increasing ringtone volume options? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Questions & Answers

This seems like such a stupid question, but I can't find an answer anywhere. Is there a built-in option to enable increasing ringtones for the s7-active (SM-G891A)? For other models it seems to be an option from the dialer settings.
Assuming it isn't possible out of the box, I see a couple apps in the playstore that might work, but none seem to jump out as being great and I'm sort of in disbelief it wouldn't be already available. I have it turned on and working for my alarms.

How to change volume for individual notifications?

Are there are reg settings which would allow me to change the volume of individual notifications?
For instance, I like to keep my general phone volume up, but then every time I get an email, I get this really loud "You've Got Mail." PhoneAlarm was able to change individual volumes, but now I use the HTC plug.
(Also, is there a way to make the mail notification chime in only for newly arrived messages, rather than constantly announcing old, but unread messages?)
Thanks.
Anyone?
I know notifications volume can be individually controlled, since apps like PhoneAlarm do it. I just don't want to run more apps than absolutely necessary.
I've played with the reg settings, but can't figure out what values to change, and to what:-(
AFAIK, there's no individual settings or hacks that allow you to do that.
You can, however, selectively choose whether specific event(s) will give you sound. You see, it's 0 or 1.
The apps that you mentioned can - because they hook the system events programatically, and they can do whatever when an event comes through - and one of the thing they do is to play a notification with volume set previously by you in their user interface.
You can... but its a bit work
Just load the wave file to a wav editor, reduce volume and copy back to the original folder: there you are!
LOL It indeed works.

[Q] Sounds & Notifications ICS different to GB?

I hope there's an answer to this...
In Gingerbread I had my PhoneCall and SMS notification sound different from Email notifications / Facebook.
My basic set up was:
Phone - Ring Always
SMS - Sound Always (and Buzz)
Email - Buzz - no sound
Facebook - nothing. This way I more or less didn't need to change my settings every (except in meetings when I'd sometimes slide it to silent (buzz only)
Maybe I'm going missing something obvious (I hope I am) but ICS seems to have broken this functionality. I couldn't find any notification setting specific to GMail, and I can't find any way of separating out SMS and Email notifications (Without 3rd party apps).
Can I do this in ICS?
If not, Google have quietly been working evil...
You might need to set the notifications in the individual apps. For me, it's only ever had sms and ringtone options in the standard settings

Thanks, That was my first thought... I understand that this was google's rationale for the change that they made in ICS - from the core OS point of view, a notification is a notification (whatever generates it), and its up to the individual app to allow you to configure specific sounds. So far so good (if tedious compared to gingerbread). BUT... the Gmail app doesn't allow you to configure notifications. Perhaps the answer is to try a different email app, and configure it to play a silent MP3 file.
I use tasker to create custom notifications for each app.
Contacts have customised sms tones and certain apps will only vibrate once.
I've also used it to lower volumes in games automatically and enable rotation only in gallery

[Q] How do I disable disruptive auto-volume muting during system notifications?

I really hope my question doesn't go unanswered like this thread: (Q) How do you disable notification mute? I'm surprised that there aren't more people asking the same question for an annoying issue such as this; as it completely ruins the experience of what you are listening to. I can hear background sounds perfectly fine; and, don't need the volume of what I'm listening to, to be completely muted during system notification sounds.
How can I disable this annoying feature? I didn't see any settings to disable it under Settings/Sounds. Hopefully if there is no setting for this, there's still a way to fix this problem.

Sounds gone missing

Changed my default notification and ringtone sound to one that I downloaded. It plays fine when I select it in the Settings --> Sound --> Ringtone/Notification. However it does not play when I get a call or a TXT. And yes, my volume is up.
On a side note, I am so ticked that I cannot set the ringtone and notification volume levels independently!! I cant stand the wait for ROOT so we get some good ROMS

Maybe a dumb question, but have not installed any type of profile app right? I use profile apps so I can quickly change to different setups for night, meetings etc.
Well I do have Sound Manager installed. Since the ringtone and notifications is tied together right now, this app is mostly useless.
I did verify that sounds were turned up. Once I selected a sound that is included with the phone everything is fine. really a pain.

no ringtone on phone calls?

So kind of a weird issue that I've never experienced even on custom Roms. My phones ringtone has stopped working. It will vibrate and always receives calls, I have notification sounds and alarms work just fine but the phone never actually rings it only vibrates. I've tried all the setting thru the quick menus and digging thru the settings. I've tried changing ringtones, using different ringtones, vibration on and off and I can't figure it out. This is a recent problem as the the ringtone did work before but has stopped since. Any help would be appreciated.

get zedge from play store get any ringtone download then set as default ringtone see if that works
I'm pretty sure that I've been having issues with it not ringing properly when in my pocket. Either it's not ringing at all or it's so quiet it's inaudible. I just turned off "pocket mode" and "quiet ring on pickup" in sound settings. Haven't got the chance to test whether one of those settings is the cause yet, but I have a feeling one of them is.
