Guys, need help with TWRP flashing! - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Guys, I used RootJunky's video instruction. Everything went fine, I flashed recovey in adb. Then, as instructed, rebooted to bootloader, then to recovery.
But now I get "This build is for development purposes only..." insted of TWRP. If I do nothing, it just reboots to system.
Help me, please!
Thank you in advance!

Did you use TWRP 3.0.3-0? If not flash this recovery, found over in the downloads tab of the TWRP thread. The named version is compatible to Android N as well as MM. From what you wrote - and is really less information - I guess you're on a late 2.x.x-x TWRP version but an N firmware.

I used 3.0.2-6 version, I thought it's OK. And yes, I'm on N firmware.
The thing I have just noticed is that when RootJunky dragged and dropped the TWRP file in the cmd window it automatically was quoted ("..."), but mine wasn't.
So, maybe this is the problem?
Can I just reflash recovery once again?
P.S. I can boot to system/bootloader/download mode successfully

No the quotation marks aren't the problem. But you need TWRP 3.0.3-0 unofficial as 3.0.2-6 won't boot on N firmware.
Download the mentioned unofficial TWRP, flash as shown on the video tutorial and you're good to go.

But now it asks me if I want to keep it read only or not. Meanwhile RootJunky is asked about Encryption password.

Well it's not to hard to find if you'd follow my above explanations...
Here it is: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3358139/page146
If opened in browser you recognize a download tab on top, kick it, and download 3.0.3-0 unofficial. Don't take 3.0.3-3 at the moment, as not all ROMs seem to flash properly. Those ROMs are just not yet changed to the new mechanism used, but it'd be better to wait.

[Q] Bootloader, CWM & Rom help

I have managed to root my device after the 10P firmware! FYI, I used Android Kingo Root.
After looking into many posts, forums, etc... I have come to the conclusion that unlocking the bootloader is going to be trickier than any other device I have been successful with. I want to install CM 10.2 and CWM 6+, however, I cannot find solid information on how to unlock the bootloader for this unit. I would have liked to install the latest 4.4.2 from AT&T, but the device was rooted prior and AT&T will not honor the phone for the upgrade. At this point, I feel it would be easier to just install a custom ROM instead of trying to put the AT&T stock back into the unit.
Most of the info I see seems overly tricky and doubtful. I have downloaded FreeGee, but, in version 1.9.23 there isn't an option for unlock or disable security,(I have emailed the devs for the app). I also have gprorecovery.apk, but, I am deathly afraid to use it as I cannot find ANY material about it anywhere and I am worried to brick the one phone I absolutely love.
If someone has the knowledge, please share. Also, feel free to add in your experience and pitfalls with this device after manipulating the software. I am not 100% sold on CM, so if you want to suggest a great ROM...Feel free.
I appreciate the help and suggestions in advance.
No unlocked bootloader for the gpro. Sorry dude.

Once you install recovery press power + volume up (asuming you powered down or resetted your device of course) until the lg logo appears ( some white letters will appear on the top left corner, release power button when they do). That will take you to the recovery. I'm. Using a cwm/twrp combo. I flash everything i need with cwm, twrp i keep since this phone has a tendency of going into a recovery bootloop and only twrp can get you out of it. Always keep your flashing files on the internal storage, sometimes flashing from sd card wont work.

YES, IT WORKS.
After this procedure, just update your Recovery (CWM or TWRP), using Flashify, available in PlayStore.
Thank you!

Hello, guitarboy21. Yes, I used FreeGee to install TWRP (version 2.6.3.6, something like that), ant then updated it to the TWRP 2.8.1.0 modded version using Flashify. And all worked out ok.
But first, before doing like explained here, I tried using LGOG Pro Recovery + TWRP using Flashify, and it softbricked my phone. So I unbricked it flashing the Stock 4.4 KitKat KDZ and did the procedure following the steps in this topic.
Gladly, now I think it's all good.
Thank you for your help!
Hey man! Congrats! Sorry it bricked your phone but its nice to hear that it worked. If you had flashed using freegee directly it wouldve bricked ur phone. Anyway, hows the experience? Is everything working good?
Do you have the option to disable capacitive keys and enable softkeys? I can help if ud like it.

It isn't really an unlock. It is more of a boot certification bypass.

That's what I'm wondering as well
I believe that you would have to be on a computer. Packages like this are made to be flashed through fastboot which requires a computer to do manually. Developers "repackage" them to make them flashable through rooted recoveries.

That's what I originally figured, I'm waiting on somebody to take the OTA to confirm whether it relocks the boot loader or not.

Also, You have to have stock recovery for the update to even work fyi.

this is true. but if the OTA package is installed the first thing it will do is replace hboot and recovery. (thats why sometimes you have to flash the ruu twice, first time will do hboot, recovery, firmware. second will be the rom) if you fastboot flash you dont need stock recovery. it will be installed regardless.
Nevertheless i would wait for Santod040 to do his work. if you flash now, the boot.img will make system non RW and you will loose root. the boot img needs to be modified or removed and its not as easy as unziping the firmware to remove it.

That would be awesome. I'm already unlocked boot loader and s-off , i thought it would b as simple as flashing stock 4.4.3 Rom and recovery, then taking OTA. And then flashing twrp and supersu , I thought for sure I was right about that, but there are many here who r far more experienced than me here, so please share your findings, it'll b MUCH appreciated!

[KERNEL][LOLLIPOP][10.6.A.0.454][ADVANCED STOCK WITH RECOVERY](UB Only)

Pure stock kernel for unlocked bootloaders with TWRP 2.8.6.0 recovery.
Created using flashtool and mkbootimg.
Rename odin.img.apk to boot.img and fastboot it to have UB stock kernel with TWRP.
To root, download Chainfires latest flashable zip from Here.
Then reboot and press press volume up when blue LED turns on to enter TWRP recovery, and flash the zip from the stored location.
NOTE: I don't own this device, but based on my work for Yuga, Some ZL users have requested I do the same for Odin.
Please test and report your findings here :good:

That would mean building the LP kernel from sources. This is just stock kernel extracted from kernel.sin, and packed into a boot.img with TWRP recovery added.
If you want to make a custom kernel, go ahead. Just split the boot.img and swap the stock zImage with the custom one.
I won't be building custom kernels for this device. Sorry.

So far, this isn't working. The zenfone 2 I'm trying to flash continues to boot into TWRP no matter what I do, even after flashing TWRP 3.0.3. I keep on flashing LOS14.1 and it's still booting into twrp. I tried wiping the phone and flashing, it says that the flashing works, but then it proceeds to boot into twrp.

It turns out that the issue was that I flashed magisk. When flashing the magisk zip provided from the marshmallow (ZenFone 2 specific) thread, it worked fine. It's now rooted using magisksu.
Tnx guys. I fix the problem updating TWRP. Now i can update via OTA normaly correct?
I've installed Los 14.1-20180113, open_gapps-x86-7.1-stock, and twrp-3.0.3-M4. When I do a normal or recovery boot, the phone will reboot a few times then goes to bootloader. When I install twrp-3.0.2-0 the phone will reboot a few times and then goes into recovery mode (twrp is showing). Any ideas of what can be wrong? TIA
just use the official twrp from their site,3.2 is working correctly, the official lineageos also works, but, when flashing any zip which modifying boot image, such as super SU or masigk, you need flash the special version in this forum or using official and flash the signature zip to boot
installed twrp-3.2.1-0-Z00A.img from official site. When I try to boot to recovery, the phone would reboot 3 times then load bootloader, twrp does not load
It is a kernel related issue , for me works only when i flash flareN kernel after ota update lineage os
