I don't have enough information about the difference but my device was on SPR and now it changed to XAS.
No thing is different except that Yellow sprint logo changed to Samsung logo and some csc features changed.
My device still working.
I think maybe if any subscriber of sprint network could notice a little more changes.
Since I am not a Sprint subscriber so I don't notice any difference.

They are they same except for csc settings.
SPR will give you sprint branding and csc.
XAS will give you regular samsung branding.
If your using your phone global or gsm like me, I prefer XAS.
I notice most apps that unlock your sim will make it XAS to. So I believe xas sets csc to work better unlocked but don't quote me.

Did it remove that annoying hands free activation???

Which should world or GSM user choose;Sprint or XAF Samsung Note 4 firmware versions?
Hi, am a world/ GSM Note for user. My firmware keeps requesting for update just 60 seconds after prior update. My present software is SPR. My phone heavily discharge and i feel as incriminating the present firmware version and its regular demand for firmware update.
Someone, proposed i download and flash up my phone with latest firmware. At SamMobile, there are options for Sprint and XAF versions of firmware. Please anyone with an advice on selection choice and maybe a little comment.

Still there on the XAS version.

And for the boot sound it has the Note 3/ S4 version instead of the normal S5/Note 4 one.

Is it possible to do that? I'm in the same boat.

Yes it's possible but we need to flash on top our (tmobile) kernel.
I also can't find our tmobile frimeware tar (for odin in case of bootloop)
Damn....booooooring
Hmm I'm downloading the TMO firmware from SamsungUpdate to start, but it's gonna take another 6 hours because of their metered connection -_-.
We'll see how that works out, but ideally I'd be 100% debloated and rooted with Samsung Pay working.
Don't think that'll be possible, but at least we're dealing with unlocked bootloader devices haha

any lucks for the SM-G928C ?
My edge plus is already on 5.1.1 - why the desire to download the same version of firmware from another country? Maybe I'm missing something...
That's not new
Guys, the phone is running great!
Updating for the sake of updating isn't always a good thing when out of the box it's actually working well!
When a device has problems there are threads everywhere of complaints. When a device works things are quiet usually with just the usual how to question. Of course everyone wants root, when it comes it comes. Be patient!

I do not believe you have to do anything.
While yes, both are version 5.1.1, if you look at the last 4 digits of your firmware build number you should see AOGD. The new firmware build number ends in AOH2, showing this is a newer build date. Nothing major, probably just a few under the hood changes, which usually means a liitle better performance.

what about the root-ability?
If you are rooted on an older firmware, and you flash a stock rom via Odin you will lose your root access. So long as your phone model can be/is rooted on your current firmware, after you flash the newer firmware just follow the same steps to root your phone again.

Need help on Galaxy Note 2 N7105

Hi Guys,
I have switching roms in these few months. Recently, I tried to use back the stock rom N7105XXUFOB2. Everything went normal until I found 2 problems:
1. imei is blank with /01 when typing *#06#, but baseband was shown and I can still get the network. (My mistake for not backing up the efs folder)
2. GPS not found, tried with google map and waze but same issue. Tried with gps status also to no solution. (No satellite at all)
Then, I went for customs rom, GPS works and network works as per normal but with imei blank and baseband display. Anyone got idea on how to resolve it?
Appreciated if anyone can help.
Where did you get the stock ROM? Is that the latest stock ROM for the phone?
I found these stock ROMs: https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?exact=1&q=GT-N7105

I have forgotten where I downloaded it. But definitely not sammobile as it requires user login.
Below is the version I use.
PDA/AP Version: N7105XXUFOB2
CSC Version: N7105OLBFOD1
MODEM/CP Version: N7105XXUFNI2
Region: Singapore (singtel)
Are you saying that the stock rom I am downloading is not genuine or somehow corrupted?
Is that possible that imei blank, baseband still around and mobile signal works as per normal? Because I am facing it. lol.
By the way, in 4.4.2, is there anyway to do screen mirroring to samsung tv? Firstly, it mentions 'Unable to Start Screen Mirroring because of Hardware Issues'. Then I checked online and edit build.prop file by adding in “wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable“. Then the hardware issue quote is gone but the tv screen is blank.
I would flash the latest stock ROM from updato.com.
I'm not sure how you can get any cell or data service from your carrier without success valid IMEI.

Ya, it is very weird. But just to confirm again. If I reflash the rom from the website you mentioned, Is that possible to fix the blank imei issue? I think it is going to be 50-50.
I have tried googled this issue, I found some said to change imei using mtk tool, does it apply to galaxy note 2 as it mentioned works for Mediatek devices and not sure about others?
Just a friendly reminder that XDA does not permit any discussions related to changing an IMEI.
Flashing the latest stock ROM will sometimes being back the IMEI.

Understood. I found the same rom in updato, just wonder why some roms with same android version but different pda version so late? (Eg, France (Orange) (FTM), N7105XXUFQH1, 4.4.2- 17 Sept 2017)
Is it just because the rom is being updated late in updato?
Different ROMs for different regions and carriers. Not all ROMs have the same languages too.

Understood and thanks for your explanation. For stock firmware, do you have problem doing screen mirroring to smart TV?
Unfortunately, I can't comment on mirroring because I haven't had a Samsung phone for a while.

Oh I see, never mind then.
The problem on the stock firmware is that manufacturer has already abandoned the phone. Therefore, many apps have been discontinued and that's why the screen mirroring is not working. But I trully love the stock camera app compared with custom rom. :crying:
Now I'm using custom rom and will continue monitoring first.
Anyway, thanks again.
I think the note 2 has decent hardware and could probably run 6.0 with no problem but Samsung would sell fewer phones

Ya, you are right. I am not using custom rom resurrection remix nougat version. The camera is not as smooth as the stock camera which is sad for me. My wife did complain to me that the phone with this rom was lagging, which led me to back to stock firmware.
But now I am back to same rom so far is ok, only that I need to make sure the phone can run smoothly and I will be happy to use it. Cheers.

Stock ROM Questions

Hi!
I'm having some doubts while trying to see which version of the Stock ROM should be installed depending on the model.
For example, I own the SM-G960F (European Model as far as I know), so when I look for all the Stock ROMs available I just look for the baseband to match with mine (based on my experience with previous devices). I've seen there's two different options on the website I use to this purpose : G960FXXU2 and G960FXXU4.
On my last device, I just had to look to the first 7 digits to match, but here they're talking about U2 and U4 baseband and I don't know what it means. An explanation would be appreciated as well as telling what constraints exist when flashing a Stock ROM.
Sorry for my bad english

^^^^ no worries man ^^^^
usually the baseband increase is just indicating a revision or iteration update that has security patches updated and so forth. More often than not, you cant go back to a previous version once you odin flash a newer one. Unless there is something that has drastically changed between those two versions (which i doubt) id just go ahead and flash the newer one

The region of the Stock provided in that website is DBT, although I live in Spain which is PHE, does it matter? (even when the first baseband numbers are the same)

shouldnt matter much, if at all. most of the region locking applies to the usa from what i understand. Only difference that might pop up is the radio firmware and the bands it has for LTE

unlocked firmware with carrier CSC?

I've got an N975U1 (i.e., US unlocked N10+) on T-Mobile. Sometimes new firmware for that model is not released OTA by T-Mobile, so I flash the XAA version manually. But if I understand correctly, I lose some features that way (e.g., VoLTE and RCS).
But if I were to flash a new firmware version using that version's BL ,AP, and CP files, but with a TMO CSC file taken from a previous firmware version (when the new firmware hasn't yet been released with the TMO CSC), would that work? And would it give me the missing TMO features?
If the answers are yes, then also, if I flash a subsequent firmware version using HOME_CSC (to keep my settings etc.), would I still keep all the TMO features at that point?

You only loose the built in video calling in the dialer. VoLTE and RCS should work just fine.. T-Mobile is rather friendly towards bring your own devices and allowing access to all the features the network offers. This is in contrast to AT&T that provisions things like VoLTE (and other features) to devices they sell via a whitelist of IMEI numbers.

That will not work. You can't mix and match pieces of previous firmware versions with current firmware versions.

I just checked and the dialer does have a video-call icon. There's no setting anywhere for VolTE/HD-voice, so I'm not sure if it's enabled. I haven't tried RCS.

Ok, thanks. Just for future reference, is there any other method for changing the CSC in order to obtain carrier-specific features with the unlocked firmware?

Sorry, was typing the reply on my phone and the auto complete chose the wrong word.
No toggle will be present in the settings menu for VoLTE as it is automatically enabled. If you place a call and your data stays on LTE then your good to go. RCS should be available if your using Google Messages.
Not that I know of outside of flashing the USERDATA and CSC for the carrier in question. At that point you might as well run the N975U firmware for the carrier. If your going to flash the CSC or USERDATA from T-Mobile make sure it's the same firmware version as what your trying to flash with the U1 firmware.
I just got done changing my CSC from xar to att to get the latest on my unlocked note 10+, no issues here

Yup, but the problem is that T-Mobile seems to lag in releasing new firmware, both for N975U and N975U1. That's why I've been flashing the N975U1 firmware manually.

I just removed my SIM, rebooted, changed it by *#272*IMEI#, checked for updates, there were actually two coming from XAR to ATT. Once the last update was done I just put my SIM back in and the phone rebooted on its own to change back to XAR. No wipe, no loss of any data. hope this helps!

Noob Question about note 10+ version

Hi everyone hope you're doing excellent I bought a note 10 plus on november last year suddenly I stopped receiving OTA updates this have at&t logos but its unlocked already I work at an airline and I'm not using at&t sim card since I bought the phone and even with my country's sim card I received ota updates.
I was wondering if its possible to flash it to android 10 currently the phone is running android 9 but when I connect it to the pc smart switch says phone is up to date, same happens when I verify software updates from the phone.
Baseband version: N975USQU1ASGO
My questions are:
- Can I flash the phone using any of the android 10 firmwares in the forum? or do I have to make sure it will be compatible with some specific versions?
- If I flash the phone it will it still be unlocked?
thank you.
Don't know.
I would leave it on Pie; stable, fast and well behaved.
Scope storage and the trouble it may cause hasn't been dragged out into the sunlight yet... plus the older apks it probably will break that have no replacement.
If you do load Q let us know what you think.

Possible, yes ... if it's desirable only you can determine after acknowledging de pros and cons of the upgrade. As @blackhawk pointed out, there are some caveats to be considered. Nevertheless please be advised that this is your decision and none here can be responsible for mistakes or misfortunes that may occur. It's all on you.

The above question has more than an answer:
a) The firmwares available in the forum are for rooted devices so the answer is NO. None firmware available here is fitted for you present setup (the "but" comes later)
b) Yep ... you have to keep compatibility of your hardware with the firmware you flash. Your devide is a N975U so you shall restrict only for the respective family.
And now comes the "but" ...
The firmwares in the below list shall fit your hardware. They are official Samsung releases for the hardware you've mentioned.
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/SM-N975U/USC/
The above list was filtered only with USA (No carrier) options because, as you've said, it's unlocked.
The complete list is @ https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/#SM-N975U and it contains the carrier locked ones too.
You will have to search and read about "flashing with odin". To speed up the download use Samfirm after reading some howtos about it too ... https://samfirmtool.com/
