum roms before i bought the phone ).

What is AOSP?
AOSP is Android as Google publish without other modifications. More or less AOSP is the Nexus devices stock rom without gapps. Anyway to get a working system we ported some changes from Cyanogenmod/LineageOS and CodeAurora repos.
Please do not ask for features to be added because we're not going to add more to keep this ROM small, fast and pure.

I wasn't even sure whether I would release this rom.
I have been building it on the quiet for the last 4 or so months and it has been tested by a few of my RR test team over that period.
Pretty quickly I realised it was of full release quality after a few of the RR testers defected and refused to return...
it really is as good as the other main Oreo roms on S4 - Side's OptLos and my Resurrection Remix.
It is a "full featured" rom like RR but perhaps a little lighter, which can only be a good thing.
S4 features:
Buffcore kernel - 2.17
Substratum can be used with the integrated theme engine.
Root is not integrated. Latest Magisk beta is recommended.
Spectrum profile switching support
JDC aroma addon support
Latest security and Oreo updates until 10th September 2018
Viper4magisk and other Magisk hosted sound mods work.
This will be the only version you get. It's Alpha, beta and final all rolled into one.
But trust us on this one. Don't ask for screenshots. Don't ask if it's viable as a daily driver.
Don't ask about dirty flashing, you will never get an update.
It is unofficial release because it's not built by AICP team but dont worry about that, you know you can trust JDCTeam.
Do not ask AICP team for support.
All outstanding issues in RR#6 / OptLos#6 will apply here (BT calling mainly).
For further help and support look at my first few posts in my RR thread, that all applies here too.

Not sure; searching for ""suspend_backoff" wakelock" shows quite a few possibles - chrome, wifi /BT scanning, greenify, dhcp requests from router.
It seems to be a more general warning that suspend gets broken by something, but doesn't really help in tracking it down.
Printing broken suspends to dmesg.log - you can check the dmesg.log file to see what is waking your device from suspend. Using SYSLOG, grep the dmesg for "active wakeup source" to see if you get any reports. Alarmtimer here is OK, other WLs are worth checking, then possibly adding to the blocked WL list if deemed safe.
Wakelock blocker : the following WLs are blocked by default -
Code:
qcom_rx_wakelock; wlan; wlan_wow_wl; wlan_extscan_wl; netmgr_wl;
NETLINK; IPA_WS; [timerfd]; wlan_ipa; wlan_pno_wl; wcnss_filter_lock;
_rx_wake; wlan_ctrl_wake; wlan_wake; qbt_wake_source
you can also ADD more yourself if needed to the following user file in ROOT
/sys/class/misc/boeffla_wakelock_blocker/wakelock_blockerThis will be a list delimited by ; semicolon and no-spaces. WLs should be exact case you find them.
So an example addon file would be
Code:
mmc2_detect;PowerManagerServiceWakelocks;msm_hsic_host
The wakelock blocker may give absolutely no difference to your battery life in suspend - It will only help if your issues are wakelock based. Monitor the log file for any broken suspends for a few nights, look them up in google to see what they are (some wakelocks are not safe to remove) then try adding any identified wakelocks to the user file.
Click to collapse
Another thought I had is that possibly a change made in the kernel for release 6 RR / this AICP version to help suspends may make things worse in certain circumstances - try reverting to the kernel from V5 RR / OptLos as a last resort.
