OP3 Official update installation - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

So I'm running OOS 3.2.6. which is rooted. In the software update it shows 3.2.7 (1.3GB) available for download but it also says "Root detected, downloading full upgrade. Note: your device will be unrooted." So if i download and install this will it work ? Also, whats the best way to install official updates on a rooted OOS ?

You need clean install of oxygen before you can update regardless, just have to reflash su again afterwards and any kernels xposed you use.

You can easily install it, but after the download su will be removed, so you will have to reflash it.

I'd recommend flashing stock recovery before downloading the OTA update as twrp "sometimes" fail to flash OTA updates. Also flashing the 1.3 gb full update will remove your root. You'll have to flash supersu again for root. And you'll have to do this everytime an OTA comes.
The best way to install official updates on rooted phone is to download the patch only file for 3.2.7 and flash it via twrp. The patch file will be around 40-50MB and it is available somewhere in the XDA threads. Search for it.

Best way is to download OTA update from oneplus forum instead of complete ROM and just flash update

I did try that for the 3.2.7 update. Dirty flashed the OTA patch but it didn't seem to work. It's still 3.2.6

Wipe the system partition. Flash the 3.2.6 full update + ota patch together.

I played around with cm had but decides to go back to stock. I installed with twrp and then got a update notice. I downloaded and trwp tried to install but fail. Use toolkit to load original recovery and downloaded uodate, not it says updating and then says recovery fail. And when phone boots up it ask to downloaded update. Any help would be appreciated

If you are rooted. systemless or not, with or without xposed, the update will fail. Download the full rom from the mirror here and sideload it or flash it in twrp

With what error code? And what size was the zip you flashed?

the file size is 1.2 gigs from oneplus.net. There is no error code on TWRP and on the stock recovery it shows no errors just says Update fail

Hmm, I've not run into that issue. An error 7 in twrp usually means the system partition is modified (e.g root, hence my previous suggestion) but that doesn't effect the full 1+ gb zip as it's not an OTA but rather the full rom. Try contacting oneplus support
Use TWRP, and install the full OxygenOS 3.2.2 zip (do not try to use the OTA update - that won't work and also do not install the OTA update version), and wipe cache and dalvik, then reboot

Download and flash the full 3.2.4 rom, supersu and xposed. Your xposed modules/settings should still be there.
You may loose custom recovery. In this case you'll have to re flash it. Then flash su and Xposed.
if OOS notices you're rooted it'll automatically download the full zip to flash (1.3gb) and when you flash it you'll lose xposed and root but you just need to reflash those zips to get them back. The OTA will flash fine in twrp w/o replacing twrp.
If you want to use the incremental zips in the future then before you flash anything. Take a boot, system image, and EFS backup in TWRP (system IMAGE is important and you need official OP3 twrp to do it.) After you have that backup then flash to your heart's content. When an update rolls around grab the incremental zip from that thread here on XDA. Restore your backup and then flash the update, take a new backup for the next update and flash all your things again.
I have never rooted my OP3 and got this update. I'm now getting this after this update:

Manual update from rooted OOS 4.0.2 to 4.0.3

Hi,
I've downloaded the 4.0.3 OTA update from here and put it on my /storage/emulated/0 folder, as you can see.
I wonder if it's possible to update from 4.0.2 to this 4.0.3 with this "Local upgrade" feature, instead of rebooting Safe Mode, flash the zip, reinstall SuperSu, etc.

If you are totally stock (without root or any other mods), you can attempt that. But since you seem to be rooted, may be with TWRP etc, the update this way will not work.

Then download the full zip (about 1.47 GB) and flash it through TWRP. If you are in doubt, there are many guides here, so search for them.

I just flashed stock recovery and flashed the update and reinstall TWRP and SU. Didn't loose any data. :good:

Is there any way to force a system update?

I recently had to restore my phone to the flashable files in the dev section, and am on marshmallow. I wanted to get the nougat update from Koodo, and have been on the stock base for the better part of the day and checking for an update just tells me the system is up to date. Am I missing something? Do I need to do anything else?
download this file, it's the Nougat OTA. rename to update.zip and sideload it
Code:
http://motorola.erfanabdi.ir/?model=XT1635-02&sv=Blur_Version.24.231.19.addison.retail.en.US&carrier=tkpca
adb sideload update.zip

thanks for the link! but after trying to sideload it, I got denied, that it was unsuccessful.
when I enter my info to search for an update on that site, it shows nothing, I'm on Blur_Version.24.41.25.addison.retail.en.US. this software version shows no updates.
any way to manually install the updates separately rather then install it all through sideload?

It won't flash on any deodex ROM that you flashed , you need to manually flash the firmware to go back to stock MM and then try the ota.
To be honest, it's just easier for you to flash a stock Nougat ROM.
Less work, less chance of having issues flashing the firmware which could cause issues.
Never mind the security updates cause imo it's bs anyways.

That's what I tried, I flashed the stock mm from the dev section, I was on a completely stock ROM, recovery and all, and had no luck with an ota or side loading. Anyway, I tried, but I'm back on xperience now, I'll update the firmware only if I need to I guess... Thanks guys
