Mi Music App - No Shuffle Option? - Xiaomi Mi 5s Questions & Answers

I see no shuffle option in the Mi Music App. Am I just not seeing it, or does it not exist?

I don't have the phone yet (will pick it up in 30 minutes ) but found this for you:

Not sure if the music player still looks the same, as that post is already 1 year old.

[Q] Scrobbling?

Just a quick question here.
Has anyone found a way to allow the built in music player to scrobble to Last.FM? I'm a Last.FM addict and I was horrified to realise my beloved Arc won't scrobble >.<
Cheers.

Cheers! Yeah I saw it a while ago so I might try it again. I really like the built in app but I can mix and match! The joy of Android
Winamp for Android also has a setting to scrobble, and personally, I think that the Winamp app is better than any other music app that I've found so far.
DoubleTwist also does scrobbling to lastfm
Try '³' it's 1 of the best music players, and you can also scrobble to Last.fm

[Q] Music play back problems

Hi people,
i have only recently started using the onboard music player for my MP3's.
When I pause it, then go back to it a while later (usually more than 10ish minutes) when i play again the start position can be up to 3 or 4 minutes before where I stopped it. It's like dejavu a lot of the time.
I had to do a full reset the other day, and the problem is still the same.
And it applies to audio that has been converted by a variety of different sources.
Andy suggestions as to what it could be (or as a final point, a great small basic music app)
Thanks in advance
(and yes, my phone always locks so the start position shouldnt be changed whilst jangling in my pocket)

I'd recommend "MortPlayer" from the market. Great basic player with a good equalizer, and it plays by folder so if your tags are incorrect it won't mess up your albums.
Edit: Oh, and it's free. Always a bonus.
thanks, ill give it a go. Although any insight to the odd behavior of the stock player would be great.. if anyone has any ideas?

Why is offline music playback so hard?

So I was loving the look of the SW3, especially when Runkeeper released their beta version. However now I read that offline music is more difficult than it really needs to be?
Why haven't Sony got their own music player on there, surely it makes sense that a lot of people are going to want to use the watch for this?
Do you have to use Google Music or is there an alternative? Seems like everytime I decide this is the time to buy one, something else puts me off.
I use Spotify on the phone and then I control it from the watch. I have also uploaded about 100 song into the watch and tried to play it from watch to Sony SBH-20 bluetooth headphones but the sound is sometimes laggy although the distance between watch and receiver is under 1 meter. I have no another BT receiver except car radio which I was not able to connect (message Device is full - ?)
Has anybody similar issue?

I was browsing through the online manual of the SW3 and found the following tidbit:
To download a playlist using the Walkman® application
Make sure the battery level of your SmartWatch 3 is 70% or higher.
From the main application screen on your Android™ phone or tablet, find and tap Walkman.
To open the Walkman® home screen menu, find and tap Walkman.
Tap Playlists, then select the playlist that you want to download to your SmartWatch 3.
Drag the slider beside download to wearable in the appropriate direction to turn on the download playlist function. A card indicating the download progress appears on your SmartWatch 3.

My Walkman application doesn't support this yet, so probably an update of the Walkman application should take care of this.
If you sideload ES File Explorer (using the APK and ADB), you can load music using ADB and play it with the ES File Explorer built in music player, it works surprisingly well.

[Q] Supported audio files.

I couldn't find anything posted already, and just wanted to know if there is a list of supported files types with the Moto 360. All my music is in lossless format at the moment and wanted to see what format I would need for syncing to the device itself. I have scoured google several times for an answer, but have ever found one myself. Anyone know anything about this?
Thanks =)
Its based on gMusic so presumably the support should be the same.
There is no music or video stored on the watch it is used as a remote to whatever audio or video player that you use on your phone

Wrong, any music you download on the Google Play Music app on the phone can be uploaded to the Watch. (tick the "Download to Android Wear" in the Google Play Music settings)

Stands corrected
I did not know that bit of information since i quit using google play music app years ago and keep it disabled; here is some good articles on it http://www.droid-life.com/2014/10/24/how-to-store-music-on-android-wear-for-offline-playback/ http://www.androidcentral.com/play-music-android-wear-how-use-it-and-what-it-still-needs but it has limitations; storage on watch 4GB, that is for all apps and music you will run out fast, play music makes it is extremely clunky to pick individual songs (see the android central article) , but my biggest concern would be battery life, (that streaming Bluetooth connection to you headset will eat the battery alive.) .

True on all counts, I'm going to try it while working out to see how much it kills the watch.

sweet, will be interested to hear about this
Probably easiest just to create a Moto360 playlist and sync that one.

No Equalizer (EQ) in Google Play Music App

I'm trying to wrap my head around why LG has removed the EQ functionality in the Google Play Music App. The only LG phone I've ever owned was the Nexus 5 and the built in EQ worked perfectly on that handset, yet I've heard that it's also missing on the G3. This makes absolutely no sense and, as a result, music playback sounds lifeless. I've tried several third party EQ's but there appears to be no rhyme or reason as to when they work and when they don't. And none of them effects the sound over bluetooth. Is this bothering anyone else. If so, have you found an EQ replacement that actually works?
Cm12 maxx audio eq..
I rarely use EQs. Most people just crank up the treble a ton anyways as they think it sounds good when in reality you end up with an artificial sounding turd.
Technically, the EQ was a separate package from the Google Music Play app. Yes, the Nexus 4 and 5's had them, but they do not come prepacked. Every manufacturer has their own version of it, and LG simply decided to opt out.

Thanks. Will try to figure this one out. I haven't done much 'messing around' with my phone in quite some time. A bit out of practice. It appears to be working on G3 though... so that is promising.

"If you don't like the way the music sounds then you don't like the music" - My Dad (circa 1994).
I was looking for an EQ and remembered I paid for this one a long time ago, but there is the free version also. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer Works flawlessly on my G4.
When/if root is available viper is the way to go. If you know what you're doing you can get some good quality sound on some good quality headphones or bt speaker system with viper.

For it to be fully functional yes. It does however still work. It's about the best Ive found without root or paying for poweramp

I bought this one as well. It only worked intermittently. Worked great at first. Then after taking a break from music for a few hours I noticed that it sounded flat again. Went into the EQ and messed with the settings but nothing effected the output. Forced closed everything and started things up again but still no dice. Tried a few others as well with similar problems.

Do you have a link to installing this without root. Any instructions I've found require root.

Just download the zip extract the apk and install. It's not a major improvement, but it's something..

That's weird. I'm on T-Mobile with version 10h and I haven't had any problems.

Thanks. Didn't notice that APK before. Installed without any problems but has no effect on sound output and crashes often. Oh well...
I'm still having this problem and it's driving me crazy. Every app I have tried works on and off. I'm not rooting my phone just for an EQ either. I've tried every app listed in here and more and they work for a while then stop. Has anyone found a reliable 3rd party app that actually works when you need it to?
VLC Player is the answer to all of your problems
I personally use PlayerPro (with the add-on for the Ten Band EQ from the Play Store). I find it can be adjusted to being absolutely perfect (plus the general interface of the app is one of the best I have found for playing music)

But these are only going to work with local music files your playing from your phone right? Not going to work if I'm streaming from the play music app right?

I have a stream service set up on my home server and connect to it via VLC. The are ways to connect to other streaming services as well, you just need the URL.
