USB 2.0 vs USB 3.1 Type C cable - LG V20 Accessories

Now I have several Type C cable including two 3.1 (Belkin and Anker) cable.
All charge fine, but I realized 3.1 cable has problem on file transfer (computer cannot recognize), but all 2.0 type C cables work 100%.
It's probably H918 isn't compatible with USB3.1.
---- update ----
Install latest USB driver fixed the problem

My opinion.
The phone only works with USB2.0

I can confirm. However USB 3.1 cables work for transfers in TWRP.

I figured out why.
Make sure you have latest USB driver.
If you have LG Bridge, update to the latest driver.
If you installed LG United Driver, make sure it's 4.2.0

After updated the driver, both 2.0 and 3.1 cable work properly.

I have 4.1.1 and it won't recognize my USB 3 cables, both from Anker... well, it won't recognize properly if I choose file transfer, but it works fine if I choose picture transfer or use them on USB 2.0 ports. any suggestions?

Try LG Bridge
BTW, the latest United Driver version is 4.2.0

Some crap with windows. It took me hours but I finally was able to get the usb 3.1 cable to transfer files. I couldn't tell you what I did though. It wasn't drivers though. It was all windows.

Is there any difference in charging times between USB 2.0 and 3.1, if you're using a type-C QC3.0 power adapter?

I'm also interested in this. I don't think there should be a difference.

Update Xperia S via USB 3.0

Hey,
I have been looking on the internet for this for hours, no solution found, but found a lot of people with this problem.
My laptop (windows 8) only has USB 3.0 ports, no USB 2. Appearently it seems to be impossible to update a Sony phone via computer by connecting it to a USB 3.0 port. During the process, the phone shuts down automatically, and when it reboots, it is no longer recognized by the computer (it should reboot in flash mode, but it doesnt). I've tried both PC Companion and Sony Update Service, both give the same result.
The solution I did find on the internet was: try connecting via USB 2. I dont really have another computer available, tried it on someone else's laptop, which was a very old one, this gave me an error, probably because of other problems with the laptop.
My question is, is there ANY other way to make this update work via USB 3? And preferably a way that is understandable for someone with minor knowledge about the technical aspects involved
Thanks
My laptop has 3 USB 3.0 Ports and 1 USB 2.0 port. I've been always using my Xperia Ion with the USB 3.0 port and it works fine with flashtool as well. Try a different cable.

Oh... thats nice (for you). However, it doesnt work for me, with neither usb port, as is the problem for a lot of other ppl appearently...
I only have 1 cable, so cant try another one, the cable is not the problem though I guess. Since in all cases the cable works fine and the phone is recognized by the computer, except at the moment it should reboot in flashmode when reconnectint it to the laptop (during updating). Googling the problem yields alot of ppl having this problem, only nowhere a clear solution...
I've been trying to go through the update process for 10 times now, just doesnt work

USB 3.0 problem

for some reason when I connect my usb 3.0 cable to my note 3 the option to use 3.0 mode on the phone is gone. It was working before. Now when i connect I click on "more usb options' and the box that says use 3.0 is now gone. I tried reboot and made sure my usb was connected to 3.0 port on computer. Also tried reinstalling drivers. Anyone else have this issue?

You shouldn't have to swipe or do anything like that. When you use the 3.0 cable, you should get 3 options. Reinstall kies for the note 3.

This device can perform faster

I get the following error message when plugging the LG G3 (D851) into one of my USB 3.0 ports:
This device can perform faster
This LGE Mobile USB Composite Device can transfer information if you connect it to a Super-Speed USB 3.0 port.

The port it's connected to is a Super-Speed USB 3.0 port. I have an external HDD that is correctly connected via SuperSpeed and used the same port. Though when the G3 is connected, it only connects as High-Speed.
I have the latest drivers from LG as well.
(I'm using USB Device Tree Viewer to verify this info)
Is it possible to connect this device via SuperSpeed?
Pretty sure the device itself only supports USB 2 so seems a weird message to get

Ok, from reading that other thread, it seems like the phone (and all Android phones) are only "2.0 High-Speed".
It seems weird I'd get that popup complaining about the ports, but I guess that's just windows.

A question regarding USB OTG

Hello.
I bought this OTG cable and it arrived today. My D855 is on stock 5.0 and usb debugging is turned on. I tried inserting a USB 3.0 pendrive, but it doesn't get recognized in the stock file manager. Am I doing something wrong or what? Do I need to download ES File Explorer? If possible, I'd prefer not rooting or placing custom ROMs on the phone as it's my dad's.
Yes it should work just out of the box, anyway, here are some steps that can do for you case,
1. That Otg Adaptor is for USB 2.0, it should normally work even for USB 3.0. (USB 2.0 has a 4 pin connector, where USB 3.0 has a 5 pin connector.)
Usually USB 3.0 devices are retrocompatible with 2.0, as you can see in the pins there are 4 pins at the beggining and 5 pins through the end.
So my advice is this, try another 2.0 just to be sure.
2. Usb debugging is not necessary, actually it can cause problems, better disable it
3. Use a file manager, Es file explorer used to be great, today not that great but still does it job

Galaxy A5 2017 USB 3.0 support

I have a replacement cable.
I tried plugging in my device in my laptop using USB 3.0 port but it only charges my phone, it doesn't detect the MTP to transfer files. But when I tried plugging it in in the USB.. 2..0 port, MTP works.
My question is, is this because of the cable? Or is the A5 not supported by USB 3.0?

Mine works on a USB 3.0 port.
USB 3.0 should be backwards compatible to USB 2.0, so I think it's the cable. Maybe you could try again on a different pc? Just to be sure.
If you're using Windows check your device manager to see what it says, maybe a specific usb driver is needed?
i have same problem.
many time ago my phone (A5 2017) recognize with my laptop but after some update its not recognize in laptop but detect in office PC.
i do some work like change windows , reinstall add driver, use linux but not work in laptop. its now just work with one PC in office and other PCs not work. (
