This here is my personal setup and thought i'd share. Usually i test extensively before releasing to public, but if you do find something detrimental to the usage of your device that is either Force Closing or simply not working, let me know and i will in turn inform whether that is something i will tend to.
WETA is a rom for Music geeks like me, though because we are still waiting on TWRP to become available i'd thought i'd make this MOD to flash in the meantime. Its main focus is Audio.
This mod installs the following...
V4A 2.5.0.5 or 2.3.4.0
Dolby Atmos
Sony Xperiaâ„¢ Z5 Premium audio system
Beatsâ„¢ libraries and effects
WETA Reboot app

How to install...
As of 9.0 moving forward, you will need to flash this mod using TWRP.
NOTE: There have been some issues with systemui crashing after install. This results in having to flash back to stock and in some cases having to wipe phone completely.
I advise running an un-encrypted file system at this stage, which may or may not help. Just be aware that things are basically experimental at these early stages.
1. Make sure you are on Stock firmware and have rooted device
2. Download mod zip
3. Install this app "Root Browser"
4. Extract the zip (click and hold, select extract) using Root Browser directly into Download folder. (you should have /sdcard/Download/WETA_*** as folder with files in it)
5. Go into Download/WETA_*** folder and select WETA-flash.sh
6. Tick "Execute script as root"
7. Then select the Execute button
8. It will say "Executing script"
9. Once complete you should have a popup box with no errrors.
10. Reboot device and mods should be installed....

WETA I still use ur ROM for 6p.. hoping u making one for the Pixel as well!! Especially with WETA Mods

Thanks for this but it did not work for me. I placed the zip in my sdcard/Download directory and extracted it with Root Browser. Selected the .sh file and executed the script as root but I get the following:
no such file or directory

If your extracted folder was "WETA_Audio_Pixel", try renaming it to just "WETA_Audio". I had the same problem and that is how I got it to install. I am going to test it now. Thank you Mentalmuso. V4A is one of the main reasons why I root.

Thank you very much. Yes it did execute and I'm currently rebooting. Sometimes I overlook the simple things thinking it's much more involved.

WETA Audio mod #2
Just made some changes to audio_effects.conf, there was some mistakes in there.
This can be installed over the top of the old mod.

Works great after the update. Thank you!

The link to AFH is broken. Gives a 404 error.
PS thanks for this lol. I was thinking about using my 6P for music but then this popped up since I have notifications on for your website.

Yeah I'm planning to, I just got tired of waiting for a custom recovery. This is actually a good way to test mods.

I just tried this and it crashed my system ui. I did have the SystemUI Tuner enabled. This may cause issues. Now, I cannot use the phone. I am looking for a way todo the system image.

I just want to note to anyone else having issues. You must use the file app that was mentioned. I usually use Root Explorer but I guess the way Root Browser runs the script it does it correctly.

I have system tuner enabled. No issues here. Maybe it's something else or how the phone was rooted?

I'm interested in whether you have modded anything else on your phone. As the Audio mode don't touch systemui. Though I had a major systemui crash earlier but I was running 3minit mod and though it crapped out on me. Though I got the systemui crash after using Spotify via Bluetooth, it went to lockscreen then when I unlocked systemui crashed. So I'm wondering what mod caused it now
Have you been using Bluetooth or Spotify?

I used Root Browser and it immediately crashed and rebooted after executing the script. As far as I know, the chainfire boot-to-root.img it the only way to root. No tweaks or mods yet. Everything was working great prior to this running this mod.
That is the nature of working with rooted phones. Sometimes things just happen. I just wanted people to know that it could mess up the system and be prepared to flash system to resolve.

Purchased from Google Store for use on Verizon. It was unlocked and rooted of course. This was the first mod that I was applying. Yes, it was connected to Bluetooth to wireless speaker and Pandora playing.

It crashed while running the script? That ain't right haha.
Sorry but what was it that crashed exactly? Did the phone go into a boot loop? Or did systemui crash

Almost immediately after I ran the script, the phone rebooted. Once it rebooted, I am getting a constant System UI crash and caannot do anything.

You'll have to fastboot flash system system.img. You won't lose any data. Do vendor as well to be safe. Just double checking here, but you downloaded the audio mod and not the 3minit battery mod right? WETA_Audio_2.zip not WETA_3M.zip? Thanks for being a crash guinea pig, I'll be looking into this later today.

Disclaimer: I am not a "real" developer. I am simply a user who has put together the great knowledge on the forums to hack together a ROM for personal use. If you flash this your warranty will be void. I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device.
I have used quite a few ROMs in the last couple months and my favourite that I settled on was Frosty by djintrigue808. When he had stopped development (He has since returned) I was inspired to attempt to get some of the features he offered in my own Canadian based ROM. I cannot thank DJ enough for the work he has done. I did not code any of the mods or changes, I ported and migrated from many other threads on the forums. The changelog has the proper links please thank the original authors for their work.

Why Use Frozen Syrup?
- I had funky issues using the t-mobile based roms with the new Candian baseband. That is the primary reason I wanted to make a rom based on the new build.
- Newer build than the t-mobile roms includes cool stuff like Page Buddy and Headphone Shortcuts! As well as many fixes!
- Features!
Installation
*If you have already flashed the KIES_HOME_T999VVLDLL1_T999VYVLDLL1_CL616748_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5 the partitions should be setup so you can skip to normal rom installation (step 3) If you are an American trying this out remember that flashing the canadian baseband may make your cell signal not work at all. Make sure you have a flashable zip with your baseband to restore it after flashing full stock or using mobile odin simly clear baseband(modem) when flashing.
1. Use odin to flash stock firmware: (They seem to be the same but here is all of them) Mobilicity Wind Videotron
2. Install some custom recovery (I use TWRP) from goo.im
3. Boot recovery: Full Wipe (Factory Reset. Wipe Dalvik Cache. Wipe Cache, Wipe System)
4. Flash ROM (frozen_syrup_x_x_x.zip)
5. Wipe Dalvik and Cache again.
6. Reboot and let it set itself up. This will take quite some time ~5 minutes so don't touch it
Tips / FAQ
1. Disable HW overlays in developer options. This will greatly reduce "android system" background battery eating. (Thanks original Frosty thread for this tip) It must be re disabled after EVERY reboot. **Note this does cause strange playback issues with Youtube and some other apps** Thanks akapaul26

1. I am just sharing what I put together, not advertising as a fully developed daily driver. I will do my best to fix problems that people report but I can't guarantee anything.
2. I just assumed no one used these. MX player and ES file explorer (Or Root Explore) are clearly superior options. Also The stock Video player spoiled the season finale of dexter for me grumble grumble (I hate it) Will put back in if you think that is best and just freeze my local copies.

Interesting. CM 10, CM 10.1, Frosty (4.1.1) all did very strange things (data broken, no reception, IMEI dissapeared) after I updated to the jellybean baseband. Maybe it was a fluke on my end and I should give them another shot.
I know what you mean. It's nice to see some love for the t999v. Will give it shot later and ket you. Thanks

I was flipping out after the finale, that crew did an awesome job this season. If you want an image I can make one up at some point after Christmas for you.
NRA Approved GS3
Finally got it to upload to mediafre. Added back in video player and my files as per request.
(May have accidentally added back in a couple of useless bloat but will clean it up for next version)
Questions I have for you:
1. Do you want the Swype keyboard that is included in many roms included? I personally use swiftkey but could add this in if people use it.
2. Do you have knowledge of the build.prop parameters and can walk me through some of them? Especially the tcp ones? PM me to chat.
3. What system software is included but shouldnt be? S-Memo, I find this program obtuse and its background syncing cycles are not helping performance and or battery. Samsung account and background sync and backup services, I imagine people actually use these I personally don't but will not remove yet. OTA updater. If we have to flash back to stock to get an OTA update anyways is there any point having it sit around eating up cycles and battery?
4. What features would you want? Is there something cool you think I would find interesting in some other forum / variant of our phone? Link it up and I will try and hack it in.
Some people have offered up hosting and or mirroring. If you could PM me the links after you have them mirrored I will update the post. Thanks!
I will be busy with family stuff this week but will get to any problems / questions / feature requests links soon. Thanks for your interest.
Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate it.

I converted the icon packs from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995320
To work with TWRP. I have asked the original author for permission before I link them in the OP but this is where I would start. The "full" packs don't seem to work for some reason I think the transparent pull down window breaks it. I flashed all blue icons and toggles and while it doesn't look perfect (the font is off a bit) it is a start. After I get permission I will try and modify his work to fit better on this rom.
Thanks for the compliment I am waiting for permission from a couple more authors before putting up the next update which has some really awesome features, the AC!D audio suite makes an absolutely massive difference and sounds fantastic. Also has long press to skip tracks in the stock media player which is a feature I missed from AOSP.

Still confused on how to use any of his themes. Some of the mods dont have the zipalign file to replace. Which mods did you successfully tried?
You dont need any of the mods just the themes. The 23 togggle blue or red maybe with red clock and red icons would be multiple files. I will pm you when i have a minute with a better instructions.

HOW TO INSTALL PROPERLY FROM NIE TO NK2!!!
Instructions from HERE - Thanks to -viperboy-
-viperboy- said:
UPDATED 12/12/14 - Added NK2 tar
I didn't see a decent link to the stock NIE/NK2 tar that wasn't on rapidgator or similar crappy site, so I uploaded it to AFH.
Required Files
N910PVPU1ANK2 tar - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95853297432265112
Samsung USB Drivers - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001612594
Odin - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001612591
How to Flash
Install Samsung USB Drivers (if you haven't already)
Unzip N910PVPU1ANIE_N910PSPT1ANIE_SPR.zip, you'll have a file called N910PVPU1ANK2_N910PSPT1ANK2_N910PVPU1ANK2_HOME.tar.md5
Unzip Odin-v3.07.zip
Right-click on Odin3-v3.07.exe > Run as Administrator
Reboot your phone into Download mode - Power off, then press and hold Power + Home + Volume Down. Press Volume Up when you see the warning screen
Click on the PDA button and pick the N910PVPU1ANK2_N910PSPT1ANK2_N910PVPU1ANK2_HOME.tar.md5 file, wait until Odin says that the MD5 was checked successfully
Click Start
Once finished, you'll be back to stock. This WILL NOT reset the KNOX Warranty flag if you've rooted, it will only put you back to the stock ROM/recovery/firmware. Enjoy

How to use WizIconizer
Flash this in recovery
Reboot and open WizIconizer
Long press on pack you desire
Click Apply (grant permissions)
When it asks to let the app reboot for you (it wont work) reboot manually. (Can long press pwr button)
Enjoy your new icons. You can get more in the app store right from the app!
To get rid of the icon packs showing in the app drawer:
Open the app drawer
Hold recents button (to get menu)
Hide Apps
Select the Icon's (or any others you want to hide)
Profit from a cleaner app drawer
That was fast!

As far as me telling you any MAJOR changes? I couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag. I have been told better ram, better battery. However the battery can be argued, as they add more 'stuff' for Itson in this update. Check this out this thread for the M8 I would prefer not to happen to my phone however

Once I went Note 3. I couldn't go without. Sold my ipad got Note 10.1. Will get note 12.2 soon unless they have 15" version? lol
You know something about tablets i just get the note 12 pro 3gb ram 64gb memory on newegg it was refurbished open box for 450 with tax it's clean and i pay half price i recommend you that if you are planning to get one.
FYI. This rom will only flash the updated NK2 OS. If you also want the new firmware, and be fully updated to NK2, you still need to odin the N910PVPU1ANK2_N910PSPT1ANK2_N910PVPU1ANK2_HOME.tar.md5. I'm not sure what's changed in the new bootloader and i'm afraid to find out. LOL

[MODS] Statusbar-Navbar-Misc Mods-Aroma installer and Aroma Magisk Module Mod Maker

I have this on the Pixel thread but it should work on the Pixel XL too. Based on July update and for stock based ROMs. If you plan on installing the 3Minit battery mod you must first install the 3Minit Resources app below.
The regular Aroma installs each mod as you go. You must flash one of the bases at the bottom of the list before you install any of the other mods. These contain the smali files and some modded xml files.
Correct method regular Aroma
You need only flash a base one time. If you flash a base a second time it wipes out all previous mods and you start with a clean base. The different bases affect Internet speed mods only. If you are not interested in Internet speed mods, any base will do. Each mod is installed at the time you hit install (unlike the Magisk version where the mods are collected until you are ready to make your module). It pulls your apk, mods it, then reinstalls it. Before you hit finish, you can check the box at the top of the page, then hit finish, and install another mod and keep doing this until you have what you want.
The Magisk Module Maker stores each selection until you are done. You then flash the Magisk Module selection (very first one in the Aroma). It creates a module on your sdcard. When you are out of the Aroma and back in TWRP, go back to install and find the magisk.zip that is in the Magisk folder on your sdcard and flash it. If you left something off or want to change some things, flash Aroma again. After installing the mods you want, select the second option of Module add-on. This will mod your current setup so you don't have to reflash everything over again. The bootanimation, signature check disabler, and louder effect tics don't work on Magisk yet. You can put them in manually through TWRP.
Like I said, these should work but I don't have a Pixel XL so flash at your own risk.
Options
Internet speed - Up over Down- select position far left or to left of Icons on the right side, or center of statusbar. Indicators can be colored individually 6 different colors

Yes, that is correct.
Try just installing the bases and nothing else. You might install BusyBox first. Reboot, then flash just the base. Nothing different between these two aromas except for the install method. .

Okay, here is what I did. I flashed back to stock, rerooted with SuperSU instead of magisk, flashed this aroma and installed the base you did, a couple of mods and rebooted. It borked my phone but I have a pixel, not a pixel XL so I expected that. I did however, boot into TWRP, pull off the systemuigoogle.apk before I flashed everything over again and did a factory reset. It looked nothing like the one you gave me and it decompiled just fine. All smalis were there as well as 3 Minit mod. I'm not sure where things are going wrong for you but everything looks fine as far as I can tell. This is what I pulled off. You are welcome to try it.
Edit: I was dumb enough to do this twice. This one has 3minit mod on it. Install the 3minit resources app before using this Systemui
Thank you but it does exactly the same as my systemui, got the 4 column QS but no center clock or 3minit. Can anyone else with a stock rooted xl confirm this as working?
Thanks

** you must have busybox installed for this to work.
** you must have a deodexed SystemUI.apk for this to work
** you must have root and WETAmod must be granted root access for this to work
check all these things before reporting issues. Thanks
Installation, Please read very carefully. This rom was built for Exynos devices only. Though I have made a separate app to apply mods for Snapdragon devices using SAMfail.
- Snapdragon devices -
You won't be flashing a rom zip. There is a special WETAmod-snapdragon.apk intended for SAMfail users, that you will install as a user app that applies most mods. NEVER FLASH THE ROM ZIP!!!
A SystemUI restore method prepared is recommended, if SystemUI crashes use adb to restore stock. See post #2 for the method to restore.
Your original SystemUI.apk will be backed up in /data/data/com.weta.mod/weta/backup.
Install WETAmod app as regular user app
When updating to a newer version, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS uninstall the older existing version first!!!!! otherwise things wont work.
Grant root permissions when opened
Make sure you have BusyBox installed
Only works with deodexed systemui
SystemUI crash recovery for Snapdragon devices
Recovering from this painful crash is possible without flashing a complete firmware with odin, by using adb. So first thing you should do before flashing any mods, is get adb setup on your device. I'm not going to go through how to do this. Also make sure you type "adb shell" then "su" and give it root permissions. Do all this before modding.
Ok, you have a SystemUI crash that prevents you from opening anything. First thing to do is connect your device via USB to your pc that has adb installed.
Type "adb devices" to make sure your device is accessible.
Type "adb shell" press enter then type "su" press enter
Next we need to mount system as rw.
Type "mount -o re,remount /system" press enter
You should have a root shell into your device. With access to writing to /system. Type this next command string to restore a backed up SystemUI.apk that wetamod has taken.
Type or copy and paste this whole command and press enter..
cp /data/data/com.weta.mod/weta/backup/SystemUI.apk /system/priv-app/SystemUI && chmod 0644 /system/priv-app/SystemUI/SystemUI.apk && reboot
Press enter.. you should reboot into a working system....

Thanks I'm still running your LG v20 firmware I'll have my note 8 Monday
Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk
FYI
This is an installable app. It'll patch the systemui that you installed with samfail with the necessary files for the mods. This may take 5-10 seconds, then the phone will reboot system UI. This will happen after you select your first UI mod. From that point on things will be applied a little quicker. You need to press the apply section to apply all mods.
If you select a 3minit mod, it'll do a full reboot as it needs to install the needed apks for 3minit. After which they will just be disabled when not in use.
Audio mods need a full reboot. Done by you.
Deselecting a mod and pressing apply will uninstall the mod completely.

So I hear that the only issue here is that samfail2 is odexed. I'm 95% sure that if the deodexed systemui.apk from samfail1 is swapped out for the one in samfail2 rom, along with deleting the oat files, then this mod will work again.
I'm in the process of swapping things around, but if anyone wants to test my hunch, then please do

I've actually had no major issues with WETA on Samfail V2. Everything but the UI stuff works for me. I am happily awaiting anything that comes out. As I quite enjoyed all the stuff that you put out on the V20.

viper4android on 8.1.0

has anyone figured out viper4android on 8.1?
i think we need to wait for the kernel sources to get released. I tried magisk + v4a magisk module + busybox + permissive mode - and still no dice
What Version of v4a did you try?
Yes, I have it working.
Install it as normal (2.5.0.5, ShadySquirrel) with magisk and reboot
Use a root file explorer (I use Solid) to move /magisk/viper4android/system/lib/ to /magisk/viper4android/vendor/lib. Copy this folder to /magisk/viper4android/system/vendor/lib (making folders as well)
Copy /system/lib/libstdc++.so to both of these folders
Reboot, viper won't complain about drivers now. Open Viper's settings and set it to compatibility mode, and disable selinux with the development settings. You have to disable selinux every reboot for it to keep working.
I'll repackage the module at some point but this is how it works
did anyone get this to work? i followed directions and its still propting me to install driver

I'll give it a go... usually good with this stuff and I'll let you know!
---------- Post added at 12:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:13 PM ----------
Following those steps I was able to at least get Viper to install the driver without the I/O error.. but after I reboot it still asks to install... still trying. I deleted the /magisk/viper4android/system/lib/ after moving everything to /magisk/viper4android/system/vendor/lib ... maybe that was wrong?

I'm relocking my device... nothing to do with the process I attempted here.. Just keep losing root randomly and other odd behaviors ... will wait for an updated Magisk and Viper. Cheers!
wasn't able to get past the drive i/o error
i wasn't able to get past v4a complaining about drivers. i even recursively chmod -R 755 everything in the /magisk/viper4android folder in a desperate attempt to sift out a permissions issue
can someone who got past the drivers issue run:
ls -l -R
in /magisk - and paste the screenshot or output here? i've been using adb shell with root btw to navigate around the filesystem.
thanks!

Didn't seem to work for me on 8.1 DP2. Maybe i copied the files wrong? I copied the lib folder from /magisk/viper4android/system to /magisk/viper4android/vendor, so basically I just copied the lib folder to that location. Then i went to /system/lib and copied libstdc++.so to /magisk/viper4android/system/lib/ and /magisk/viper4android/vendor/lib. Switched to permissive mode and compatibility and still bugs me about drivers. Maybe I had to move the files and not copy? I really don't know and I'm going crazy here. Any idea what I should do?

I've attached the viper folder from my magisk directory. Replace yours with it and set any file's permissions (although that shouldn't be needed because magisk can handle it), reboot and see if that works:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oTTQbox31LvPzQCd2iDadNZJIXJDcdHp/view?usp=sharing
Note, the zip IS NOT flashable, IS NOT installable by magisk and SHOULD NOT be used on anything other than a Pixel 2 XL running the 8.1 preview.

Worked for me. I'm running the 8.1 preview DP2.
Strangely enough, your install files contained extra files than mine. The audio_effects.xml file wasn't there for mine on any installation. How odd.
Thank you, though. I followed your instructions in an earlier post and it never once started to work.
I'm not using compatible mode either.

I modified that file a while ago as a test, no idea if it makes a difference. It might do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It works! Thank you so much. At first it made the viper app disappear so I started over. I installed the module from magisk, rebooted and then copied the files, set selinux to permissive and then I was in business. Seriously thank you so much. Without viper, my car won't play below 50hz and with viper I can make it play down to 30hz. I also made my own convolver file to add a high pass filter so that my speakers don't try to play below 30hz because then they distort at moderate volume. With the convolver, I am able to blast it. Makes it sound like a have a subwoofer and I am pushing my speakers almost to their limits, but boy do they sound great. Again, thank you!

Oh yeah, I never install the viper app to the system because it doesn't load IR profiles correctly then. I always remove it from the module and install it as a user app, you can also use any themed version you want then, like the material one:

Would you mind sharing your convolver for the low pass filter and/or be able to combine it with sibilance correction in the 8khz range (or teach us how)? I'm trying to use Tracks master de-essed convolver. The problem I'm having is that in BSD_Geek Jake's IRS pack, *the convolvers aren't working*.
I extracted the IRS files directly to the Kernel folder in Viper4Android directory on sdcard. Viper is processing, and I know because if I toggle FET compressor, I hear the difference. However, choosing any convolver doesn't affect sound.

Like I say, remove the app from the magisk module's system/priv-app, reboot and install it as you would any other APK. I don't know why module authors insist on having the APK in the system, it breaks things

I didn't do anything with moving it from the system app and my convolver works. I have an irs response I made to slope off <30hz and it works. Not sure what is happening there
My method still works on the 8.1 release it anyone is wondering
Working for me on 8.1.

Sorry, I'm having a little trouble understanding how to use your method with your zip file. Should I extract the contents and then place that folder in my data apps, reboot, then install the apk??
