[Q] Dark Display??

Hey everyone,
I just tried both the stable cm10 and the new PA roms (didn't know my phone could work that fast!!!) and the only problem I have seen so far is with very dark pictures. It seems as if there is a mis-calibration with the screen but can't figure out how to change it. Changing brightness settings for the device doesn't do anything as it isn't an led error but more an interpretation error.
Has anyone else noticed this???
fyi I came from a cm9 rom but I can't remember which one...
Thanks
~~edited title to better reflect the issue. It affects the whole display (including home screen)
~~downloaded and tested Screen Adjuster and it works by upping the rgb values by about 20-30% however it causes tremendous slow down of the system. Still just wondering why such a difference in screen display between a cm9 build and both jelly bean builds that I tried.
Thought I would add a pic so you can see the difference. The displays used to show pretty much the exact same pic and now you can see how much darker the one on the phone is.
Thanks again for any help, always appreciated!
Never mind. I reflashed the rom and did NOT install the ns4g modem mod and that corrected the issue. At a guess it was the voodoo color that caused the difference but I don't know enough to say for sure. I just saw that was the only thing that really could have affected the display...
Tried to get the patch to work again and I got the same dark results that I didn't like. I read through and saw that there was a reference to nitest kernel in the patch. I went over and flashed the newest and that fixed it to a reasonable value half way between what I was used to and the way too dark that the patch gave. So here is the order I did:
flashed rom CM10
flashed gapps gapps for CM
flashed patch NS4g patch
flashed nitest Nitest
If someone could direct me to voodoo control that is referenced??? I can't find it on play store and I searched the forums but I just find posts that talk about it, not any that point to it. Would be appreciated!
You should be able to get the latest app in the play store search for voodoo sound as the name has changed
Much appreciated! Didn't even think that the display options would be available when it only identified sound...

[Q] a few questions ( i9505)

I live in austria and i bought a white galaxy s4 without contract and now iam not sure which rom to flash ^^ i will wait with rooting and flashing until the google edition s4 is out and custom roms of this version have been made( i think it will really fasten up the process for the hackers am I right? )
2 more questions :
1: Can i somehow extract the camera app from touchwiz and take it over to cyanogenmod and or any other ROM?
2: Even if i turn off automatic brightness control and disable color corretion and everything else in the settings the phone still throttles down the brightness on bright pictures and for example if iam using the browser..... It is noticeable the most when you open a white page and then pull your notifications down and then back up the screen goes from bright to not bright which is very annoying!!!!
do you think a custom rom or even a custom kernel can fix this problem (edit: my phone does´nt do it now but that might be because im at 85% battery, will keep an eye on that)
sorry for my english I´m still learning ^^
edit:Sorry i put this in the wrong section guys!!! if someone could change that..... im still new here :/

If your model is the 9505 you can flash any ROM you wish as long as it isn't from the 9500 section and that you use a kernel for your specific device.
Camera app is dependent on TouchWiz framework, so no; it can't be extracted and used on AOSP/CM/etc.
About your automatic brightness; it may be have something to do with Settings->My Device->Display->Screen Mode. Adapt display, if I understand the concept, will automatically change color profiles depending on what you are viewing which could be what you are perceiving as brightness adjustments.

damnit then I hope there will be some good alternatives to that, because i just love the features of the camera app and kinda paid for them.... 612€... I dont care about the sensors though ^^
about the settings i have that already checked off, but yesterday my sreen really liked to change the brightness on itself ( with auto adjust off!!)

Flash The Omega Rom from the i9505 Section or Darthstalker from the T-Mobile Rom.
I would suggest against any Cm 10.1, AOKP and or PA. They are still VERY BUGGY for daily use, with updates every week. Not sure if you want to use that type of Rom for daily Use. .Your Call.

[Q] Color profiling with CyanogenMod

It's not a secret that AMOLED screens like the one installed in S4 mini have wider color range than IPS what often results in over-saturated images which were prepared for standard sRGB range.
Stock S4 mini ROM has means to change color profiles. So the question is - if this functionality also included/planned to be included in S4 mini's CM and kernel CM uses for this model? Could profiles be anyhow adjusted?
It's on my to-do list.
Really glad to hear it, Arco! Thanks!
Could you please share a bit about mechanism behind that? Is it really some driver/kernel-space functionality or it is being implemented on higher levels?

Haven't really looked at it yet, but I think both kernel and user space changes are needed.

Hi arco68,
I'm also interested in a solution for the over-saturation problem of the amoled of my S4 mini. Before that I'll keep my stock rom that has the profiles included.
In the meanwhile any progress on that?
S4 Mini oversatured display - solution!
Finally I found something that really works: S4minisettings.apk
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2558702&page=11
look for F4k's post
This build is for cm 11 (4.4 kitkat). The only thing is you have to manually put it to system/apps/ folder and then correct the permissions to
rw,r,r (644)
otherwise it doesn't work.
To get really natural colors instead of the oversatured ones you have to set mode to "natural" and temperature to "normal". Sometimes you have to switch the display off and on to get the settings applied.
Great thanks to F4k!
Cool!
Finally i get rid of this unnatural colours,
thanks peter and f4k! :good::good::good:
If you're interested I've developed an App called "ColorModeChanger" to adjust colors and saturation. You cn visit XDA thread at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3154845

[poll] Which would you prefer as default: stock green led blink or fading blink

On a new version of my cleanslate kernel I'm working on Fading blink feature.
I'm curious how many of you would prefer to use the Fading blink instead of the original very short burst blink of the 10
Here's how it looks with my current work in progress kernel
Please use the poll and comment if you would like to. Thanks
Mmmmmm, interesting idea. I think the notification blink is fine as it is. Would be very interesting if you could implement the fade into the low battery blink. So it fades orange instead of blinking it. If that makes sense haha

I'm a bit in between, the default blinking is well noticeable, yet aesthetically I find it unpleasant to the eye. It's purposeful but unsophisticated compared to the possibilities of the LED driver.
That's why I started to make it more "21st century" looking, pulsating, noticeable but nicer at the same time.
But as this is purely subjective I opened this poll to know what people think so I can confidently set it as default in the custom kernel.
About fading between colors I'm afraid that would need much more engineering as both ROM and kernel would need to change. Htc implemented notification about states in a one overwrites all manner in the framework of the sense ROM, which blocks your idea, tho sounds like a nice idea, it would need more with than just kernel level

if only it were possible... but there's no real RGB color compositing on the htc led
Fading blink looks cool. Go that way if it works reliably
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Meanwhile this I have a brand new led feature idea, I think most of you will love... Gonna keep it a secret for a wee bit yet , but soon to be revealed

fading blink is much better still in comparison to stock green blink

Any way to achieve this without the kernel? I have root, elementalx, xposed, etc so I am wondering if there is an alternative method..

which part? The flashing of the notification green led?
I don't think so, based on the kernel level structure I'd say, this driver was not meant to do such advanced things in stock kernel.
that's where I come into picture

Please let me test! That pulse blink is beyond sick! Make this the standard!
Summarizing the poll, the majority is looking for the Fading LED functionality.... but here's something really cool additionally, maybe of same caliber of more, you decide
I'm still polishing and testing the two features that was born out of my RGB led experimentation
but here's a video about the
two new features that again is
going to change a good part of how HTC 10's will work among the custom mod user community members.
- Fading LED notifications blinking
- Color changing charging LED based on battery charge level

Wow, I can't wait to try this.
Would be a real reason to switch to your kernel after years of elementalX

After updating to official Google Android 11, my screen has a greenish tint with too high a gamma

Hi, I am basically positive that my stock Google pixel 3 xl has been effectively ruined by their Android 11 software update.
I upgraded using the update feature, and my screen works but the color balance is way off. There is a greenish tint and like the gamma is too high.
How can I fix this? I now have changed to a ROM (lineage 17 which is Android 10) and the color balance has not changed at all.
I literally did not do a thing to change the color balance--just upgraded as Google asked me to one day to Android 11 and as soon as it finished I noticed this issue. Would appreciate some help, even if it's just a sorry out of luck, known issue, no fix.
Thank you!
