Get rid of the ota update - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

Hello, I rooted my phone and there's in an OTA update that keeps asking me to update. Is there a way to get rid of it? What happens if I try to update?

You can't update normally. But you could try to use Flashfire to do the OTA

Could anyone confirm if flashfire would work?

I believe you can use the "Disable Service" app to freeze the update notification.
I did it once before but I'm sorry I don't recall each step.

Good call. I did it with titanium backup. There's an app for the updates.

How, it won't detect the OTA with me and the package is also not able to be found manually

Why not simply restore the stock recovery, let the OTA run normally and go back to the custom recovery after? SuperSU should be able to survive the OTA with its OTA survival mode and if not, simply reinstall via your custom recovery.

F240K OTA again

Just received the OTA... After download cannot install due to the device been rooted.
Any idea how to bypass the root check or install?
You can try this app -
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
But I think it will not work, you can trick some apps but can't trick the OTG (OS).
I think I've tried everything to hide root. I've even unrooted and it still won't update. You have to reflash the stock rom to get it to update OTA. If only someone knew where it's downloading to so that we can extract and manually update.

No knock code, but that can easily be added putting 2 files into system/apps from the G Pro 2. You can also add SlideAside.

[D855 - 32GB] TWRP Recovery won't boot

Good morning.
I installed the latest TWRP and then the Fulmics MM rom. Sadly, I now can't update, because TWRP won't boot, it gets stuck on that logo. I need to update this rom, a few apps are excruciatingly laggy ( eg Waze and Shazam )
What can I do to fix this? Thanks for any help
Try reinstalling twrp with autorec.

Do not
Just use flashify to reflash the last twrp (since you already got it)

Using flashify to flash twrp gives boot certification error when trying to get to recovery sometimes :/

that is good, better than a hardbrick which may happen when using autorec on a non stock rom
What about using flashtool to revert to stock, rooting and using autorec?

But i'm sort of scared of Flash tool. It almost bricked a D802 I had, and all my computers run Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04...

So... i used flashify to downgrade to TWRP 2.8, and it booted fine. No boot certification errors. And the lags i mentioned are because MM has a decent App2SD... and i have a crappy Class 4 MicroSD... Oh well. Is there anything faster than Class 10?
Cards in generally are slowmo. Some manufacturers stopped using class and use xc1 like samsung and similiar

You have to unlock the bootloader too. Unblocking the bootloader will wipe your device.
As a rule of thumb, I always unlock bootloader on day one of purchasing my devices. (mostly Nexus or OP so far). This way you avoid potentially losing data.
Or u can download systemless xposed which will allow to turn on and off to use Android pay

root (access) is obtained via apps like SuperSU
xposed has nothing to do with root access - it is an additional framework allowing for low level modifications (like amplify, etc)
unlocking bootloader is always the first step, from there you can flash supersu (which is NOT just an APK file).
there's a number of threads about it that can explain it better than i.

One more question : is the warrantly lost after rooting ?

ROOT on locked bootloader

Hi guys. I was wondering if it's possible to unlock bootloader, install twrp, root with magisk or supersu, flash stock recovery, then relock the bootloader.
I'm asking this because I have no intention of changing the stock rom but I want to have root just in case an app needs it. Also, when I startup the phone, there's that annoying message. Aaaaand I still want to banking apps and Android pay. Thank you!
Edit. Don't try this because it will brick your device. tried, confirmed, bricked.
Nope, won't work. Try locking bootloader with modified system and you'll end up with a brick.

If u try to lock bootloader back make sure to install stock recovery 1st

Maybe, dunno for sure, I don't use magisk.
You may try if you want, just keep that unbrick tool handy.

yep, you were right. after locking the bootloader, it gets in a bootloop, and restarts forever. luckily i was able to enter stock recovery and was able to flash 7.0 again. cheers
Back to your first post - you can have root with magisk and still pass safetynet (so banking apps etc will work), but the bootloader has to remain unlocked. Again, I can't go into details as I'm personally not using this, but I know that it works from what I'm reading on this forum.
You just can't get rid of that message on boot, otherwise having an unlocked bootloader is not really an issue.
Btw, even that message can be skipped by pressing the power button again, no need to wait 5 seconds.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
I have an unlocked bootloader and have magisk installed. SafetyNet passes with hide enable. I can confirm Android Pay works. My banking app works, but I'm sure which banking app you're using.
I too can confirm that when magisk is installed and safetynet can be passed, my banking apps work totally fine here in Germany

Magisk is fantastic, not only is it starting to open a new xposed like module repository, but being able to pass safety net and have root is awesome..

doesn't work, have tried it.
And in case i want to relock the bootloader, what are the steps? Currently running 10.0.7.HD65AA and rooted with magisk. Also stock recovery and i think stock firmware (?) Don't know how to check for the firmware. Kernel is 4.14.117-perf+ which i think is stock already. thank you

When you unlock the bootloader it trips widevine Level and sets in to L3. L1 is needed for HD.
There's nothing to be done.

Any guide on relocking the bootloader? Do I have to flash stock boot.img first to remove root and magisk before relocking it through fastboot?

You have to remove root and magisk to be 100pct stock or else your phone will get the "You phone cannot be trusted and will not boot..." Message if you relock the boot.

You can try uninstalling it but before you do that be prepared to have a soft brick and backup stuff cause I did that on 20.0 magisk and it wouldn't boot at all. Maybe it was a glitch idk, but if it does you'll have to MSM back to stock
