Maybe next month.

All the videos and searches I've seen about the Nougat release say it'll be in 2016 last quarter so, if everything gets delayed, it won't get past December this year =)

Time for a class action lawsuit. We were mislead.
I bet if people did sue, these companies would be more careful with their promises, or do things more timely.

Hi, Brazil variant.
From India here, having the Dual sim variant, my Moto Z2 play still on the November 2017 security patch.
No Oreo Update, seriously upset, since there is not even a Date announcement for an Oreo update.
Highly dissappointed
Better staying on nougat for stability. Getting oreo too soon and some annoying bugs just like oreo on Mi A1. I'm pretty sure Oreo on Z2 Play will be out as soon as it's considered stable.
Yesterday i get Dicember patch.
Italian Moto Z2 Play with TIM brand
Verizon variant here don't even have the December patch it's very sad.
I just got the December patch update 15 mins ago in India, retin. Waiting for Oreo but a stable one.
Oreo isn't a magical fantastic update. It's nothing to get excited about, it's mostly just a number, with a few new bells, lets be patient.
Now if "Skittles" is released and we are still waiting on Oreo. Then it's time for pitchforks.

Yeah, but we buy the devices because they promise the updates. They can just make android 10 with no changes at all but the number, yet if moto promises the update, we deserve to get it

What part of that says "there will be no Oreo update in March"? It just says that the current update will include security patches through 3/1. Nowhere does it say it will be the only update in March. In fact, the staged rollout for Oreo on Lenovo/moto phones has already started in Australia and New Zealand with the X4, and the G5 Plus is on the short list to get the update after the X4, so the chances are really good that we'll start to see the G5 Plus getting Oreo in March or April (the PR firm handling the release of information hasn't given an exact date, just that the rollout has started, and the list of devices that will get it after the X4)

Also, we'll get oreo after the z series, which has got a new soak test.. so my guess is the end of april or may

Seems it's the Z, Z Play and Z2 Play at the moment in soak test from their respective XDA forums. There seems to be a couple of reports suggesting the Z Force is also in soak test https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75547609&postcount=7 X4 and Z2 Force have the OTA for Oreo (looks like Z2 Force came out a few days ago).
Maybe after their official release, the G4 Plus/G5 (Plus) and G5S (Plus) devices are next? That is, if the G6 release doesn't get in the way...
I think motorola is waiting for the G5 to reach 1 year so they wln't have to provide 8.1 update..

Pretty sure they'll release only 8.0 and not 8.1
My take in this is that it will take about 15 days into March until we see this patch being pushed to at least one of the regions.
(Likely to be retbr first) [lucky me, br]
echo92 could be right though, we may see Soak Tests for the G5 Plus.
Actually, I think the Z Play will very, very soon receive Oreo officially

My guess: they either release 8.1 for the G5 S and G5 S plus or they will release 8.1 for both G5 and G5S plus models..
I actually decided to analyze the time between update release dates and update notes date in the Lenovo Support page...
If my calculations are correct we may only receive Oreo in May. That if they don't decide to come up with an April security patch for Nougat.

Talk of the ZUI 4.0 isn't new. If you may notice in that thread, 4.0 is planned and being developed since over 6-8 months. However, official confirmation is just starting to arrive from different news sources.
For Ex. https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/ne...-specifications-features-release-date-1910439 here, Motorola P30 Note is getting ZUI based ROM and slated for launch soon in India.
So ZUI 4.0 is well on track but no official announcement yet on Z2 Plus update availability for 4.0. However as per @SteelBodyX sources do confirm Z2 Plus is a potential candidate for 4.0

Interested in knowing if the kernel is updated to 64 bit or else this update would be utterly useless to developer community apart from camera blobs.

Hmm, having seen no soak tests from either the G5S Plus or the G5 Plus, June may seem a little optimistic. When Motorola was testing the Oreo soak test for the Z Play, they also released the update notes for the Oreo update: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75464851&postcount=181 However, it still was 1-2 months before official OTA deployment.
Whilst it's good to get excited about major updates, I'd still temper expectations until the OTA actually comes out.

So long as you're prepared for the possibility of major, possibly device breaking bugs and having to be very careful if you wanted to downgrade back to Nougat (we've got enough bricked devices as it is)... It should be fun, just be careful
A jump is nice. Directly to 8.1 Let's see how much time it would take
I disagree that we will see an upgrade in June... Let's break it down a bit as to why:
Honestly, look at the history of the Oreo upgrade for the G5S+, it has been in beta/soak for almost 5 months. It started in late January, I can provide references but Google will work easily enough here if you don't believe me, and there are verified users getting the initial beta in early February. Although I haven't seen a screenshot of the released version, I am told it has the May security update, meaning the final build was likely early to mid-May... So conservatively that process took 4 months from initial beta test to release.
OK, so a tad longer than most Moto upgrades, but not uncommon as anywhere from 30 to 100 days from initial beta/soak to release is normal. We have seen this process be no shorter than 30 days, although 60 would be "typical", but we have seen it take in excess of 8 months (in the case of Nougat for the Moto X Style/Pure before full release, for example).
Now jump to our device, the G5+... there is no confirmed users with a beta or soak yet, not even semi-substantiated or reputable rumors of it occurring yet in ANY market. Not even confirmation of MFN users getting emails to sign up for the beta test. Plug in the previous numbers and we are looking at a release no earlier than late July, but most likely in September and possibly even later.
Again, this is all guess work and looking at history and my personal knowledge through having Moto devices for a very long time, so I could be wrong... in fact, I hope I am wrong.
Plus, let's not forget this device is already 15 months old (released March 2017), and this puts Oreo release at an age of 18+ months, something Lenovo's Moto has done before for devices this age, but also at an age they have cancelled upgrades (not updates) on other devices at this age as well. Although I don't think they will cancel it, it is a remote possibility to keep in mind.
Just my 2 cents worth... take it as you wish.

We can't be too far behind.

Just curious, what have you seen to show the rollout is happening? I've not seen any OTA reports and the update page for the 8.1 Oreo was taken down (or I can't access it at any rate).
Just Google it (moto g5s plus oreo) and see all the reports from the last 12 hours. Eg BGR, Android Police

Edit : seems like the articles reference a Motorola update info page that has since been taken down.

Unfortunately, we have seen these "release notes" posted many times and the associated update never appears on devices.
But since we won't get Oreo for several months, if at all, we will probably see the update.
Oreo will never come to the G5+ due to Oreo being 64bit only (which the G5+ is not), sorry guys...
The G5S+, on the other hand, will have the Oreo update indeed!

I'm confused by this statement about Oreo being only 64 bit - the Moto Z Play (also with the Snapdragon 625) got an update to Oreo (v8.0), which was a 32 bit update... https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/8632026 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76277398&postcount=28 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76277699&postcount=29
As I understand it, the G5 Plus, G5S Plus and the Z Play have the same 64 bit capable CPU, just with a 32 bit stock ROM, unless something changed?

Oreo is able to run on 32bit systems, as you quoted, it does on the Z Play. As changing from 32 to 64bit needs a complete wipe no OEM will change that with an OTA update. Motorola knew what devices are running which OS and they wouldn't have announced Oreo for Moto G5 and G5+.
Some people just don't have the correct informations.
Sent from my Moto G5 Plus using XDA Labs
Sometimes I wonder that Moto is treating G5 plus differently than G5S plus but both the phones are basically the same (IMO), the only difference being the screen size and the dual camera setup and thus will update G5 plus after updating the special edition G5S plus, if this happens, I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing Oreo till the end of September, maybe November.
This is just an assumption and I'm not saying that it's correct but I just hope it's not and Moto will release a patch note for G5 plus Oreo update soon.

Update Android pie

How long it takes to become Update to Android 9.
Older devices from Moto like the Moto G6 get it.
For our Z2 Force no news.
Hope that I could use after that volte after Update to Android 9.
Now with Android 8 volte is disabled for european devices ?
Motorola Brazil said the next phones getting Pie are: Moto Z3 Play, Z2 Force, Z2 Play, G6 and G6 Play.
I believe we will get it with the March Update. There are probably a security update coming within the next days, so Pie will probably the update after that one.
Too bad we not even have 8.1
My favourite Substratum themes don't support 8.0 since a while and I am frustrated waiting for an update ....

That's right, but Z-series get two major updates. First difference. And the second difference is that the Z2 Force is a 799€ device and not just 249€ like the Moto G6. So we can expect more and longer updates for it. Normally Z-phones should get it first. We have no 8.1, so at least 9.0 first. Hope

No, there is no Option to enable volte and wifi calling.
I read online that Motorola disabled it after Update from Android 7 to 8 cause they had a Problem with that. But never fixed it. After that long Times that is not ok. I cant count that as a Support.
If volte is not working after Update to Android 9 the z2 force Was the last device I bought from Motorola.
What is Moto doing? Not even a security patch since November. This is an Android Enterprise Recommended smartphone. They are supposed to follow Google's guidelines to get security updates atleast every 90 days. We're in February almost and no security patch is being released or Android 9. Google should tell them a thing or two.

An official from Motorola Spain said to me at the Moto G7 launch event that the Moto Z2 Android Pie update has started but it's rolling out really slowly. It has the December 2018 security patch, just like the new G7. I'm typing this from the new G7 BTW.
I think they delayed the update. Z2F official website shows the January update already, but seems like nobody received it yet. Retbr here and still nothing.
