After updating to official Google Android 11, my screen has a greenish tint with too high a gamma - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

Hi, I am basically positive that my stock Google pixel 3 xl has been effectively ruined by their Android 11 software update.
I upgraded using the update feature, and my screen works but the color balance is way off. There is a greenish tint and like the gamma is too high.
How can I fix this? I now have changed to a ROM (lineage 17 which is Android 10) and the color balance has not changed at all.
I literally did not do a thing to change the color balance--just upgraded as Google asked me to one day to Android 11 and as soon as it finished I noticed this issue. Would appreciate some help, even if it's just a sorry out of luck, known issue, no fix.
Thank you!

[Q] Dark Display??

Hey everyone,
I just tried both the stable cm10 and the new PA roms (didn't know my phone could work that fast!!!) and the only problem I have seen so far is with very dark pictures. It seems as if there is a mis-calibration with the screen but can't figure out how to change it. Changing brightness settings for the device doesn't do anything as it isn't an led error but more an interpretation error.
Has anyone else noticed this???
fyi I came from a cm9 rom but I can't remember which one...
Thanks
~~edited title to better reflect the issue. It affects the whole display (including home screen)
~~downloaded and tested Screen Adjuster and it works by upping the rgb values by about 20-30% however it causes tremendous slow down of the system. Still just wondering why such a difference in screen display between a cm9 build and both jelly bean builds that I tried.
Thought I would add a pic so you can see the difference. The displays used to show pretty much the exact same pic and now you can see how much darker the one on the phone is.
Thanks again for any help, always appreciated!
Never mind. I reflashed the rom and did NOT install the ns4g modem mod and that corrected the issue. At a guess it was the voodoo color that caused the difference but I don't know enough to say for sure. I just saw that was the only thing that really could have affected the display...
Tried to get the patch to work again and I got the same dark results that I didn't like. I read through and saw that there was a reference to nitest kernel in the patch. I went over and flashed the newest and that fixed it to a reasonable value half way between what I was used to and the way too dark that the patch gave. So here is the order I did:
flashed rom CM10
flashed gapps gapps for CM
flashed patch NS4g patch
flashed nitest Nitest
If someone could direct me to voodoo control that is referenced??? I can't find it on play store and I searched the forums but I just find posts that talk about it, not any that point to it. Would be appreciated!
You should be able to get the latest app in the play store search for voodoo sound as the name has changed
Much appreciated! Didn't even think that the display options would be available when it only identified sound...

The Camera Issues

Hi all
I'm aware there are problems with the M9 camera but looking at mine I can't tell if the problems really are that bad or if I have a bad model.
Are the any decent fixes so far? I'm aware there is a newer build version ( 1.32.651.30 - that include thermal issues and camera fixes ) that those on Android Revolution can't update via OTA yet. Will these be coming to ARHD soon? Anyway to update to this?
The main problems I have is that the images are FAR too soft. This is effecting both the front and back cameras and the images are not crisp like the M7. I don't quite understand why so many are having problems. Is everyone else having these massively soft images? (It's like it's smoothing over the image to reduce noise but it just looks awful and like a 6 year old phone camera)
Thanks
Goto setting then adjust contrast and other details.

SOT and battery life on Pie 9.0?

Hey guys,
I have just received my new A2 Lite (4gb 64gb) with Oreo.
Is the 9.0 Pie upgrade worth it?
What kind of SOT are you guys getting and how's the overall battery life?
Smoother/faster or worse?
Any annoying bugs that haven't been sorted out yet or something that would hold you back from upgrading?
Thanks!
I think oreo is better on drain.
Pie has faster animations.
I recommend you should wait january update for pie. We are on 5 december security patch.
I haven't see any annoying bug yet.
If you upgrade to pie an hard reset would be good for daily use and speed(after updrading).

I noticed no bugs either, but some things are annoying, for example there are network indicator arrows on statusbar and it keeps showing and hiding itself. When you have DND enabled, it shows a dot then shows the DND icon. It's flipping annoying if you ask me. Other than that it seems fine but be aware you can't use a 3rd party launcher properly with Pie because of the new dock. It looks ugly and cuts the animation if you install another launcher. So far that's all my issues with Pie. Some people report that Pie has worse battery life, but I think it has to do with AI optimizations and it gets better with usage. Tried and tested. If the first two problems I wrote about won't disturb you, go ahead and install it. ALSO Pie doesn't have rounded corners on notifications like it does on Pixel devices. Which was a huge deal-breaker for me at first, but then I got used to it. Cheers!
EDIT: Overall Pie seems smoother because of the new animations and SOT depends on usage, my record was about 8,5 hours sot but again it depends on your usage, technically Pie is supposed give you better battery life. When you upgrade to Pie, you can downgrade however you will face SIM card issues etc.

Alright! thanks! But I guess it doesn't have any significant good changes versus the 8.0 other than visual changes, and or pretty much things that we won't notice.
A black theme would be good to have, and maybe the possibility to add the Gcam APK with that night mode. (apparently not working well on Pie?)
Thanks again for your long reply.

Black theme is already present on android 8 but you need to use a dark wallpaper, it's always on automatic. On Pie you can set it to dark mode always, but the accent colors are teal and some people don't like them. Dark mode only applies to phone, messaging and quick settings. Gcam apk found in themes and apps works fine on Pie, but ones I tried with Night Shot have issues, although you can use Night Shot you can't use Portrait etc. which makes it unusable so I use the old version, which gets the job done.
I have 10.5 or 11.5 SOT on pie .. sorry for my bad english
I have been on Pie basically since it was released in Indonesia (vpn enforced update), and, for me, the only lowlights are the hidden notifications (as mentioned above) and sligthy worse SOT. On the other hand, I really grew to like the launcher gestures, especially the switch between the last 2 used apps. I do not even mind the always present google search bar, which I mostly use to find and launch applications, rather then swiping up for the app list. The fingerprint reader gesture is a nice addition too (although I preferred the side swipe introduced on pre-December patch version). It really depends on what is important for you. I am enjoying it and would not go back.

Custom ROM's camera apps taking photos in yellow accent

Hi there,
I am sick of tired using MIUI and its childish design, so decided to upgrade to AOSP based custom ROMs for my Ginkgo. I can say that i tried almost all custom Q ROM's, but in every one of them built in camera app was taking photos all in yellow accent. It's weird but i've faced this issue for almost all Q ROM's so far. Trying GCam/trCam and plenty of other camera apps didn't help. But when i use WhatsApp's built-in camera, there is no problem. Also there is no problem with MIUI based custom ROM's like MIUI EU, MIUIMIX and MiRoom. So i'm pretty sure it's not related with the hardware, it's software based.
Weird thing is no one except me is talking about this. It's like i am the only one who is facing this bug. Any idea to fix this ****ty issue?

You’re not alone! I’ve only used ( I’m using Pixel Experience Q) and the stock cam has a warm tint, but I used a GCam with and set it to an inbuilt IMX 586 white balance preset ( Ik, the RN8 has a GM2) and it looked normal He devs should be able to fix it once Xiaomi comes out with actual android 10 miui so they can get proper android 10 blobs!
You are not alone indeed. Also, as well as fixing this, I'd like to understand how one selects between the various cameras. For example, how does one select the 48mp camera ?
(only installed rom last night, so need to play some more but very keen to find an answer to the yellow tint problem)
An update - having tried the camera again today, it is fine. I have both the built-in and open camera apps. I will do more testing tonight but this tinting thing might be a misapplication of some night-mode setting (no, I didn't have night-mode enabled when I tested the camera last night and got tinted results).
that is the issue with device tree
wait for new tree by fabian
Hello, I did some more testing last night. It seems (and I am no photographic expert) that if the camera is used in ambient light then it appears to work fine. If there is any "warm" light (such as from a light bulb) in the area it can see then it over-tones yellow. I tried it in the evening and again this morning. I guess we just need to wait for the device tree?
I did wonder if installing the MIUI camera app would work better - I haven't tried it but I guess the device tree would make this an issue at a lower level than the apps...
im curious about this yellow tint as well, a friend has an iphone 11 pro with no yellow tint in the same room as me, note 8t same problem as op's

General [MIUI13][EEA][Android 12] Anything fixed/broken in the POCO F3 Official EEA Update SKHEUXM 13.0.4.0

Hi, just posting this in order to have more information on this update, the changelog states only an update of the security patch up to February 2022 security patches, nothing else is said.
I've seen a few bugs on 13.0.3.0 such as bubbles of chat cannot be closed when in landscape, you must go in portrait orientation to close the bubble of chat.
But I don't know if anything has changed about Battery Life, I haven't had issues with the 120hz/60hz refresh rate of the screen so far.
I hope this post will help people in better knowing what the upgrade fixes and what it doesn't and also if it introduces new issues or not.
For me it fixes the incredibly laggy notification shade (on 13.0.3 it was like a slideshow, now after the 13.0.4 update is is buttery smooth). I also noticed that apps that support material you / monet now use the wallpaper color. My battery life is the same, no issues on that front.
i have a strange issue, sometime the first 4 cpu cores get stuck at 1800mhz
verified with aida64
happens randomly after long standby or long charging and increase idle power usage significantly. I have to enable and disable ultra battery saver to get them unstuck
I've also had an issue, had to reboot my POCO F3, and the update disappeared... I can't even force it manually, the update is no longer here no matter how much I check, seems like a very useful bug....
Furthermore, I'm probably going to move on to LOS 19 or DivestOS (a more secure focused fork of LOS) when we have an official support out for the POCO F3, then I'll update the firmware inside the recovery I guess

Clear the cache for the updater app. That might help.

I can confirm that. Clearing Updater cache brought the update immediately.
I also did the update, but my cache must have cleaned itself alone somehow, I noticed now that some chat bubbles are even more buggy in landscape for instance.
Material You has been added, support in most apps, like for instance in a browser, your navigation bar has now an orange tint, before it did not, many apps that do support Material You, I guess are affected by this new feature.
I have no idea however where you can configure such.
