Hi all,
some Pixel users asked me to post this not only in the Pixel XL, but also in the Pixel forum. Not sure, if 2 forums for Pixel/ Pixel XL makes sense, but it also does not hurt anybody ...

Hey thanks for this! I actually picked this up and from the Pixel XL forum and applied it to my Pixel "L".
I've mentioned this a few times already in different threads, but I think if there was a way to type in the two URL's for the Pixel L and XL - kind of like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel+pixel-xl
that would be REALLY helpful because I've found useful info on each forum that wasn't on the other, and vice versa.
Also, great work! Thank you

So just for clarity, is this essentially a Tasker easy mode? What is the difference between using regular and pro? Just removing the ads? I've installed and will play with it more in depth tomorrow.

I like your app, I paid for the pro version, well worth the money.=)
I use it to enable sync so I can turn it on and off on demand without using a custom ROM.

Tasker is an automation app, so the general app purpose is different, but from a "fire activity X" point of view you are right (btw. you can easily combine Tasker and QuickTile via the QuickTile Broadcast activity)
Regular vs. Pro:
- Same Features, BUT the number of Tiles are limited (3 vs. 10) and the number of activities per tile (3 vs. no limit) are limited. So you can use each and every feature and test it via the regular version. I think, most people will never use more than 3 Tiles and more than 3 activities per tile.
- No Ads

Fantastic breakdown. I'm actually excited to give this a whirl.

@ascsa bro
Thanks alot for this fantastic app. Its works like a charm in my Unrooted One Plus 3 Nougat 7.0. U saved my Alert Slider button and volume button. Only two toggles missing is Screenshot and Reboot. I need root for that so no problem.. Once again thanks alot...

Thanks @ascsa,
I like this app a lot. There's one feature I would like to see or it may be more than one to accomplish it.
Sort of in line with the cycles part of the app, I'd like to be able to long press a tile and have it let me pick my action, say for instance in reboot, hold tile, select from list of options...Recovery,Bootloader,System, etc. Don't know if thats possible, but with the app long press menus it might be something to look into. The way the cycles thing works now unless Im misunderstanding it is that it will just go from one set of instructions to the other without giving you a choice.
Something else that would be nice would be the ability to convert any QuickTile to a widget so you could put it on the homescreen. Or a shortcut , that way you could put a few into a folder and pick your poison that way.
Otherwise a great addition to my Pixel.

Come to think of it I just installed WETA mod and should be able to access its reboot actions.

Yes, you understand the cycles correct.
Longpress and multiple tiles does not work nicely together and the app long press menus are something different. Currently i am not aware of any possibility to implement such a solution, but the API is new (and could change with future releases) and sometimes you can hack around restrictions. However, the overall use case (let users pick some action) is interesting and I have one or two ideas how to implement it, I will have a deeper look at it, eventually.
Widget and shortcut support is on my to-do list, but it´s not the apps main purpose ....
btw. I use a QuickTile as container for some rarely used activities : put your rarely used activities all into one tile, deactivate them (so they do not all fire when you fire the tile) and then you can fire a single activity via longpress the activity (run) in the quicktile app .... not the most user friendly approach, but I use this frequently.

Update 1.5.1
Update 1.5.1 is out in the wild now (--> Google Play)
Usually the Nexus (now Pixel?) devices, stock Android and SuperSu (for root) are my baseline for development.
In the past, a lot of manufacturer roms as well as custom roms implemented a lot of workarounds, non-standard APIs and even changed some of the standard APIs. It was, and still is, a support nightmare. However, the 1.5.1 update contains a compatibility mode for non-supersu root apps and fixes some of the horrible custom rom workarounds (looking at you, CM ). I certainly can not fix all the workaround and bugs in all custom (and manufacturer!) roms but 1.5.1 should fix at least some of the common ones. Especially the root activities should now work much more stable on CM.
Update 1.5.1
- Advanced custom rom support
- Minor tweaks and fixes

Got my OnePlus3, missing features...

Hi,
Just switched on OP3 from OPOne.
Actually, a bit disappointed, as some very good app and features are missing in OP3, namely:
- dialer is not integrated with TrueDialer. That option was available in the latest version on OPO, very useful.
- no User Profiles feature, also used a lot
- after removing google search bar can not move any icon on that free space, bug?
Any suggestions, how to handle these issues?
Other then that pretty interesting and decent phone.
Thanks!
Yup it this issue also in my op3
u can download true dialer u can pm me for an apk
i use in place of the real dialer with no issues
about the launcher, u can use Nove Launcher in place of also, it is a great launcher, i use google now card instead of the search bar

Yeah, the integrated TrueDialer is no longer an option, but you can download the app and set as default dialer. I side loaded the Google dialer, which is working perfectly. I absolutely love the Google ID function.
There is an ability to have User accounts. It's in the system settings. Not sure if this is what you're referring to?
And not sure about the Google search bar empty space either. I use Nova. Lol.
True Dialer and profiles are Cyanogen features, not specific to the OPO. I find the one plus launcher limited also so I use Nova launcher.
What is the best app for profile switcher? The one in OPO was pretty handy, even though with some bugs.
I also use nova, and plan to use it on my OP3 when it arrives, and I really detest TrueDialer. It was a piece of bloatware of Cyanogen, so I'm glad I don't have to remove it and replace it with the AOSP dialer, so glad to know it's gone
About the profiles, I didn't use them that much, but I guess we'll need to check the settings as js said.

Screenshot App like Capture Plus from LG

Hello All! I currently own an LG V20 and am getting the Pixel XL in February (allegedly). One feature I will need a proper replacement for is the Capture+ app. If you have never used it, it essentially allows you to easily capture partial screenshots with ease. It pulls up four "handles" in the corners of a rectangle, and defaults to a full screenshot size. However, you can move the handles smoothly and quickly to form a smaller rectangle and any spot you'd like on the screen. It was much like the Note 5/7 in that you can get screenshots of only pertinent parts of the screen.
I believe in LG, it's a system app that cannot be downloaded. I'm fine with it being a normal app I need to pull out from the app drawer to accomplish this, but I cannot find any apps that do something similar. Does anyone know of any apps that do this? Any other suggestions for quickly getting partial screenshots? Maybe the Pixel XL has something built into it that I'm not aware of...?
Can't speak for LG, but I'm missing this feature too coming from a Note 4. Since getting this phone I am forced to take full screenshots only, even though most times I needed a small portion only. Would really like to know if there's an app or something for this.

What was it called in the Note? Like "Smart Capture" or something? That was really handy. LGs implementation is possibly even better. Both have their pros and cons.

Yes, Smart Select.
So I found a couple that are sort of nice... Not perfect but will do the trick for now. One is free. One is a paid app. Unfortunately, the paid one is much slicker (comes with 48 hour trial). I attached a screenshot with the two apps shown on my home screen.
Screenshot Crop and Share (Free)
Screen'it (Paid)
Other exciting screenshot capture options

I too wanna port of an app called "Smart Select"【https://youtu.be/OWcAeMXUuS4】 in Samsung S8 which can capture a small rectangular portion, capture in different shapes (predefined or using lasso tool), LONG CAPTURE and a GIF CAPTURE with various pro editing options.
If someone finds any app with all the above features, please reply!!!
48 hour trial would be worth it.
I know you can edit your screenshot and crop after, but be interesting to see what people find/recommend for a non native app
For those unaware, you can do this in Lineage without an app. Just add enable screenshot option in the power menu and then long press it and it will let you drag and select an area to screenshot.

The thing about the Samsung version of it is that the selection area let's you reposition then capture. Also has settings to share directly and cancel without saving. I believe right now the rom that does this natively is RR. It even scales the whole screen down so you don't have to drag to the very edge.
Did anyone ever find out about or port this app

Scheduled Do Not Disturb

Can't seem to find the option. HTC allows multiple schedules and Samsung has one. The only option I found was Gaming Do Not Disturb.
Any idea?
The slider on the left side of your phone is where OnePlus has put the do not disturb. They have decided to use that instead of the android scheduled DND. I have submitted a customer service response asking to include the scheduled DND, in my opinion, the only thing keeping this from being the perfect phone for me.

Totally agreed.
I got an app from the play store, we will see if it will work. I will let you know
The app 'do not disturb' by cabooz software works perfectly. Auto off at 10 and all on at 7. I now have the perfect device for me for now.
I have also been using the Do Not Disturb app for a few days and it seems to be working fine. Shame that we need an app to do something that Android does natively.
The software overrides the slider button, which is perfect.
One plus should bring back the native scheduled DND back in next update
I'm on testing this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aiuspaktyn.nodisturb&hl=pl
Written by oneplus official forum member, hope this will work. No native DND is big disadvantage.

TS, sounds like my story. Coming from am HTC 10, and their phones for 8yrs now, was surprised to not find this basic feature.
Of course, their idea is auto Off/On schedule instead. But most people want a vibrate override for some things at night, like alarms in the AM etc. They need to put this feature back.

How To - Use LG's built-in FM Radio Apps Secret Recording Feature

*Update/Edit* I've been informed that this radio mod is still possible to do (as of December 2022) however you will now most likely need root privileges for Shortcut Master to access the necessary hidden menus. /Oops Edit pt2. Props to @aospray & @br0adband for revealing this new hurdle & bringing it to my attention.
Greetings all. I am sharing this brief little How-to Guide for anyone that wants to expand the functionality of LG's FM tuner to include the ability to Record directly from the FM radio. You will have the option to record only songs using the apps hidden "Record Music Only" option, or you can record a stations full broadcast including commercials and on air talk.
First a quick side note:
*Since different variants of the V30 include the LG FM radio App while others include NextRadio and so on, for the sake of brevity I am going to assume anyone reading this already has LG's FM radio app on their phone and it is functioning. Depending on your Variant, ROM, and a couple other factors, this may not be the case for you, but maybe you are reading this and now you want this expanded functionality so you will need to download and install the FM radio app if it is not preinstalled on your device.
If you you need to add the FM radio app to your device, you can check out this thread by @rustypie below with some different dl links and a flashable zip made by @syndre or do some searching on the forum as well as on apk sites and I am sure you will find the right method and APK for your variant. (I am using the regular download of the newest version of the app that I dl'd from apkmirror)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/themes/lg-fm-radio-app-download-verizon-v30-t3689294
What you need:
- LG V30 (any variant, or any phone that can run the LG FM radio app)
- LG's FM Radio Application installed on your device ( I am using 7.10.8 on my device, but I had this working on the older versions of 7.0.16 and 4.70.9, so it should work regardless of which one of the apps work on your specific variant/device)
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/lgelectronics/lg-fm-radio/
- Shortcut Master (Paid or Lite version)
https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=shortcut+master
I am including pictures to make this easier for people, so please check them out to aid you in getting this accomplished.
Step 1 - Open Shortcut Master and use the menu at the top right to do a search. After you click search, make sure your select "all apps" from the drop down menu so that it searches your whole phone. Search for "FM Radio".
You should see similar results to those in my attached picture. You are looking for the entry with subtext of "com.lge.fmradio.recordactivity". Click on this and press launch.
*You may want to click "favorites" or "homescreen" to make this easier to access in the future. The app will not retain this preference after use and will always revert back to the version without recording functionality, so having a link in shortcut master or on your homescreen makes it easier to get back to .
Step 2 - Pressing launch in Shortcut Master should have opened your FM radio app. You will now see two things that were not there before. One is a record button on the main screen of the app, and the other is in the recording settings menu in the menu of FM app. If you want to record exactly what you would hear on the radio, simply press the record button and let it record. If you want to record only music and not the commercials and djs, go into that new recording settings menu and enable "record music only".
That's it, You are now able to record all you would like until you close the app. Next time you open the app it will revert back to the old UI, so you will have to repeat the steps if you want to record again later.
Enjoy

It's free, doesn't use mobile data plan. In emergencies when WiFi and cell phone outages may occur, FM radio can still be there.
Hi, wow, great find. Sometimes I am listening and I will hear something that I want to download but I know I will forget it by the time I get home.
The "record only music" feature is a bit limited though although clever.
If music is already playing it just says waiting for music so you have to wait for that track to finish, then it has to recognise talking (somehow) before it will record.
If you do not check and miss the "waiting for music" message and the track just started then you wont get it recorded.
Even so, click to record is really useful for me.

This is neat, just to play around with. The one thing I can't figure out, though, is why does only THAT shortcut app show the recordActivity? I've tried at least 10 so far, including Nova Launcher's built-in activity launcher, and all of them only show FM Radio's introActivity. What strange magic makes his work?! the lite version's limitation is not being able to save that activity as a homescreen shortcut.

Shortcut Master is definitely one of my favorite apps. That said, you can seriously mess your phone up though. Like really badly. Just a warning. And not like the usual just in case kind of warning, but a legit guarantee that if you go poking around enough you almost definitely will screw something up that you may need a restore or full redo to fix.
I had considered starting a Shortcut Master thread, and half heartedly did a while back, but I called it something like LGV30 tweaks and mods discussion. I didn't follow up with a shortcut Master section just out of fear a hundred people would ruin their phone but maybe I'll start one now if there is interest, since the Pandora's box is already kind of opened with it being part of most of the V30 guides I've done.
There is a surprising amount of stuff that only this app seems to get to. The paid version is well worth the buck ot two just for convenience sake and I'd normally say buy it to support further dev, but I think the developer is retired as I haven't seen an update or anything new in a while other than him taking the lite version off the play store last year, but still worth supporting his previous efforts.
Shortcut Master is great for accessing the hidden system menus such as your APN presets and all of the sections of the phone that are blocked off of the specific build your on.
Some of my faves are:
The hidden section of the systems built in Call recording screen.
-For anyone that modified their LGIncallUI to allow recording, this setting will let you track specific numbers or tell it to record all calls.
The extra hidden menu items that Sprint trys to get rid of.
(You'll notice in the pics there is the Hidden menu, and the carrier hidden menu. The Carrier one has access to a bunch of stuff removed.)
Your built in Bluetooth settings page that LG for some reason doesn't allow you to access.
AT&T's video call settings (these don't actually VCs work on Sprint)
And quick access to the Radio Info section
I'm attaching a couple pics for anyone that may be interested in some of what I just mentioned.
But one more time, you are all seriously warned! Know that you will mess your phone up just aimlessly clicking around.
I legitimately ruin my phone at least once a week and have to do a full reflash or restore. I am actually past due for one now, as I've managed to screw up something and now my settings force close when I try and enter developer options. So again, you are WARNED!
Have fun.

It should work with any device that can already run the Radio app since it's all built into the app, and is just hidden. So if you were able to get the apk to install and work on your HTC I don't see why it would not.
If you have issues you may be able to use "XML a road to vendor apps" module ( I think that's what it's called) on your HTC to get it to install the LG Radio app. Just a guess though.

Most phones meant for market outside the US have FM . This feature was removed or turned off by US carriers to enable users to use data to maximize their profit. As a preference it is a feature I put into consideration when purchasing a smart phone except if I have no option despite the fact that I have unlimited data. I just refuse to accept that I have to use data to listen to FM stations around me. I do not consider a phone as an upgrade when a carrier or or a manufacturer remove basic functions from the phone.

It's free, doesn't use mobile data plan. In emergencies when WiFi and cell phone outages may occur, FM radio can still be there.

WELL SAID !! :good::good:
Has anyone had this not work because it appears to require root? I realize that there's no mention of requiring root at all in this thread, so I decided to give this a shot on my V30 just now. installed the latest LG FM Radio app (7.10.8), installed Shortcut Master (paid, forgot I even bought it in the past, go figure), and followed the instructions as written but of course - and my V30 is not rooted at the present time - it's telling me it requires root to even start the FM Radio app with the shortcut (using Launch).
The FM Radio app works fine, but whenever Shortcut Master calls it I get the following so if anyone has any tips to get it functional I'd appreciate it, thanks.
ps
I did a complete clean install of US99820h on my V30 earlier today and for some strange reason now when it's in Hi-Fi DAC mode (I have ~50 Ohm headphones) I've apparently lost the single-step volume control, dammit - now it's jumping 5 steps each time, 35, 40, 45, etc, instead of 30, 31, 32, and so on. Funny how a clean install can sometimes break so many things, eh?
Later Edit:
The reason I'm having issues with the single-step volume is because I'm using Button Mapper so I can skip audio tracks using the volume buttons; it's overriding the defaults of the volume controls for the most part. It has some advanced options to disable the functionality when the volume panel is showing onscreen (meaning I get the single-step control again but the first tap skips 5% regardless), and with the screen off it doesn't provide any single-step control whatsoever, kinda crappy but that's how it goes. I wish phone makers would just include the option to skip tracks with long presses by default, make it an option you can enable. BLEH.
Final Edit:
I decided to do a clean everything last night, started totally fresh, from scratch, and do everything one step at a time, got it all working just fine and with Magisk 19.2 installed I was able to get the recording aspects working too with the LG FM Radio app so, I'm good to go.
From your last edit, you are rooted now? Was that the solution?

S10 Customization Guide v2 [No Root]

This guide was designed for S10 series, but the majority of the Guide of course is applicable to all android Pie devices as if based on apks and adb debugging, you shall test at your own desire. For adb debugging to be enabled, go to: About Phone > built number > tap until you unlock "developers option" go back and and inside "developers options" enable "adb debugging" from there.
First and foremost, I would like to express how I am amazed with the level of customization you can do without root on a Samsung nowadays, as I've been an android/samsung user for quite some time its really something to consider.
Okay, now lets cut the chase. What I really did is to put together different applications, tips and miscellaneous information together in order to achieve what I felt the most customized Device possible without root and that I think lots of users could still absorve all or at least part of this guide in their own devices.
1) First, what I did what to go through the Battery Optimisation Guide by @Corv0, which honestly speaking led me to an average of 9-10 SoT.
1.1 Even though people talk alot how they liked OneUI I cant change from Nova Launcher, its simply the ultimate Launcher experience. I recommend getting the prime version, totally worth it and you get it for life.
1.2. If you are used to Adway, you know we can't live anymore without it, but in times without root, Blokada is for me the best alternative. I also found it better and more stable than Adhell and does not need key update every now and then, thats lame!
2)If you like music and once used Ressurection Remix roms, you must have fallen in love with Pulse music bar. It simply reinvigorates the navigation bar. As an alternative I must suggest the well known Navbar app. For me its a must to change navigation bar color and enable their music visualizer.
3) If you once used xposed in a samsung, you might remember the Samtweak, and now you can have it in Pie without the need of root with great function like 180 degrees reverse (which I find very useful when using headphone jack so it does not bother you against the chest for instance), volume warning, navigation and status bar hide, etc
4) Another must in S10 plus is to use Button Mapper. Some may talk about Bixby Action app, but Button mapper is the ultimate deal with many more options, check video link.
5) Okay this is more of a personal preference, which is my case I can say: sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't. If you didn't like/ didn't get used to the front camera cutout I strongly suggest to use Status Bar and change status background color to black. I find it do the job of hiding the front camera pretty decent and improved a lot indoor and low light experience as you cant see the cutout almost never.
6) Last (so far) but not least important, if of course the installation and usage of Nice Lock (for the ones without access to Good Lock). I think we may can it as an official customization app for samsung devices. It almost made me remember Rice tweaks app. I personally like to use 7.1) Task Changer mod to change recent apps back to vertical. 7.2) Navistar to fully customize the navigation bar with different icons and 2 more buttons. The rest I didn't really use it but I suggest you install them all and see what's useful to you.
I will record a video and post it here (probably tomorrow) to show all these changes and tweaks I did and how they actually appear on my device.
------- v2 (April 26th):
Actually these are "tweaks" I had already done before v1 but simply forgot to mention on the original post however to keep things in order I will continue the numbering:
7) Bloatware removal, this is another must you have to do, specially when talking about samsung, with is known for the amount of apps its included from stock. And within this link you can easily do it through adb shell. Big thanks to @Neo3D for this amazing guide.
7.1) Once you "debloat" your device, make sure you deinstall/deactivate youtube standard version as well, and install the well known and amazing Youtube Vanced (Non Root version of course). In addition, set it as standard so it will be fully integrated to the links.
Well those are my suggestions for the customization of s10 without root (so far). If you have more tips please comment down below.
Video is up, check comment for exact cue by "tweak": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_giH6O6-Pdo
Great guide for the S10 XDA gang! Kudos
Nice guide.

Doesn't bloat removal cause more battery drain? I mean when the phone tries to find a certain package and cannot it is starting to heat up and etc
I started out early in the process and I was able to get Adhell running .... Seems like maybe my battery was worse after Adhell. Wondering if you guys thought, based on this guide, I should get rid of Adhell and go more this direction (for ad blocking and app/bloatware freezing) ?

I tried both and found blokada much more stable. You can try and compare yourself, its way easier to install and get it running as well.
Also, using Blokada and it works well...
