Expanded volume to separate ringer and notifications? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to add the expanded volume control to allow different volumes for ringer and notifications to the stock 7.0? I have done this before with exposed but it is not yet working on 7.0 yet.... is there a way to enable this?

Hello friend.
I had the same problem and today I found the solution. I use Resurrection Remix too.
I had downloaded an app called NOYZE that did the trick.
There's some details, tough. The app isn't in the play store and only expands the panel with pro version activated. So I downloaded it using Blackmart and activated pro using LuckyPatcher.
It overrides the normal volume panel and is very useful.
Check it out if you can.

Anyone know how to separate the ring and notification volumes - does it require custom ROM and/or kernel?

Try this app, someone on Nexus forums says it works. Next time do a quick google search aswell, since all I did was use your keywords and found some answers (if they helped ofc).
Doesn't work, which is why I posted here... :/
i would like to know as well?.i use quick setting..used to work on other phones..but that is weird we cannot separate the volume of notification and ringer..

You can use RingLeader from the Market as a work around, but it's a pain to set up and you have to tweak all the different app settings individually - which is a real pain for adjusting notification settings...

[Q] How to activate PIE CONTROL ?

Hy everyone,
I Just flashed the New CarbonRom for my GNex and in the screenshots, PIE is available but i don't seem to find how to activate it.
PS : when i'm on expended desktop, Pie controls are not available so it might be a toggle issue and if so, i don't know where to toggle it on.
Many thanks !
I'm not sure about your ROM but on the PA ROM you have to enable it in settings then and only then when you enter the expanded desktop mode can you use the PIE controls.

I dunno about that ROM, but I know you can get PIE on any ROM via LMT Launcher. It's not a full launcher, you still use Nova or whatever else people use, it just adds PIE. I'm using LMT with expanded desktop enabled on CM10.1M1 for my soft keys, and SmartStatusbar+ and NotifierPro Plus for the notification bar.
LMT is good too
Yeah I know about LMT but it's an extra App. I think this rom has the pie controls already like posted in their thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136851) but can't find the Toggle
If you find something, let me know and until then Many thanks !

[Xposed mod] SMS In Ringer Stream

SMS in Ringer Stream - Changes SMS audio stream of notifications from 'notification' to 'ringer'
================
This was made for Samsung Galaxy S3 and tested on it. It should work on other phones, but I can't be sure. I don't held any responsibility for any damage you do on your phone.
The default SMS/MMS app has no option to set volume level for notifications and it uses the level set by the system to all notifications. I prefer to have it use the same level as the ringer so I made this mod to do it. This way I can have a low sound level for notifications, a normal sound level for ringer and hear not only incoming calls but also SMS/MMS.
This uses Xposed framework (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401)
After you have installed Xposed framework, install this app. After that, enable the mod inside Xposed Installer (you probably have a notification to do it, you can click it). Then reboot your phone (you can soft reboot inside Xposed Installer).
NOTE: This only works in default SMS/MMS app, others apps won't work.

Well, it can be done, but it's not the purpose of this mod. But source code is available, you just have to change what packages it hooks, it's really simple.
I see, would be nice though, maybe when i learn developing ill give it a shot

This is a great solution !
Now sms is on same volume as the ringer wich is much better then the original !

Check /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/log/debug.log for any error and report it here (or /xposed/debug.log if you aren't in latest Xposed). Also, how do you know it's not working? Have you tried making notifications silent and then receive a SMS and it didn't played?
It's great to notice one of my most needed mods this still works on kitkat 4.4.2
How about making an app that can change or set volume for all apps separatly?
Work like This:
add an app in it and set volume for that app
add facebook and set volume to 100%
add whatsapp and set volume to 60%
...
maybe an option to change notification sound for every apps too
.
is this possible at all?

+1 there are apps that let you put their sounds in another channel (my alarm clock app let me choose between alarm channel and phone call channel) so maybe it is possible to create an app that let us decide in wich channel a sound is played so we can put different volumes in each channel ?
I would love to be able to have some notifications (for example facebook) sound silent while other more important apps (for example mail) make more sound
Something like this for the navigation voice in maps would be awesome. It drives me nuts when listening to music at a low volume that the nav voice can't be heard.

About setting different volumes I'm not sure, but I think that it may be possible, you have to change the volume every time a notification is going to be played. But I won't be doing it, I don't have time and more importantly I don't need it - and I hate working for no purpose.

That is a different thing, you aren't talking about a notification sound, so it requires a different method than this module. But I think it would be possible.

Hi,
Tomorrow I will have a shot at modifying your code to listen for "hello" sms instead of default.

I tried changing the package in the code to use "com.hellotext.hello" instead of "com.android.mms".
I could not figure out to compile on pc, but I got it to compile on tablet with "AIDE" from the store. Unfortunately it didn't work.
:crying:
Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Hi arjag,
I can't help you. What I can do is recommend that you read http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...reate-your-very-own-xposed-module-in-eclipse/ and http://www.xda-developers.com/android/easily-configure-xposed-module-projects-in-eclipse/
Also there is the possibility that the app you want to use works in another way, I don't know.

[SOLVED] Control vibration for all apps?

Hello guys!
As you may well know, with Android Marshmallow we can control whether we want notifications from a particular app, if we want it to peek, etc.
But is there any way to just deactivate vibration from an app which doesn't let you set that setting? For example, to allow app A to sound and vibrate, app B to just sound. App C just visual notifications, etc... I've looked around but I can't really find what I'm looking for... There are apps to deactivate sound, notifications, but nothing for vibration...
Do you guys have any tips on that? To deactivate sound AND vibration from apps which doesn't let you personalise it, in a way that we still get notifications ? Or at least deactivate the vibration... It's driving me craaaazy lol
Thanks!
I found XNotifications (an XPosed module). It does what I was looking for.
Try it out!
Thanks anyway.

Pie - Volume Buttons Slider(s)???

So pie arrived. Have not read much on new features so was surprised by the volume button opening
two sliders to control the media and ringtone volumes. Was touching them to see how they worked
and the ringtone slider disappeared. Now all I have is the media volume slider. Have been unable to find
anything on there being two sliders or how to get the second one back.
Came here hoping for answer.

If a ringtone or notification is making a sound at the same time you press the vol button, it'll appear. They removed that in Pie. Google I mean, not Motorola. They called it a "new feature", which it isn't. It's an unwanted regression. Same thing with the expandable notification toggles. Google scrapped that too. Most GSIs have added it back to Pie. If you want it on stock though, you'll have to decompile and edit the framework-res.apk. Apktool was broken for all G6, and G7 models last time I checked. I don't know if that's been fixed yet. Without it, adding that back to stock is the fevered dream of a madman.

Okay, I believe that's the Republic Wireless version.
Anyway, there is an app on the Play Store that will add a second slider on your home screen when you press the volume button.
The app is called Button Mapper by Aaron Seagert.
You will need to purchase the pro version if you want to add the second volume slider.
If you decide to go that route and you need help with getting it to work please feel free to ask me.
Appreciate the info - will check it out.
I guess I'm trying to figure out as to why the 2 sliders initially appeared and then the one disappeared.
(Figure it is somewhere in the Pie settings.)
