[NON-XPERIA/XPERIA][AOSP] Method for downloading Xperia apps from Google Play! - Sony Cross-Device Development Themes and Apps

Method for downloading Xperia apps from Google Play!
Add in build.prop (or change from ro.com.google.clientbase=android-google)
Code:
ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-sonymobile
Add com.sony.device.xml to system/etc/permissions/ - set permission for xml file as the rest of files there: -rw-r--r--
Reboot and optionally clear Google Services Framework data before that (wiping /data works definitely )

Sony users can download them directly from play store afaik?

[MOD] [App] Google Play Store 4.0.27 with Multi DPI Mod

Google Play Store 4.0.27 with Multiple DPI Mod for your Flashing
Credit goes to :
1. @tazlooney89 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227911 for [APP] NEW Google Play Store 4.0.27 + Inverted MOD + Multi DPI
2. @MyLifeRocks10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839871 for the previous versions
I pulled out the Phonesky.apk from the @tazlooney89's package (since the flashing the default package did not update Google Play to 4.0.27, as it flashes it to the location /preload/symlink/system/app) and replaced it in the Zip file for the previous version from @MyLifeRocks10's zip version.
If this has helped you, hit THANKS
Cheers!!!
Where I can change the DPI for the store?
Thank you..

To change the DPI you should be rooted and need to make the changes to the build.prop file.
1. Open Root Explorer or any other file manager with root access
2. Goto /system
3. Open build.prop file
4. Edit the value for "ro.sf.lcd_density" to any value of your choice 320 is default for Galaxy Nexus [Mine is set to 280]
You can also achieve this by using app from Google Play like LCD Density Modder etc...
If this has helped you, hit Thanks.
This works great on my i9000 running Helly Bean! Thanks! :good:

@Korvan30 This is really strange, it could be really something unrelated... Try the latest 4.1.6 version of the Play Store and see if you still face the challenge connecting.
Will try that once I find a good download ty

New Xperia Themes Won't Install

Hi,
- Nothing appeared in the search above when creating the thread
- I seen a few comments about this in different threads, but nothing specific so thought it was worth it's own thread
The new Xperia themes won't install for me. As soon as I click Sony select, it shows me either one of two screens (with different themes) and none of them install. Either I click download then I get the error "app not installed" or on Google Play I see "incompatible device".
I do not have root on 4.3 as my bootloader is locked, so I cannot put the new apks in system/app. Besides, this should be working correctly without the user havint to go to extreme methods for a change of look.
Do many others have this problem? Any way to get around it?

If you scroll down a bit, you can see that the problem can be fixed by deleting /system/vendor/overlay/android-res.apk. (Backup on SD just in case)
Follow up by a reboot and you're done. Tested it myself.

Get Google Assistant

This is a simple tweak to get google assistant working on your device.
Note: This tweak only works with devices running android 7.0 and above. So, if you flash on a lower version and screw your device, I'm not responsible. Do it at your own risk!!!
So all you have to do is add a piece of code to your build.prop
Here's the code:
Code:
ro.product.model=Pixel XL
ro.opa.eligible_device=true
Reboot your device and we're done. Google Assistant is ready to serve you.
Note:You must have google app installed on your device and move it to /system/app
Screenshots:
Nougat is in early stage so I know most of Redmi 1s users still using marshmallow, so I share to you how to get Google Assistant in Lollipop and Marshmallow.
You need Xposed Framework and Assistant Enabler module. Just enable the module and you are good to go.

What I did was :
Install Pixel Launcher, move it to system.
Install Google App, move it to system
Update Build.prop
(I used Kernel Adiutor to update it, Open KA, goto Buil prop Editor, click on that small (+) symbol, select "Add", in "Key" add the name like "ro.xxx.xxx" and in value "Enable" and enter both the attributes. Done there.)
Restart
Update Google App from play store.

You can uninstall (delete) useless system apps from /System/App and /System/Priv-App since the memory allocated to the system is really small in your case mostly, changing which is really a tedious work to do.
You can do:
Install Google Keyboard and delete default Keyboard (folder named as LatinMe)
Remove FM Radio
Remove "AntHAL" if you don't use fitness devices
Remove CM File Manager, instead you can use ES File Explorer Pro
Install Chrome and remove default Browser.

Just tried... If you simply extract the two apk from the zip you can install them with no issues at all... (I prefer it from flashing...)
The Contact apk is the same as you can find on Play Store, while the Telephone apk is a (lot) newer version than that available on Play Store... Thanx a lot! :highfive:
EDIT: wrong! No problem with contacts, it can be downloaded and installed from Play Store too... BUT Telephone refused to install on Z while installed fine on another MM I use... I'll investigate more on this issue...

Ok, it's possible to install single apks BUT it's needed to install jar & permissions file (& reboot before...) so, for newbies is probably better to simple flash the zip (that is ok, I've cheched...)
Main difference is that flashing after the apps can't simply be uninstalled but become part of the system since they are put in priv-apps... (ok, they can be freezer or removed by a root file manager anyway...)
I'm using it anyway... small differencies for contacts, a lot more (and interesting...!) for dialer...

There's a modded apk here, somewhere, but the problem becomes the caller id functions don't work as it needs to be signed by Google to use the correct APIs. So unless Google messes up like they did with 2.05_rc4 we'll never have an "simple apk" version.

Anyway, the dialer is a *major* upgrade, not only a "cosmetic" one... It is a newer version than the one released with Aosp Nougat 7.1 and beneath there are some newer versions too, it is the newer one working on MM too (the others need at least v. 7.0 to work...)

Nope, it doesn't work with stock android nougat on my moto z xt1650-03, retailmx. After the restart the phone wasn't able to open, not a single app was able to recover my phone app; so I applied my TWRP backup and tried again, same result. So I decided to make it work because I didn't want to delete everything again so, this is what I did:
Make sure to flash the zip, and if you can use your phone anymore, don't panic like me...
1. Erase the app via Titanium Backup pro
2. Restart the phone
3. Go to the file explorer, find the zip of the nougatdialer and extract the dialer apk
4. install it like a normal app and voila!
5. grant permissions if needed.
I think the normal apk should work on nougat.
If not here's the nougat zip:

[ROM][PIE]OnePlus H2OS[H930/JOAN]

OnePlus H2OS
This ROM i made it for a long time, but it's first time share on the XDA hope you enjoy it.
IMPORTANT: VENDOR PARTITION NEEDED BEFORE FLASHING!
Make sure you have VENDOR PARTITION on your device before flashing the rom or else you will get boot loop or brick. You can check the forum for how to enable vendor partition or treble on your device.
HOW TO MAKE VENDOR?
Use this file for creating vendor Partition by flash in twrp.
Make backup first before flashing.
Flash zip, go to wipe and advance, select resize partition, then select vendor, choose where you want to create the vendor partition from( system recommend, and also the size should be 512 and above)
After creating the vendor partition, reboot recovery and format system, vendor and caches. Now you can flash rom.(copy from miui11 port same work on H2OS)
The vendor zip is here:https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArSQ9UltpYJiuQsXTObSAjJZbJtI?e=8MX9JA
How to Flash this rom?
1.unzip this rom
2.Flash IMG to the SYSTEM/VENDOR/BOOT
3.Reboot and enjoy
