this one works well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boldbeast.recorder
You have after installed, to configure it properly... Read also this topic on their official forum: https://www.boldbeast.com/forum/topic1122-call-recorder-for-nexus-5x.html

The free version doesn't allow automatic call recording.
Is there any free alternative?

Unfortunately even the best paid call recorders work very poorly on the 5X. It has something to do with the chip they used (I forgot the exact explanation). The only way to get good quality call recording is to have the call volume super low, which stinks.

That's shame.
Thank you

Has anyone extracted the call record function from the south Korean firmware? http://news.softpedia.com/news/South-Korean-Samsung-Galaxy-S-Gets-Firmware-Update-152563.shtml
Short answer no, hardware incapable.
I'm waiting for someone to extract it from the Korean firmware as well . I used call recording extensively in my previous phone. It's a shame Google provides no APIs to support call recording I was hoping the newer international firmwares would have the feature as well, but apparently it isn't so.

Why would it be hardware incapable?
use any recording software
presss record
pick up your call
put your call in Speakerphone mode
when call ends
stop recording
Done!
problem solved, mission acomplished

That works exceptionally well when people are calling you, genious.
It has been sometime now since the last post on this thread. Meanwhile anyone got a good working Carr Recording App to recomend?
I tried Total Recall but that didn't work at all for me.
Free or paid app, as long as it does internal recording, not over speaker.
Any suggestions?

Call recording in Hyperdrive rom?

I have an S3 running Hyperdrive 16. Every call recording app results in static and garbled junk.
Is this a property of the phone, ROM, or app?
I'd like one asap.

I'd like to, I'm having the same problem using Slim Bean..
skvalex Call Recorder Pro. Has a free 15 days trial, you need to install Alsa also by skvalex. Works mighty fine on my S3, and finally I don't have to look for a recording app that works half the time.
Must it be on speaker, or can you record on a normal call using BT or regular .... ?

LG G3 Call Recording

Anyone found an app to AUTOMATICALLY record phone calls? I've tried two, ACR and Call Recorder. Both have problems recording the other person - with ACR the other person sounds garbled and with Call Recorder the other person isn't recorded at all.
The stock dialer lets you record phone calls, but not automatically.
Anyone found an app that will record phone calls on the G3? What is it?
Thanks!
Stock recorder does not let you record on a d851. Have spoken to both devs they all say it a hardware issue but yet tweakedbox g3 records.
AWESOME G3

G3 tweaksbox will allow you to add call recording and then recorded calls go to Voice Recorder app.
FYI, I get the same garbled caller side of my recorded calls with G3 Tweaksbox for some reason.
The other end of the line is garbled and distorted, barely able to make anything out of it, about 85% of all calls are like that, whether outgoing or incoming.
And it seems the louder the other end of the line is, it becomes even more distorted, but it's not from talking loud, my end is recorded fine, even when I tried yelling, it seems to be the way it's handling the receiving audio.

Yes call recording will work natively. The only issue is the other person sounds REALLY bad.

Pretty sure this is how you can get it working...
After talking to @wideasleep1 about his settings with Automatic Call Recorder (FREE), and applying a couple settings of my own in both phone settings and in G3 TweaksBox, I was able to get the call recording nice and clear!... here's how to do it:
Pic 1 - G3 TweakBox settings
Pic 2 - Settings (access this during call)
Pic 3 - Automatic Call Recorder settings (1 of 2)
Pic 4 - Automatic Call Recorder settings (2 of 2)
*once in a while on a certain call the recipient will sound fuzzy, maybe is related to the phone's main audio volume while on the call though. I'd say about 50%-70% up is a good volume. Anyways, someone wanna try this out and post your results?
Pic 4... Sorry
Ok this will add the record button when on a call. It will not auto record maybe I'll see about modding the apks to make that happen when I get some time. I have tried this and it's not terribly bad. There's a little crackling if the other persons voice gets to loud. So if you just want the option to be there for the next time you call Comast it''s there, also this is a flashable zip so please do a backup first :good:

Anything.. Lol
The point is that the os doesn't see them. Renaming the file achieves this without permanently deleting the files in case you want to revert later.
So, resurrecting a dead horse here...
When you're hearing the calls sound "garbled", the reason why is because the gain of the side-of-the-call-in-question is set too high
What I mean by this, for people who don't have experience with audio processing:
A file will have a given maximum-volume it can store for any given sound sample.
If it is told to write a volume higher than that maximum, it will write the maximum instead.
"Distortion" is a term for what this type of thing does to sound; specifically in this form, where the numbers are just cut down to size with no finesse, it is called "hard clippIng" and generally sounds pretty awful
The solution is to basically bring down the volume of the incoming sounds that are being recorded – i.e., in this case, the other person's end of the call needs to have its volume brought down coming into the recording app / system
The term for incoming volume is "gain"
So, the LG built-in call recorder needs the incoming gain, esp. that of the incoming calls, brought down to fix this
There is likely a number in some obscure preference file that controls this. I just have no idea where to look.
Anyone have any leads??
One of the updates to ACR this year included a gain control. By reducing the gain, I can now record calls with no distortion. Success!

Call recording on Pie

Hi
I am using ACR on Mi A2 Lite with Oreo without root.
Call recording works just fine.
According to this, if I upgrade to Pie there might be a problem with call recording.
Has anyone who already upgraded to Pie can verify this problem? any other app that can be used or parameters within ACR (some suggest using the Mic as recording source)?
I would rather not root my phone.
Thanks
try boldbeast recorder, it's free and it should work without root
-----
I updated to Pie and had to root. I tried several apps. They were still recording, but quality was bad. After root it's fine

Today, January 6, I detected a problem in my xiaomi mi a2 lite that I did not have with android 8 (oreo)
with android 9 (foot) the vibration stopped working with this operating system, call calls, messages bone for the use of the phone as such
I thought that my phone had been damaged but access to the "hardware test" of the phone in this way: * # * # 64663 # * # * and there if the vibration works correctly, which indicates that it is an operating system problem and not the telephone as such.
Algien had noticed it ????
I hope that Xiaomi is aware of this problem for future correction of the same in future update.
REPORT THIS PROBLEM HERE AND NOTIFY TEAM XIAOMI.
THANK YOU

I can confirm that !
I was using Cube Call Recorder Pro on Oreo and it worked fine.
Since I switched to Pie the app still works but recording is very very weak and of poor quality (unusable)
Even with mic as souce, my interlocutor's voice is recorded louder (almost good) but I have to speak very loud to have my voice at the same level. (also unusable for me)
I tried Call Recorder ACR with nearly the same results.
The good point is that normal recording seems to still work without root (with low level and poor quality) so maybe someone will find a workaround (a kind of soft sound booster...)
I'm not ready to root for now
If you want straightforward call recording, do not upgrade to Pie.
Enable Developer Options and disable Auto Update on Reboot.
I rebooted and had the upgrade the Pie without knowing - I really regret that.
I have Pie 10.0.3.0 without root and I'm using this ACR. It works fine, but if you're experiencing issues, just tap Menu button in the top left corner, choose "Recording issue" and then Android 9/Pie. Nevertheless I had to customize some options, like Audio source (Auto), Recording format (MP3-HQ), Audio gain (20dB).
@Mellow971 try this Sound Recorder, recordings are good quality and loud.

I (re)tried Call Recorder ACR and you're right, max audio gain and HQ file format gives good results (with Pie / no root)
Same for Cube Call Recorder, they added an amplifier that makes the recording much better.
For both apps I would'nt say that it works fine, but they are indeed usable again ! :good:
For how long ? Nobody knows...
Thanks for trying.
Thanks for trying.
That's encouraging.... I wish goolge would open call recording again.
With the gain boost is the other side voice understandable? isn't your own voice then very loud?

Yes, with gain boost my voice is indeed louder. Not too much, but if ever both people speaks at the same time, it can be hard to understand the other side.
And there are quite more ambiant noises.
Overall I find the recording acceptable for my needs, although it is definitely less clean and clear than with Oreo.
But as I said before, the real question is how long will this work?
Because it is clear that the feature is not really disabled yet (will Google make other changes ???)
So if you really need clean call recording, I think you should stay with Oreo for now (or root...)
I cant recorder in my Mi A2 Lite with android 9 and ACR Total recall audio low
I solved with " Call Recorder - SKVALEX " the version free from Google Play now the registration are very good
(my phone is rooted)

MI A2 : Android 10 June Update has Inbuilt Native Call Recording Option Enabled,
No Need of additional Recording Apps.
Record Button is enabled as soon as the Call is picked Up, you have to Swipe Left to see the enabled button tap on it to start recording
Recording starts with a disclaimer announcement to both caller and receiver: " this Call is now being Recorded"

Thanks, but this is hardly a good solution.
First, is there a way to auto record the calls or do you have to manually press the record button each call?
Second, the announcement to the other side might put off some people although it is perfectly legal to record calls in my country.
I actually stayed with Oreo for this reason.
Anyone tried more recently on Android 10 with transitional recording Apps like ACR?
Thanks

That I couldn't tell you since I have never used magisk. My phones aren't rooted so I would default to say rooted is always going to better. I can say this method is clear enough to work. I would not call the quality the same as voice uplink/downlink.

Well, without root it's just the typical procedure. Increase the mic volume so the app, this one or ACR and others, can pick up more of the caller's audio. Increasing the background noise, too. So it's never clear.
So it's a shame that root continues to be the only practical solution to achieving in-call recording and not just recording the speaker.
