The Virtoba X5 Elite is fairly comfortable to wear. The padding around the face is quite soft.
The lenses are very good and clear. If the room is bright, then there is a little light bleed from around the edges. Overall very impressed with it for the cost.

Anyone have a Sony Smartwatch 2?

I currently have a Pebble and was wondering if the SW2 is worth the extra $40. Any compatibility issues with the Moto X?

The Sony SW2 works fine with the Moto X. I thought it was well worth the extra money compared to the Pebble. To me the Pebble looks like a toy compared the the SW2.

That's true and it's the main reason why I was thinking about getting one. But what's holding me back is the fact that the Pebble currently has slightly more functionality.
For example, on the SW2, you can't mark a notification as viewed on the phone, when checked on the watch. With the Notification Center app on the Pebble, you have the option to dismiss or keep phone notifications with your watch.
No issue with SW2 here
I have both. My SW2 is collection dust now that I bought a wide band replacement strap for my pebble.

Moto 360 vs Sony Smartwatch 3 Unboxing

Hi all,
Here is a video of me unboxing the Moto 360 and the Sony Smartwatch 3 which I received on the same day. http://youtu.be/0zLxA8hDQjA
I brought the two of them expecting there to be a clear winner for me (and sell the other). There was not and there still isn't. I prefer the backlit LCD screen of the 360, better blacks and viewing angles ect. But the Sony looks alot less conspicuous on my wrist. As I have dainty wrist this is a big issue for me. I love the wireless charger of the Moto and seeing as I have 4 other QI chargers at home, work and in the car I am not worried about running out of juice. I also like the Micro USB charging of the Sony as they can be found anywhere in the world, but it is a bit more fiddly to charge instead of just 'plonking' the watch down to charge.
The Sony has GPS and NFC built in as well as WIFI according to the white paper from Sony, although there is no use for it yet but I am sure there will be in the future. Although the Sony does not have a heart rate monitor. But my Samsung S5 does.
Long story short, I am keeping both. I will use the Sony for general day to day work but wear the Moto if going out. I will be changing the strap of the Moto as I hate the type of strap that comes with it. I will be fitting a stainless steel strap which will hopefully add a bit of weight as I found that both watches are allot lighter than I was expecting and prefer.
Any questions please feel free to ask.
thanks for the vid
have you had a chance to try out the GPS and blutooth music streaming(at the same time)?

Hi Dave
I have tried both, but not at the same time. Have you heard that there is an issue with it. If you have and you would like me to test it let me know.
Cheers

I am not sure if you know are aware, but Moto has just released 18mm versions of the 360 (as opposed to the original 23mm). I too have small wrists for a guy and I am quite intrigued by the 18mm version.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but moto have just released 18mm BANDS not watches. The watches are the same size 18mm is the width of the band
SW3 was on my alternative list, however, that screen looks ... Less than vibrant.

Moto Z Play Camera is Bad

I went from a Nokia 929 to the Moto Z Play and I really hate the camera on the Play.
Could I take a camera module from the Moto Z and put it in the Play since the phones are so similar?

I have S7 edge and Moto z play and love the pictures from the moto z play. The s7 makes all the pictures yellow shade.

I find it difficult to get clear pictures without the OIS that the Moto Z has, I really have to focus to hold my hands steady.

Yeah I have no issues with stabilization for pictures. And they turn out great without even trying to get a good shot
I'll agree, this camera blows. My Moto X Pure kills this thing. I go to lots of EDM shows, and the Z play constantly fights to focus, if at all, during video recording. Yet the Snapchat camera pulls video flawlessly, but the audio is ruined. Probably an issue with the stock camera software or the stock camera api. Just my two cents.
Agreed. There is also a sh*t tone of noise in photos...specially indoors. My lower budget grand 2 takes better photos.
It isn't.
Coming from a Samsung Note 4 the Z Play camera quality was a big concern for me. But actually it's better than the Note 4. Samsung applies way too much denoise and sharpening filters which you could see a lot in outdoor images with trees and so on. (Giving everything a "watercolor effect".) Of course they do not have so much noise on the other hand but images clearly lack of detail with Samsung software.
The Moto Z Play gave me more details compared to the Note 4 (which is the same module than Galaxy S5). Also low light is better. Overall for me quality was on par for example with the OnePlus three of my son.
The only thing I agree which is missing is the OIS. You really have to concentrate to hold the phone steady when taking HDR images. Without HDR I don't have issues though. On the other hand HDR images are really good to increase the images dynamic range.
I also switched to Snap Camera app (not to be confused with Snap from Lineage) which gives me a lot more options compared to the stock camera. There I completely disabled the denoise filter and lowered the sharpening filter to -2. This gave me even more details without sacrificing the Quality with to much noise. Beside this it has 4K Super Slowmotion and an enhanced HDR mode for really hard conditions.
I noticed that a lot of People judge the images only on the small phone screen and don't zoom in an look at the details. Also they expect images to perfectly come out with auto mode and not trying to play with the settings and optimize them.
Some images at full Resolution. Most of them were shot under not so ideal conditions but I think they are good espacially with the given conditions. Just click on the links below:
A lot of small details in this image which come out really well. Also the dynamic range and the colors are great I think.
Denoise disabled too, maybe a little to much sharpening. Therefore noise came out a little to much but nice details if you look at the meadow, trees and roof.
Optimized the sharpening filter a little.
A shot against the rising sun. You could still see details of the plants in the foreground.
Very dark - actually it was darker than it appears on the image:
how dare you
As I said, video recording=trash
Pictures I have no gripes about.
But with lots of lighting changes, LED boards, lazers, etc, camera won't focus for $}{!π and that's beyond annoying.

totally agree. Cameras of mobiles are not going to replace an SLR or even a good compact camera. Take it for snapshots or leave it.

Yea! Rightly said.
Motorola phones have always had bad to mediocre cameras. Little has changed. Everybody raves about the Pixel camera. I consider it ok. Nothing I've seen yet touches the LG cameras with the Sony sensor. Unfortunately you have to put up with phones that last between one month and one year.

I really want to know this. I have wondered the same thing.
I agreed with this phone the lack of ios its impossible to take pictures with good focus i tried to take pictures of my child's while playing but no success at all i came from a note 4 and for me the photos were great with the ios I'm planning to change to the s7 edge

The Z Play camera has an annoyingly slow autofocus, but you still can get nice pictures from time to time. The video-mode is total crap and completely unusable for the same autofocus-reason.

Can you make video of speed Test between Z PLAY and S7 EDGE and upload it on YouTube?
Will be AWESOME!
Wanted to chime in and say the Snap Camera app is a godsend for videos. Camera actually focuses, and stays focused. Tested last night at Deadmau5, through lasers, and flashing lights, perfect recording.
I really wish there was a way to just permanently disable "night mode" on the stock camera. I've had to go back to Open Camera for my photos because they almost never come out blurry. The stock camera changes to this mode with the slightest change of lighting and ends up just making the photos look like absolute garbage.

Z2 Play vs Z: which camera is best?

Did anyone compare the cameras of Moto Z2 Play and Moto Z (not "Z play" but "Z")?
I know Z2 Play has slightly better aperture and Z has optical stabilization. But what about how does this affect real shots?
Maybe someone has owned both and can share own view/opinion?
Many thanks!
I own both. I think the Z takes better pictures. I can post sample shots later if you want.

Thank you.
Not what you are looking for but I've had the z play and Z2 play. The z play camera sucked like most Moto cameras. The Z2 play is pretty decent. Still nowhere as good as an average LG or Galaxy phone but about like an HTC camera

I have had both Motorola and LG phones. My moto x style shot better video that almost any LG and the pictures are really good too. The only think that really suck is the lack of camera2api support, like and old 2003 phone.
I think when the cameras start getting under f2.0, the low light ability really improves. Although Moto Cameras have done ok under normal shooting, I found they fell apart really quickly in lower light. It's about time they improve that on the newer models. Truly I think Motorola, except for the camera, builds the best quality hardware. Only Blackberry built tougher stuff. I've seen Moto phones run over by trucks and slammed in doors and still work fine. LG phones tend to have bad boards, Samsung bad memory chips (ironic) and HTCs were often made from weak plastic parts. Just a general observation. There are exceptions everywhere. LG had those wonderful Sony image sensors.

Razer Phone is not Daydream Compatible... Why not?

Direct from the RazerZone.com website it states:
Is the Razer phone capable of virtual reality?
The Razer Phone does not support certain types of VR like Daydream, but can support Google Cardboard.

It seems like this would be the best phone for Google's Daydream platform with the enhanced 120Hz display, full 2K resolution for clarity, advanced heat dissipation, stereo speakers so no need for headphones. What gives? Anyone have any ideas because this frustrates me personally?

The Razer has an LCD Display (vs LED/OLED/AMOLED) which supposedly doesn't play nice with VR.
@Munk0
If root is achieved, looks like sideloading Daydream is possible :

Using Google Cardboard on the Razer Phone is the best VR experience I have had with any device including the Pixel XL (version 1 ), Nexus 6, Nexus 5x and OnePlus 5.
Plus the Nexus 5x uses an LCD and also works good for VR. Maybe it's the brightness levels not being as high? Either way Cardboard was super fluid and I got less motion sickness because of the fast refresh rate/head tracking.
What cardboard device did you use. I'm struggling to find one that fits. ?
