Do you need any of it?
No.
Is any of it newer/better than 7.1.1?
Probably not, IDK.
I needed to test something with 7.1.2 so I grabbed a few things and uploaded 'em for the heck of it.

Could probably bounce the version numbers off what's currently on apk mirror. Quite a few of the versions were dated from December and January so I don't think they are specific to 7.1.2

I'm not that motived.

[ROM] 11/11/11 NaerokRom Beta v1.2 | Odex by strongsteve/Deodex | Bare Bones (~130Mb)

Original thread here: http://rootzwiki.com/forum/237-epic-4g-touch-developer-forum/
Link above is where I will be most active regarding this rom. Sorry for the inconvenience.
When I get a new laptop/PC, it pisses me off when there is software installed that I have to remove myself. I don't want the powerful hardware that I purchase to be crippled by unnecessary applications, services, and or processes. Dell Customer Experience? Don't need it. HP Support? Google is better.
Why not make the extra bloatware optional?
I got this phone, Odin'd the rooted odex'd stock tarball (one of the easiest methods to root a phone that isn't a Nexus) and saw that it was almost 450mb.
This was unacceptable to me. What are all these apps I don't want? Why is Gmail included when there is a newer one available from the market? Why would I want to use Samsung's Twitter app when there are much better options in the market (or why is it preinstalled)?
Granted, I knew the phone was going to come with TouchWiz and a few things preinstalled, but my goal is to have a flashable ROM as close to a "bare-bones" experience as possible.
So I made a custom flashable ROM that I can personally use every few weeks when I feel that my phone gets a bit sluggish and need a fresh start.
This is NOT for you if you don't like doing the dirty work, and taking some time to set up your device the way you like.
This is for those people out there like myself that do not like any preconfigured or installed apps. Every app that is available from the Android Market has been removed from the ROM so you can download them yourselves.
If you update an app from the market that is preinstalled into the /system partition (i.e. Gmail, Maps), the market will update the app into the /data partition.
This results in a copy of the old Gmail in /system/app and a updated Gmail in /data/app (little things like this make me RAGE!!!!!!!!)
By letting the user install the apps directly from the market (into the /data partition) to begin with, we can avoid this redundancy.
(example of exception: YouTube app was left installed as our device's fingerprint is incompatible to download the app separately from the market.)
Before the download link, things you should know:
This ROM...(and mods)
- includes chris41g's LoStKernel (http://github.com/chris41g)
- available in odexed and deodexed
- includes stock AOSP Gingerbread Launcher (tweaked for faster scrolling/opening speeds, you may install any launcher from the market such as Go Launcher EX)
- includes NoCIQ mod (Credits: k0nane, strongsteve http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286783)
- includes Juwe's Custom Ram script (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111145)
note: You need a kernel that has init.d support
- includes GPS Configuration tweaks for hopefully faster GPS locks
- includes stock AOSP Gingerbread Keyboard and dependent lib
- includes CRT screen off animation
- ZipAligned APK's (http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/zipalign.html)
- Updated Superuser app
Special thanks/credits to
Snipa (@Snipa_Ablair) and goo-inside.me (@gooinsideme) for hosting my junk and everything they do for the Android community
XDA/Rootzwiki for their hospitality!
strongsteve for odexing my deodexed rom as a whole
chris41g (@chris41g) for the kernel that pwns Samsung's broken SPH-D710 Kernel "Source"
WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS ROM!?!?
(The flashable zips below can be flashed in the same recovery session. No need to wipe anything in between if doing so. Please make sure you use the correct zip file depending if you are running the odexed or deodexed rom)
1. Longpressing "Home" to access "Task manager" force closes, freezes, melts, blows up my phone! What do I do?
The stock "Task manager" looks for the Samsung Job Manager APK. Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik-cache, and flash the following to gain the "Task manager" function back.
NOTE: This will also add the "Task Manager" app to your app drawer.
Odex: http://goo.gl/PZOei
Deodex: http://goo.gl/tIdqP
2. Going into "Voicemail settings" force closes the dialer/resets my signal, and makes my phone radioactive! What do I do?
The "Voicemail settings" tries to access the Sprint Visual Voicemail APK. Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik-cache, and flash the following if you need Sprint Visual Voicemail (I personally use Google Voice for my voicemail needs).
Odex/Deodex: http://goo.gl/1jv3q
3. I don't have a voicemail app? WTF???? FIX THIS NA0!
See #2 and use the same file if you want Sprint's Visual Voicemail. Google Voice from the market is an alternative.
4. When trying to "Select sound from My files" for custom ringtones within the Contacts app, it just kicks me back out to the contacts view. WTF??
This function looks for the Samsung My Files APK. Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik-cache, and flash the following if you need the My Files app.
Odex: http://goo.gl/JXP0M
Deodex: http://goo.gl/naJ6r
5. I WANT TOUCHWIZZZZZ
Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik-cache, and flash the follwing zip which includes:
TouchWiz Launcher, Calculator/widget, Calendar/widget, Clock/weather widget, Program Monitor widget, News Widget, Press Reader, Samsung Music Player, Samsung Apps Services (all stock apks + odex files).
Odex: http://goo.gl/81r46
Deodex: http://goo.gl/3cxyf
6. Your GPS tweaks suck ass, I got lost on my way to a Thai massage and missed my appointment because of your half-assed effort you call TWEAKS!!
Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik-cache, and flash the following which will give you the stock GPS configurations.
http://goo.gl/p4RAl
7. I need exchange support...
Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik-cache, and flash the following for ~7mb of exchange. Suit.
Odex: http://goo.gl/1M3uv
Deodex: http://goo.gl/i9i7U
8. I don't like the kernel, why didn't you just keep the stock kernel with cwm or like something?
Just flash it yourself.
Any current working kernel for our phone should work fine on this ROM.
9. Trying to access "Wallpaper gallery" to change the stock lockscreen wallpaper fc!? this rom SUX!
The "Wallpaper gallery" looks for the Touchwiz wallpapers which are removed. Use the "Gallery" option instead to select a custom image of your own.
If you decide that this ROM may fit your needs after reading my boring, uninformative intro, PLEASE make a nandroid backup. You still may decide that you need to put a little too much effort/work into making this ROM the way you like, and having a solid nandroid backup always makes life a bit easier. Also, please backup all your apps and information you need so that you can easily restore them.
If you skipped straight to the download link below, then please read the full post before asking any questions that may have been answered.
As always, if coming from a different rom, wipe /system and data/factory reset within recovery before flashing.

Changelog 11/11/11
New odexed version.
Deodexed version was odexed by strongsteve adding nociq+hotspot+overscroll mod. Huge thanks!
Not new feature but forgot to mention, camera can take pictures with volume button and is completely silent
Changelog from v1.1 to 1.2
Added AOSP Calculator APK
Removed a few build.prop tweaks that possibly effects call quality
Updated display version in About Phone
Removed battery percentage number, recompiled stock framework-res with only change CRT Screen On animation
Changelog from v1.0 to v1.1
Removed AOSP Gallery3D and added stock Galler3D.apk and odex file to fix force close of changing lock screen wallpaper. If you don't need this function because you use Go Lock or some other lockscreen replacement, feel free to flash v1.0
(thanks to paranoid android85 for pointing out the issue)
Trying to access "Wallpaper gallery" from lockscreen wallpaper settings will still force close, as I will not include the stock Touchwiz wallpapers which is another ~12mb of pictures I will never look at
Please remember, I added the BETA tag so I could get a public feedback on bugs/issues I might not have noticed from using this myself. I hope to have covered everything in this post so please read through everything if you have not.
2nd/3rd post will contain random related things, so feel free to read while you download.
This post may be modified at anytime without warning
I am not responsible for your phone in any way! As with everything on XDA, use at your own risk.

Sprint Hotspot is built into the stock settings. I will look into removing this via smali in the future.
Google Search is needed to have a functioning search key to navigate between apps/contacts/websearch/etc.
Voice Dialer is needed if you use bluetooth/handsfree functions.
YouTube is not available from the market for our devices at the moment.
GPS Tweaks: what is it?
I don't guarantee this works for everyone, but it's a popular mod on XDA found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239713)
I just modified it to work with North America/US needs
This screenshot was taken indoors where I usually detect ~4 satellites. Obviously this could be coincidence, so try it out.
Anything else you recommend?
Autostarts app (https://market.andro...roid.autostarts)
*I am not affiliated in any way with the developer of this app
This isn't an ordinary "task killer" of sort, but lets you disable/enable processes and apps from starting up in the first place depending on the condition (screen on/off, toggle wifi, etc.)
Description:
Code:
Keep control over your phone: See what applications do behind your back.
Shows you what apps run on phone startup, and what other events trigger in the background. Root users can disable unwanted autostarts and speed up their phone boot.
Note: Root-Access *is* required to make changes. Otherwise, this application will be read-only.
STOP stuff from running before they even start
Why are apps like Goggles and Maps starting "After Startup"? Don't know, but disable it!
Got in an elevator and lost signal. Get out and when "Connectivity changed" dropbox starts? Not anymore.
Use this app at your own risk. Don't disable random **** like "messaging" and complain about not getting text messages.
Consequences will never be the same!

P.S. By the way, the introduction to this rom was fun to read.

We'll see if this gets moved/removed since it's based on Samsung's stock "Rom"
Either way rootz is the "home" of this rom so I'll be easier to get in touch with in the thread linked on top of OP
This rom sounds great, I'll give it a go when I get home. Thanks for your contribution!

Before I flash. Does the phone icon in the launcher launch the dialler or contacts?
If it launches contacts any way to change it to dialler?

launches contacts. it's the way stock aosp launcher is coded (does same thing on the stock launcher that comes preinstalled on our phones from sprint). I tried modding it via smali and wasted a few hours >_< and recently haven't thought much about it since I use Go Launcher. I'll take another look this weekend.
even on CM though, it launches contacts iirc, and CM added an option to "default launch to dialer" in the phone.apk

Been using this rom for about a week and loving the barebones. It's fast and I managed to get the ICS theme v1.6 to work on it. I just wish you could add the advance power menu mod! Great work, thanks!

lol I know you removed this in your latest version...but is there a chance you can upload a flashable zip to put battery percentages back in? I suck at estimating what the battery is based on graphics w/o numbers -_-
haha, nice OP...
i like roms that are stripped down. other crap should be added by the user i agree.
makes it less annoying to use HUGE afterthefact apps that use up the system resources... every time i open "running services" i want to punch babies.

you can enable percentages in your taskbar without actually running the widget on your homescreen.

EDIT*** plus you can set notifications as well... again without running the widget.... like "fully charged" a notification tone... or "under x%".... notification tone.... or "doing your mom"
U came prepared OP, with fixes an all lol...good job an welcome. Imma give it a run later. closer to ASOP the better for me personally

[Q] Removing Apps from Gapps?

I tried googling this but googling anything "gapps" turns into an "apps" nightmare search. hahah
Anyways, does anyone know how to edit a Google Gapps file to remove some of the apps?
Everytime I flash a new CM based ROM, I have to reflash Gapps. Which means I have to go back into Titanium Manager and re-remove the google apps that I won't be using. It gets tiring having to do this all the time.
It would be a lot easier if I could just flash the Gapps that I need.
Hmm, maybe I should just skip flashing gapps and install only the apks I need? Well, some ROM's (like Slim) require a modified google apps. So I'd rather just remove what I don't like.

As enzyme said, all you have to do is open up the zip, delete what you don't want from /system/app, then zip it right back up and you have your own "custom" flashable gapps zip. Just have to remember to do that same patch each time a new gapps update is released. I personally remove GMail, calandar, contacts, and talk from my old phone that I let the kid use for games, so they don't screw it up.
And, FWIW, here's how those system apk filenames map to application names, so you know what's safe to delete:
Code:
$ for app in mnt/system/app/*apk; do printf "%30s : %s\n" "$(basename $app)" "$(aapt dump badging "$app"|grep label-en|cut -d: -f2)"; done

So am I to understand, just remove the line item completely?
Well, it's not working for me just yet (on justinbeam inverted GAPPS). But I might have screwed something up. I used TWRP to flash the new gapps that I had removed some APK's from and re-zipped. It just said "FAILED to install".
I'll try a couple more times.
Arghh, not working for me.
I can installed the unedited Justinbeam inverted gapps but not the one that I removed the email/talk apk's from. That one fails.
I'll probably try again sometime with the normal CM GAPPS and CWM.
Ya me too. I tried adding an apk and it fails. I was hoping to cut out a step I do when updating my ROM.
Why not use the aroma JusTunBean gapps? Let's you select which apps to install during flash. Also has options for inverted or standard.

I've flashed several ROM's and get flakey results with JusTunBean too often, to really consider it to be reliable. I only use the standard 4.1 Gapps now.
The method I've ended up going with is to flash gapps.
Then I go into Titanium Backup and freeze all the Gapps apps (and other ROM related apps) that I don't use.
Then everytime I flash an updated ROM and flash Gapps again, Titanium remembers to freeze those apps. So I only have to do it that first time only.

i547 Rugby Pro De-Bloat

Early on in the life of the small, fast and tough Galazy i547, there seems to be little interest other than the efforts of kemonine96, and the few others thanked and mentioned in his SuperThread, and a huge thanks for that work so far.
In meanwhile I've found very few listings of specific’s on the Rugby Pro other than that in kemonine96's SuperThread, so I thought I would post a list of De-Bloat worthy apk's. I am no cook, this is a stopgap measure until the more capable create a better ROM. (Likely kemonine96 is nearly perfected with CM 10.1). So far I have found no dependencies that cause problems, but one that may be related. Slow loading of a few widgets on boot. Much of the list is the same as the Galaxy S3. As normal cautious practice, do a nandroid backup first, Root is of course required as is Root Explorer, ES File Explorer or whatever your choice. Recovery and root details and the real work can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006388
Thanks go to the many posts from many threads on useless loaded apps, I am by no means the originator of these.
Just an assembler of info for the i547.

Personally, I make a folder on the internal SD, /AppBak and move the apk's when I debloat from system/app, for instance, Eventually I found I was unable to redo the lockscreen wallpaper, turned out the system needs the Gallery App. Other viewers didn't let me change screens. So it's an easy to re-do. There is more to go, I hope this generates some input for more tweaks and tips. In the past I have been used to Moto's so without the dreaded MotoBlur, at least this is a bit more simplified.
Input from anyone who is aware of a dependency issue from the above that haven't bit me yet, or can expand the list is appreciated. This is a great little Galaxy, built for those who bang stuff around and get dirty when working on stuff, lets hot rod it.
Edit:
in continued searching for possible dependencies in the i547 bloat and also verification of total removal of Kies I ran across a post I had missed in Kemonines96's Super Thread by zach.xtr post#143 back in February, Covering most of the above listed files with more detailed info.
The work by zach.xtr indicates the i547 functions without ANY Kies files as will the S3, and that would include removal of the Kies folder in system/etc. Well worth the read, a number of apps I missed. ( and maybe some I should have left. )
1547 debloat update
Just an update on Galaxy Rugby Pro de-bloat info as to the differences in the list provided a while ago by zach.xtr and the one above I recently posted. (currently updated to match my spreadsheet)
The files below are those omitted by my listing and likely useful being in one location for any who may be looking to de-bloat an i547. I have since removed the wlantest.. and wssync.. files as well as the rest of the ATT bloat files I missed. Again, Thx to zach.xtr

The Rugby has been running rock solid stable with the files removed. More free mem and faster I find myself using it far more than the S3 lately.
(have a current backup) It would be helpful to add, after removal, clear cache and Dalvic and reboot.

Maybe try it again next time I reflash, installed GApps from Maclaw's website in the meantime.
Can i flash it with kk 4.4.2 maclaw cyan 11 ?
If you get set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed error message while flashing this Gapps, thats okay.
I've got it too, but if you look carefully(in TWRP), you'll see, that the script places the files in system/app, but after that, something is going wrong.
If you restart your phone, the Gapps will be installed. I've just installed it this morning
not compatible with some roms as the 4.4.2 kitkat version of RR
also with dorimanx kernel not compatible

Apparently update-binary is the problem, although some recovery was used.
This is one GApps was built from a GApps kk November 2013, I will repeat those in this month, see if it fixes this problem.

yes, it says in the title.
As I said before I tested CM11, Carbon and AOKP just on S3 Mini.
For other phone or Rom, I have not tested
I've tried to flash this, and the official Gapps too, after a full-wipe, both of the flashes ended up with the error mentioned above, but in both cases the flash was "successful".
Ps: the official Gapps i've tried was the latest one, 20140105.

Debloat Script
The title says it all, let's keep this simple.
No one likes bloat-ware, so why keep it?
If you like bloat-ware you must be a Samsung Employee.
You can edit the Updater-Script to choose what you want to keep, remove the line which contains the app you want to keep.
This script works on de-odexed and odexed ROMs.
Sfinder and Quickconnect toggles are also removed from the notification drawer.
It is advised that this is flashed on top of a clean install to avoid issues.
Make sure you have a back-up, this script is not yet stable and so expect some issues.
What is removed? (210 apps)

Are you sure you are using this ROM on a G930F? Please post a screenshot of your 'Software Info' page
Just tried your rom for a couple of days and it runs flawlessly. Always I have boot problems after debloating stockrom and this works perfectly fine with just the right apps removed.
Are you planning to keep this up to date for new firmware versions?
Thank you very much,

My plan is to keep the ROM up-to-date with the latest firmware; I will release updates when there is a new firmware and when I have the time to do so. So there isn't much to worry about
thanks for the rom, great job! i really like it.
one question: i want to use your debloat script, but i'm not sure which lines i have to delete to KEEP the "ADAPT SOUND" feature. after using your script (which works fine for me) the standard sound modifications like "uhq upscaler" still work, but when i tap on "adapt sound" nothing happens.
does anybody know, which parts of the script i have to delete for keeping this feature?
i already looked for the apk online and in the rom itself, but i can't find it.
edit: oops, i think i have found it: Hearingdro_V5
@Battlehero
nice work you did there, running the ROM with debloating nearly everything you put in the script since one day and it is blazingly fast and stable.
Just one little thing I noticed, when removing an App via Play Store, Smart Manager runs into an FC.
Keeping the default gallery was a good choice IMHO.
Does phone encryption work for anyone? SD card enc does work just fine, phone itself does not. It shows the encryption screen, goes into a reboot and just boots normally.

you mean we dont need to upgrade actual bootloader (PG5, for instance) in order to install this version ?
if we do so, we lose TWRP ?

To install this version you are not required to have the latest bootloader, if you flash the latest bootloader then TWRP will not work.
The ROM will work with an older bootloader.
