Recovery img with pc using qfil and adb.
First I tried with QFIL, but then I tried to do with basic adb and fastboot. sp flash tool is what I never heard of. Should I be trying to do it with that?

Thank you for your help, I'll do as instructed.

There was no img file in the link, just cwm zip. So there was nothing to flash, at least nothing in a way that I know of.

You have to unzip the zip file using winrar or any other such software and then copy recover.img file where you have kept the adb drivers
Regards milkyway3

That's what I was trying to say. Unless I downloaded the wrong thing somehow, or my pc has some sort of an issue, there's no img file inside none of the zipped folders.

Sorry for the wrong link
This is the correct link for direct download
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424964938
Follow these steps:
Download the TWRP recovery image to be installed on your Android.
Enable USB Debugging under Developer Options.
Install ADB and Fastboot utility on your PC via
https://devs-lab.com/download-lenovo-usb-drivers-adb.html
(extract the above rar and install exe file)
Go to the directory where you have downloaded the TWRP image file and then open the command console or termianl on this directory on your PC. To open a command window on Windows OS in the current directory, press shift + Right Click anywhere on Windows explorer, or some folder. Then on the menu opened, just press the “w” key on the keyboard or select “Open command window here” to open a command window.
Now connect your Android to the PC using a USB cable.
Enter the following command on the command window opened:
adb reboot bootloader
to put your Android into bootloader mode where you can flash/install the TWRP recovery.
If your Android device asks permission such as “Allow USB debugging” then just tap on OK to proceed.
Now when your Android is on the bootloader mode just execute the following command on the console:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.x.x-xxx.img
While executing this command make sure to replace the twrp-3.0.x.x-xxx.img with the actual file name of the TWRP that you have downloaded for your Android.
Wait for the TWRP to be flashed. Once it is done execute the following command:
fastboot reboot
on the command console and done, your Android is now installed with TWRP recovery.
Hope this helps you out
Regards milkyway3

I'll do it as soon as I can. Thanks again.

I did the exact same way but still shows the error "failed (status read failed (too many links)) lenovo vibe p1". Can anyone help please?

Hi to everyone!
I just bought a Lenovo Vibe P1 version P1C72 ( 3gb Ram and 16GB memory) from China and it came with Android 6.0.1 installed, VIBE UI.
Unfortunately there are o lot of bugs in this version, and i want to downgrade my phone to Android 5.1.
Could somebody tell me if i can do that by following the method from androidMTK.com, using QcomDloader Tool and lenovo P1a42 stock rom?
Or there is another way to downgrade my phone, because that seller guy from China told me there is no way to go back to Android 5.1 ?
Thanks in advance !

The nfc will not work with 01a42 lollipop, and i dont have chinese 5.1 sorry. Maybe u can try some good custom rom from the developers

If only NFC is the problem, i don't mind. I'm not using it, anyway.
But the method, using QcomDloader Tool, or another tool, is safe?
I'm not risking to brick my phone?
I'm still thinking to flash my phone using Qfil and put version P1a42_S135_1510131022_Q20248.2_ROW instead of Android 6.0 Marhmallow and get rid of those problems.
Could it be done such downgrade?

also looking to upgrade my p1a42 to nougat rom that is stable no bugs. is there a reason you gave cwm instead of twrp? say we go with cwm are there any rom it will not flash or just about any rom it will handle? i prefer twrp by the way there is one for the p1 but people are having issues flashing it. your advice is truly appreciated.

Here are the answers:
1. Best way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/android-one-general/tut-how-to-root-android-one-devices-t2928240
2. Yes, CM11 link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/android-one-crossdevice-development-original-android-development/sproutdevelopment-cyanogenmod-11-alpha-t2897516
3. Rooting with step 1 doesn't void warranty. Step 2 (flashing) voids warranty.
To get back warranty when needed to go to service centre, unlock bootloader and completely format everything, download stock ROM and follow procedure from here: [Official][Stock][4.4.4] Mircromax Canvas A1

Thank you for your reply.
But these links are taking me to lots of other links and I am confused now. Isn't there a simpler way to achieve these.
Sorry, I am new to these things although once I have installed CM11 to my Xperia GO but it was much simpler.

Atleast try the rooting as in step 1. Those links are just download links.
OK. I'll tell you in short. Download and install these softwares: Minimal ADB and fastboot & AQ 4501Driver
Download this: twrp.img and place it in folder: C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot\
Download this: SuperSu, remove memory card from phone, connect it to PC via card reader and cut & paste this (.zip) file just inside Memory Card and put it back into phone.
Enable USB debugging in phone (Google if u dont know)
Connect phone to PC via USB cable and click on the "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" shortcut in desktop.
Type the following one by one:
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot twrp.img
In your phone, wait for few seconds. Click on "Install ZIP". Browse to external_sd and select the file UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip (which you pasted)
If it asks for confirmation, just do it. That's all! Now reboot phone from there! Your phone is rooted.
Thanks...

Yes you can. First boot up the CWM recovery from fastboot mode using the command
Code:
fastboot boot recovery_name.img
(I'd recommend Philz Recovery)
First, take a backup of your present ROM from Backup and Restore menu-> Backup to external_SD (so that if things go wrong, you can come back to present ROM)
From now on, you can adopt this procedure: http://youtube.com/watch?v=H4JJu0igXmU
(What the video says is
1. Wipe the system and boot partition
2. Place the extracted Lollipop Nandroid in clockworkmod/backup of memory card from computer using card reader and put it back in phone.
3. Restore this Lollipop Nandroid from recovery.)
Anyway, within a few days, we'll be getting the 5.1 update in India. Why so hurry to see Lollipop??

Did u enable USB debugging in phone and install phone drivers in computer??
If u r sure about this, try this:
Code:

If u see a serial number listed in " Devices connected", then it means ur phone is properly configured for ADB.

Yeah debugging was on and my phone was in fastboot mode. I put the command "adb devices" the reply was "device connected successfully>list of devices connected" and then nothing. When putting the command "adb boot recovery.img" the reply was "waiting for devices" and no nothing happened. Tried this 4 times, did exactly as the video from the XDA root for micromax canvas a1 forum says.

[20.2.2015][Root and stay with stock recovery]

Hello Yu Yureka fans!!!
This for the Yu Yureka fans who want to root the phone but don't want to miss OTA update by flashing custom recovery
In this thread i will tell you how to ROOT your Yu Yureka without flashing custom recovery.
This method will not flash custom recovery over stock recovery, this will just boot the custom recovery once just to flash the superuser.zip. so you will be back to stock recovery after flashing superuser.zip.
So lets get started...
Your Bootloader should be UNLOCKED
Files you need:
1. adb and fastboot drivers
2. A CWM recovery link (don't worry we wont flash it, it is just needed to install superuser.zip)
3. Superuser.zip link (save this in your sd card or internal memory)
Note: Keep recovery.img file in the same folder where adb and Fastboot drivers are placed and always open command window from that folder.
Connect your phone to pc via data cable
Steps:
1. Open command window (cntl+shift+right click)
2. Type
Code:
adb devices
if your device is connected you will get it in connected devices
3. Type
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
4. Type
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1ebf boot recovery-yu.img
now your device will boot into recovery mode
5. Select install zip from sd and navigate where you have downloaded the superuser.zip and select install.
6. Done!!! Your device is rooted and you are still in stock recovery :good: you wont miss the OTA
To check if you are in stock recovery just reboot into recovery :good:
Hit thanks if this helped :good:

Thanks, will check. Although I downloaded the drivers just today, so not sure, how it is not up to date. Anyway, will check it once I am home in 3 hours.
tried resintalling the drivers. didn't help. command prompt still keeps on waiting for device forever, while phone is in fastboot mode.
Edit:
If I cancel the third command, and check the list again, phone is not listed. Somehow, after rebooting into bootloader, phone stops the adb connection.

Want to root Bootloader unlocked what next

I have unlocked bootloader of my desire 820u Indian version running on lollipop 5.0.2. Now I want to root it, I have twrp and su file also don't know how to proceed further. When I click on recovery a command window opens with Chinese language I don't know what to do next. I m having S-ON in fastboot mode and. Is it safe to flash custom recovery with S-ON? Plz help ?
Which custom recovery you have? Is it TWRP 2.8.7.0 with exe file format?
Then switch on your phone an turn on usb debugging mode and then go to security and turn on the "Unknown Sources" mode. Place SuperSU.zip file in sd card.
Switch off your phone and go to fastboot mode. Connect your phone with PC. And open command window and type "fastboot devices" -> It should be having some code like HT******** and device should be listed there. If it's showing waiting for devices, then you need to install the drivers for mobile and check it again. Now close the command box.
NOW
if you're having recovery.exe then just open the file and press any key while mobile is connected with PC. It'll flash the recovery automatically. When it'll end switch off the phone and go to recovery mode. then select install and find the supersu zip file and swipe it to flash.
And if you're having recovery.img then you need to download the fastboot folder (find it in other threads) and then place the recovery.img to the same folder. Now open the folder and press shift+right click-> open command window here. Then connect the phone in fastboot mode and check for fastboot device is connected or not. then type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
*Recovery file must be named as recovery and extension should be img. It should not be like recovery.img.img *
CONGRATULATIONS This will help you to root your phone.

Installing Twrp issue!

Hi Guy!
It's been a while since I've posted on here, last time was the HTC HD2 days, Remember that?!
Anyways I've started unlocking my LG G4 H815 after 2 years, 2nd motherboard and new screen. I've used the official route through LG and got to the TWRP installation and hit an issue.
I'm running the command prompt in adb installation path, using the latest version of TWRP which was renamed like the guide said. Using Windows 10 which gives all the drivers needed to allow the phone to be recognised when I type in "reboot bootloader".
Issue is when trying to install TWRP through command prompt "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.0.0-h815.img"
I get "invalid destination or file cannot be found" I've tried different files, checked I'm booting from the right place, IMG file is in ADB/fastboot folder also. Debugging and what not all enabled.
So I'm out of idea? Help
Dingo
You need a microsd card installed on the phone and a copy of twrp image on the microsd card - you can also add a copy of supersu zipfile if you want to install root
fastboot boot twrp-2.8.7.1-h811.img (phone itself boots TWRP)
from phone itself:
In TWRP hit Install > Images... (bottom right corner) > select TWRP.img on ext sdcard > select "recovery" > swipe for permanent install of twrp
for root: Hit the Home button > Install > select SuperSU zip on external sdcard > swipe
Reboot into Android. (if TWRP asks if you want to install SU, HIT NO!!!)
if you do not have an external sdcard to save SuperSU and the TWRP.img onto.. you will need to skip saving the files to sdcard until AFTER you fastboot OEM unlock and boot into TWRP. After fastboot booting TWRP you can use adb push to put SuperSU and TWRP.img onto the internal sdcard to install with TWRP. Or you can use the MTP mount option in TWRP and drag n' drop the files from the computer to the phone. You cannot store the files on the internal sdcard before the OEM unlock because OEM unlock wipes all your data.
These are for h811 g4 but should work fine for you, instructions can be found here:

i beleive win 10 gives problems and must use USB 2.0
Hi Cheers for replys,
Had an issue on Win7 where I couldn't make "android" drivers work, both LG usb and Google driver update failed miserably.
On the TWRP I've used the latest version and a previous version. Placed it within the ADB folder and on the SD card both came out saying , "invalid file destination or something like that" am I missing a command prompt for the phone to access the SD card?
Thanks Dingo88

It seems you really miss something. Read carefully. Fastboot flash will not work!
You just need to reboot into bootloader then using
fastboot boot twrp.img
Then you should see TWRP. Then you would flash TWRP from within TWRP. That's all described in the official install guide.
Btw: Exactly because of your problems with drivers etc I created FWUL ( https://tinyurl.com/FWULatXDA )..
The latest TWRP beta is 3.1.1 btw.

Hi Steadfaster, cheers for the reply.
Im definitely doing something wrong, im still at a loss.
I've unlocked the boot loader, followed by "adb reboot bootloader" which takes me into the bootloader.
Then with the lgg4-twrp.img placed in both the SD and ADB location I type "fastboot boot lgg4-twrp.img. I get no luck!
Pic attached! Apologies if your screaming at your screen!

Rename the downloaded twrp to twrp.img no dashes. and it has to be in the same folder where your adb exe is.

could be corrupted download verify md5 with latest 3.1.1 as named and downloaded using 61ed0c81afb750535bdb71dfb0298149 md5 key
then simplify things, rename file to twrp.img to avoid typing errors
