Call recording on Pie - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi
I am using ACR on Mi A2 Lite with Oreo without root.
Call recording works just fine.
According to this, if I upgrade to Pie there might be a problem with call recording.
Has anyone who already upgraded to Pie can verify this problem? any other app that can be used or parameters within ACR (some suggest using the Mic as recording source)?
I would rather not root my phone.
Thanks

try boldbeast recorder, it's free and it should work without root

-----

I updated to Pie and had to root. I tried several apps. They were still recording, but quality was bad. After root it's fine

Today, January 6, I detected a problem in my xiaomi mi a2 lite that I did not have with android 8 (oreo)
with android 9 (foot) the vibration stopped working with this operating system, call calls, messages bone for the use of the phone as such
I thought that my phone had been damaged but access to the "hardware test" of the phone in this way: * # * # 64663 # * # * and there if the vibration works correctly, which indicates that it is an operating system problem and not the telephone as such.
Algien had noticed it ????
I hope that Xiaomi is aware of this problem for future correction of the same in future update.
REPORT THIS PROBLEM HERE AND NOTIFY TEAM XIAOMI.
THANK YOU

I can confirm that !
I was using Cube Call Recorder Pro on Oreo and it worked fine.
Since I switched to Pie the app still works but recording is very very weak and of poor quality (unusable)
Even with mic as souce, my interlocutor's voice is recorded louder (almost good) but I have to speak very loud to have my voice at the same level. (also unusable for me)
I tried Call Recorder ACR with nearly the same results.
The good point is that normal recording seems to still work without root (with low level and poor quality) so maybe someone will find a workaround (a kind of soft sound booster...)
I'm not ready to root for now

If you want straightforward call recording, do not upgrade to Pie.
Enable Developer Options and disable Auto Update on Reboot.
I rebooted and had the upgrade the Pie without knowing - I really regret that.

I have Pie 10.0.3.0 without root and I'm using this ACR. It works fine, but if you're experiencing issues, just tap Menu button in the top left corner, choose "Recording issue" and then Android 9/Pie. Nevertheless I had to customize some options, like Audio source (Auto), Recording format (MP3-HQ), Audio gain (20dB).
@Mellow971 try this Sound Recorder, recordings are good quality and loud.

I (re)tried Call Recorder ACR and you're right, max audio gain and HQ file format gives good results (with Pie / no root)
Same for Cube Call Recorder, they added an amplifier that makes the recording much better.
For both apps I would'nt say that it works fine, but they are indeed usable again ! :good:
For how long ? Nobody knows...

Thanks for trying.
Thanks for trying.
That's encouraging.... I wish goolge would open call recording again.
With the gain boost is the other side voice understandable? isn't your own voice then very loud?

Yes, with gain boost my voice is indeed louder. Not too much, but if ever both people speaks at the same time, it can be hard to understand the other side.
And there are quite more ambiant noises.
Overall I find the recording acceptable for my needs, although it is definitely less clean and clear than with Oreo.
But as I said before, the real question is how long will this work?
Because it is clear that the feature is not really disabled yet (will Google make other changes ???)
So if you really need clean call recording, I think you should stay with Oreo for now (or root...)

I cant recorder in my Mi A2 Lite with android 9 and ACR Total recall audio low
I solved with " Call Recorder - SKVALEX " the version free from Google Play now the registration are very good
(my phone is rooted)

Since ACR app changed its policy, I installed this one from FossDroid and love it. I didn't change a thing except custom file names and works fine.

MI A2 : Android 10 June Update has Inbuilt Native Call Recording Option Enabled,
No Need of additional Recording Apps.
Record Button is enabled as soon as the Call is picked Up, you have to Swipe Left to see the enabled button tap on it to start recording
Recording starts with a disclaimer announcement to both caller and receiver: " this Call is now being Recorded"

Thanks, but this is hardly a good solution.
First, is there a way to auto record the calls or do you have to manually press the record button each call?
Second, the announcement to the other side might put off some people although it is perfectly legal to record calls in my country.
I actually stayed with Oreo for this reason.
Anyone tried more recently on Android 10 with transitional recording Apps like ACR?
Thanks

My device is rooted my phone is galaxy a72 and android version is 11

this one works well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boldbeast.recorder
You have after installed, to configure it properly... Read also this topic on their official forum: https://www.boldbeast.com/forum/topic1122-call-recorder-for-nexus-5x.html

The free version doesn't allow automatic call recording.
Is there any free alternative?
Unfortunately even the best paid call recorders work very poorly on the 5X. It has something to do with the chip they used (I forgot the exact explanation). The only way to get good quality call recording is to have the call volume super low, which stinks.
That's shame.
Thank you

True. I hadn't realized that at the time of my post - it had been appearing to work but I lost a couple recordings.
I use total recall in root mode instead. So far has been working well.

What are your settings? The recording of the be person on the other end is really quiet for me, and if I mute my mic it stops recording what they're saying until I unmute my mic again.
I'm on a rooted Pixel 2 XL running Android 9.0 in the USA.

I'm just using default settings. But enabling root mode, I think that has to be toggled on. I also have the paid version, that might matter.

Hmm, I toggled on root too. Are voices on both ends of your recordings equally loud?
Also, do you mind sharing your device info? For example, mine is

Apps can't use microphone

Hy guys,
I'm writing here because my OP 5T's microphone isn't working in apps that use it, except for phone app, in which it works properly. Doing recs in whatsapp, telegram, and IG results in a rushy noise and even in my guitar tuner app the phone doesn't hear sounds. On the contrary, during calls the other person can perfectly hear me.
I'm on stock Android 10, build number is A510_43_200513. I already tried to wipe cache from recovery, uninstall and reinstall apps and nothing worked. Have you any suggestion for me?
Thanks.

Using any call recording module ?
If yes , uninstall the call recording module and check again.
If no , I am not sure though, my call recording is **** and I can hear is some optimus prime like talking while I record calls . So I read somewhere that it's due to the ok google detection , even though I haven't checked it yet .
So I may recommend you to de activate any ok google detection through sound command and check again .

Question Cannot record phone calls any more. Ideas?

Moved to the 11 lite 5G NE from a 9t recently.
All is good - but I cannot record phone calls anymore. When the call starts, the record Icon appears, I 'click' it, and it shows it's recording. But when the call ends (or i manually stop recording) - there is no record of the recording!
Recorder works just fine as a simple recorder, so basically it's operational.
I'm on Global Stable 13.0.4.0(SKOMIXM) with 2022-04-01 security update.
Ideas are welcomed.
thanks.

You have to use CN based roms to use call recording. Xiaomi.EU is the best, you should try.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xiaomi-eu-multilang-miui-roms/files/xiaomi.eu/MIUI-STABLE-RELEASES/MIUIv13/xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11LE_XM11Lite5GNE_V13.0.1.0.SKOCNXM_v13-12-fastboot.zip/download
Thank you @sceryavuz but as I've said - my previous phone was a MI 9T, also with global version and recorder worked there just fine.

Mi 11 Lite NE is not your Mi 9T. If your phone has Google Dialer and Google Message then you can not record call (https://www.makeuseof.com/google-bans-call-recording-apps/). You should use Xiaomi Dialer and Xiaomi Message to record call (CN, IN roms already have, Xiaomi.EU).
Thanks again @sceryavuz . Is there any other way to get the Xiaomi Dialer + Messages without changing the rom?
Belay that!
The damned thing does record! On the Recent tab of the Google Dialer There's a mic picture near each recorded call, and the ability to listen to it.
But the recorded app, though used to make the recording, does not show them.
So the question(s) now are:
- where are those recordings kept.
- is it possible to configure Recorder app to use the same folder the phone app is keeping the recordings (or change the phone app settings so it will save the recordings where the Recorder app expects them to be)?
Thanks again for any help.
